    This tutorial has changed filming vlogs for me. I've been experimenting with vlogging (on a different channel) using my Sony A7IV, but had been failing miserably. The gimbal was too much of a hassle, IBIS didn't provide sufficient stabilization, and Catalyst destroyed the quality of my footage. Recording in 4K 50p, stabilizing in Gyroflow, and adding motion blur with the ReelSmart Motion Blur plugin from RE:Vision Effects (I don't have Resolve Studio, so I needed to find a different way to add motion blur) finally gave me the butter-smooth stabilization with perfect quality. Highly recommend this method!

      I need to correct myself, when I was writing IBIS I meant Active Steadyshot. I shoot with non-Sony lenses, that is Tamrons, Sigmas, Samyangs. I just discovered the Active Steadyshot is sh*t with third party lenses, but apparently looks buttery smooth with Sony lenses. Found a comparison in this video if anyone is curious ua-cam.com/video/toe3ou_2oFw/v-deo.htmlsi=Wf0W8xmgVPbwZ0Fs

      Hello. Active Steadyshot uses IBIS+electronic stabilization. Many Sony lenses also have optical stabilization on top of that. BUT notice the additional crop in the left video. You can crop like this in post and probably get a better result, so... Honestly, using Gyroflow and no camera stabilization is way better, and you control do crop in post. Thanks for the comment. Really appreciate it. Cheers!

    Just a note - the a7 IV's Active SteadyShot doesn't work on non-Sony lenses. Using it with a non-Sony lens will just result in it cropping into the image a bit - but without any additional stabilisation over the normal SteadyShot.

      Hello. Really? Didn't know that. I was under the impression that it's an electronic stabilisation feature. It does feel more stable even on non-Sony lense though ;) Thanks for the comment. Really appriciate it. Cheers!

    Gyroflow has Linux version while Sony Catalyst Browse does not. A dream come true for Linux user. 😀

    It you want to use the final video in a 24fps timeline at real speed, is it still preferable to shoot in say 60P 1/200 shutter or 24fps at 1/200?

    • @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens
      @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens  4 місяці тому

      Hello. If you're not slowing down the video, then definitely 24fps. The shutter speed depends on how shaky the video will be. For smooth camera motion or steady camera, use 1/50s. Otherwise 1/200s for Gyroflow. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

    Hi, I just spend 2 hours right clicking and editing all my videos one for one from the Gyroflow render que, but when I was done I reopened a video to edit it and the stabilisation was set back to 17.4 instead of 8... how do I solve this? Or do I need to edit it, select another clip and leave the other one (because I don't know if it's edited right then). Thank you for your response in advance!

      Hello. To be honest, I use Gyroflow only as a plug-in in Davinci Resolve. There is no need to use it separately in my case. Maybe try exporting every video separately. Sorry for the weak response. Cheers!

      @@M1R0_Life_through_a_lens It was my fault... didn't click 'save' hahaha... but now installed Gyroflow as a plugin, but I struggling 2 hours to get .mp4 files in to Davinci... Do you know how to do it?

      @M1R0_Life_through_a_lens  2 місяці тому

      @samvandillen you import the media in the media section or just drag and drop the files on to the timeline.

    Hi, I understand that it works with Sony cameras without a gyroscope, but is it worse? I also saw on the left that you need to manually specify the lens for better stabilization, do you do this?

    What about cine cameras that dont have gyro data? How do they stabilize handheld footage? They don't record with a GoPro simultaneously.

      Hello. Two ways: film with 120fps and slow it down or use a gimbal. Sony is not very good with incanera stabilization. Lumix wins in this category over other cameras. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

    Great Video! I don't know why it doesn't stabilize the footage for me or it does it but it is almost unnoticeable. I recorded a video with a Sony ZV-1 Gen 2 at 4K 30 fps. :))
