Beast tribes exp is awesome for levelling alt jobs for a minimum amount of effort. From HW onward their exp is scaled depending on your level. For example from 50-60 in HW they give a ton of exp that scales up with each lvl you gain. Once you are at the max level of that particular expansion of course they will give crap for exp and aren't worth it but they are awesome for at lvl levelling of alts. Once unlocked you can begin them from the starting level of that expansion.
So I'm a new player and I did all of the 7 extreme trials with the duty finder. Ramuh and Ifrit were especially hard but it was all doable with a random group even if most of them almost took all the time we had for it. It was a fun challenge lol!
I think gold saucer is worth unlocking when you get the challenge log, completing some of the gold saucer every week and doing the fashion report every week will get your mgp growing over time, much easier than trying to grind a few million for the mounts and stuff, you'll also be getting more completed challenges per week which means more of the 10k Gil payouts from the challenge log
As the only person on earth who isn't crazy about the Gold Saucer, I think it's alright to skip if the GATEs and mini games aren't your thing. Fashion Report is also not the best option for early levels or free trial players, save for the 10k you get for participating.

The only thing I would suggest regarding crafting/gathering is wait until you gain access to the Firmament and Diadem. These locations contain some very efficient content to level crafters and gatherers all the way to max level. Still, do the crafter/gatherer beast tribes as they provide good EXP for minimal effort, along with interesting goodies down the line, but Firmament is probably more where it's at.

Dear god... I started a few days ago and (based on the recommendations of a friend) just went full-speed on MSQ progression, avoiding side quests along the way. I can't even tell you the frustration of being stalled out and having to track down which blue quests I need to continue progressing. Very helpful!
Great guide! I just started playing and I chose a Gladiator (lvl 21). I've been seeing these blue quest markers all over, so this vid helps me a ton. Thank you!
Just got the game a few days ago. There is soooo much to learn. Thanks for making a video for just about everything though, you've been helping me a ton!!!
I was so excited to start heavensward yesterday morning as I thought I was close, turns out i skipped out on all the crystal tower quests somehow lol so that took me the whole day but I'm finally on heavensward! Yay
This is such a useful video, i'm playing through Final Fantasy 14 for the first time and I keep this video up as i'm leveling to hear your thoughts on certain blue quests...Thank You for making this!
Thanks! this really helped a lot! I just hit level 70 and missed so much. I did however finish the Smiths quests at level 15 because it gives you a ring that increases EXP.
The blue side quests can be worth doing, but all non-blue doesn't unlock anything and only rewards a bit of xp and gil. They do add some story of course though, so I will do some of them eventually, but I don't see any good reason to prioritize them over the MSQ. Unless the reason is that you purposely want to slowly progress through the game and have no interest in getting to the end-game content.
I've done most of them, and I recommend it if you enjoy them, but I'd advice you to do them on a secondary class since the exp does kind of add up and your main one doesn't need it since when you've gotten past the sastasha(the very first dungeon) part of the MSQ you'll always be above the content level all the way to the end exp wise.
@@TehDanny There are a few yellow sidequests that unlock fun stuff like emotes, and some of them are legitimately kind of funny. I don't think there's a problem with slowly progressing if you're actually enjoying the gameplay, but I think it's a bit wasteful when people burn through the sidequests on their main class since it's quite a lot of exp if you're cleaning up entire maps of yellow sidequests and your main is not going to need that exp post lvl 15 MSQ.
Zepla: "... doing Binding Coil unsynced ..." Me. Yup! Did that. Zepla: "... with some friends ..." Me: Well you could've told me that earlier, I solo'd 'em all ...
@@DantoriusD Not really. T9 was the only fight that was a bit tricky, but the meteor phase *is* soloable (there are guides for this too, somewhere, at least for DRG), or even entirely skippable if you can burst her down fast enough in phase 1 (very hard to do though, I didn't manage it). It does require some precise positioning to drop the meteors on specific points and baiting a golem into eating at least 2, then still being able to kill him quickly after that, but it's absolutely possible.
Back when I started, because Urth's Fount didn't have an "(Extreme)" in the title I thought it would be one of the normal trials to run in the Duty Finder. I queued for it and actually got a match, and we did finish it with no major setbacks, so I guess I got lucky xD
So, I'm lvl 52, in that interminable interregnum between ARR and Heavensward, it's 4 AM, and I'm looking at my journal which contains 5 dungeons/trials and nothing else. Then, I remembered that pink lady on YT chuckling while recommending the Hildibrand questline. So... Oh my. THIS is what you need when you're in that spot. A very light-hearted and funny romp through a series of detective stories where even the trials are funny. The Battle on the Big Bridge popped much faster than I expected, the only trial I've gotten to so far, and was great, though short, fun. Not much in the way of rewards (including what some consider the most useless item in FF14), but when you're burnt at 4 AM and just can't face another dungeon right now, this is the questline for you. Thank you so much for highlighting this questline.
I’ve been playing wow since beta , came over to FF three weeks ago , love it . Great video , I would suggest don’t be afraid to slow down and try the fun stuff, you don’t need to wait for end game to have a good time

>"Do not do Extreme trials in duty finder" But I enjoyed explaining strats, that I just read myself, to people. ^^' Until I got to warring triad, that was a shit show
About the Warring Triad: The story becomes important later and gives you some side infos about primals, Allag and some NPCs. Also it is required for a quest line that unlocks close to the one you get once all role quests in Shadowbringers are complete. It is challenging on level 60, but personally I wouldn't recommend waiting with that until forever. Go in there with friends or via Party Finder if you are unsure if you can beat them. (This goes for the normal versions of course, _not_ the extreme trials!)

I want to watch him completing those two investigators quest chain so much. In the beach episode, I've been crying because of laughter. Plus, that clown's father...
If he's not banned first
@@noxelohim nah. He's not doing anything in game that would warrant a ban. Besides, the transition from wow to ff14 is not as clean as its made out to be. Wow players are groomed by blizz to think a certain way. Ff14 is like visiting a mega candy store after yesrs of being forced to pick from the same brand year after year.
4:10 I have played almost 400 hours and did not know that this quest existed. Thank you.
Thank you! This was exactly what I was needing. As a new player there just seems like so many things to unlock.
Thank you for this! I find the number of dungeons especially overwhelming so it's really helpful ^^
Thank you thank you Zepp. I am new and it has been driving me crazy trying to figure out which blue quests are important and which ones are not.
I love your content! You’re a big reason to why I gave ffxiv a chance! And now I’m hooked lol
Hey thanks for the Revival shout out! I was wondering why we had huge growth suddenly!
The more new friends the merrier. We hope to see you and everyone else in the chats and events!
I actually really like Urth’s Fount, it’s legit a fun trial
Odin is incredibly fun. And if you can beat Odin, you know you're ready for a lot of Extremes.
I agree! I found out I had it when I had already reached endgame and solo farmed it for some glamour.
It's crazy to me that I never did it before.
Would love to sync Extreme sometime if I can get a group together.
I agree, it's super fun! ...once everyone know what to do lmao
Throw in sprout healers that don't read chat and don't know they have to esuna bleed (at least from themselves) and undergeared sprout tanks that don't get out of that aoe tankbuster and it turns from fun to praying to echo XD
@@th0rne_999 Uh, there isn’t an Urth’s Fount EX, closest thing is the Odin FATE that pops up every now and then. To be fair though, it absolutely still hits like a truck at lvl 70 (which he syncs you to) and you can’t just unga bunga through it like most FATEs, especially if he isn’t being tanked right and people are collecting physical vulns
"Blue Mage is not a real job" Didn't know I was on Larryzaur's channel.
I actually skipped most of the Blue quests lol.... I"ll go back and get to it.
thank you for the company seals tip, i had just got that point and it was all as clear as mud ;)
These puns are getting wild
Primal quests ones are so painful xD
I know my comment will get lost in the void but I just want to say that very rarely I see content creators looking like they legitimately LOVE what they're doing, the jokes you made, you laughing at your own jokes, it was all a nice experience and very enjoyable to watch, as a new player I am glad this video was on my recommendations. you yourself a new subscriber!
There are NO more quest markers on any map in my game, much completion lol
Same , I'm 3k hours in and I am only just reaching the end of 5.0 , send help
@@urcle-ladgames8851 What? How? Are there so many Quests?
@@dice5709 Yes each zone is filled with useless quests
@@dice5709 Each zone has a LOT of random sidequests just for stuff like exp, gil, random items, lore, or just for “fun” lol

Just wanted to say that I recently got into playing FFXIV, discovered your channel by chance, and I'm so glad I did. Currently binge-watching your back content as it's been invaluable to me so far. Thank you. :)
"If you have hair" was that a shot at the Baldwalker?
I just did the Hildibrand quest today where you help the bald old man get some hair-growth tonic. I hope Asmon doesn't miss it!
@@0Fyrebrand0 I'll have to keep an eye out for that quest when I get there on my playthrough for my channel.
When she said “you’ll be out of cluck” lol best part.
Your videos are always so positive and so helpful, and I've had such an awful couple of months that the start of your video saying "hey buns" had me in tears, it made my day so much better and you helped me laugh and smile by the end. Sounds utterly tragic I know, but honestly this video made my day, so thank you.
I actually did urth’s fount the first time with duty finder lol. Just BARELY beat it before wiping. Very stressful but fun too
"Blue Mage is not a real job."
How dare you!?
I am attakd
Dear god... I started a few days ago and (based on the recommendations of a friend) just went full-speed on MSQ progression, avoiding side quests along the way. I can't even tell you the frustration of being stalled out and having to track down which blue quests I need to continue progressing. Very helpful!
The Golden Saucer is mandatory in the post stormblood story so you gotta unlock it anyway
Thanks you very helpful for keeping things straight forward. I'll be coming back as i level. Currently on my first toon, playing with a friend.
"Blue mage is [...] not a real job"
I feel personally attacked by this.
I can hear all the blue mages booing but slightly agreeing behind their screens
Blue mage isn't a job, it's a lifestyle!
@@rugalbernstein5913 You can quit a job, you can't quit BLU.
How can you say something so controversial yet so brave!
You shouldn't, the truth isn't an attack
As a returning player, I really appreciate this video. Even though I have played before, it was very helpful. I also like the puns!
There's a quest called "Fart of Fear"? Does it unlock the Brown Mage? Can your chocobo pick up crop dusting?
Make green and brown mage a thing!
@@MrGrimlocksmash Ima be a Flatulomancer.
Great guide! I just started playing and I chose a Gladiator (lvl 21). I've been seeing these blue quest markers all over, so this vid helps me a ton. Thank you!
Enjoy! And thanks for the tanks!
10:37 "Blue Mage ain't a real job"
Wow you sound like my dad Zepla! :P
Yay
Oh I did that too. I was so frustrated because I didn’t care about the Crystal Tower and wanted to go on to Heavensward.
This is one of the best beginner info vids I've seen. That page has become my go to page to make sure I'm getting stuff unlocked.
Hildebrand quests are awesome. Actually made me laugh instead of breath hard out my nose
Good ol' Hildebrand. You love him, or hate him. Shame I'm in the latter camp.
@@glenmoody-elias1040 He has grown on me, I love him now
This is such a useful video, i'm playing through Final Fantasy 14 for the first time and I keep this video up as i'm leveling to hear your thoughts on certain blue quests...Thank You for making this!
started for the possibility of learning, stayed for the cute gestures and puns
Thanks! this really helped a lot! I just hit level 70 and missed so much. I did however finish the Smiths quests at level 15 because it gives you a ring that increases EXP.
5:29 "Fart of Fear" I'm a new player, and don't think I've gotten to do that dungeon yet
Just started FFXIV, found your vids, you're so underrated. these corny jokes put a giant smile on my face, never change miss Zepla.
“The hunt, its a Big Game feature” i didnt even realize you were making a pun til you started laughing, great job now I’m subbed
Thank you for this! Just reached post-ARR and wanted to see what to do before getting to Heavensward
I was wondering this just today! This made my Friday!
THANK YOU. I just finished ARR and picked up all the blues in Mor Dhona and now my log looks like a shopping list x.x
Most say “side quests” why does everyone say you don’t need to do the side quests lol that’s it, I’m doing EVERY SINGLE ONE
that's dedication
I just got to Heavensward on lvl 61 because I did all the Q I could on my class in ARR. Meanwhile people just rushing trough MSQ past me :D
Thanks for the awesome video! I'll definitely be sharing this with some of my friends that are still working their way through ARR
Zepla: "... doing Binding Coil unsynced ..."
Me. Yup! Did that.
Zepla: "... with some friends ..."
Me: Well you could've told me that earlier, I solo'd 'em all ...
what level/ilvl do you need to solo them?
How did you solo it? Some Fights require at least 3 ppl because of Mechanics.
@@elmati8762 Did it on a DRG at 80, around iLvl 490-500 I think.
I just got the game 3 weeks ago, am about to hit lvl 50 and im lowkey staggered by how many of these I've missed. This website is SO HELPFUL tysm💯💯💯
Great video , I would suggest don’t be afraid to slow down and try the fun stuff, you don’t need to wait for end game to have a good time
I was genuinely wondering how to find a video of exactly this, stop by your channel and it's quite a recent upload x)
Thank you, Zepla!
Currently dying at the captions saying "If you're new to polymer z 14"
lmao
THANK YOU!! I didn't know the website existed with things you could miss unlocking. Sometimes I want a break from MSQ and this will help tremendously.
Now I just need to find time to finish the main quest so I can do side quests
Same here Im enjoying it but I see videos like this and think Holy cow I'm not even going to get to the expansions let alone going back for these 😂
Thank you for this list. As a new player to XIV i wasnt sure at what levels content got unlocked.
Haven’t watched the video yet, but short answer: Just do all of them. Much less of a hassle that way than remembering which ones to keep unfinished and which to pick up.
You have no idea how often i have referenced either this video or the links you mention. THANK YOU
>"Do not do Extreme trials in duty finder"
But I enjoyed explaining strats, that I just read myself, to people. ^^'
Until I got to warring triad, that was a shit show
Great if you wanna wait like 3 hours because no one really queues up for that in Ff14.
In fact, up to warring triad, the previous ones are all very queue-able, at least I queue them all until get destroyed by the triad
So many Mom jokes in this XD
The most helpful FFXIV guide for new players, right here. Thank you! :)
Had no time to watch this, then thought to myself “…well i have to at least hear her say, hey buns” 😆😆😆
So grateful this was recommended to me. I just finished ARR MSQ and suddenly had so many quest opened up for me and all these dungeons being thrown at me. I just wanted to get to Heavensward and Astro job lol but I couldn’t figure out what was important and what wasn’t!
