Over Jump Rally is a Sega Rally tribute, remade entirely in Unreal Engine 5, hoping to become an official remake one day.
A new beta gameplay teaser showing off Unreal Engine 5 improved graphics, new UI, and better gameplay!
This is the track raced counter-clockwise.
Dynamic VFX and SFX are still missing but will be added soon.

The only reason I picked the Saturn over a PlayStation, I did eventually.
There were some brilliant rally titles back in the day, Rally Cross on the PS1 was really good fun, especially with the low gravity cheat code.
0:25 I never thought I'd hear Johnny Gioeli sing the "Game over yeah" jingle, but damnit it this man makes everything sound 1,000 of times better
He wrote the Game Over part and I asked him to add the YEAH because it was too iconic for Sega Rally fans 😎

Such a game would be a massive hit these days - at least do as well as Forza Horizon if it's done well. The cars and cities would look epic with path/raytracing technologies available.

Aww, man, I still have fond memories of playing the original against my mates in the arcades, way back in the mid 90's. Was my favourite arcade game back in the day. I still see that rock face sliding by, mere feet in front of my car, filling the entire screen as I drifted around that hairpin turn. If this game has the same handling, and also gets a Linux release, I'm gonna be all over this when/if it comes out.
I mean, I got Screamer 2 and Screamer Rally running in DOSBox, and sure, those are fun. But even back in the day, despite them being the best in the genre on PC, they were still a step below the king of drifty arcade racers: Sega Rally Championship.
Grew up on Sega Rally on the Saturn. This looks like a fantastic modernization of nostalgia that would be great to split screen with 2 controllers. Definitely excited about this release! 🤘

This is looking much more refined and closer to the original than the Alpha did, handling/gameplay wise. Love the Unreal gfx update too. Just AWESOME! Take my money.

I'm extremely happy with the controls I got now. They are a mix between the original SRC and the Saturn version. They also remind a bit of SR3, but with a dynamic camera.

I disagree, SRS did a great job at the time! SR3 nailed the aesthetics more than SR2 did!
Oh man, i LOVE this, i WANT this, i NEED this. Arcade racers today has been destroyed by "missions to smash and destroy" things along the way. This is a good old fashioned arcade racer in terms of gameplay, but with updated graphics that looks good enough to eat.
I hope sega to provide you the essential support and give the ok to release this reboot with many stages.
Graphics 10/10, you know, this impression that Sega Rally always looked like that, except it was 240p :D The music is 11/10 too. That "Game Over Yeah" tribute made me grin. Very little slides in the footage, but then again there isn't many tight turns, so we'll have to see further. added to the wish list, can't wait to read more about it!
I kept the slides for later! Especially the two after the tunnel are the most fun to do!

- Will it be only the original Sega Rally Car Selection (While I love the 3 sega rally cars, I always felt like there could have been SOOOOO many more classics. Sega Rally 2 arcade waas a bump, Sega Rally Online arcade was awesome)
- Desert, Forest, Mountain, Lakeside? I feel like the snow round on the Sega Rally PSP version was pretty cool.
Keep it up please, and if Sega or one of the car makers sends the lawyers, just maaake the skins of the cars user-customisaable :p

wonderful job you've done there, I wishlisted your game on Steam though I've got a little complaint and a tiny little question. for the complaint part, I wish you had put Steam screenshots that displays functional laptimes, stage records and whatnot. for the question part, the Steam page for Over Jump Rally tells me that the game can only be played with a controller and thus playing with a keyboard and a mouse (the basic components for every computer dare I say) isn't possible. is it gonna stay like that or are you planning to add keyboard and mouse support for the game?

Laptimes and stage records are functional yet, as you can see from this video, but they will be soon. I wanted to show off the UI and get the page published without having to wait on those.
As for the question, no one should play a racing game with mouse and keyboard. I'm adding also wheel support since it's highly requested. Controller are owned by most PC gamers anyway. I'm not going to spend time to calibrate a digital way to steer to create a sub-optimal gameplay, sorry.
@@OverJumpRally A bit disappointing. Even on controller I reach for the d-pad first if possible, lol. Just too used to digital controls.

as a great fan and owner of sega rally arcade cabinet....pffffiu what a pleasure to see fans make "remake" more than sega themselves. i'd like to see the cars just a little bit heavy to make driving more accurate in curve. The actual physics is like V-rally 1 for me and the sega rally 1995 physic is so specific. i know it's a big challenge and what you already done is great so, if you read this comment, and find it appropriate...maybe i could find my perfect game with such amazing graphics....
Thanks for your feedback! Since this video, I slightly changed the steering sensibility and decreased the friction coefficient just a bit. Overall I'm extremely happy with the handling, which is a mix of Sega Rally arcade and Saturn version.

Not sure how many of them played the OG SEGA Rally, but I used to play this ALL the time at the arcade, got the top score regularly in a MT Lancia Delta of course :D
Part of me hopes this never makes it to release though, as I WILL be playing it for WAAAAY too long no doubt! But f that, I cannot wait to play this! I would definitely pay a premium for this game.

The alpha demo is quite dated at this point, not reflecting the game at all, especially the gameplay! I'm sure you are going to love the final version ;)

I used to play Sega Rally 2 on PC when I was kid, which was also the first racing game I had ever played. Some months ago I tried to install the game on my new PC with no success.I think I played for the last time in 2009 or 2010 . Looking forward to this project.
Search for "Sega Rally 2 portable" to get a patched version that works on today's PCs.

No, the UI is final. I wanted to use the style of the original (color wise) but have the kind of font you'd see in a rally event in the 90s, with LCD numbers. I then added a CRT filter, that it could be removed (especially if you want to play the game on a real CRT).

Trees are mostly MAWI (conifers and sequoias) and pines are from another package. Oak trees are Dekogon's. I used to have MegaScan trees but I switched them a few days ago.
Looks gorgeous. The handling is very different from Sega Rally, in that game you slid around like your wheels were made of soap.
Definitely not true, at least on these specific corners. Or maybe you are referring to SR2?
@@OverJumpRally sorry, I'm not trying to discredit the amazing work you have done but it is true, the handling in the original Sega Rally was all about drifting around a corner sideways really really fast.
Again, full respect for what has been done in over jump, it is amazing and it looks like a great game, just feels different to me.
Any updates on this? What's the project trying to accomplish in terms of scale and circulation?
Hey! The project is alive and well. We are currently working on the dynamic sound fx. Graphics are all final except for the VFX that still need to be implemented, but they are going in tandem with sound fx (like when the terrain changes, for example).
I'm just focusing on releasing a demo first and then we'll see for the rest of the project. I has a lot to do with Sega's stand on this.

It´s on my steam wishlist! Sega Rally Multiplayer must be revived, track physics / deformation of revo was a blast, would be awsome to implement aswell....
I'd like to add track deformation but that won't affect the gameplay, just a visual element.
