This gameplay video shows the final visuals and the brand-new sound effects using Wwise and REV2!
The car handling is also final, but I usually don't drive using the hood camera, so there are some crashes here and there, which I wanted to keep in the video to show the physics (and SFX) in action.
The video was recorded in Ultra settings at native 1440p (then upscaled to 4k) on an RTX 4090 and i9-13900k, clocking around 90fps.
The performances are quite scalable, especially on lower resolution and using TSR upscale technology. DLSS and FSR will be added.
The lighting is all done in Lumen Software and pretty much every mesh is Nanite (except for translucent surfaces).
Fun fact: there are 2 Billion polygons in the entire map!
Chaos Vehicle is used for the car's physics.
FAQs:
1) Yes, a console port is planned, but only for current-gen consoles (PS5, XBSX/S).
2) No Steam Deck compatibility, as its hardware is not powerful enough. It should work fine on ROG Ally and Legion Go.
3) Yes to wheel support (and FFB); it's coming!
4) No, I don't have a date for the upcoming demo release, but you can see it's in good shape (still missing VFX and game logic, but graphics and handling are 100% done. Some S are still missing).

Trees are completely renewed with better quality and textures. Additional set dressing added from photogrammetry assets. Some people in the crowd now stand up and sit down. Super early-stage video I shot two months ago, a few days after I started learning the basis of Unreal Engine 5. I just replaced the basic Unreal Engine's Chaos vehicle with the Lancia Delta model and I was able to drive it around. This was the a-ah moment that made me realize the whole project was doable. Damn, this project looks so good. Can't wait! Wishlisted. Small suggestion: I think having the hood vibrate/shake very very slightly (maybe depending on the road surface, or when braking or something) would really help make the car feel more alive and part of the world in this hood view. Right now the hood almost looks like a static overlay on top of the camera view. I was thinking of the hood view from Daytona USA but waaay less intense.
Thanks! I'm getting the same feedback a lot. I might add a small arm that would have some delay from the car itself, making the vibration matching what the car itself is doing. Adding random shakes could cause dizziness, so I'd rather avoid that.

It's the best thing I've seen since the days of Sega Rally 1 & 2, and Scud Race. I wish it could run on a Dreamcast. I'd happily pay 200 of a currency of your choice for it. 😂

Oh man, i LOVE this, i WANT this, i NEED this. Arcade racers today has been destroyed by "missions to smash and destroy" things along the way. This is a good old fashioned arcade racer in terms of gameplay, but with updated graphics that looks good enough to eat.
Are you planning on adding more tracks? And what about low end users?
Car is to stiff, needs a little more bounce
The bonnet is to ridged, stiff needs to rattle around a little. Never been in a car that the bonnet does not move in sight when going over gravel etc. At the moment the remake looks good, but the orignal has more feel to it. Losen that bonnet and a very slightly looser suspension.

Gameplay is also important, SEGA made an awesome port for the Saturn. The helis should drift a little bit, the waterfall is amazing, because it makes the road wet.

OK, that is great Sega Rally remake, really. I would bought it... but the musics are not in the spirit and the groove of the original. Youre game would be a hit, like Sonic Mania is, with the only condition that you manage to have good soundtraks in the spirit of original Sega Rally... maybe remake of them. I remember the musics between replays of different maps.
While I agree that the original has more jazzy tracks, I'm extremely satisfied with the new music. Most people seem to share this sentiment, especially when they hear Johnny Gioeli's voice (check my previous video). If I'm allowed to use the original tracks, I wouldn't touch them because they are perfect. I think rock for the driving (like it was Getting Muddy in the original) and jazz in the replays is a good combination.

Wow this is arcade racing using Unreal Engine 5 This is insane look remastered amazing
loving the look of it. hope the game control/traction - drifting feels right too. thats the main issue. i played the original sega rally to death in the arcade for several months, wrote a 200 page faq on it, and then i played the saturn version to death also. this will have to be near perfect to match the arcade version. hopefully with more tracks. sega rally 2 was great too, but not as good as the original. sega rally 3 and evo were ok, but that was because the handling was not as good. sega rally 2006 was too hard. hopefully you will find a good balance.
The handling is something between SRC arcade and Saturn. And, in my opinion, it's better than both. Same drifting, but the countersteering is more fun and precise. And overall the car goes faster, so there's also that.
Loved Sega Rally since I was a kid. For this game I must ask, is there any opponent cars running on the road as well? Or is it ONLY me always, on the road and thet I would be racing against clock and environment but never other cars?
Yes, for the full game I'm also adding the other cars! For the demo, time attack should be enough.

Looks fantastic. I read some comments where people are asking for wider tracks and more drifting etc, my personal suggestion would be to keep the tracks relatively narrow, gives a much more heightened sense of speed. I was a massive fan of sega rally and this is a phenomenal tribute to that timeless classic. Well done and keep up the amazing work.
Yes, that's another a great point! The drifting is there, just less noticeable in first-person as you don't have the camera delay showing the side of the car.

As a life long sega fanboy this is amazing! I am a big fan of the original 95 rally I have a twin sit down coin-op in my garage one of the best racers out there, it's nice to see Sega pulling out their back catalogue and giving them a modern update.

Really looking forward to this! Well done Devs. Is it possible to dial down the grip levels a bit? It looks a bit too sticky… it be nice if it was a bit looser/powerslidey… it was one of the key things loved about Sega Rally was the serious tail sliding!
The reason why it looks less drifty than the original is mostly due to the fixed camera: you are probably used to see Sega Rally footage/playing it in third camera, where the rotation delay would help giving the impression of sliding laterally. With the current setup, on third-person camera, you can have quite impressive angles of attack, on slippery surfaces. Another reason is the speed: being faster than the original means cleaning the corner more quickly, so the sliding feels less. For the next gameplay video I'll be sure to show all of these points!

Looks amazing! The sound is another matter. The engine sounds like a purring lawnmower and why is there no doppler effect on the sound of the helicopter? The game looks superfast but sounds slow. There's a lot to be gained from more exiting sound!
