ALLYSUN I use the banana boat simply protect baby version. It’s the one that Dr. Dray pointed to on the shelf with the pink cap. At Target, it’s like $7. I love it, and I use it year round. I also use “Altruist” sunscreen, but that one you have to order on Amazon from the UK. I used Dr. Drays link in her description box to pick that one up. Super affordable, and comes in a big pump bottle if you want the big size. 👌

I asked Dr. Dray about using diaper rash cream for my mild eczema on my upper thigh and apparently she didn't know. I personally wouldn't use diaper rash cream as a sunscreen, but there are "sunscreens" that I have tried that left a far worse white cast than diaper cream. We need to be our own advocates when it comes to our own skin care needs.

    • @palladio7476
      @palladio7476 5 років тому +3

@@cassiebrown9786 I agree about being our own advocates but a big part of that is research of ingredients and intelligent decision making. If there is no testing on a product in terms of sunscreen filters and there are hundreds of tested SPF products to choose from then as an intelligent advocate the choice seems pretty clear. My experience with using thick, occlusive diaper rash ointment on children and grandchildren for many years and trying to wash it off my hands after applying it to bottoms makes me wonder why in the world would anyone want to put it on their face.
Maybe this came from the same old ideas about putting toothpaste on blemishes, scrubbing your face with baking soda or using ACV as a toner which all originated in a time when we didnt have so many efficatious products to choose from. Cheers!

I had a humanitarian trip to Costa Rica and lived with families there. After a day a the beach, and every 15 minutes suncreen application, hat and shade almost the entire time I still managed to get burned with my fragile skin. My arms where swelling and my mom in my family there used baby rash cream and they explained that the zinc in that cream was what was helping the skin. My sunburns got somuch better and the swelling reduced!

Thank you so much for sharing all your insights! I've been incorporating your advise since last August and my skin has visibly improved over these past 6 months. My main concern has always been hyperpigmentation as a result of acne and both have dramatically reduced. No acne, and one side of my face is completely clear of hyperpigmentation - the other side takes a little bit longer but I see the improvements there as well. This is the regimen I've stuck to for the past 6 months:
    Morning:
    Cereva Hydration Facial Cleanser
Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream
    Melano Vitamin C
    Cereva Moisturizing Cream
Elta MD UV Physical Broad Spectrum SPF 41
    Evening:
    MUJI Oil Cleanser
    Cereva Hydration Facial Cleanser
Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream
The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
    The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
    Cereva Moisturizing Cream
Twice a week in the evening:
COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

So great, as always! I wish people realized that it’s important to preserve cosmetics and to keep them stable over time. I bought some handmade soap on Etsy, and it grew mold on it! It was difficult to notice because I shower in the morning when I’m exhausted and bleary-eyed. Plus, my eyesight is terrible, and I don’t wear glasses in the shower. On top of that, there were herbs in the soap that surfaced over time, and it camouflaged the mold, and the texture was slimy from the get go. I have no idea how long I was enthusiastically rubbing mold all over my body 🙈😩😖🤮 NEVER AGAIN.

She's so right; my daughter into the teenage years has tried this and that, went to a dermatologist. And her skin is a mess. I think she just has really sensitive skin. We went to a hotel one time and the pillow case sent her face into a tizzy. That was the one time and only time a doctor said it was okay to use hydrocortisone on the face. I think the more stuff you use, try, the more confusing it gets. We do not use hydrocortisone on a regular basis though because I think they said it was a cousin to a steroid. Then you get into makeup, even a popular noncomedogenic one (won't say name) also caused a mess with her face (stinging).

I’ve learned a lot from Cruelty Free Kitty online. I’m trying so hard not to buy products that test on animals but it’s really difficult. One thing I learned was all the “parent” companies that produce these products and sell in China. It’s quite interesting who owns what too. If your product is sold in China (there are many) and maybe other countries test on animals too, it is mandatory the product be tested on animals. I really enjoy your videos though. I heard about you from Dr. Davin Lim when he was doing a drugstore video. Love him too.

After starting the retinol, my skin drastically improved but I started developing dying/peeling around my chin. I tried the Baume, wary that it would break me out, but it helped with my peeling and also speed up the process of my healing acne!

Michelle Tidler I don’t color my hair, but it is drying for my gray hair without the conditioner. The conditioner makes the difference for me. Also, I don’t wash my hair every day. I just wash my bangs every day because my forehead gets oily. Another thing I do, I use the CeraVe Cream as a leave in conditioner. I put a small amount on wet hands and run it through my hair, then comb it through. It works great!

When I went for PT on my hands after Carpal Tunnel surgery, the Hand Therapist told me NOT to wear the silicone strip all the time but to only wear it when sleeping. She said if you wear it all the time, doing that can cause a different type of skin condition. You don’t want to keep it constantly moist. But treatment varies depending on the type of scar & it may not be effective for everyone.

if you don't have huge fragrance allergy, this won't work, but you can use the medical shampoos for scalp, then follow with your normal conditioner just on the hair. i find it helps me - but i have wavy thick hair and don't style it, i just put it in pony tail. but my constantly itchy scalp isn't anymore thanks to all the info learned from Dr Dray! so i doubt this will work for everyone who styles their hair, but it's worth a try!

Joan Vignocchi Me too. I struggle with the “leave on” time with the shampoo tho because I also like to leave my conditioner on for 5-10 minutes. Then sometimes even a hair mask/treatment. Makes for a long shower time. Which isn’t *always* a bad thing, but it isn’t for “quick shower” days. 😊
