Tula is annealed steel, which means "softened". It is intended to behave like brass ammo casings, but lacks the natural lubricity of brass. It will never function as well or as reliably as brass in a handgun. It will perform a little better in a 7.62x39 rifle because of the vastly increased pressures and chamber taper that will override the lack of lubricity. 7.62x39mm rifles are designed to shoot steel cased ammo. Pistols are not.
Had the 43x switched to the 48 and couldn't be happier. I understand why you would choose to go with the OEM mags but I've used 5 different S15 magazines and shot around 1500 rounds through them with no malfunction and I'm very confident carrying the S15 mags, just my experience.
@@ryrysinger wanted the longer barrel and the two holsters I had fit the 48. So I was already concealing the extra length anyway really the only difference as far as concealing the 48 would be the extra weight.

Dude I'm 2 minutes and 40 seconds in and you're hitting on all the points why I'm considering the 48 after carrying and shooting the 43x and the 19 for a long time. The 43x is good but shootability against something like a 19 it doesn't compare and the barrel length does concern me a bit for the 43x at longer distances. I'm sure bsllistically it's fine but having the barrel length the same length the FBI, Navy Seals, and other police and military orgs trust in gives me that extra confidence in the sidearm. The 19 is super solid aside from carrying it for long periods(10-12 hours)can be a little uncomfortable and concealing it iwb while wearing a t-shirt isn't the greatest. It's definitely doable but not the greatest. Flannels are great and obviously sweaters are great. Tight t-shirts no way lol and I'm pretty fit and skinny in the mid section area. I also noticed the light(TLR 7) on my 19 does aid in muzzle flip rise so was happy to hear you mention that detail on your 48. The 48 may be the perfect option! I'd like to stay stock so the 10 round mags are a little setback from the 19's fifteen round mags and interchangability with mags up to 17 and 33 rounds but not terrible for civilian use. I think the 48 is my next option and looking forward to see how it feels iwb. Thanks for the great review!
