I installed this in my helmet this morning, took me nearly 2 hours. The instructions that come with it are poor. For example, where are those plastic tabs - where the wire from the battery unit goes in and wires for the speakers and control/mic come out - intended to slot? Also the design of the hardware itself is quite poor. Considering it's supposedly developed specifically for this helmet, why is there excess length in the wiring? So you end up with loops of wire and have to try to tuck it out of the way, under the rear part of the cheek pads. And the wires obstruct the gap between the outer shell and inner shell, where you slot the tabs for the cheek pads back in to secure those. Finally, the provided quick start guide does not tell the user how to pair the Sena SRL with their smartphone or GPS; I was forced to go on your website to look this up.
@@MX-Mug That makes a lot of sense about the excess wiring being for larger shell sizes, hadn’t thought of that. Tell ya what anyhow, it might’ve been a pain to install but it works well.
I’m ready to drop the asking price for seemless integration with my GT air 2. BUT not on this old tech. If you upgraded to an SRL3 that had USBC, mesh and buttonless native voice assistant (I.e, hey Siri). I would buy straight away. But not as it is. Would such a thing be in development?
Just got mine and I’m surprised that battery pack has no solod click position in the helmet. Not sure if this was designed like that, but yes im very disappointed.. I expected solid mechanism that will hold the bat pack in the helmet, not just some rubber in the back part..
This is great and I plan on picking up a GT-Air 2 as it's the first Shoei that I've found that I can actually fit into. But $300 added onto an already $600 (For base colors) helmet... Would be nice if you worked with Shoei and made a package deal and discounted it somewhat.
@@ernestchavez814 thanks, I didn't realize that. I would probably go shoei, shuberth, then hjc. look into the test videos. If you ride a BMW i recommend avoiding SENA srl 2. I have used it ( in a GT Air 2 ) most of this season. First bike a R1250RS and now on a R1250GS. All is paired and playing. The next morning, the Sena is completely gone from the connections or it is suddenly "passengers helmet". Then you need to remove all the connections, pair the bike an Sena again....and the next day...all over again. I don´t know if this is only a problem for BWM or if it is with other brands a well.
Hello, I have brand new SRL Mesh in brand new GT Air 2. Helmet is very loud and the volume of SRL is not enough. Biggest problem is that I absolutely do not hear the beeps during ride, so I don't know what I pressed and for how long. Is it possible to radically increase volume of the beeps?
I am a little disappointed in the modder community, I plan on modding a Bluetooth headset setup into this helmet using the pre cut channels and potentially mounting on the triangle cutout just using small screws to hold into place, then for the best part pretty sure I can fit 18650 batteries into the rear compartment, also may modify the chin strap to D ring because the ratchet clip system is odd.
I have a problem. I wish to update the software on my Sena SRL2 using the USB cable connected to one of the main USB ports on my iMac. When I connect it, the SRL won't switch on so the system isn't recognised. Do you have a solution for me? Thanks very much 👍
How does the mic and speakers compare on the srl2 to the 20s Evo? Are they similar in quality? I am looking at getting either the RF1200 helmet or the GT Air 2 and would like to know how they compare
Anyone knows what the default action is when you say "play music" ? Is it trying to find mp3 on your phone, or use a specific app? I couldn't find this anywhere, only that you could "play music".
Hi. For the SRL2, the voice command "Stereo" or "Music" after the "Say a command" voice prompt will automatically open the default music app or the last used music app on the phone and play the current music track. Thanks.
Why not pay less for a cardo slim with Mesh network and get the original GT Air? It gets you the same premium helmet with better tech and a lower price. I'm very disappointed. I passed on the SRL and Neo-Tech combo but I had somewhat of an understanding because it was new helmet and the comms unit was built upon a tested and proven technology from the previous line of Sena comms. But now they did the same mistake again even though mesh is the new gold standard. Poor choice Sena. I'm disappointed.
This is a partnership with Shoei and we both hope to continue the expand the line while allowing more integration for a sleeker helmet look and performance. There are also some advantages to the new Gt-Air II - Longer internal visor, better vents, and even a spoiler like edge to the front reducing wind noise.
@@senatechnologies I really hope your relationship does not continue if this is the best you can contribute to a brand like @shoei. The SRL2 is a mediocre and poor quality product with very poor audio quality and poor performance for an exorbitant price.
Basically it is a $1000 dollar helmet, because you can’t just get Cradle and move the com unit between multiple helmets in your home. That is why I bought another GT-Air with a cradle and saved huge money. Shoei and SENA need to get the cost down on these things to be $699 inclusive because you are being forced to buy multiple com units. Bad show

I'm going to buy a GT-AIR II but I will NOT install an intercon such SRL2 because it's really old about technology (4.1 BT, no real vocal commands like HEY SIRI or OK GOOGLE). Look is the only positive point but it's not enough. Much better a Cardo Packtalk, Bold or Slim, which are ages forward to Sena
so sena instead of getting their products waterproof, they fuck with shoei in order to get them a special helmet to hide their devices. guess what? cardo is so much better
Unless you plan on buying this new Sena unit that is $300 don't waste $650 on the Shoei GT-AIr ll. Is is NOT compatible with any other Sena or any other brand bluetooth comm. Learned the hard way. Helmet since returned and Shoei helmets are no longer an option for me.
I'm certainly impressed with the way this GT Air 2 is designed to fit the Sena. Coming from AGV Pista GP R and Shoei X14, I know it can be a pain in the ass to install the speakers and mic and reroute the cable. I get used to it after several times though. And while both helmets aren't designed to include specific bluetooth devices like this GT Air, I like X14 designs better. Cut out hole for speakers is a big plus.
