Several years ago, I wrote an ebook title, "If I Could Carry Only One Gun"
In the ebook, I talked about a particular Glock.
I'm currently working on an updated version of that ebook.
However, I get asked a lot: What is my favorite concealed carry Glock?
In this case, it would be the Glock 43x MOS.
    Here is why!

I love the 43x. I don't think it got as much praise and attention as it could have when it was first released. A lot of people are finally coming around to appreciating what it does for its price, frame size, feature set, and mag capacity. And it filled a gap in the market, which was a 10+1 out of the box at that frame size. I think the Shield was the closest at the time, and I really just didn't like the earlier version of the Shield.

If you get the S15 mag, remember that the metal mag release is NOT OPTIONAL. If you keep using the plastic one, it will get sheared off by the metal magazine over time, and your magazine will self-eject every time you fire a round. Ask me know I know!

Honestly, the G43x is the sweet spot that I have always been seeking. The LxWxH are spot-on for CCW; the weight is not even an issue and the magazines from Shield Arms complete the package. Then, you can opt for the MOS model to add a red dot, suppressor sights, and add a magazine well to boot. I am happy because now I can finally retire my G19 as it was a beast to carry.

I own both a 43x and 26 and I find myself carrying the 43x 90% of the time for several reasons. I find it way more comfortable in appendix bc of thickness differences. I also am more accurate with it in practice than the 26 but not by much. That being said using a 33 round mag with 26 at the range is fun. If I could only have one it would definitely be the 43x with shield arms package.

Nicely done. I love your “to the point” conversational style videos. I knew about the original G43 but hadn’t seen a review of the 43X which seems to be a huge improvement. But red dot on a small concealed carry? Never considered that. Is there any real benefit to having a 43X MOS if the installed front/rear sights are already good? I know very little about having what appears to be a bulky sight placed on compact/subcompact pistols.

When I went shopping for a Concealed Carry (CC) firearm, I looked at several to get a feel for the grip, trigger break and other features as my hands are not large but they are thick and meaty. Do your research and compile a list of quality firearms before you go shopping. My list consisted of 17 to choose from and even though the store that I went to did not have every one of them on my list, I still had a wide variety to look at.
Don't buy a SIG, Glock, Walther or Hellcat because John or Jane said so. _Find one that fits you as you will be the primary user of your next firearm._ After you have narrowed down your search from your list to just a few, only then can you choose by price, if that's what you wish, as you know that you will also have a quality firearm that fits your hands.

I love my p10s but I have an issue with the weight to firepower/ballistics compared to a Glock 19. It’s heavier. It’s way heavier than the 43x. Actually a Glock 17 is an ounce heavier than the P10s.
You can tell I’m thinking of a switch. Love that trigger guard and the trigger, but there is a real appearance of all out practicality with the Glocks that many other manufactures can’t quite reach. I had been resistant to the idea until recently.

I added a 43x MOS a while back. Still looking at red dot features and a set of better iron sights. I also have no problems with the trigger, as I’ve been familiar with Glock trigger characteristics for. 34 years. I may consider swapping the trigger shoe for something flat faced, however, cause the stock ribbed faces on these are almost akin to pressing your index finger pad against a dull axe. That’s my on,y complaint.

I've never had a Glock before and I am more of a rifle guy than a pistol guy but, I do have a carry conceal pistol that I do like. I have a Smith & Wesson M&P bodyguard .380 semi automatic pistol and I really like it because it is so small and easy to conceal. I know a lot of people don't like the .380 caliber for a ton of different reasons but I do so I will say that I have been keeping my eye on the Glock 42. The Glock 43 X does seem like a nice gun as well. I might have to take a look at that pistol. Nice channel and video, keep up the good fight!

The Glock 43X, especially with the 15 round mags, assuming you live in a Constitutionally abiding state, is a great carry gun. I’ve run a Gen. 4 Glock 27 with a G23 magazine and plastic filler piece for years which is roughly the format of the 43X plus a little width; I do like the benefit of being able to use all 357Sig/40S&W magazines as backup. 40s are required for work so you carry what you have to but I do like the 43x width; if 9mm becomes and option and 43X/48 is included I could see going that way because they have a 15 round capability with flush floor plate. One upside of the 27 is the biliary to go with a flat base mag and get quite small; thankfully I can still shoot well even with the flat bottom. I do like the full grip + short barrel setup as I’m a big guy 6’6” and have never had an issue concealing even carrying OWB, but will say the shorter barrel is nice as you can easily hide the length under a T-shirt whereas the compact length barrels + holster tend to stick down just a little too much, and can become visible.

      @libertarian1637 2 роки тому +1

@@HarryManback0: I know a lot of people that have one or more Glock 43X and/or 48s that use Shield Mags, assuming they’re the only brand as I don’t recall the name only the 15 round count, and none report issues; I am familiar with the mag release problem and believe all have swapped out to aluminum extended magazine releases. I’m a Glock armorer and have swooped a few and am amazed at people that change their own, though do appreciate it, as changing magazine releases is a pain in the butt, at least for me. While I like Glock and have carried them for years, not a 43X though as we’re required to carry 40S&W Glocks but do think the after market is actually doing better with Glock parts than Glock; parts used to be great and quite easy to keep on hand and stock but much like iPhone screens used to be easy when one worked on multiple models and years as they blew up so did Glock models, I some what miss when everything was basically the same, Gen. 2 & 3 time but after RTF and Gen. 4 then 5 then the minis came out Glock seems to not been able to keep up themselves, so I’m glad after markets have stepped up. I personally can’t speak to function or longevity more than I’ve never had a malfunction while shooting one, of the new mags in a Glock 43X, but could see a learning curve from some when switching to an all metal mag.
I know a lot of people that switched to 43X who like the gun but not the 10 limit that it comes with who have gone mad for the 15 round mags; like I said they don’t report issues and that’s over 100 mags between them. And believe me as one of only a couple armorers I’d hear about it. I like the size and have carried a Glock 27 for years with a G23 mag in it with a filler, no idea what company made it, which is about the size of the 43x, plus a little extra width. The 27 for me is hard to beat as it can be backed up with any 40S&W magazine and I’ve gotten used to the loss of a round or two, or more compared to 9mm.

I had several hundred rounds through the 4 mags I bought with zero issues out of 43x or 48. After 8 months of use being fully loaded for carry I had nothing but malfunctions when trying to get through 2 mags. I’m guessing the magazine Spring became too weak to push the rounds up. Since then I changed back to factory Glock mags and mag release and have had no problem. I personally would stick to the factory mags, 10 rounds is better than maybe 15 if it works.

Also, simplicity in operation/function. The more "Bob on the FOB" accessories you add to it, the more that can go wrong with it.

One is a microcompact with a compact length grip, and the other is full size gun with a compact slide(though I suppose with the shield arms mags it makes it a bit more of an apples to apples comparison, but I've also heard very mixed reviews of the shield mags.)
I do really like the sig x-series guns though. I wish they would have made a completely new frame when they made the 320 instead of using the same frames as the hammer fired p250, causing them to have an unnaturally high bore axis(though to be fair, I don't even notice it while shooting, and I suppose it would make transitioning from the hammer fired signs to the 320s less awkward.
I actually recently switched over to a sig p365xl from a glock 19, and I'm so glad I did. Can't believe it took me that long to switch over to a thinner/ smaller/more concealable gun.

@@SharkByteOfficial I'm 5ft 4 inches and around 158lbs and I have a husky build, so I can conceal my G26 with a G19 mag and Xgrip, TLR6 with no issues. I use a hybrid holster. The slimmer guns do weigh less though. I just picked up a P365XL and put the 15 round magazine and it still feels lighter than the G26 indeed.

In my younger days, my CCW was a Walther PPK/S. Basically a PPK slide on a PP frame. Fell in love with the G43X first time I held one in my hand. Basically a G43 slide on a G48 frame, same idea as the PPK/S, but much lighter and higher capacity. What's not to love?....

Bought the 43X, with Shield (Gen 1) mags, because of Colion's review. Happy so far.
