I bought my Tamron G2 for the A7C (1) late 2023, cost me around 550 USD. Later on I started using the combo for concerts and it’s super solid 💪It stays on for 70-80% of the event, I can’t help it 😁 If Sigma II had been around late 2023 with a similar price, I’d buy it!
I wanted to wait for this comparison video however, I was in a rush and bought Tamron. I'm from Kazakhstan and the prices are 1275$ for sigma and 780$ for Tamron. Two main reasons were the price (500$) difference and the size/weight, Tamron is much lighter and since I got a7cii and I wanted to be compact and light. Overall, I'm satisfied with the lens, but I got the same issue with autofocus. Sometimes it's super sharp and when it is not in the good mood, it focuses as bad as in the video.
The Art lens is better in any way in my opinion. But the Pricepoint (i paid around 530€) of the Tamron is so appealing regarding the experience and quality delivered at that pricepoint. Though if you would like to upgrade to the first super high quality lens regarding image quality, I'd easily tell people to get the Sigma.
Kensei-san, Finally i have bought my very first camera. i end up buying Sony A7IV with kit lens. although im starting with this hobyy. i was already blown away with the images i took, and i dont even know what those symbols in lcd means 😅(still learning). now watching more of your lens content makes me wanna crave for more lens. oh god my wife loved the portraits i took of her but wont definitely be happy once she know the price of this hobby.
I’m happy you posted this, as I recently bought the tamron g2 as an upgrade for my sigma 28-70 contemporary. The image quality is better from the tamron by about 15-20%, but I was having the same auto focus issues… which is a bit of a deal breaker. Now I don’t know weather to stick with what I already have … the Sigma 28-70 or fork out for the sigma 24-70 art ii. Or wait and see if there is a firmware upgrade 🤷🏽♂️
Tough one in regards to Price-Performance-Ratio: Sigma is 1.349 Euro, Tamron only 849 Euro. But if you buy the Tamron in Combination with a Sony A7 IV, it's only 549 Euro.
If you need a travel, lightweight lens Sigma 28-70. If you need a "workhorse, you don't mind beating up" Tamron 28-75, they got 6yrs warranty. If you need the best bang for the buck Sigma 24-70 ii. If you one of those guys w/ money who always buy the new sh*t get the Sony GM 24-70 ii. Simple... I personally own the 35-150 f2-2.8, because it's super useful in a lot of scenarios (both video and photo).
Hey Kensei ! Sorry that the question is out of context of the video, but I need your opinion. I have the option to choose between the ZV-E1 with the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 or the FX30 with the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 + Sigma 16mm f1.4 (or the Viltrox 13mm f1.4) . Since I’m just starting my career as a videographer and plan to shoot music videos and social media content, which setup would you recommend?
Anybody who reads this. used A7iii at 1000$ (friend selling) or brand new FX30 at 2500$ ? (this is the price in France) This is for shooting videos only and I intend to shoot wedding videos (and more). My total budget is around 4500$ to create my gear. I've practiced over 2 years on a EOS M50 iii. thanks a lot
Fx30 is the perfect choice. Don’t invest in full frame if you’re planning shooting video only. Apsc lenses with the fx30 will be way cheaper. Sony a7iii is too outdated now. Invest the rest in lenses/lights/microphone etc. I have a Sony a7cii, difference in video quality is unnoticeable between fx30 and any high end fx3/a7rv/a7cii/a7cr
@@cheloronaldo My research over the few weeks since I posted this confirm your answer. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. getting the FX30 this month
@@markofadljevic1975 I don't regret not taking the A7iii for sure. Sacrificing 10 bit was worse imo. But at the end of the day, simply comparing APS-C vs Full frame with similar specs, of course Full frame wins.
I had Tamron 28-75 G2 VXD for several weeks and can confirm that autofocus is very slow and not precise compared to sigma 28-70 and Sony 28-60. I am doing in general family fotos with kids. I sold tamron even I liked IQ and thinking now again to buy sigma 28-70 or Sony 24-50.
If you are gonna do video first then photo just chose tamron. But I cant say for certain because I have not used the newer sigma. But what I can say is that tamron definitely has better glass for video stuff. The sigma is just too contrasty and the focus roll off or what ever is too harsh. There is something soft but sharp like a cine glass about the tamron but the build is plastic so some may not like it. I have had this lens for like 3-4 years and its amazing. Also better autofocus than the older sigma in videos, cant say anything on the newer one. But be careful full because the front glass does get scratched easily. I am thinking about getting a new one.
Thanks for watching!
...But please wait a little more for the vlog.
I will post it ASAP 👍
hey! would you mind helping me pick between the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN art (version 1)
and the tamaron 28-75 G2?
can not decide between sigma 24-70mm V1 vs tamron 28-75mm g2😭
Fantastic review! Important details that no one else talks about ! Thank you my friend!
I have had the 28-75 2.8 and 17-28 2.8 for several years and they are stellar for the money. I now have the G2 and it is even better.
Looking forward for Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 vs Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 video!

Though the Tamron slacking in the autofocus speed seems to be a softwareproblem. Chance is, there will be updates in the future.

How about Sigma contemporary 28-70 mm vs new sigma art 24-70? Especially for stabilization on ZVE1
If it's version II, Im going for 2470
Can’t wait to see how you comment on Sigma 28-105/2.8
Which is best for colours?

this comparison review that i need the most
thank you for your video 🙌
Glad you liked it!!
I can’t decide between the Tam 35-150 and the Sigma 28-105 or 70-200. I need it for outdoor sports and indoor concerts/recitals.
Good job! Found my question
最初に買うレンズとしてこの2本で迷ってます。比較動画があまりないので助かります!比較結果はコストを考えてもシグマを選ぶだけの理由になりますか?カメラはa7ciiです。
Sigma worth the extra weight?
Sony 24-70 GMII no?
No to me
Which great and sharpness lens ?
Sigma
your video rocks ! hope can see you in Japan next month you're from Tokyo?
Thanks!!
I live in both of Yamanashi and Tokyo
Thanks for the awesome comparison. I'm still deciding between the Sigma and Sony GM2. I'm trying to trade in a few gear for an upgrade.

The g2 28-75 was and is my first zoom lens
Tammyron lets go

The full frame setup, zv-e1 and tamron 28-75 g2.
I prefer the look of the sigma and I definitely want 24mm on the wide end.
How did you do the voiceover with any dude's voice? AI? Unless you got an English-speaking editor or something
It's an AI voice over from Artlist!

i have this sigma lens with a panasonic s5iix, sharpest and fastest lense i ever had. its a beast.
I choose tamron because of its weight
Yeah, I know.

people say the Sigma let's dust in? experienced that yourself?
Big bruh moment sigma outs out a 28-105 which is optically better than the 24-70 Ii and under 1kg.
