That is a stage full of hall of famers. Prince stands out regardless of company. Virtuoso
Prince was more than gifted. He was a musical prodigy. He could play SEVERAL instruments and he was SELF TAUGHT!
Prince played 20+ instruments, produced, wrote, sang & played every single instrument on many of his albums, inlcuding his 1st at 19 year old. He was a musical, vocal & performance genius.
Did you know he went to college on a Basketball scholarship?
Apparently Paisley Park had one heck of a court inside
This is a tribute to George Harrison of the Beatles. It was his song. That’s George’s doppelgänger son Dhani over Tom Petty’s left shoulder. Prince shreds in this video!! 🎸
I just love how much Prince and Dhani are smiling at each other during the whole second half of the song...almost like they are sharing the musical spirit and love of George between them...which I guess you could say that they literally are since they are playing his song...
The looks between the 2 were just adorable. Dhanis smile lit up the room. Prince came over - kicked ass - went home!
That’s a GOAT Jeff Lynne of ELO with the sunglasses & hat & the unmistakable voice
There is an article where they talked to Tom Petty about this performance. It’s a great tribute to who Prince was as guitarist. Petty said Jeff Lynne kept stepping up to do all the solos in practice, so Prince just said he would take the outro and left the practice. He practiced by himself and they weren’t sure how he was going to play it. You can see him looking at Petty, for guidance. Prince didn’t bow to anyone, but he still wanted to be respectful to Harrison and his induction to the HoF. Petty absolutely encouraged him to continue on because he knew what he was watching. Great guitarists recognize other greats because they understand what they are doing. It also didn’t help that Prince felt snubbed by the Rolling Stone Magazine on their top 100 guitarists of all time list and some of those people were in the audience so he was saying F U to their list
Edited to correct myself:
It was Marc Mann who kept stepping in not Jeff Lynne
Yeah, he'd never heard the song before being asked to perform, only listened to it a couple of times, then was like "fuck rehearsal, I'll just turn up and be epic" and so it was!
It wasn't Jeff Lynn it was Marc Mann
@@yousexymf thanks for the correction. I just went back and re-read that article and was coming to correct myself
But now I get to also reply to someone named “yousexymf” and that made my day 😍
@@christielysdale1815 I'm a big Prince fan and my name is from his song Sexy MF lol
I don't think he was looking at Petty. I think he was looking at Harrison's son Dhani.
No comparison between Prince and Michael Jackson. Jackson was a great entertainer while Prince was a musical genius in a class of his own. Just based on the amount of instruments Prince played and songs he wrote for himself and other artists put him light years ahead of most.
Preach. Also, you know, didn't share his bed with little boys and that's most definitely a point in his favour.
Yep! I was a Prince fan since his 1st album came out when I was in middle school. I was always team Prince, Michael couldn't compare with Prince on many levels.
armony, melody, arrangment, quotations, production, please, don't compare with MJ. prince was something else. you can like it or not, but they were something else. both half black, both 80', but please, don't compare.
Exactly
Facts!!
Prince 100% was unapologetically himself! Exactly what I love about him too!! And YES, MORE PRINCE ON THE CHANNEL!!! You can’t go wrong with Prince!
that swaaaaaaaaagar was off the chain! Prince's entire performance was everything. The guitar toss at the end is too much. loved it.
there's a long nice story behind this. prince not mentioned in rolling stone's guitarists chart, the fact that he didn't show up for rehearsals, the fact that he only told george's son "I will try to put a smile on your face". his majesty.
Prince threw his guitar to God to hold for him til he got there. I saw him 3 times in concert 💜💜💜
@@MrMCCONNELL74 I know, I was just kidding.
Wow you are very lucky, I tried for years and was never able to score tickets, always sold out!
Wrong version of the video. lol
Above all else, Prince was a master musician. He could literally play any instrument and was during his lifetime the only person on the cover of guitar, bass, drum and keyboard magazines. Prince was truly gifted like no other and put in the hard work to become an icon. He also excelled at songwriting, arranging, band leadership, production and of course he was an amazing vocalist with a huge range. In his early years, Prince was a hell of a dancer.
Prince… probably the most underrated/under appreciated guitarist of all time 🔥🔥🔥
This was when George Harrison was inducted into the 2004 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Great tribute to George & this is one of his best songs that he wrote. Dhani Harrison (George's son) was playing guitar with all the other mega stars that night. Sadly we have lost Tom Petty & Prince now.
It’s still so sad. We also lost Bowie and Chris Cornell within the same year.
Prince was also inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that night. That's why he was there
Prince stole the show and throws his quitar and walks off while dressed so sharp❤🎉
I love your reaction ♥️ Prince could do it all! I have watched this 100 times, but it makes me sad. Knowing he's no longer with us😥
The amount of talent that Prince had in that little body was just difficult to comprehend!
He tossed his guitar straight to heaven and said, "hold this for me"
You need to watch another live video of Prince performing “nothing compares to you” at Paisley Park it’s amazing!
21 instruments! Prince knew how to play 21 instruments. The guy was not of this earth!
Love this tribute...George Harrison from the Beetles wrote this. The young man playing guitar is Harrison's son. He looks just like his Dad..♥️
You have thee best reaction to this song, hands down!! ..
“And then he got his leg strength back like Bambi” ! Dying dying dying!! 💕💕
Some of the best guitarists on that stage❤
Prince agreed to do this because he had a huge respect for Tom Petty and wanted to work with him. The other guitar player (he’s with the band ELO) didn’t want him there because he felt Prince would overshadow him, but Tom Petty did want him there and no one argued with Petty.
Both were 🐐🐐 in their own way.
The media always said Prince and M.J hated each other. Then I saw an interview with one of Prince's friends. He said when they told Prince in rehearsal M.J passed Prince stopped rehearsal for 2 days and wouldn't come out of his room. He called his friend asking him to come there. His friend said they stayed up all night while Prince talked about Micheal and his talent. Why does the media want us to hate each other?
This is just the tip of the iceburg with Prince! Start digging and you'll find an unmatched wealth of Musicology.
Both Prince and George Harrison were being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that night
A beautiful tribute. ❤
Yes, pls def ✔️ out more Prince. 💜
George Harrison wrote this when he was with The Beatles and Eric Clapton played lead guitar on the original.
Dhani Harrison is also on stage behind Petty's left shoulder, clone of his dad. Steve Winwood on organ, Tom Petty-vocals, blonde, Jeff Lynne-vocals in hat from ELO, the others I believe are from Tom's band, I recognize Mann wailing on his guitar, and of course, his royal badass. 💜
George, Petty, Lynne, Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan formed The Traveling Wilburys, look up those last 2, or listen to their music. Hence, the tribute as George was being inducted in RnR Hall of Fame posthumously as a solo artist, he's in there as a Beatle too.
Of all the songs The Beatles wrote, especially the dynamic writing duo of Lennon and McCartney, it is this one the quiet Beatle wrote that is my fav!! ❤
Treasure this one, with Petty and Prince gone now... 😢
The song is by The Beatles. It’s on the self titled album, most often referred to as “The White Album”.
It was written and sung by George Harrison.
This was recorded at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame festivities in 2004.
George Harrison and Prince were both inducted.
This performance was a tribute to Prince.
Jeff Lynne = ELO
Tom Petty = Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Traveling Wilburys, and solo artist.
Steve Winwood = Traffic, The Spencer Davis Group, and solo.
Dhani Harrison, George’s son is playing front and center.
I second all the Prince suggestions for songs n that he was a musical genius. I wanna add.." I wanna be Your Lover"
Also, Prince was inducted that same night and had his performance to do
So much incredible talent on that stage, and then Prince comes out and steals the show! He was amazing. Rest in peace.
Is that why he was there? I thought it was a tribute performance.
@@snakeinthegrass7443 It can be both
It was a tribute to Harrison but Prince also stole the show
@@christielysdale1815 You missed my sarcasm. You don't pay tribute to someone by coming out and trying to steal the show from some of the biggest legends in music who are paying tribute to their friend and another musical genius. Why would he do that? Not very classy imho
@@snakeinthegrass7443 I apologize I don’t have good sarcasm radar.
I do believe that he stole the show, but I don’t believe that was his intention. I posted a comment earlier that speaks to that.
There's a song off of Prince's debut album from 1978 called "I'm yours." I didn't hear it until probably mid 80's. Not long after Purple Rain came out. Up until then I thought Price was a really good guitarist. Then I heard that. I realized, no, he's not just really good. That guy was amazing. So, fast forward decades later to this performance, I was not in the least bit surprised.
Yes, he had a lot of rock guitar from the beginning. It fits the era...for ex, Van Halen 1 came out in 1978, Prince's 1st album came out ~ 1 yr later. Of course he knew earlier guitarists back to Chuck Berry & Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, funk guitar etc, but he would've known how guitar had evolved into hard rock, too. He was really special.
Need to watch him doing - Play That Funky Music White Boy he really shows out on that one!!!
The first fellow that started singing in this song was Tom Petty. Check out his song Wont Back Down.
This was great! I was watching when the genius that Prince is just slayed!
This is my absolute favorite video and version of this song. So much amazing talent on one stage!
The song was written by George Harrison of the Beatles and it's from their White Album. The original guitar solo was by Eric Clapton (Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek & The Dominos.
Prince stole the show! I just wish he would have sang to it would have been even more epic.
Prince was a phenomenal guitar player! Another awesome musician we lost way too early! Dhani Harrison who is the young kid playing acoustic guitar is the spitting image of his father. It freaks me out sometimes. Jeff was the lead singer and founder of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was his band. We lost Tom a few years back and Steve Winwood on keyboards. Winwood has had quite a few bands and has been part of different bands since the 60s but now he’s kind of just a solo artist. These are some of the top dogs of the rock world that I grew up with.
Prince had swag, he was a show-nuff boss!
Prince had the confidence MJ wished he had.
MJ was clearly mentally ill and way too much weird scandal followed him around which was never really disproven. Truthfully, I was turned off by his baggage.
Prince is the greatest! R.I.P 💔💜
Prince was certainly a damn Prince! Did you see how pimp walked off the stage? He owned his shit like nobody’s business!!
He was so awesomely creative and artistic. He loved performing so much that he was known for showing up at a local jazz club, after a long ass concert and continue playing until he shut the club down. RIP Prince!
Omg! I didn’t realize how much George’s son looks like him!
If I were presented with the question:
Michael Jackson vs. Prince,
My vote is Prince by far. He could do it all!
The guy could play at least 27 instruments, wrote all his songs, arrangements, production and of course rocked that shit!
He also wrote songs for many other artists as well.
Great reaction. this song was originally released in 1968 by the Beatles. You have to listen to the original George Harrison is awesome.❤️✌️🌼
"Blouses"! 😂🤣 Best thing about Prince, no ego. On a stage with various legends (himself included), in the back waiting for his part.
As far as MJ v Prince...each was genius in their own way, so I don't think you'd could really compare them head-on.
You should react to Little Red Corvette, Kiss, Raspberry Beret and/or Purple Rain. Love Prince he was very talented.
add his song 'Cream' to that list. it is fire.
Prince!!!!! Next: "Baby I'm a Star"!!!!!!
Prince plays multiple instruments and wrote most of his own music. Sometimes just him singing and playing all the instruments on a song.
Other great live Prince performances:
Prince and the revolution 1985 American Music Awards “Purple Rain.” Prince at his most popular moment in music gives us the rock star performance we needed.
Prince covers radiohead’s “Creep” with two killer guitar solo’s during Coachella 2008.
Prince sings/raps “Gett Off” live MTV awards 1991. This sexy number with a sexy staging based on Roman orgies features barely covered women and men acting as if they are doing some sort of orgy. But it fits the song lyrics.
Prince on the Arsenio Hall show 1991 performs a mash up of “ let’s go crazy” and “Kiss.”
Prince performs “D.M.S.R. “ Live 2004 musicology tour. At his is jam performance.
All these can be found on UA-cam.
You made a very deep comparison/contrast of Prince and MJ. You're right Prince was comfortable with who he was, MJ was not. WOW!
Ok Sceez..you have a great personality.. Thanks for that!😉
Fun fact... when George wrote songs for the Beatles, he would call his friend Eric Clapton to play guitar.
Sceez u must check out this performance by Prince, off the meter!! Guitar solo INSANE ''Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain (Live in Syracuse, March 30, 1985)''
Prince 💜😪🥀 he looked sooo damn good that night.
You have to mention why this performance came together.
Love from Princes home State of Minnesota!!
Check-out Prince live at the 2005 NAACP awards show, u won't be disappointed
Prince is the BOSS !!
While My Guitar Gently Weeps was written by George Harrison~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a TON of top talent on that stage but Prince had more natural talent than all of them combined.
By this time Prince was like “i have different rules, I’m Prince” and everyone was like “nah we good with that king, go ahead” lol
Echo Ear buds..latest release.. A Boon..deffo abso!
You are right on target re: Prince being himself! 💜💜💔💔💔💔😥😥😥😥
My favorite!!
BACK STORY: about 3 days before this gig, Rolling Stone Magazine dropped there top best 100 Guitarist list, and they didn't put Prince in the top 100 and I think he had made the list every year before. So it pissed Prince off and he told George's son(the one that was smiling, he knew what was about to happen), that he was going to go off on his solo, because a writter for Rolling Stone was there covering this story of course. And at the end he just threw the guitar up and his guitar man that packs his stuff an tunes his guitars caught it, and Prince walks out the backdoor and leaves......period, ha.
Tom Petty (The Heartbreakers, The Traveling Wilburys) - lead vocals, guitar
Jeff Lynne (ELO, The Traveling Wilburys) - co-lead vocals, guitar
Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith) - organ
Dhani Harrison - guitar, backing vocals
Jeff Young (Jackson Browne) - piano
Marc Mann (ELO, Oingo Boingo) - lead guitar
Scott Thurston (The Motels, The Heartbreakers) - bass
Steve Ferrone (AWB, Duran Duran, The Heartbreakers) - drums
Jim Capaldi (Traffic) - persussion, tambourine
Prince - soul, swagger, heat, sexiness
George Harrison - spiritual guidance
Eric Clapton - blues inspiration
Jimi Hendrix - cosmic influence
I agree with you about Prince v. MJ. Also, Prince was just simply a music genius. He played like 12+ instruments, at the top level mind you. He'll be missed.
If u like the beginning of this ur going to lose ur mind when prince comes in. Haha
Hey skeez look at your numbers. Missed ya. Missed this one. Always perfect reaction. Stay well isrealite.
Prince was so comfortable in his own skin he would say that he could show up to the club in a dress and walk out with your girl
The GOAT 🐐
Sceez, you need to react to Princes SuperBowl HalfTime Show. I just watched it a couple days ago. He plays his guitar the whole time. It was fire. Cant remember the year. Im sure it will come up. FYI It was a reaction I watched and it did not get blocked on that channel
Prince - Hold my beer
Try The Traveling Wilburys. It has a Beetle, Tom Petty, Roy Orbinson, ect. It's a supergroup
I love your reactions😂❤🎉
Now you have to do some Prince music reactions, may I suggest Little Red Corvette for his dance moves or his iconic song Purple Rain
Prince is going home with your girl.
If you Love music you should know Tom Petty. 💛
Mane you funny af 😂
Shout out to Bertha.
🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think you got so excited you did not comment on why the guitar did not fall back down.
✨💜✨
😎✨️
Where have you been your funny Dude 😂
Prince was/is one of the world's greatest guitarists in the world. He was overlooked because of his swagger and for not getting pushed around to fall into any force standard.
His style was heavily influenced by Santana here is a good song to get acquainted with ua-cam.com/video/H268AbDm368/v-deo.html
He threw the guitar to his guitar tech
ADAM LEVINE PURPLE RAIN
You love ELO so I'm glad you singled out Jeff Lynn, now you know why you liked his vibe. "the guy with the glasses"
That guitarist you loved is Stevie Winwood. Honestly, there is not a person on that stage who isn't a legend in their own right
Winwood was on the keyboards. The first guitar solo was done by Mark Mann of ELO.
Your comments truss fall, caught the holy ghost, srength in knees like bambi...😂
React to “Get Off” by Prince
Very fair. As MJ4L as I am, Prince was 1/1! 💜
Bro...u MUST CHECK OUT PURPLE RAIN...LIVE IN SYRACUSE...LIKE..85..OR SOME SHIT...MAYBE 83
If that cover doesn't touch, in Sal Khan's words, you have no soul.
That might look like a trust fall but honestly I think his hip went out but he made it look so cool anyway LOL.
I had my hip replacement last year and honestly it's the best thing ever... I think if hed done it he might be alive today.
