Brave man working over water with all those parts ... whew wish I was taught so much mechanical things about motors i have a knew Yamaha and my battery is low voltage I'm gonna replace it tomorrow morning
The switch that is mentioned/shown in the beginning of this video is a common battery power control switch for the "BOATS" DC electrical system and is always mounted somewhere on the boat. It is NOT part on the Yamaha engine or its starter.Sorry about any confusion.
There was a switch that he talked about at the very beginning. it had a red plastic "key" . I have the same problem, but after replacing the starter motor and all the other stuff and am stuck trying to find that switch!!! Was that switch located on the motor itself or was it the key switch located at the helm???
As mentioned in the very first part on the video we found that the problem was not with the starter but with a battery switch that went bad. That switch would not allow sufficient current flow to operate the starter.
I saw somebody in my location which take out the starter motor and rebuild it. The similar thing i done was rebuild my 2 stroke 115 of trim motor which clean all the dust inside the motor and check the brush connection is good, put back together and i found it work well a long time. Is that can do the same thing when I getting starter motor fail also?
Hi, I have a yamaha f40f 2015, after the boat sink once due a big storm we get it back and worked totally fine until now, seems the bendix wheel doesn't work properly anymore. When i start the engine the bendix pop up but can't run the flywheel or actually can and then then the engine start but after a few stop and start doesn't work anymore...i can hear the click but the bendix doesn't move. If I leave the boat for several hrs the bendix engage or at least try, after I turn on and off several time it doesn't even move... Could be the key switch? Unfortunately where i live are no good tech guys and I am afraid to take out the whole bendix unit and send it to a the yamaha factory for inspection... any suggestion will be appreciate
I read in the comments it was the switch shown at the beginning of the video.. starter tested good..wonder why he didn't check the switch before taking off the starter..
After removing the starter and testing it, the start was fine. So I replaced the starter and traced the problem back to a bad battery switch I mention at the start of the video.

Actually very good job. QQ where is the stater relay on a 300 Yamaha? Could it be on under the port side intake mans? thanks
So it was that switch.. starter tested good.. did not get to the end of it but why did you not test the switch first
What I miss ? how did the troubleshooting go, ??? was this video directed by Quintin Tarentino??
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
do you have a video of bench testing the starter?
Did I miss something or did he just take it out and put it back in. Where's the troubleshooting?
He said in the beginning bad battery switch
i agree with you, what a croc of shit.
The switch that is mentioned/shown in the beginning of this video

Great video. Very detailed and great quality.
Can you tell me what battery cable specifications l need for a Yamaha 55hp 2 stroke motor?

Did you ever find the switch?
nice video. will follow same procedure. what anti-corrosion spray do you use?
Where can I find the electrique shema for 100hp Yamaha. please...I m actually in Flores, Indonesia..and have some electrique problem ....thanks
What was “bad” about your battery switch?
I want my 9 minutes back. Was watching for the troubleshooting part. It never happened
So what was wrong with the starter, or was it a replacement ?

Shouldn’t you always replace starter and solenoid. I have 2016 300 Yamaha outboards. Does sitting up for long periods cause the solenoid to stick
You forgot to warn us about dropping those screws in the water
Why not show bench test ?
Great video, thank you. What is the switch you show at the beginning of the video??
That may be my problem...
love the video but how did you get the starter working
The problem was the battery control switch mentioned above and the started was just fine.
thanks
arms in the air...what turned out to be wrong???
I read in the comments it was the switch shown at the beginning of the video.. starter tested good..wonder why he didn't check the switch before taking off the starter..
@@terryleblanc6868 yeah...good point Terry
what was wrong with it? what did you fix?
After removing the starter and testing it, the start was fine. So I replaced the starter and traced the problem back to a bad battery switch I mention at the start of the video.
Tanks for hallp
I know I would have dropped at least one bolt in the water. I have one that starts cold but will not start on a hot engine. Anyone with ideas?
Didn't he say it was the switch? Looked like a kill switch I have on a jeep
Last part lots of background noise.
Are you Clint Eastwood? You sound like him !
No but I watch a lot of Westerns.😂
Batman?
