There are those of us who are into the gun, self defense, shooting sports world, or are LEO's and/or military and understand tactical/firearm jargon. However there is many who don't and imo get put off by not knowing what the hell is being talked about and that's not good for a number of reasons and that is why I highly recommend his channel and I myself love to watch the vlogs because it's so much more relaxed & not overbearing and it's really awesome to see a guy who knows his shit inside and out share the wisdom he gained from extensive sof training and being deployed multiple times to the "Middle East". Aside from all the gun stuff John is a incredible person and he teaches other things sometimes pretty much by mistake but are just as much if not more valuable than the gun stuff, things like being a good man, morals, respect, keeping your word, being a good father, husband, and neighbor, Civic duty and basically just don't be a dick!! I admire John for many reasons but most of all it's because of how humble he is and his drive to help others!! Bravo buddy you success is well deserved!!
The 43 is an awesome EDC. I carry that with the Vickers +2 extension. I like it but you can certainly feel the difference going from just a pinky extension to the +2 extension.

I had the G43 with Taran +2 pads, but after shooting the G48 I sold it to a buddy. While I never had a failure with the extended mags, I prefer the factory mags. I understand those who are going for more concealability, but I’m willing to trade that for getting a full grip (that’s just me). Also, I was blown away by how good the G48 fit my hard and how well I shot it. Bye the way, that intro was hilarious.
I just use the ETS 9rd Mags in my G43 with the X-Grip, it essentially makes the G43 a G43X with the option of going deep concealed with a stock mag. I do plan on getting a G48 Slide to slap n it in the near future.
Whatever sportsman guide is giving you to be a channel sponsor, it’s not enough. Well done guys, well done. I agree completely on the 43 vs the 43x/48. You can’t make the 43x or 48 shorter and with the standard 43 it’s size can be configured to your personal needs. Keep up the great vids.
48 maybe...but 43X is not make a sense... In my opinion... I have 43 with 3 magazines - standard (it is too small for my hands), longer one and one with extended mag plate (+2).
Yeah but realistically the 43's capacity isn't comparable to the 43x unless you want to spend tons of money putting a +3 extension on every 43 mag that you have. So it's a little misleading trying to sell the 43 as having only one less round capacity. Go with the 43x if you want to carry with more rounds.
I'm surprised there still aren't guys cutting shield mags and 43x/48 grips down to 10 rounds, and no one is mentioning or asking about shortening them. This would take them into the 365 'two finger grip' size.
I used to think the Glock 43X and 48 were silly. "What's the point? It's just slightly thinner!" And now I own a G48. And I love it. That smaller width really helps me conceal it better, since im pretty thinly built
The G 48 I have runs excellent, I still shoot the G 19 better, but there are people in my family who can’t reach the trigger properly on the 19... They find the 48 utterly fantastic. I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn with the 43, the 48 you can almost run it like a full-size gun. The 48 Conceals Way better than the 19.
I'm in the SAME boat! I've got a ton of mags for my 43 & 19. While the specs on 43x & 48 are both nice, I carry a 19 in the Tier 1 Axis Slim with a spare 17 mag. To accomplish the same # of rounds with the 48 I'd have to carry at least two spare mags (the 12rd). *One tip many with 43's don't know is the Maggut(com) Z-spring with follower will allow 7rds in the stock 6 mag. 7+1 in that small of form factor still hasn't been beat.

You could also go with a G26 and they will take all the mags you already purchased for your double stack GLOCK’s. I had the G43 and G48 and ended up selling both because I kept going back to my G26. Also, I found that as far as concealment goes, the G48 was not noticeably different than the G19 and likewise for the G43 and the G26. Just some thoughts from someone who has owned and carried these guns.
Something’s been telling me to check out a Glock 26 , I got a shield plus rn with a hogue grip and pinky extension ( stock grip was fine tbh, but I like having more of a full grip feel) but I feel like the 26 got something
I’ll keep my 43, 26, and 19 for concealed carry depending on my dress and activity. If I didn’t have the 26 and all the accessories, I’d consider the 48.
I just bought the regular 43 as opposed to the 43X or 48. The way I see it is I can get the 43 real close to ten rounds and a longer grip with magazine extensions. However, I cannot make the 43x or 48 smaller and more concealable.

But if someone could compile a list of your best intros and advertisements I would buy it. John, My wife and I are going to put you into the rotation on movie night. Please keep up the good work
That’s been my thought all along. The grip length is the hardest part to conceal if you have a smaller frame. If you can carry a 43x or 48, just go for the 19.
I love my g19 but my g43x feels so much better to carry all day it’s so lite and small. I have not carried my g19 since I got the g43x mos but that’s me.

John, I'm not sure what I like better. You're videos on gear and technique or the advertisements! LOL!!! I love it! Keep it up! :) I've never bought from them but I will now just because of the videos.
I love the Vickers plus two, because of quality, price and that it comes with a longer spring. Held the G43X yesterday, and it sure does fit in the hand nicely. I’m not going to replace my original G43 any time soon.
I have variety in my life. In the winter I either carry a 1911 or a Glock 40 (long slide Glock 20) depending on the temperature. Purpose is for punching through heavy cloths. The rest of the year I carry a 9mm of varying types depending on my clothing for concealability . Since most folks are only wearing a t-shirt I feel comfortable with a 9mm especially since my carry ammo in 9mm is 124 grain +P Speer Gold Dot.
love your videos!! ive learned something from every one of them that ive watched. also I have been using sportsmans guide for over 10 years, they are my first stop when it comes to ammo guns or tactical gear. and their prices usually beats most everyone else in the industry. Thanks!! keep up the great work!!
@random Person its good. I have one for that purpose. Still conceals with extra clothing and you get added capacity. I like having the shorter slide but still the 17 frame personally
I just bought the G48, my first glock as well, I’m enjoying it and have several times forgotten it was on. Also it was a great intro to 9mm for my nieces.
There are new 15 round magazines out to fit the 43X and the 48, but I’m not going to run right out and buy one of those guns. I like my 43 just fine, and I have a +2 extension on my spare mag, made by Concealed Concept Weaponry (CCW-MEG43). I bought it from Rainier Arms 4 years ago. It’s machined from billet and painted black, and it’s pretty nice. The mag drops free with authority. It was also also pretty expensive: $37.95 at the time. Unfortunately, I don’t think CCW is in business any longer. Anyway, I’ll check out the ones you recommend. Thanks for the info. I do need to buy some more mags for that gun. BTW, GunMag Warehouse is moving to DFW! Finding mags locally is going to get a lot easier.
Soon to be a felony 10 + in Illinois. Basically if you have a Glock 19 you just can't put a 10 rounder in it. If it will take a 15 rd magazine-registration and $25.00 fee. SB 107 is going to cause a lot of problems. Illinois is also trying to pass an access to your social media accounts before they will issue an FOID card. Everything is starting to suck in this state!
That's why I don't cross the river anymore. I used to have to for work occasionally but not anymore so I steer clear. We used to apple pick and stuff over there as well...used to.
When taking apart a glock factory magazine you can damn near break your thumb trying to push off the bottom plate. The little ears on the bottom of the mag lock into the plate. The simplest way to take one apart without ripping the ears off is to either get you a padded pump action shotgun wrench that takes off the end cap or a par of adjustable pliers that you electrical tape up each jaw really well. Then you grab the sides of the magazine with the padded pliers and press in gently. While doing that take your punch, push in the floorplate button and torque in the correct direction. 5 seconds and its off.
I've been standing on my roof for 3 days now trying to tell people to get training from warrior poet society... Has anyone signed up from commie MA yet for the love of Pete!? It's freakin cold up here..
43x is the younger cousin to the 19 and 26..sure it may not be exactly compatible.and maybe you dont understand it. But as time passes the 43x will adapt, grow and eventually prove why it's part of the family. Love mine!
The weight of the base plate it going to have little effect on an empty magazine. The problem is the palm putting pressure on the base plate of a firearm with a short grip. Unlike the 43x.
Just my thoughts any pistol where the bottom of grip is not below the palm of your strong hand will cause some issue with the reload. This is why I will change to the 43x at some point.
Your intros are hilarious 😂 keep up the good work with the intros and of course always these great discussions. Enjoy what you all stand for and represent!
Get a G43 and a G48, you can swap the slides between those two guns so that you essentially have a G43x and a long slide 43. You can invest in mags for the 48 only thereby eliminating the need for additional 43 mags …it’s what I do.
For what its worth ( and may show my age), we use to epoxy a lead fishing weight in the base pad of Chip McCormick base pads for USPSA. It would give a fast drop and keep the mag a little more protected since the pad was more likely to hit the ground first. You may have to give up a round of capacity but it could make the lesser cost pad work well. That wedding shooting demo was amazing by the way.
Great vid John, and I like all of these extensions. I have a Pearse +1 on my G43 carry mag with the factory spring. It carries great, feels great, and it was cheap. I have run it a LOT with no failures.
My ole lady loves the 43 because it fits her hand better and her clothes are smaller... overall I don't find the difference in width of the guns to make enough difference to where I don't want to carry my 26 in favor of any of the single stacks
My little opinion even though you didn’t ask ME... I asked for the G43 and got the G26 instead. I have ended up really liking it and so often try to carry it instead of my G42, but it is significantly bigger. I would still like to get the G43 to have a 9mm that I can conceal in other places besides appendix. (I’m a kinda-skinny girl - takes some effort to hide the G26...) The width is a significantly big deal for me... also to consider is the very different grips between these 2!
@@Rosie_C My wife carries a G26. She sold her 43 because she couldn't get over the capacity difference... I carry a G19 but might go for the G26 for summer carry.
I'm here really late. I completely agree on the g43. Love the +3 Taran tach extentions, however the 6rd with the pinky extention is just right for my hand size.
I posted a while back about mic placement. While things are slightly better, that being a shure sm7b mic, it is a dynamic mic, and you really want to be about 1 inch from the foam windscreen. Youll notice that your voice has more of that "late night radio dj" sound. Its called proximity effect. I think it would do you wonders my friend.
I really appreciate your perspective and you do have valid points (ie shorter grip length for concealability) but it really sounds more like you’re trying to talk yourself out of buying a 43X by justifying the money that you’ve already spent. Which is cool, to each their own. But some counterpoints I have is, with my 43X, I’m not spending $35-$70 a magazine to purchase the magazine and install base pads. With that (I know I can train around it etc) the ergos on the base 43 make it difficult to transition to from a 19. That “Glock hump” is way too pronounced on the 43, unlike the 43X. So the 43x hit my wickets: comfort and capacity at an affordable cost. Your mileage is different from mine, so I figured I’d just provide you some perspective. Thanks for reading.
So is the difference in thickness between the G 43 and the G26 really that significant that you want to move to a whole new design with all the new gear you will need to support it? Personally I feel that the Glock single stack is a solution looking for a problem that never really existed.
Do the Taran extensions come with a new spring? If not, I think that is a weakness and added cost. And as to the Taran-eqipped mags falling free easier, that doesn't seem like too big of a selling point if you carry one extended mag as your backup and a stock mag as your primary. Unless you carry a backup backup mag, in which case you're back to the argument of, "If you've gone through 15 rounds and an emergency reload is the difference between life and death..."
The plus 2’s and 3’s come with springs...I carry a 43 cause my “man” parts are so enormous that I need a sub-compact to carry appendix;) ...the taran extension work well, but they are $
And if you want the extra length.. get a mag extension or use a longer mag. Totally agree with this post. With john for sure on the concealment. The OAH is the biggest issue. Glock 26 got that covered with the ability to carry a g19, or any other longer mag, as a backup.
My daughter wasnt happy with the springfield. I gave her , she wanted my Glock 43, with years of upgrades; so i gave it to her. I just bought a G48, now your making me miss my old G43.i have the most awesome holster for a G43, from Mike at LLOD in Colorado, but the holster is such an act of God to get one made I cant part with it
BUDDY get a couple shield arms 15 round steel mags for your g43x. they fit flush and hold 15 rounds and have turned my g43x into a mini slim version of my g19. literally any time i would usually want my g19, i can now use my g43x and have a smaller and lighter firearm with the same capacity and functionality.
Trick out the mag. The mag release on the G43 is made to be ambidextrous so if you are a righty like me then the mag thumb release is on the left so on the left of the magazine Dremel the stop like a ramp instead of square and then the mag will pop out much better.
if I stand on a roof will John come to tell me he's proud of me too?

I'm glad to see someone else has my sense of humor. Keep sending love down range.
"It's not doing it now that I show you." I tell my mechanic the same thing, but he still thinks I'm crazy.
This exactly why I like the 19/26 combo...I only need a few 26 mags for carry, but I have a ton of 19 mags and they work in both guns
19x mags will work in the 26 then right?
@@calebbroege1333 yes
@random Person i have the 19x and have only had a failure to eject on the very first round i put through the gun. Been good ever since
@random Person its good. I have one for that purpose. Still conceals with extra clothing and you get added capacity. I like having the shorter slide but still the 17 frame personally
@random Person just run the 19 then
I just bought the G48, my first glock as well, I’m enjoying it and have several times forgotten it was on.
That shotgun spinning party looks like a good time.
I love your Sportsman's Guide ads! Awesome stuff.
Bad news man
I live in Illinois and it sucks
That's why I don't cross the river anymore. I used to have to for work occasionally but not anymore so I steer clear. We used to apple pick and stuff over there as well...used to.
I cant wait until there is zero gun violence in Chicago now! .... Smdh, left Pekin and landed a southern state. Best decision ever
@Ghost Technically Illinois is still free as of now... There arent any assault weapons bans there yet...
Gay frogs turn the water brackish.
Thankfully it'll be 45 on Monday. Maybe. Sadly I have no money because I gave it all to the state government.
Maybe you should spend three days improving your personality.
Evan, buddy, you didn't change the world...but you did change me!
43x is the younger cousin to the 19 and 26..sure it may not be exactly compatible.and maybe you dont understand it. But as time passes the 43x will adapt, grow and eventually prove why it's part of the family. Love mine!
Well. This comment came true.
Also, pushing your ads with a Zach Galifianakis is brilliant!
The weight of the base plate it going to have little effect on an empty magazine. The problem is the palm putting pressure on the base plate of a firearm with a short grip. Unlike the 43x.
Thank you, Sir for your time, I really enjoy your videos.
Just my thoughts any pistol where the bottom of grip is not below the palm of your strong hand will cause some issue with the reload. This is why I will change to the 43x at some point.
You go above and beyond for your sponsor. That's awesome.
I'm gonna head over to Sportsman's Guide right now!
Your intros are hilarious 😂 keep up the good work with the intros and of course always these great discussions. Enjoy what you all stand for and represent!
Im not gonna lie i fell in love with my 43x
Me toooo
Even if there was a skip option I'd still watch your ad's.....very entertaining!
1:29 - The inset footage made my day, those dudes know how to party... until someone loses a foot... or a head, *chuckle* good times!
Ok, I know I am late to the game on your channel, but that was absolutely the funniest intro you have ever done I have seen yet!!! Lol
This is my favorite sportsman’s guide pitch...
Get a G43 and a G48, you can swap the slides between those two guns so that you essentially have a G43x and a long slide 43. You can invest in mags for the 48 only thereby eliminating the need for additional 43 mags …it’s what I do.
“I feel like this changes everything.”
“This doesn’t change anything.”
Haha classic 😂😂
For what its worth ( and may show my age), we use to epoxy a lead fishing weight in the base pad of Chip McCormick base pads for USPSA. It would give a fast drop and keep the mag a little more protected since the pad was more likely to hit the ground first. You may have to give up a round of capacity but it could make the lesser cost pad work well.
That wedding shooting demo was amazing by the way.
Evan I'm going to sportsman's guide now.
Hahaha
Are you guys serious?? That’s amazing
Me too
@@WarriorPoetSociety what is that red ring on your mags? Paint? Something else?
Always great videos John and great commercial.
Great vid John, and I like all of these extensions. I have a Pearse +1 on my G43 carry mag with the factory spring. It carries great, feels great, and it was cheap. I have run it a LOT with no failures.
You guys are great, that sales pitch was perfect
If width doesn't matter then what's your take on G26 vs G43?
Werin Ogaitnas asking the real questions here
My ole lady loves the 43 because it fits her hand better and her clothes are smaller... overall I don't find the difference in width of the guns to make enough difference to where I don't want to carry my 26 in favor of any of the single stacks
I love my G29. Similar to the 26. I prefer the extra width, but I am 6'2", 240#...
Great video, keep them coming! Just got my Glock 48 w/ factory NS yesterday!
"The width doesn't matter to me it's the length that does" - John
Girls statistically disagree. 😂
It's all about the motion of the ocean.
It's all about having naturally studded skin.
Intro was hilarious! Thank you sir!
John, you’re like the Mr Rogers of guns except you were really in special forces.
Your SG intro’s are epic. Appreciate the content!
Disclaimer: My wife has a few of the Vickers extensions for her G43. Me, I carry a man's gun. :)
Haha, an excellent point ‘Your Average Shooter’
The plus 2’s and 3’s come with springs...I carry a 43 cause my “man” parts are so enormous that I need a sub-compact to carry appendix;)
...the taran extension work well, but they are $

Yes, the TTI +2/3 come with extra long springs. The vickers come with new springs also.
Best sportsman guide intro yet!
I honestly just watch your videos for the Sportsmans Guide plugs...
Yup, kinda like the super bowl.
Please make sure that these intros keep coming I love it!
Just upgrade to the true "Baby" Glock & get you a G26 where you can use ALL of your other Glock Double stack mags. I call that one a smarter buy!
Wise man.
That's what I think as well
I never understood why anybody would prefer the 43 over the 26. it isn‘t really that smaller.
Ty J i’m right there with you.
And if you want the extra length.. get a mag extension or use a longer mag. Totally agree with this post. With john for sure on the concealment. The OAH is the biggest issue. Glock 26 got that covered with the ability to carry a g19, or any other longer mag, as a backup.
Vickers +2 worked for me. I wasn’t quite as professional (or quick) putting them on though. Mr. Poet, thanks for the vid.
Soooo why don’t you like the G48 or G43x? Clickbait you just talked about putting o a base pas cmon really
Seemed like a waste of time video to me. I did skip a lot ,so may have missed something.
He mentioned it; the mags of the 43 and 43X are not interchangeable. So he has a bunch for his 43, and none will work in the 43X.
My daughter wasnt happy with the springfield. I gave her , she wanted my Glock 43, with years of upgrades; so i gave it to her. I just bought a G48, now your making me miss my old G43.i have the most awesome holster for a G43, from Mike at LLOD in Colorado, but the holster is such an act of God to get one made I cant part with it
LOVE MY 43X. AND MY 19 BUT THE 43X IS AWSOME FOR CCW.
@@justsomemincedgarlic I HAVE ONE
@@justsomemincedgarlic Great gun...but IMO... grip length is way too long to be considered a subcompact
Just Win yeah that’s my only real complaint. It makes it way more comfy to shoot IMO but I still end up carrying the regular g43 more often.
@@justsomemincedgarlic Yeah...I go back and forth with my G26...mostly carry 26 for that reason...be safe brudah!
Get yourself a Shield Arms magazine and add 5 rounds without a mag extension.
If someone hasn't bought into glock yet, would you still advise them to go with the 43 over the 43x?
Eric Lee of those 2, I’d go with 43 and add extended if needed
@@gtdfirearmsllc4759 Sound dumb cause the extension added will basically be a 43x probably still will less rounds. 43x
144Soldier yeah - I have 9 rounds in mine. Just not worth buying another pistol, especially since I don’t use my 43 that much anyway.
@@gtdfirearmsllc4759 I feel you man.. Its really no competition, it's really based on what people prefer and comfortable with.
144Soldier sure, overall. I’m gonna he carrying my 19 unless I need to tuck 😎
Great timing for this vid
Looking at picking up a 43 tomorrow

Trick out the mag. The mag release on the G43 is made to be ambidextrous so if you are a righty like me then the mag thumb release is on the left so on the left of the magazine Dremel the stop like a ramp instead of square and then the mag will pop out much better.
