My daughter, whose 11, has always struggled with eczema. As she’s getting older, and responsible for her own hygiene, it was like pulling teeth to get her to apply moisturizer after a shower, even when she knew that her skin needs something after getting wet to avoid flare ups. Turns out every lotion or cream stung her EXCEPT Aveeno Eczema Therapy. We discovered this by buying every moisturizer in the drug store for eczema or sensitive skin that we didn’t already own (thankfully our insurance covers some over the counter moisturizers). CeraVe, Cetaphil, Vaseline Intensive Care, and Eucerin cream all stung her. I was starting to think that she was just being a typical pre-teen who doesn’t like anything Mom suggests. As a last ditch effort we tried the Aveeno Eczema Balm that I use on my baby after bath and it worked (she associated it with babies and was clear that she was NOT a baby or anything like her brother). She goes through it like it’s going out of style now and she notices enough of a difference to comment. Everyone is different, but the Aveeno Eczema line proved to me that the best moisturizer for her was one that she would use. If you haven’t tried it and have sensitive skin, it’s definitely worth a try. Everyone in our family likes it. Okay, novel complete.

roxcyn I honestly don’t know. Her pediatrician wrote prescriptions and I took them to the pharmacy. We got big tubs of aquaphor, cetaphil, vanicream, and I think cerave. We also had a mixture made of a cream mixed with petroleum jelly and hydrocortisone cream that we used for certain nasty flare ups. The doctor offered to write prescriptions for the tubs and I willingly took them. However, to be clear, my daughter had debilitating eczema as a young child and it’s still pretty bad. Truly, I didn’t know eczema could be so severe and she has permanent scars on her arms and legs.

My mom used to give us kids oatmeal baths as kids. She would put the oatmeal in pantyhose stockings. That way we got the benefits of the oatmeal and it wasnt as messy. This was back before there was preparations of oatmeal for skin. It might work with the aveeno packets. She would just add them to the water, then use the oatmeal filled stocking to gently wash us instead of soap and wash cloth. In NY, stores generally dont have body sunscreen in winter because people wear warm clothing so there is no need. But they do have facial sunscreens.

As a microbiologist I get so excited when I see alcohol in anything because let’s kill all the bacteria BUT then I see it in skincare...terrifying thought putting that on my skin! Same with essential oils and anything with fragrance! Also, I went to sephora the other day and Drunk Elephant was recommended to me and I basically said “if it has essential oils and fragrance I don’t want it. They irritate the skin”...I don’t believe the lady working there believed me 😂

A lot of people seem to like Abolene and it's great when you find something that works for you. I don't personally care for non rinse-off cleansers because I don't like residue left on you skin. So I just use an balm cleanser that rinses clean instead. Also, for people who wear eye makeup AND false lashes, a non oil-based eye makeup remover is essential because it allows them to reuse their false lashes without them getting coated in residue. Bioderma micellar water is particularly great for that.

Simple products are really slept on and seemingly obscure. Their moisturizer is my go-to must have. It just melts right into the face, I love that one for application before makeup.

Check out pearl +glutathione and milk lotion. It works great for me. Has cleared my acne and is great in fading dark spots. It is literally my body moisturizer.

I love how you call out the bath treatments❣️
Colloidal oatmeal is great stuff - my skin loves it. 🥰Loved the Aveeno Baby Night Balm recommendation.
I use baking soda and occasionally chlorine bleach for my eczema.

Dr. Dray, a little thing I learned about oatmeal baths to make it less messy, is to put the oatmeal mix in a clean tube sock and dab it on your skin! You get the soothing benefit, without the horrible tub ring!🙌🏻

Hello! I love watching you! Can you make a video all about psoriasis, my mom has 3 types and I can only think of plaque psoriasis, she suffers so bad and is in constant pain and itching. Showers hurt bad and she has tried everything, she has been on everything from topical steroids to stuff like cosyntex and two other kinds of injections. She found some relief in just plan Vaseline.
Does not seem like her dermatologist really cares about her and is not trying to hard but she can’t switch because of insurance.
Love your videos and you are so pretty!

Omg Dr. Dray, I'm finally back! Just had my baby over a month ago!!!! I literally binged watched you everyday but over the few months of being pregnant I had many complications and now that baby is finally here I am finally able to catch up. So I've been watching a lot of videos!!!! I totally love your channel. I developed a lot backne and acne and huge painful zits while pregnant so now I'm trying to fight it off. I cannot take any antibiotics due to breast feeding. So your videos are super helpful. I even developed dark armpits. I know it's TMI but you are truly a life saver!!!! When not pregnant I don't have any breakouts at all but once I go through the whole nine yards with the pregnancy I break out BAD!!!!!!!!!!! So now I'm waiting slowly to just get rid of it all!
Miss you so much! I enjoy your videos so much especially these types!!!!! Thank you!!

I've been using Albolene for a couple of years now ,and I love it as it gently, quickly, and easily removes waterproof mascara, make-up, and sunscreen. My teenage daughter who has acne prone skin also uses uses it. A tub lasts us almost two years! It works and saves $! Thanks for confirming it's safe use for us when I first started watching you in the past!

I've only been watching your videos for a short time so im not entirely sure if you've done this but I would love if you could go over drug store/low end price point foundations. Just to see what's the least damaging and upsetting to eczema prone skin.
