    The Shoei GT-Air II is a great touring helmet, but match it with the SRL2 audio system from Sena and it becomes a fantastic touring helmet. I like to use comms units, but having something bolted to the side of your helmet isn't ideal, particularly from a safety point of view. In this video, I show you how to install the components and then run through their use and performance.
    *The audio does get quieter from 03:44 onwards. I had a problem where it sounds fine in Final Cut Pro, but is quiet when exported. Sadly I couldn't find a solution and this is the best I could do*

    Clearer and louder than the cardo unit I had previously.

    Be careful with the installation of each part of the harness, e.g. it's best to plug the mic socket into the speaker socket BEFORE plugging the speaker into its recess else you may break the tiny socket when it's already in the narrow and shallow channel. Also, the two antenna triangles don't just "snap into place", they have to be slid up from below the helmet else the two retaining tabs could break if you try to snap it in from the side.

    The system looks easy to fit but I'd be concerned about the lack of adjustability on the speaker position. I usually find I have to move speakers further forward and a bit lower to accurately centre on my ear canal, which makes a huge difference to the volume and sound quality.

      Yep, it sounded fine in Final Cut Pro, but something odd was happening when I exported it. I changed some audio settings and re rendered it (3 times!) and although its a little quiet in that section at least I don’t sound like a Dalek now. Wind noise is pretty good, not the quietest helmet view tried, but pretty good

    I have custom made earplugs, and planning buying ones with integrated earphones, however these comms don't have a headphone jack which is a real shame... I just bought this helmet because it was on offer and I know its good, however I can't buy these comms if I want to do the set up I'm talking about. I've always found the sound of my current comms (cardo scala) to be very low when wearing my custom earplugs. Not sure what you think. I'll most likely end up buying the Sena SF4-01 which has a headphone jack, however I'll miss out on the integration...
    Nice videos BTW, subscribed

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  3 роки тому +1

      Yes that is a drawback of the integrated system. I have set of custom moulded monitor earplugs and used them with my Sena 30k, the benefit is still getting rid of the harsh external noise, but also being able to turn the comms down to a very low level and still getting clear audio. I also have a pair of 'ported' moulded plugs that cut noise levels at 30db instead of 35db. They work well with comms speakers too, although I've never had an issue with the SRL2 and my earplugs tbh

    Another kind of question here. If i ride mainly with the same person how do i connect to that person? And also, do i need to push a button before speaking or do i just speak and the set senses me talking and swithing on/connecting to other person?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  3 роки тому

      Good questions. When connectign to another rider you both put your comms in pairing mode and they connect. You can set up a number of linkd devices with the app, so that connection is almost automatic going forward. Once you have an active connection you can just speak with the other person as you would do normally. Just like being on a constantly open phone call.

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  3 роки тому +1

      Its because of the form of the unit, the control in the SRL needs to be small to fit in the side housing, so they move the battery pack to an external location. The 10s is a bigger unit so the battery pack can stay in the main unit of the device.

    I just bought the Shoei........ pricey, but a quality lid, so worth it. However, the sena unit is waaaaaaaaay overpriced, you are paying a *very* hefty premium for it's custom fit for that lid, but Sena seems to come a distant 2nd to Cardo in most reviews and, as you say...not even a jog dial.
    First rate lid with a nice fitting, but 2nd rate comms. You can buy exactly the same internal electronics in a chinese comm unit on Amazon for less than £50......with jog wheel, too. You are paying over £200 simply for the custom fitting. The Sena needs to be £100 cheaper, and even then they would be making a tasty profit!

The jog dial is far superior to the crappy buttons, which I can never seem to get right and have difficulty finding with gloves on! I know you know what I mean. The Neotec 2 is also quite a noisy helmet which is a shame. I want to consider the GT-AIR 2 but fear my time is up with Shoei after hearing mixed reports on the GT2’s noise levels. All is great on this combo, as far as your review went, but you didn't play music, these speakers have 0 base, I mostly listen to country and I still find I would like a little more base, if you listen to hip hop or any music with any sort of base I think you will be really upset with the music quality at that price. With modern speakers as they are they really could have done better here.

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  Рік тому +1

      To be honest it wasn't a priority for me. Whilst i do occassionsally listen to music when I ride, I don't expect to get the same experience I would with the kind of headphones I'd wear ro enjoy music. These are plenty good enough I think. Deep base generally requires bigger and therefor thicker drivers, which all takes up space. Riding in traffic with 'thumping bass' is I don't think a great idea.

    Can the speakers be upgraded?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  3 роки тому

      I don’t think they can. Sena recently released some new High Definition speakers, but the SRL 2 isn’t on the list of compatible devices

  • @philiplambert6247
    @philiplambert6247 3 роки тому

    I purchased the helmet, which was fantastic, However the SENA SRL2, was terrible. i also own the SENA 30 and it is far superior to this unit. The static in the speakers was horrible, and the speaker system sucks. when on my bike i can barely hear my music, and i cant even hear my phone ring at all.

      That’s not good to hear (no pun intended) I’ve not had any of those problems in the time I’ve been using it. The unit still performs well. Might be worth checking the unit out and getting in touch with Sena, as it could be faulty?

    The installation process has a big mistake or a few seconds of video are missing. After clicking in the side parts and inserting the cheek pieces, suddenly all cables are gone. Why don't you explain this exactly? The cables have to go around the plastic rails between lining and helmet. But how does nobody explain. Thumbs down

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  3 роки тому +6

      Nope no mistake, you'll notice that I mention tucking the wires away before putting the cheek pads in. I showed it on one side, and to save some time didn't show the other side, which is exactly the same. I gave people watching the credit that they'd be smart enough to work that out. But thanks for the thumbs down anyway.
