Blacksmith crafts more tools that all the rest combined, especially when you get into the upper levels. Craft your tools, then craft your gear, and then the rest comes easily. Don't forget daily GC turn in's... that's assuming that you want to max out all your crafters/gatherers.
Yeah this is my approach. I just got to the level 70 mark for everyone (except culinarian, since I also didn't want to do a lot of fishing...) and I'm going to go with BSM first for the "home stretch" so I can make the gear for my other classes.
@@Iceblade269 Weaver doesn't get you the tools, and NOTHING increases your crafting stats as much as your tools. Weaver definitely gets you the most items (and IMO is probably the second most valuable class behind blacksmith), but no where near the stats that main and offhand tools do.
Level them all. That's the best way to save you the most amount of frustration. Inv space will always be an issue for omni crafters so might as well get used to it.
Crafting feels so much more convenient now, with more avenues to gain exp currently than just grinding levequests. I have played since ARR and crafting back then was a bit difficult. Maybe I just didn't have the patience at that time, but it feels really nice to upgrade it now!

THIS! So many guides especially for crafting are of the mindset that you are have at least some knowledge of how it works & terminology. A prime example is I didn’t know about the 3 soul stone thing or that certain crafters are more compatible to others and either miner or botanist. I was told level all the crafters at once in most guides I looked at. I didn’t know there were multiple options/strategies. I’ll probably unlock all the crafters then just focus on 3 at a time.

My decision to choose to level Alchemist was not one of practicality, it just fit my character. My character name is I'madoctor Ifixpeople. Everything I do is doctor themed (I have a scrubs glam, I main healer classes, my chocobo was named Ambulance now it is named Booboobus which is a funnier name for ambulance, so I chose Alchemist because medicine. (My gearset for Alchemist I renamed Pharmacist.)
I finally started leveling a DOH and DOL after 5 years of playing. Start with Culinarian cuz I love raiding and Botanist cus I feel they synergize well (also for Reaper lore) :)
I find getting my gear repaired at a repair shop is significantly easier than repairing my iwn gear. Don't have to worry about dark grade matter or company seals.
There's a few extra benefits to being able to repair your own gear. - no money - repairs needed less often - can repair in instances like dungeons and raids For some people it doesn't really matter, but man is it convenient.
I'm leveling all the crafts on a trial account and somehow manage my inventory XD. To be honest that is for sure the most difficult part. Leveling them at roughly the same rate has as bonus that you can sell the old gear since you won't ever need it again (except maybe for the looks).
@@JuniFFXIVChannel Ty. For those that read this and need to know my method: Make a lot in bulk. F.e. make a ton bars and hides then make as much as possible that only require those base materials (incl rivets, plates and such). Do that for all crafts and then look at which secondary ingredients (feathers, oils and such) you need for all those crafts. Farm and quickly use them (won't have enough space otherwise). This way you won't feel the need to keep lower tier ingredients since you've done everything with it. Skipping fishing & cooking for a large part would be a good alternative since they are the most tedious and require a lot of the slots.

ahh yes, all of them is starting to make sense. i love crafting so much i only just got to lvl 19 msq and having a retainer - meanwhile i am a lvl 53 goldsmith with leather and now weaver. ☺️ why do i want to craft? i think if i am being honest, so I can look stylish and have great equipment. my other total favourite thing to do is roam the lands and super dangerous places as a miner - watching awesome battles and finding all the minerals. and yeah - i have in the last week discovered that ignoring the msq will make crafting cone up against walls. 😭 i need more storage space.
oh and i almost forgot. all of them.. last night i walked into weaver guild because my leather work stalled in levequests due to a lack of cotton cloth. ahh better. anyway, this system is so much fun.

Fishing, then cooking, then blacksmithing. The rest you can do in any order you want after that. Also I would start the crafting asap maybe even doing it while your lvling your main class up.
I leveled most of my crafting and gathering classes as I waited for DPS queues. The queues have been kinda fast lately though, so it might not be as effective.
Carpenter. The logs won't be wasted and the plants for consumables will be useful. That's what I would prefer, but I could see others easily saying Culinarian instead. I would say those two classes are probably your best bet.

Forgot to mention to craft just high enough to create noob gear for others and convince them to get their crafters to max lv while you never touch a crafters again.
Blacksmith first. Your primary tools/weaponry need to be HQ. Goldsmith id say second but you need armor so weaver or leather. Unless you wanna lvl a specific class...

I'm new to FFXIV videos (and the game actually), but it made sense to me when I was levelling my crafter's to start with leveling the 3 gathering classes FIRST... Yet every guide I see about levelling crafters seems to skip over the fact that most new players have very little money and buying stuff from the market board is very expensive - whereas gathering the majority of your own crafting resources yourself is way cheaper and more accessible. Sure it takes longer, but not as long as earning millions of Gil to be able to afford to often egregious market board prices for someone else's materials. So my answer would be NONE, don't level ANY crafter's first, instead new players should level Botanist, Miner and Fishing levels FIRST. Ps. Ignore everything I just typed if you're a gillionaire... 😅

I find blacksmithing and armorer are solid for making money due to the variety of items smiths can make and armorer is good to. But i started with the ones that would be most helpful for my starting job.
This crafting thing is so overwhelming I'm sure you are explaining it really well but I just don't get it, I started playing two weeks ago and I haven't leveled anything related to the DoH, so should I wait until I'm max level to start with this? I've been watching several videos and one of them said I should have a minimum of 3 million gil because I would need special equipment for each one and well being new I don't have that kind of money.
Idk how this comment got past me, but here is my (delayed) response anyway. I would just focus on MSQ for now, and getting to max level on at least one DoW/DoM job. If I remember correctly, you get about 2mil from MSQ alone? That being said, crafting doesn't have to be a costly endeavor. I recommend maybe starting with DoLs first since the only cost is replacing the gear as you level, and you'll make a lot of that money back by selling the materials you gathered for XP gain. It will also make crafting cheaper for you if you decide to hold onto the materials for later use, instead.
Is leveling the miner and botanist first good? Cause I've been leveling them up trying to get them to max first, I'm not really caring for Gil or anything, My goal is to max out every gathering and crafting job one day
Miner and Botanist are really solid to start with. I usually just gather the major ores and logs so that once I get to leveling my crafters, I already have some of the core materials for many recipes. You might wanna level based on your inventory space. So for example, if you only have 2 retainers, you might not want to level them both at the same time. Just some food for thought. Culinarian - Alchemist - Blacksmith, always. YOUR job doesn't matter....it's irrelevant. In this game people craft to make money, not to make their own gear. Thats a hell of a lot of work to take care of 1 person
That may be true for some people, but I know plenty of people who just level based on what they want to repair, and call it a day. Not everyone crafts solely for money. I know a few casual players who just level so they can make furniture for their house/apartment, etc. The three you mentioned are great for general use, so it really depends on what your goals are. Usually, when someone levels that way, I've noticed they don't usually play with FC members or are not part of an FC. So I agree it really is a lot of work for 1 person.
The most consistent crafter for gil is probably alchemist and culinary as foodstuffs for raids will always be in demand

Weaver gets you most of the gear crafters and gatherers need. I’m leveling it and forging HQ pieces to help my other classes

Culinarian - Alchemist - Blacksmith, always. YOUR job doesn't matter....it's irrelevant. In this game people craft to make money, not to make their own gear. Thats a hell of a lot of work to take care of 1 person
That may be true for some people, but I know plenty of people who just level based on what they want to repair, and call it a day. Not everyone crafts solely for money. I know a few casual players who just level so they can make furniture for their house/apartment, etc. The three you mentioned are great for general use, so it really depends on what your goals are. Usually, when someone levels that way, I've noticed they don't usually play with FC members or are not part of an FC. So I agree it really is a lot of work for 1 person.
