This is the best leveling guide i've seen so far, honestly. I thought the Main Scenario Roulette was all there really was for leveling up. And yes, I'm that guy who hit 80 on two jobs and didn't even know what squadrons or the hunt board were.
I remember back when the patch for HoH released, I got NIN, MNK, SAM, MCH, BLM, and RDM to 70 mostly using deep dungeons. All I can say is take a break every couple of runs, and remember you should not try to get it done in one sitting/day
This. I also try to do the job quest every other time I unlock one and check the new ability I unlocked while I was in there, so I still have an understanding of what I need to do.
I was wondering when she'd mention this, I leveled my smn this way as well on my original account. Then I went back to the main story and life was good.
I rather do nothing but MSQ roulettes for the rest of my life than deep dungeons. It is by far the most boring mechanic of this game. And I agree with Zepla, it's like buying job skips, you'll learn nothing.
Most of the time. I was just in Qitana Ravel and Urianger was totally getting blasted by those bloody owl statues, repeatedly. I've also read reports that Y'shtola is, in finest BLM fashion, loath to leave AoE marks in favor of casting her blaminations. My Master Matoya is only 71, so I haven't seen how she acts in DM and Qitana yet.
Squadrons are basically immune to most AoEs anyway. Pure damage aoes do like 10% damage, damage fields simply don't affect them. It's mainly down to if something causes a status effect like pollen.
“I’m not about to leave a bunch of lalafells in my barrack unattended” lmao you’re amazing but you’re right I’d be super nervous about what’s going on in there 🤔
"If you haven't done the main quest/this is your first time, just do that first before any of this other stuff" okay, i guess I'll save this video for later.
I actually think deep dungeons can be good for learning and relearning jobs you don't use much if done right. You start at level 1 for PotD and get your skills back slowly enough to figure out how they fit in the rotation. Tedious as all heck, though.
I'm a new FFXIV player so I watched a couple of your videos to learn the basics and I gotta say I find your relaxed tone of voice very soothing. Feel so nice compared to the fast paced, overexcited content delivery we usually get by youtubers.
@@literallyjustchickensandwich There are SO MANY "hey go talk to that person RIGHT there for me" WHY?! Just tell me what I need to do so I can do it!!! I looked at a full list of quests and about shit myself because there are so many but then realized that they are just the mentioned kind of quest! Oh and the ones where the Scion lady sends you to Gridania or other place far away just to come RIGHT back is ALSO annoying!!!
After you unlock Palace of the Dead, you can go in with any class even from LEVEL 1! So I used it mainly to get my other classes to level 16 when you can start doing levelling dungeons.
I'm so thankfull as most of the wow community that is taking a break from wow to try ffxiv! You are amazing and make me want to try new games and reach new boundaries of the gaming world! Thank you!
Very new player to ff14. (2 months new) On the note of deep dungeons I've been leveling a Dragoon, Red mage, Machinist, and a Gunbreaker... and I haven't had an issue with learning there rotations (granted I did look up a few video's on basics before I started) I'm still enjoying those 4 classes even after my 100+ run of HoH XD. the deep dungeon feature is in my top 5 favorite things about ff14 its a fairly chill dungeon and I've met some cool players while running it. Great video! love your content keep up the great work!
0:53 agreed, I wish we had the daily marks with an interface similar to the hunting logs tbh, it would make tracking which im missing alot easier to see quickly
I like how in the first minute you pretty much just come up with a simple and effective idea to make the overworld of ff14 more populated: weekly hunt log. It would be great if it was a thing, kill 3 of these 10 enemies per area of the game.
Copying this comment I made on the video under your comment as well because it might help you! "One thing about the hunt website, it's not only for Shadowbringers! If you click "Expansion" at the top right there is a drop-down for all of them. Another quick note is that I used this website for way too long before I noticed the "search" right in the middle of page where you can start typing the name of the mob and it will quick filter and you can just hit enter, saving you from having to tab through each zone and click the mobs one by one. Makes it MUCH faster!"
Your one of the main people I follow as I rejoined the game as of Corona times. Thx 4 continuing these vids. I haven't played since game orginally came out. I beat main game but now it's all new content to me. Loving every minute. :-)
I'm never able to learn a job by myself so I always watch a guide to understand a job + reading the action descriptions. Then I add them to my hotbar, even if I have yet to learn them, in the place I know it will be comfortable to me. After doing all that, I am ready to use deep dungeons for EXP and actually know what I'm doing. PvP gives a really good amount of EXP but yeah, you won't learn the job, even if you do play the class you are leveling, some actions play a bit different. Beast tribes, absolutely. Not much job learning here either, though. xD After reaching level 71 I just do Trust, PvP Roulette and Pixies quests. That's enough for me, I don't like to rush things :3.
Just started playing a month ago level 55 redmage love the game and been watching you for the last week and now subbing all the info and tips help me out alot and for That i say Thank you
I did my Marauder/Warrior from 1-30 in Palace of the Dead with some friends, did my class quests and then went into a normal dungeon, and was unsure how to properly tank. So yeah, I understand what you mean haha
I just subbed. You've been an amazing help for me, a returning player! I left in ARR long ago where Crystal Tower was hard. I came back without a clue. Watching your vids has helped so sooo much! Thank you!
So glad I found your videos. I’m a new player(lvl 41 Bard) and I’m really getting hooked on this game. Your videos are so informative and easy to listen to. 🙃
Trust is really good if you're looking for glamour pieces in lv71-80 dungeons and you don't want to lose it to other players. Also, whatever minion, housing item and music rolls that drops is all yours. Also you get to see Thancreds comment on the Talos boss with a wooden bucket on it's head in lv77 dungeon.
deep dungeon is actually really good for learning dps rotations IF you go in by yourself, because it forces you to be better or you'll die and it slowly introduces the skills one at a time so you can get used to them.
Great video, thanks for this. Been playing the game for about a year and this has always been sort of a mystery until now, only really been doing Fates on other jobs, thanks for this!!
Just started playing FFXIV last month, I have found your videos so helpful and entertaining..im a former wow player as well. You helped bring me to Final Fantasy so your so awesome!
Oh dude, I can’t be alone in saying PoTD/HoH is some of my favorite content in the game. When my wife couldn’t play with me (work conflict) I really wanted to play anyway so it was time for ALL THE POTD! I just sat there grinding out job after job listening to awesome podcasts accomplishing my gaming goals meeting fun people to talk to with very little fighting because the content was so easy. I LOOOOVE the meditative vibe I get in that sort of content. Was kinda surprised there was no Shadowbringers version tbh, but I guess it wasn’t that popular of content in terms of enjoyment. Oh well, Shadowbringers is mindblowingly good so no complaints from me! My wife and I absolutely love all your content by the way, you’re always right on the money!
Hi Zepla, thank you for making your guides I really find it useful. We appreciate you welcoming new ffxiv players, I was a hardcore Warzone player but now this game has become attached to me. It’s like a mixture of all epic fantasy moviesI’ve watched and I feel like I’m the one portraying the role. I started at Gridania as a lancer (because I play League of Legends) now to dragoon and waiting to become a Samurai and dark knight because I love to tank as well. I’m at lvl 49 mcq going 50!
Used to have that happen when I would level an alt for story stuff on a Road to 60 server with XP boosting gear on. Arcanist well into the 30s that still hadn't even fought Ifrit.
I really appreciate the care and details you put into your videos. Thanks to you, I am able to find these little things that help me get better as a player especially now that I have not played since the very beginning of heavenward this will help get in tune again with the game and level up my classes. Hopefully I'll get one of my classes to lv80 someday 😂 I'll also try to meet new adventurers to enjoy the game with 😁
I think weirdly, I enjoy going into Deep Dungeon Solo on jobs I already have a handle on. It's extremely challenging and sometimes frustrating, but there is something really fun about it to me.
Thanks. I learned a lot since I didn’t realize certain things for leveling and I completed Shadowbringers! This will make new jobs a heck of a lot easier now.
For the Deep Dungeon thing, I felt the same too... but for other classes I only used it to top off a level or two here and there now, for something different. Nice experience, in a bit of moderation.
Battleleves from the challenge log is good. The complete 5 leves can be done within mins on a much higher level class and then switch to the class you are leveling and you get a ton of XP. You can do the same for the complete 20 too. If you're leveling your first character, map completion is good to do.
Im so glad you talk about squadron because I literally braindead lvled all dps from 20 to 60 in there and everyone was skeptical. Now i have a reference xD
how i survive Deep Dungeon runs: do it only with people I know, while in a discord call, and while one of us shares a second screen with Netflix up, turning deep dungeons into movie night with friends basically
Some great tips, thanks Zepla. I had no idea about squadrons. I did the unlock quest but haven't done anything else with it yet. Definitely worth checking out it seems. xD
Lvl 47 perhaps? That's what happened to me when my summoner reached that Lvl. I couldn't progress because it needed Lvl 49. So I discovered the daily roulette and did that over and over for four and a half hours until I hit 50... Then on my second character I'd made for roleplaying purposes and see Gridania's storyline hit lvl 18 and reached satasha. Until then white mage felt much like arcanist. But then in satasha I fell deeply in love with healing/conjury. I didn't dread and hate group content like I did as summoner. I enjoyed it. I tried to resist, but I couldn't fight it. I had to use the free fantasia to change her race to hyur and made her my main. I'm now a lvl 37 white mage. I still have some catching up to do but I'm in love with healing. The other advantage is I haven't waited more than 30 seconds for any dungeon or boss. As smn it was never less than 14 minutes or so far more than 31.
Hey Zepla, great video! One thing about the hunt website, it's not only for Shadowbringers! If you click "Expansion" at the top right there is a drop-down for all of them. Whenever I play as a tank in squadrons, I take an arcanist with me. That extra healing makes the difference when my conjurer thinks that casting "Break" instead of healing me at
Potd and Hoh: You run with friends and have at least one of them be a healer, then try as hard as possible to die. Run away from the group, grab a bunch of mobs to drag back to everyone. It's very entertaining. Tip on learning classes: Start from floor 1 of PoTD. That way you can get skills 1 at a time and give yourself some time to familiarize yourself with what they dp. Same when you transition over to hoh.
I leveled red mage in potd and hoh, potd was easy because I wanted to get used to it (I'll get that necromancer title someday dangit!) And HoH let me get bardings and stuff i didn't have. I took a LONG (months)break from red mage until this past week. On the plus side playing solo in deep dungeons especially potd, got my reactions and management on red mage on point and its the only dps class i regularly get commends in mostly cause people are getting rezzed (sometimes whole parties) within a second of their deaths. Feels really good when ya hear you're a miracle worker. I thank my deep dungeon experience for this
I love soloing in DD's. Another plus of doing that is that you can go hunting for Hoards and not bug others doing so. :) It's a fun challenge, I haven't managed a 1-30 run in HoH, but I have done it on NIN and on WAR for 1-50 PotD. Might not be the coolest beans, but it was super fun to get there!
@@HayTatsuko hey in my opinion it all about having fun with it, and you don't have to waste your groups purity cause ur getting pox from opening every chest and finding mimics
What me and my friends do for our Main Story Roulettes is we que up a random Anime's OST, usually the music will match perfectly with the cutscenes and it's amazing. The best was Naruto's Sarrow and Sadness playing while Nero bitches about being second fiddle.
I haven't played since Stormblood. Definitely remember having a rotation of dailies, hunt logs, and quests. Afterwards: Fates until 50, Dungeons until 60, and PVP until 70.
What I learned: - Do the story FIRST - don’t be in a rush to max lvl - read and learn class and jobs and EVERYTHING really well - follow tooltips - DONT KILL THE TURTLE - rank up grand company and squadron stuffs - sum_(i=1)^n i^3=((n(n+1))/2)^2 - don’t f&%$ it up - don’t go full %$tard - learn more later - Have fun Thanks for your video, can’t wait to check this game out! Subbed.
Thank you!! I have a lvl 80 Gunbreaker...multiple jobs in the 50s etc...because of this video I just realized I never did the quest to unlock the Challenge log.... :((
Hi I just started playing FF 14 on your advice. I'm liking the game so far. Leveing wow after playing it since beta. I'm trying to lvk Rouge it is taking forever. I thank im missing something. Love you videos XD thank you for all your content ❤
I did hunts when i wanted to learn new classes rotations and general fight styles. Used ths seals I got and bought the zone run speed increases for those times when i'm too lazy to fly, some minions, a few barding, and then found that you can sell some of the other things on the market board for lots of gil.
I hate when people say "if you job skip you wont know how to play the job"...thats what training dummies are for and running random dungeons. Figure it out on the training dummy and I promise you can have it pegged down in a dungeon run or 2. I job skipped every class to 70 and have figured them all out on training dummies.
After watching your streams, I basically figured out a decent way to level up (which is mostly what you've talked about here) but also doing the highest level duty available helps too. Fates up until shadowbringers I found didnt give too much experience, but they're not too bad if you're waiting in the queue.
I have lived in the Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High getting my classes to either 60 or 70, and I'm not sick of either deep dungeons. What I do is I start from the first floor and when I reach the max level in the deep dungeons and once I'm comfortable running around the class in the level cap, I start farming the 21-30 for HoH or 51-60 for PotD. I do this so I won't be overwhelmed with skills and traits making it harder on myself in the long run and ruin my experience. As I'm racing to the boss I'm learning more about the class skills, optimal rotation, all while making jokes with some of the other players along the way. On my downtime, I read the skills I learned whether it be from the queue times or waiting to go to the next floor. I've done this with every class and this helped me to understand the classes more as well as enjoy them like DNC and DRK. Overall this helps me control the pace of learning my classes a bit faster, but not too much to avoid it for months or being burned out and while deep dungeons are not something I would recommend to everyone, I hope this helps others from avoiding a class that might actually be fun for them.
I did grind my way through PotD/HoH on Dragoon and Summoner. You're right about not learning the job this way, but if you can watch TV while you do it or really tune in to a podcast, it's not so bad. But I like repetitive grinding stuff, personally, and I also did hunts and beast tribe quests when I wanted to be more immersed in the game. I also wish they'd bring back levequests for non-crafters. I loved those.
I'm doing the MSQ for my first time and just finished the main sequence of ARR. The Praetorium was super frustrating for me. I never knew which buttons I had to push personally and which another player could hit. I ended up being behind in cutscenes because of the Magitek Identification switch thiny. I had NO idea that players shared cutscene time otherwise though. I assumed I was making everyone wait for me. Needless to say that "teleport to the battlefield" button was a nice surprise.
Same thing happened to me and red mage, played it for 3 expansions straight then dropped it for 2 months, I'm happy to say tho that I've since gotten back in to it
SparkNotes Verison for myself and others 1.) MAIN STORY QUEST or MSQ 2.) Hunting Log 3.) Guildhests (especially those close to your level) 4.) Hunt Bills (through Grand Company or GC - Let the Hunt Begin) 5.) Beast Tribe Quests 6.) Fates 7.) Squadron Command Missions (Second Lieutenant in your GC required plus squad lvl 20 mission completed) 8.) Daily Roulettes Especially Leveling or MSQ 9.) The highest level Dungeon you have 10.) Trust System 11.) PVP and their Daily Roulettes 12.) Deep Dungeon I'd say for me MSQ, Hunting Logs, Fates, and Daily Roulettes have helped the most
I just discovered the pvp exp switch this month and although it's not good for learning the class, i have to say i'm quite a fan of it. Especially since i'm progging some of those achievements.
When doing hunt bills, a good thing to do for ps4 players and people who don't like 3rd party tools is set the Recommendations tab to Hunt and then set it to open upon new area. Once you are done for the day you can set it back to never show. It's much faster than using the pages and you actually quickly memorize their locations and don't need a dumb website to hand hold you. :)
So yeah I had no idea how much exp you can get from the roulette. I was a level 45 and did one for the first time and got 337k exp...i swear I learn something new everytime I watch one of your videos! Thanks!
The Praetorium MSQ Rulette is the only time I manage to combine gaming and cleaning my apartment. I've come to appreciate this clash of two worlds.
Exactly, doing laundry, making lunch, cleaning, reading a book. All good ways to do MSQ roulette lol

Haha, exactly what I do when in MSQ roulette. Or I browse the FF Shop, if there is anything new.

I rather do nothing but MSQ roulettes for the rest of my life than deep dungeons. It is by far the most boring mechanic of this game. And I agree with Zepla, it's like buying job skips, you'll learn nothing.
To be fair, Trust AI has one advantage over the squadron AI, they actually dodge AoEs and do mechanics on their own.
@@HayTatsuko I mean... I do that if I can live the AOE. Black Mage rotations get ruined if you have to move.
Squadrons are basically immune to most AoEs anyway. Pure damage aoes do like 10% damage, damage fields simply don't affect them. It's mainly down to if something causes a status effect like pollen.
“I’m not about to leave a bunch of lalafells in my barrack unattended” lmao you’re amazing but you’re right I’d be super nervous about what’s going on in there 🤔
She is right to fear us
"If you haven't done the main quest/this is your first time, just do that first before any of this other stuff" okay, i guess I'll save this video for later.
I actually think deep dungeons can be good for learning and relearning jobs you don't use much if done right. You start at level 1 for PotD and get your skills back slowly enough to figure out how they fit in the rotation. Tedious as all heck, though.
Definitely useful for jobs that start at higher levels, as in the expansion ones.
"need a break from this guy" that Ninja guy was my favorite character of all the dps role quests. xD (Have all dps at lvl 80)
madara you would say that
Zepla, when you talk it sometimes sounds like you're close to laughing over the littlest things. I love it 💝 It's so cute and wholesome 😍

I'm a new FFXIV player so I watched a couple of your videos to learn the basics and I gotta say I find your relaxed tone of voice very soothing. Feel so nice compared to the fast paced, overexcited content delivery we usually get by youtubers.
Oooh, just what I needed. Started the game like a few days ago. Thank you!
Welcome to Eorzea! :)
Welcome to Norvrandt too
Hmmm too soon ?
So I have my finals in 5 hours and couldn't sleep, but your vid helped me. It was bunbelievably soothing. ❤️
MSQ: "if you can sit through it"... doing it as i watch this video

6 months later, im doing the same thing
I'm doing the MSQ too, anything that sounds like a fetch quest I just speed thru the text.

Deep dungeons seem ideal for leveling the classes you already know on your main on alts.

Ah the squadrons also know as Cecily heal me I swear to god
This whole video is just reminding me of all the stuff I can do in the game (though with the aertheryte earring I didn't need to yet).
I like how in the first minute you pretty much just come up with a simple and effective idea to make the overworld of ff14 more populated: weekly hunt log. It would be great if it was a thing, kill 3 of these 10 enemies per area of the game.
I wasn’t a fan of the hunts, but the website you mention in this video makes me eager to revisit them.
I just love how happy and giddy Zepla sounds in the beginning of the video, looks and sounds like she's gonna burst out giggling any second
Not much job learning here either, though. xD
After reaching level 71 I just do Trust, PvP Roulette and Pixies quests. That's enough for me, I don't like to rush things :3.
Just started playing a month ago level 55 redmage love the game and been watching you for the last week and now subbing all the info and tips help me out alot and for That i say Thank you
The buff for preferred server actually now is "Road to 70" :) Source: Had it until a few months ago :D
You are right about this. Had it until like, a week ago.
Thank you!
Great video--- thank you for taking the time to post this
So glad I found your videos.
I’m at lvl 49 mcq going 50!
such good info and really useful guide gave me motivation to actually go back and rank up my squadron thnx Zepla!
One thing I like to do when starting a new character is be hilariously over leveled. Like being level 15 at level 4 msq's.
Used to have that happen when I would level an alt for story stuff on a Road to 60 server with XP boosting gear on. Arcanist well into the 30s that still hadn't even fought Ifrit.
i actually like doing the opposite, i'll start a quest and switch to a lower level character so it's harder
The first thing you should have mentioned is to sacrifice a lalafell. That helps with leveling a lot.
I would recommend a few just to be on the safe side.
Ha, that's the reason I thought she had so many in her squadron! And having Rivienne as the chaperon was hilarious!
Ooooh, I thought it was sacrifice to a lalafell. My bad, thanks for the correction.
They’re not worth much. But they’ll do.
Really needed this, on the quest to master all classes and have been only doing levequests and daily roulette's
This is great! Just what I've been needing. Thanks!
8:44 damn, I love how SE kept the name Mouche Volante in french even in the english version to not translate it into FLYING FLY
I really appreciate the care and details you put into your videos. Thanks to you, I am able to find these little things that help me get better as a player especially now that I have not played since the very beginning of heavenward this will help get in tune again with the game and level up my classes. Hopefully I'll get one of my classes to lv80 someday 😂 I'll also try to meet new adventurers to enjoy the game with 😁
"I don't want you to fail at the first 'turtle'" ayyyyyyyy!
Just getting into this game. Loving it. The people are simply a lot nicer.
how i survive Deep Dungeon runs: do it only with people I know, while in a discord call, and while one of us shares a second screen with Netflix up, turning deep dungeons into movie night with friends basically
now, if only I had friends... :p
@@Orynae i just made a new friend yesterday by hanging out in uldah and passing free shields out to low level shieldless gladiators.
Dude the discord movie nights are kind of fire!🔥some pretty good times to come outta that.
Thank you so much for your how-to videos! It makes catching sprouts up to speed soooo much easier.
Some great tips, thanks Zepla. I had no idea about squadrons. I did the unlock quest but haven't done anything else with it yet. Definitely worth checking out it seems. xD
I finished levelling and got my Amaro mount 3 weeks ago. Wish I had known that thing about PvP. It was a long journey.
This popped up in my recommended just as I got stuck in MSQ due to being too low level :P
I knew that feeling, all too well, in leveling my main.
Then there's me I was at least 15lvl over the required lvl for each MSQ quest lol
As smn it was never less than 14 minutes or so far more than 31.

hi zepla, played ff14 for half a year now and been steaming your videos during game breaks... just wanna say i love your channel 💕
Aaaaa I really love arcanists for Squadrons. I feel like I love their extra healing and their aoe damage over time fields and pets
So far best guide for leveling i seen so far. Is why I love your channel
What I learned:
- Do the story FIRST
- don’t be in a rush to max lvl
- read and learn class and jobs and EVERYTHING really well
- follow tooltips
- DONT KILL THE TURTLE
- rank up grand company and squadron stuffs
- sum_(i=1)^n i^3=((n(n+1))/2)^2
- don’t f&%$ it up
- don’t go full %$tard
- learn more later
- Have fun
Thanks for your video, can’t wait to check this game out! Subbed.

“I guess they wanted to tempt... FATE”
This made me laughed harder than it should’ve lol
Hi your videos are very informative. I have just started FF14 and i feel that this is a awesome game. Keep up the excellent content!
I only come here to hear you talk. Something about your voice makes me relaxed. I use your videos as ASMR helps me sleep
I just played the game this year and I'm glad I invest my time in squadron in my early gameplay.
Same thing happened to me and red mage, played it for 3 expansions straight then dropped it for 2 months, I'm happy to say tho that I've since gotten back in to it
SparkNotes Verison for myself and others
1.) MAIN STORY QUEST or MSQ
2.) Hunting Log
3.) Guildhests (especially those close to your level)
4.) Hunt Bills (through Grand Company or GC - Let the Hunt Begin)
5.) Beast Tribe Quests
6.) Fates
7.) Squadron Command Missions (Second Lieutenant in your GC required plus squad lvl 20 mission completed)
8.) Daily Roulettes Especially Leveling or MSQ
9.) The highest level Dungeon you have
10.) Trust System
11.) PVP and their Daily Roulettes
12.) Deep Dungeon
I'd say for me MSQ, Hunting Logs, Fates, and Daily Roulettes have helped the most
I just discovered the pvp exp switch this month and although it's not good for learning the class, i have to say i'm quite a fan of it. Especially since i'm progging some of those achievements.
My favourite way to level up a Job is being a Tank main and having 10 second ques.
Try healer 0.5 second que lol
The tank life Is awesome lol

When doing hunt bills, a good thing to do for ps4 players and people who don't like 3rd party tools is set the Recommendations tab to Hunt and then set it to open upon new area. Once you are done for the day you can set it back to never show. It's much faster than using the pages and you actually quickly memorize their locations and don't need a dumb website to hand hold you. :)
Your voice is seriously intoxicating! Great vid btw! makes me want to get back in the game
This is super informative for someone who's recently come back to XIV. Gosh. @_@
