- Over Jump Rally is a Sega Rally tribute, remade entirely in Unreal Engine 5, hoping to become an official remake one day.
Wishlist it on Steam! store.steampowered.com/app/19...
This is the third gameplay footage, getting closer and closer to the original!
Yes, the road in the original was wider, but that would look wrong with updated graphics. You don't need the road that wide anyway, trust me!
You can also now hear the original track that Johnny Gioeli made for me! You can even hear his voice, but I'll keep the complete song with lyrics for the final demo launch trailer.
"The Machine" original track:
Written and performed by Johnny Gioeli
Composed and mixed by Alessandro Del Vecchio

This looks great. I was lucky enough to work on Sega Rally Revo back in 2007 and I even started a pet project doing a remake of SR1 in Unity, but fell short of getting more than a simple tech demo working due to my lack of coding skills .. thankfully I got SEGA’s blessing to continue it as long as it was non profit.. but alas it’s on my pile of unfinished projects. I’ll be following this closely as it looks like you got some great work already done!
Sega Rally Revo was great, so thanks for your hard work!
Revo is the best Sega Rally ever, thanks for your work!
Oh, so Sega reached out to you? When was this? Do you have any videos of your project? I'm actually in touch with Guy, your former boss! :D
If it's of any consolation, I have no coding skills either!
I absolutely wish that Sega racing studio would continue on for much longer and then it had been, you guys got amazing potential for greatness!
@@tropixx_xlr1549 Same! I'm actually in touch with the former head of Sega Racing Studio, I met him a few weeks ago!
I'm pretty hyped. Sega rally is probably the game that sparked my interest in cars and Motorsports as a child. Keep up the great work my friend! EASY RIGHT, EASY LEFT!
Games are surely responsible for a lot of adults' passions! I know a lot of people that even bought those two cars because of this game!
naaaah pretty sure it was gran turismo XDDD
@@OverJumpRally I'm pretty sure the Stratos became my favorite car ever because of this game. Nice work!
@@Belgarion115 Fantastic car! The very first one designed specifically for rally... sporting a Ferrari engine! I can't wait to put it in my game... oh, as you know, its top speed is 320Km/h... I might not get that fast, but close! In the Saturn version it only reached 245...
@@OverJumpRally Dang, I have only played the Saturn version. Even then, the Stratos is the fastest car in the game (if you can handle it well enough).
you managed to capture the look and feel of the old game on new tools and hardware, that's more than impressive, well done!!
Still play Sega Rally on my Saturn occasionally - still one of the all time great arcade racers! Super stoked to see the flame kept alive!!
Yeah, Sega Rally was my favourite game on the Saturn.
Awful version
I love how you kept the original colors of the game while still making it look realistic
Whoever made this, THANK YOU for not putting bullshit camera effects like over-exposure, severe bloom and piss filters. Almost every modern racing game looks like shit because of these. This looks far better for just having a blue sky and sensible lighting.
You are welcome! I think I have a nice balance between realistic lighting and Sega's style (especially the blue sky). Thanks for your kind words!
It still uses filters tho, like when driving next to the waterfall or after the tunnel through the dusty bit. Especially the second one looks really bad as it almost looks like a sepia filter, it takes so much saturation out of the image it looks worse than the ps3 era brown filter games.
@@De_kaid Well, I can't really keep saturated colors in a smoky area... I'll add more particles to sell it, but I'm happy with the colors.
Looks absolutely amazing!!! Looking forward to trying this one!
@Gaia Mason I might tone it down a bit and add ash particles to sell it. But I honestly love how it gets saturated again going towards the checkpoint. It's like a theme, you need to add more variety.
I love the geography of this. Lots of little improvements that bring the old map up to date. The giant redwoods, jagged outcrops and the land slides which make up the gravel sections.
Thanks! The original track was inspired by the Redwood Forest, as confirmed by Kenji Sasaki. I made a reference video a year ago, you can check it on my channel.
Finally, someone commenting on the land slides! I think they make more sense than a road suddenly going on gravel. I also add a burned area with ashes on the road to justify the first two slippery turns just after the tunnel.
This is like a graphics update for my childhood memories. Will be picking this up as soon as it drops👌
"with graphics as you remember them as a kid!" is actually the tagline of this project!
Looks great ! The color tone changes are a bit too intense and seems unnecessary to me, but aside that, great job !
Hope to see more tracks soon, remakes or not !
I never played Sega Rally, however I've always loved arcade racing games and this, man.. I don't know how you did it, but it looks like you combined perfectly the spirit of 90's racing games with today's graphics. I hope you receive the support of Sega because I want to buy the full game. Congratulations!
You have no idea how much this excites me. I am 42yrs old. My first console was a Sega Saturn, with Virtua Cop and Sega Rally. I cannot quantify how much time I spent playing SR on my own and split screen with friends. I am a massive Sega and SR fan. To see the game alive today is awesome, but to see it looking like that and running like that feels like a dream. I hope you get all the support you need to bring this project to full fruition.
Fingers crossed 🤞. A friend and I have been playing this for the past 23 years and still pull it out from time to time.
This is amazing.
This is everything I have ever wanted in life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I can die happy once this releases
wow you need more hobbies lol
@@eyewishwalrus You have got to love his passion though.
It's a fantatstic little demo to play. You've managed to capture that classic Sega AM2 charm, amazing scenery with classic Sega blue skies. Can't wait to see how this progresses.
AM3 in this case 😉
Impressive, most impressive.
I love Sega Rally, I hope this remake will be a true licenced Sega game one day
Really enjoyed playing Sega Rally back then, and this project looks just amazing! Keep up the good work, looking forward to it!
Looks promising, maybe gameplay/handling can be improved a bit to resemble more the old "arcade" style game. God I spent so many hours playing this game. Brings lots of great memories.
Sega hired that man 😳
No(t yet)! Still unofficial!
This is brilliant in every possible way. I wish you the best.
been playing sega rally for 30 years and this looks absolutely amazing to me ! you have done an amazing job.
Incredible work, I hope you get more recognition on this project!
OMG that gameplay looks AWESOME, just need more difference in the different surfaces and I call it perfect, it looks like the perfect arcade gameplay that we don't have anymore.
This is awesome! Hope you'll get to finish it! Really looking forward to it.
This is some stellar work, im in love with the environment detail
This demo looks incredible! Can't wait to feel how it compares to the equally (back in the day) mind blowing original! 🤩
Thank you for saying that! I thought it would be crucial to have the same level of highest graphics available in order to recreate that magic. Arcade games used to have the best visuals you could find, now they are mostly mobile games... time to change it back!
This looks amazing! The only thing I would suggest is making the car tilt to the side a bit more as in the original the car leans a bit more when drifting/turning. This is incredibly impressive and you should be proud!
I could increase that, thanks!
@@OverJumpRally No problem, keep it up! :)
The default Car Physics in all of Unreal Engine are so basic even in Unreal Engine 4 or 5 . Tailored like PlayStation 1.
The user / Programmer need to understand C++ just to alter ONE car Physics.
@@ClayWheeler That's not true, you can tweak literally any parameter in Chaos Vehicle without having to know C++. Perhaps you are thinking about PhysX, which it was discontinued in UE5.
@@OverJumpRally yeah that's not useful either.
FYI I've used UE5 car Chaos Physics editor. And it's nowhere close to "BeamNG Drive" or "Asetto Corsa" when it comes to realistic car behaviour.
The best Car Physics you can pull off in Unreal Engine 5 is with Pre-Baked physics (not real-time physics as in Movie rendering) OR by using the Damn C++ to make the real-time Physics looking good-which is time consuming.
But the fact that Chaos Physics editor can be edited using C++ "out of the box" simply telling you that "Chaos Vehicles" itself is imperfect from the beginning.
Also, in the Chaos Vehicles documentation homepage, PhysX conversion import can be done in one click. But still, it's nowhere close to BeamNG or Asetto Corsa.
I absolutely love this man!!! Please keep working on it!!!!!
I still playing Sega Rally 2 and Revo on my PC up to this days. Nice work, i'm looking further for the amazing job your doing with such passion here. Congrats!
Track needs to be wider to match the arcade original and allow those big drift angles and drifting around competitors. Also physics are a bit stiff compared to Sega rally classic arcade physics. But obviously graphics look incredible and I'm so happy someone is working on this
The track won't get any wider, sorry. It would make the car looks smaller because everything is realistic now. You can still drift on a narrower road, like you do on Mountain. I want to add more drifting, that's for sure.
@@OverJumpRally maybe if you end up doing desert you could make that one wider to enjoy the drifting, even though might look bit less realistic and more arcadey
@@muskylounger Desert can definitely be weirder since it's not on a real road, while this one is on a California mountain road, so you can tell if it looks off. You don't need a track that wide anyway, in the original it was designed that way because you need to pay for every game, while this one is designed to be bought once, so you can experience it as much as you need. The Saturn version also had narrower tracks. It's a different product. Plus, having more challenging tracks won't be such a negative thing, especially for versus mode.
@@OverJumpRally yea I reckon go really wide with desert so you can really enjoy those big long drifts and jumps. Then mountain you can make it really tight
Awesome music!
This is clean and beautiful, you deserve medals for your hardwork
Amazing work, Sega Rally was sick back in the day. I'm gonna keep an eye on this for sure.
Nobody wants to play a rally game with this physics.
This is just Unreal Engine car game template.
The amount of positive feedback and demo downloads I got are clearly telling me otherwise. Go troll someone else, thanks.
You meant: _A Nobody, Glass Marble, wants to play a rally game with these physics._ Go ahead then!
Honestly, great job on making this, I wish you the best possible outcome.
I dont think you understand how much this made me smile =) HERE WEEEE GOOOO !!
Looks good. At least they got the follow cam working correctly. The cam allows the car to move around a bit instead of sticking on the bumper like so many other games. Well done.
Wow hope you guys make it! Played Sega Rally A LOT on Saturn back in 1996/97
To think you guys managed to terraform what is just a simple landscape at the time into something that looks like a real rally course without interfering with the original game's speed and pacing is amazing. Really looking forward to this!
Thanks! It took a lot of thinking and way more details than you can imagine! Like how the water would have eroded a specific path or how some specific vegetation only grow in some areas.
This is amazing! Absolutely mega job!
Great song, reminds me of 2005 all over again. I’m definitely following this project
Has the look down to a tee :) Great work!
This looks absolutely incredible! Good work! 😃
Wow! We can feel the same vibe from the original but with kickass graphics. The scenery interpretation from the original is mind blowing :D
Visualmente Espectacular, lo veo y quedó impresionado de la calidad gráfica, Really nice Project!!
One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Visually, technically and of course, emotionally. Well done!!
Looks amazing cannot wait till it’s released !
Looks great ! Congrats!
This looks amazing so far!
Great work man! keep going, it looks very neat! subbed to watch you progress. It's very promising.
I spent so much cash on this at the arcades all those years ago. This is the perfect HD trip down memory lane I needed
omg!!! this is awesome! Amazing job !
Detail is jaw dropping. Incredible talent
This is sick! Hope this comes out soon!
Wow! As someone who played those 4 original stages on Sega Saturn back when I was child, I had a smile on my the time I watched the video!
Even that little lens flare at 1:18 is exceptional!!
amazing! I still play sega rally 2 every year (and some revo actually...) and this looks really faithful! I hope you add "game over yeahhhhh!" too :P
Looks sick, nice work man.
Sega Rally Championship was my favorite arcade game back in 1995-97... I spent so much money on this game! It was awesome!
Well done!
Wow, amazing project! Subscribed for more content.
A 2020s game with 90s controls is actually a really great idea
looking forward to the arcadey HUD! gotta get across that check point in time! looks awesome mate
I just posted on my social media how the HUD is going to look!
@@OverJumpRally off to find that now then, keep up the great work
Kudos, impressive work.
I loved sega rally on the saturn and I swear every arcade ever had a sega rally machine. This is awesome.
Great work!
This looks amazing... Sega Rally will always be in my heart. My first racing game. Sparked my interest in cars, particularly rally.
I'll never forget the simpler times playing with my parents when i was 6 years old.
Also... god damn! I instantly knew that was Johnny Gioeli singing!!! What a voice
Is there a way to get this demo are its your on built of the game
This looks dope! Holy crap! I feel like i'm 3 years old again! :D
This is truly awesome!
Nice work!
This looks fantastic!
Followed this on IG for a while, hyped to try it! Also, amazing job getting half of Crush 40 to compose a track for you :)
Crush 20, amirite! The other half worked on SR2, so it was Johnny's turn ;)
I am gonna be following every update on this and will be a day one purchase for me
really fun demo, i downloaded it after it was mentioned by Digital Foundry. it certainly captures some of that magic. I hope you can implement some of the drifting style of Sega Rally and it will be even better. well done.
Looks great and a lot of fun!
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!
WTF even Johnny Gioeli? You're a true Sega fan man, great work. 💚
Wow, that looks amazing! 😍
Wow absolutely fabulous... Great job. I love Sega Rally and i d love to play your game. Wonderfull
This id extremely beautiful thanks for showing us this
From watching the video, the Over Jump's car seems to be more 'planted' than the Sega Rally's car. But still it's an absolute thrill to see this remake!
Does anybody know where can I find this song? I cant find it on yt or soundcloud.
The song is an original one I commissioned, it's not released yet.
Crush 40 + rally? Sign me up
I love my Sega Saturn! And your game looks lovely!
Thanks for this I have not downloaded yet but I will definitely will
the youtube algorithm brought me here and this looks incredible
omg ive been wanting this remake for about 20 years... please make it happen!
WOW! This is awesome :D
Holy shit this is coming along Amazingly
This looks amazing and i hope you can make it play as well as the original too.
Very good Job. Thanks
this is cool!
Really cool!
looks amazing seriously i cant wait
Flipping eck, this looks incredible...whoa!!!!!
Best "remaster" ever
Great work cant wait
This is so rad
I simply cannot wait 😂. This is the dream. What an amazing job ❤
Would love a rough ETA. Something to look forward to 😊
Looking great!!!!!!!
It will be very essential for me if this might have lan or / and online support in the future. 2 Player Sega Rally is what I hope for. Keep up the good work!
Definitely going to add both! Even a split-screen/two monitors option!
@@OverJumpRally Nice 👍
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
