      ALLYSUN I use the banana boat simply protect baby version. It’s the one that Dr. Dray pointed to on the shelf with the pink cap. At Target, it’s like $7. I love it, and I use it year round. I also use “Altruist” sunscreen, but that one you have to order on Amazon from the UK. I used Dr. Drays link in her description box to pick that one up. Super affordable, and comes in a big pump bottle if you want the big size. 👌

      I asked Dr. Dray about using diaper rash cream for my mild eczema on my upper thigh and apparently she didn't know. I personally wouldn't use diaper rash cream as a sunscreen, but there are "sunscreens" that I have tried that left a far worse white cast than diaper cream. We need to be our own advocates when it comes to our own skin care needs.

    • @palladio7476
      @palladio7476 5 років тому +3

      @@cassiebrown9786 I agree about being our own advocates but a big part of that is research of ingredients and intelligent decision making. If there is no testing on a product in terms of sunscreen filters and there are hundreds of tested SPF products to choose from then as an intelligent advocate the choice seems pretty clear. My experience with using thick, occlusive diaper rash ointment on children and grandchildren for many years and trying to wash it off my hands after applying it to bottoms makes me wonder why in the world would anyone want to put it on their face.
      Maybe this came from the same old ideas about putting toothpaste on blemishes, scrubbing your face with baking soda or using ACV as a toner which all originated in a time when we didnt have so many efficatious products to choose from. Cheers!

    Thank you so much for sharing all your insights! I've been incorporating your advise since last August and my skin has visibly improved over these past 6 months. My main concern has always been hyperpigmentation as a result of acne and both have dramatically reduced. No acne, and one side of my face is completely clear of hyperpigmentation - the other side takes a little bit longer but I see the improvements there as well. This is the regimen I've stuck to for the past 6 months:
    Morning:
    Cereva Hydration Facial Cleanser
    Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream
    Melano Vitamin C
    Cereva Moisturizing Cream
    Elta MD UV Physical Broad Spectrum SPF 41
    Evening:
    MUJI Oil Cleanser
    Cereva Hydration Facial Cleanser
    Hada Labo Skin Plumping Gel Cream
    The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
    The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
    Cereva Moisturizing Cream
    Twice a week in the evening:
    COSRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

    So great, as always! I wish people realized that it’s important to preserve cosmetics and to keep them stable over time. I bought some handmade soap on Etsy, and it grew mold on it! It was difficult to notice because I shower in the morning when I’m exhausted and bleary-eyed. Plus, my eyesight is terrible, and I don’t wear glasses in the shower. On top of that, there were herbs in the soap that surfaced over time, and it camouflaged the mold, and the texture was slimy from the get go. I have no idea how long I was enthusiastically rubbing mold all over my body 🙈😩😖🤮 NEVER AGAIN.

    I’ve learned a lot from Cruelty Free Kitty online. I’m trying so hard not to buy products that test on animals but it’s really difficult. One thing I learned was all the “parent” companies that produce these products and sell in China. It’s quite interesting who owns what too. If your product is sold in China (there are many) and maybe other countries test on animals too, it is mandatory the product be tested on animals. I really enjoy your videos though. I heard about you from Dr. Davin Lim when he was doing a drugstore video. Love him too.

    Every time I see a video showing an American pharmacy I'm shocked by how many products they sell. How many plastic bottles. I'm trying to cut down to a more minimalist life. So glass bottles and natural skincare like natural oils for me.

      Right! We talk about single use water bottles, but good lord the cosmetics industry is a huge plastics dump. I like attractive & safe packaging. I even try to reuse things like pump tops and glass dropper bottles. But I feel terrible every time I watch some empties videos. 😱

      I was especially shocked about olay (in Germany it is marketed as Oil of Olaz), I remember the days when they only had that light pink bottle. I mean in Germany we have Nivea Creme but not even them have expanded their range like this. But I know other countries have different Nivea stuff. Consumerism is insane. The most prominent brands are living of their reputation that is based on some uneducated guesses or a kind of family tradition since for example Nivea was the only cream that people after the war times in the booming phase (50s - 60s) could buy (and afford). People buy that stuff because other people buy it and take this as a validation for quality -_- I always think, please read the ingredients list (but then they would only search for parabens or silicones -_- I guess, we can't win)

      Can't some of the containers be recycled? I know some Asian skin care sells refills in packs that you dump into the original container.

    • @ninak8506
      @ninak8506 5 років тому +10

      @@pickledginger5876 yes they can be and are recycled at our home. The problem becomes that recycling centers have no use for the volume of recycling they get and is frequently dumped in landfills. Putting a recycling symbol on the container doesn't solve the problem. Many people don't bother to recycle because if the extent you have to clean the container before recycling.

    Hi Dr Dray! I love these "Shop with ME" videos!! I've been using Rogaine for a few years. I'm interested in adding Nizoral shampoo to the mix to try and add density to my hair. How often do I need to use it in order for it to be effective? Do I need to keep it on my scalp for a certain length of time? I don't have dandruff or any other scalp condition. I look forward to your videos every day! I appreciate you so much. Thank you.

      @Barbi Love Yes, it IS pseudoscience because what she states goes against medical evidence. She spews nonsense by saying that consuming certain foods will give you all of the sun protection one needs. BUT she now uses Botox because she can’t figure out why she’s aging prematurely. 😆
      You can’t make this stuff up; it only exists on YT.

      Renee' I recently saw a younger UA-camr presenting reasons not to use sunscreen. And it makes me mad as well! There are so many who dont want to use sunscreen because they havent explored all the pleasant, comfortable options that are available and all it takes in someone on UA-cam giving them encouragement to forgo sunscreen for them to latch on. I find that really disreputable.

    She's so right; my daughter into the teenage years has tried this and that, went to a dermatologist. And her skin is a mess. I think she just has really sensitive skin. We went to a hotel one time and the pillow case sent her face into a tizzy. That was the one time and only time a doctor said it was okay to use hydrocortisone on the face. I think the more stuff you use, try, the more confusing it gets. We do not use hydrocortisone on a regular basis though because I think they said it was a cousin to a steroid. Then you get into makeup, even a popular noncomedogenic one (won't say name) also caused a mess with her face (stinging).
