So excited to share this reaction! As mentioned in the UA-cam community post, some recent reaction videos have been getting flagged for copyright infringement, even when they are produced in fear use - thank goodness this wasn’t one of them! Dr. Dray is so amazing and I’m excited to be able to share my reactions to her routine - and learn a few things at the same time! Be sure to go check out her original video, linked here!! ua-cam.com/video/nJjSqAqzP6k/v-deo.html Enjoy!
Dr. Dre started off with good intention, I hope; but she has become completely corrupt. It's all about product pushing whatever sponsor will pay her. Its unfortunate.
Keep doing the good work . Making good skin care videos. People who make bad comment on your contents they are obviously know and interested in watching your videos . You are very knowledgeable. Only fools will not be able understand how you explain everything with science and facts
@@chanimarie6753 yes she has. She also is unhealthy and have so many people following her. She obviously is using her veganism lifestyle to hide an eating disorder. I dont feel her vibes anymore with the product advertisement and apps to download, like why? Why is she doing this? Doesnt her regular job pay enough? One would think so but anyways I stopped following her.
Because of Dr. Dray I decided to see a dermatologist about a weirdly shaped mole I had on my arm. Turned out to be cancerous , just had it removed. Shes literally out here saving lives and teaching us the importance of sunscreen.
Seriously? You didn’t know this without Dray?? Wow, just wow. Local dermatologist office has done free skin cancer screenings for over 2 decades. I’ve worn spf on my face for....?? Thirty odd years?? Seriously, you wouldn’t have known this without watching a UA-cam video?
amelia I would say that people aren’t using the wisdom given to them, and instead are solely relying on a influencer, for something like skin cancer. My brother had a basal cell carcinoma scrapped out of his head, and a melanoma surgically removed, again from his head. UA-cam played no part in seeking treatment. This Is a big deal, that you should be vigilant about. How to’s for hair and makeup? Sure. To not know about skin cancer, moles changing shapes? If that’s a problem, I’m afraid only Dray followers would see or think that.
Esthetician= skin care specialists that mainly focus on the appearance of the skin. Dermatologist= doctors who went to medical schools. They are also skincare specialist but the mostly focus on skin health
Omg this. I was literally about to comment the same thing. It’s impossible for one person to know absolutely everything about the skin. This is why there are specialties and it’s important to keep this in mind when deciding whether or not to follow a particular piece of advice.
@Macy Frazier well even a medical esthetician goes through only 2 years of school while a dermatologist goes through 8 years of schooling and a few more years of residency. It’s clear who is more qualified. However I would never tear down two highly qualified women because of the looks of thier skin. It is clean they both look beautiful.
I honestly think dr Dray is a wonderful dermatologist she’s helped me find money saving products that have helped me ... as far as her health I do worry about her weight but it’s not my life
Brandi Sodemann I think she wants to body build based on how she eats and works out. But I don’t think she understands that her diet is incomplete without fats. Along with her being naturally skinny (basing this off of her childhood photos she showed off in a vlog) I think she is damaging her body. Also her mother is dealing with cancer along with Covid 19, I worry that she will cope with over working out.
That could very well be the case and while this doesn't apply to you I've seen a lot of people who take some weird joy in mocking her because of her weight and making fun of her looks and saying that people shouldn't take things she says about skincare seriously due to this. What exactly is the logic these people are following, if you really think somebody has an eating disorder your first instinct/knee jerk reaction is to mock them, call them ugly, and then call them stupid for "not realizing it"? Wow, how very enlightened, you're so smart, so much smarter than that person for having an illness, good for you! Only stupid people get illnesses and they shouldn't be trusted! Eating disorders are a type of mental illness, it is a constant fight with yourself and your own mind and the distorted perception you have of your body, what decent person thinks that it's okay and normal to mock people due to struggling with this and say these people should be treated with disdain? I've come across some really nasty things being said about her in skincare reddit communities where people just inexplicably take some weird holier-than-thou joy in gossiping about her like a group of spiteful old ladies and comparing her to this and that cartoon character or whatever. It's so bizarre and twisted. What kind of "concern" is wrapped up in so much vicious snark? If you truly believe somebody is going through something as painful and difficult to get rid of as an eating disorder, what the hell are you so insufferably smug and snarky about? What really gets me is that they genuinely believe they're somehow better people while acting this way. If you had an ounce of basic kindness or empathy, would this be the way to approach somebody you think is unwell? A lot of people who perversely claim to be "concerned" really seem to be to just be bullies who feel better about themselves and feel a little thrill of power when they say awful things about people, they also seem to enjoy feeling like they're "bringing down" a person in the public eye who is liked and respected by a lot of people. That'll show her for being popular on youtube! You think you're so smart well, gotchya! I've seen very similar behaviour towards actresses or pubic figures and whatnot that are clearly going through something in their lives and it's downright surreal to witness the mockery and passive-aggressive dislike of people for....having an illness that distorts their own perception of themselves? I really hope these people never have a friend with an eating disorder, I can only imagine the type of "support" they would offer. "Uh...just stop being sick? lol I really can't take you seriously when you're being so dumb, go eat a sandwich." Ah, problem solved.
@@amaliab6682 Yes Thank you for that. I highly respect her opinion as a physician and what a person eats or does not eat is none of my business. As far as I am concerned one thing has nothing to do with the other. People like to sit anonymously behind the keyboard and troll and spew hate.
@@PS-bn6st - agreed. More veggies in our diets are a good thing, but by my estimate, she's eating upwards of 60 grams of fiber per day which isn't necessary. I also noticed with her (and other vegans I know), that there's a trend to not eating fat of any kind; fats in nuts are OK, but no olive oil in the cooking process or avocado oil in a salad dressing. I don't know why that is, but I have many vegan friends who refuse to have oil when healthy oils consumed in moderation are good for you and studies show (I think University of Idaho did a study) and aid in absorption of macro nutrients. I don't understand the obsession behind being so restrictive of foods that are 'perceived' to be unhealthy, especially when scientific evidence states otherwise. I do understand (and support) the desire to be kind to animals and eating for the planet, I am behind that 1000%, but to this extreme? Nope. There's a happy medium.
@@RockeyToes I'm vegan and Italian cut off my olive oil and I'll be dead, jeez. GOOD olive oil is gold. We should say there are people who follow a HEALTHY vegan diet (and healthiness I guess is relative too) and just follow a diet and then being vegan which is a whole different
@@silverwolfeve I agree! But the number of vegan friends who don't eat any oils whatsoever has me stumped (it's their life, so have at it)... My husband didn't care for olive oil or balsamic vinegar until I introduced him to a good quality. His opinion changed quickly!
Through Dr. Dray I switched from expensive cleansers that didnt really help to Cerave gentle wash and moisturizer cream and my skin is so much better now.
just wanna warn that cerave moisturizer contains phenoxyethanol which is known to be very harmful for you.. a lot of products contain phenoxyethanol but theres not enough awareness on it.. a simple google search will reveal a lot about how harmful it can be if absorbed into the skin continuously..
To your comment about dermatologists using fewer products as compared to most influencers, I think that in many ways it comes down to motivations. Dermatologists careers are not built around selling you a multitude of products that may or may not work but instead would rather you use products that are likely to help you. This means promoting and using products which have usually been vetted, have been peer reviewed, and (may!) have been around for longer. As influencers typically make their livelihood from trying out and promoting new products, there is a huge incentive to have large, multilayer, and complicated routines as it gives them more opportunities to sell different products. While both influencers and dermatologists are expected to have good skin for dealing with clients, dermatologists don't have the advantage of studio lighting and camera filters. In other words, bad skin days from experimenting with new products would likely be difficult to hide and/or justify (office lights tend to not be the most forgiving 😉). This is not me saying derms good, influencer bad, but rather that the two business models are different and that it's important to understand that when making your own decisions.
There are some dermatologist an dothers who actually have backed up a product, that does not have to be that great, but I guarantee they make tons of money from recommending and the products simply don't work for everyone
Smart way to get high number of viewers . Dr Dray is my dermatologist of choice. She literally saved my skin, had second degree burns and open wounds, since my skin is extremely sensitive and had to adjust all my skincare and routines. Thanks to her medically based information i feel my skin giving me some rest

@@mwoods4608 I hope she's okay... I'm shocked she's able to exercise every day especially after looking at her diet too. I'm a little OCD, used to be addicted to exercise and my coaches used to get on to me for overdoing it on the daily. Nothing against her personally but there are some red flag behaviors here and at times it's even triggering, something that many people may not realize.
Dr. Dray has totally transformed how I take care of my skin and hair! I'm seeing great results for a fraction of the cost of what I used to spend! Thank you for this video! I always look forward to your videos!
Nail Eclipse right?! She is such a vault of knowledge! Appreciate her and all she does Dash and I’m so happy that you found this video entertaining and hopefully insightful! Sending you so many hugs!
Im shook as well. My white friends always look at me like i dropped out of space whenever i have my bonnet on. You should hear me trying to explain to them why its important and they still never get it. lol!
Most white people do not use them. I don’t know anyone who does. Though my mom wore scarves and wraps a lot of the time when her hair was long....it’s very thick and curly. I didn’t get any of my mom’s hair genes, unfortunately.
I use them but I have curly hair, I dont know any people with straight hair that use them tho. But they are so important so maybe more people should start
I’m asian and I use it because I have curly hair :p. I’m often afraid that if I say this to others that I’ll be scrutinized and people will think I’m appropriating even though I use it so my hair doesn’t have any breakage.
I've been as esthetician for almost 11 years and I also only wash my face once a day at night. People are always so surprised about that! More is not always more!!! Less is more;)
@@martynaaleksandra3062 it's hard to tell without being able to analyze your skin. But I will say this the most important things in skin care is to use ph balanced products. It's will say this on the package if it is. If it's not pH balanced it fights with your own levels and will cause the oil, breakouts and other issues. Also exfoliate once or twice a week. Try these only with washing your face at night and see if it helps. The company I use for my facials is called repechage. I would recommend the hydra medic line, it's ph balanced as well. Good luck!
I love dr dray...she's really the best when it comes to skincare I've tried some of her skincare routines for my dry skin and my skin looks and feels amazing.....love you dr dray
Shameema Isaacs Dr Dray is the real deal ! I started using some of the products she reviewed with great skepticism. However, my skin has never been so good when it comes to irritation. I barely have red dry patches anymore on cheeks !
I trust Dr Dray fully. Her skin looks great and she looks at least 10 years younger than she is if not more. I have purchased at least 3 product she recommended and they have worked FLAWLESSLY. I have combo skin with acne and major sub damage so typically it’s hard for me to find products that work for me, but not since I found Dr Dray
Dr dray is the best, she’s literally saved my skin and saved me a lot of money as I have been able to look for specific ingredients on cheaper cosmetics and stop using certain unnecessary ones. Long live dr dray!
Dr Dray really knows her stuff! Her channel helped me build a great and affordable skincare routine a couple years ago when I was healing from an allergic reaction. Thanks for highlighting her routine!
When I follow dr drays advice to a T, such as putting moisturizer on damp skin, not over showering or in water that’s too hot, my skin feels so much better. I love her simplicity and her wit, she cracks me up.
Dr Dray has helped me with my hair, my eczema and my aging skin regimen. Her knowledge and understanding of how the body works has helped me alot. Always enjoy her videos.
I’m also a licensed Esthetician, and certified massage therapist. I like that you talk about people being overly gentle with their skin. Massage and deep stimulation can be great at increasing circulation, oxygenation, firmness, plumpness, and renewal rate of tissue.
Totally! I used to be a MT for years and I massage my body and face every day! I was pregnant in massage school and I think it was SO helpful in keeping my skin supple
I'm happy to find another person who only washes their face once a day. I have super sensitive, rosacea prone skin and I notice my skin looks a lot healthier, even toned and glowier when I only wash in the evening. I feel like hardly anyone who's into skincare does this!
I have the same issue as you. i need to pay attention to rosacea and my skin is super sensitive. I only cleanse my face with micellar water, because virtually all cleansers leave my face feeling super tight and i avoid that sensation at all costs. Anyways, i only cleanse my moisturizers, sunscreen, lipstick and eyeshadows. Im into skincare a lot and i really dont pay attention to anyone except dermatologists and how my skin reacts to products. take a look at the videos from harpers bazaars dermatologists, they're super informative and more than one claims that you should listen to your own skin.
Dr Dray deserves her flowers. She's the best dermatologist ive encountered, her advice has really helped me understand and control my hormonal acne that i battled for 8 years.
love and respect dr dray’s skincare knowledge but i am among those who are worried for her health. some of her dietary recs in her “what i eat” style videos are...a bit jarring. i hope she’s alright.
Alyssa J i have *heard* (emphasis on heard) that she strictly moderates her comments, removing any that refer or even allude to her health/weight - but i’ve never paid close enough attention to her comments to witness this happening myself. i do know that the subject almost never comes up in the comment sections i see, which could suggest she moderates them. because, as respectfully as possible, it’s too obvious for none of her subscribers to notice.
@@-alyssa-marie- Why? Do you think you will shame her into eating more? What does gossiping about her on other channels accomplish? She's had this problem for a long time from what I see. I doubt any of you are saying something she hasn't heard before.
@@Sarah89851 I know you mean well, but why do you think anyone would want hundreds of thousands of people having a discussion about how they look unhealthy? Would an overweight woman like people to have conversations about her weight when she's talking about say legal matters? Would you walk up to let's say a teacher and express concern for anorexia? IMO these are conversation that should be brought up by close friends and family not strangers on the internet. I'm sure she's heard the concern over and over and has probably tuned it out. I wonder from a mental health perspective if all the well-meaning "concern" makes her less likely to get help. It could be making her dig her heels in more.
Why do we fall for a piece of plastic with some lights and wires and why would $2.00 worth of material become $1200.00???? Ladies??? Why??? Why is this perpetuated??? 🤔🤔🤔🙏🏻🌟❤️

I started using tretinoin about 2 months ago and my acne is almost all gone, my skin sooooo smooth and even. It’s literally all I put on at night after my shower. Highly recommend! I’ll be using it for life 🙌
Tierra McClendon hey honey! I actually just asked my doctor and she wrote me a script and I picked it up from the pharmacy next door. The brand is Retrieve and the strength is .05% - I hope you’re able to access it as easily as I did xx
I've been using tretinoin for acne from age 29 (now almost 43), I'll never let it go. No acne and people do not believe I'm 43. The only thing I use at night, I do my daily routine after washing my face once with just water. LOVE IT.
Clelia Mattana oh that is so good to hear!! I just turned 30 so I’m glad it’s still had such a good result even starting it later in life. I wear sunscreen and a hat everywhere now too! May I ask what other skin care products you use? I can’t wait till I feel confident enough to stop wearing makeup but I still have acne red marks which I’m told will go away with a year of using tretinoin xx
@@CoRtNZ1 don't worry, with retin a you have to think about it as a marathon, not 9nly the red marks will go away but if you have any scar it will also fade. I had the worse acne ever for one year. Now that I'm over 40 I only added a serum in the morning (vit c, Q10) and I use Cera Ve when I need it. Ive always drank a lot and put sunscreen even in winter with no sun. But ive lived in tropical countries for years, so I'm very aware on how to still enjoy my beloved sun being protected. You'll havd a great skin in a few years. Bonnet's are amazing for curly hair. It's keeps your pillow from stripping the moisture out of your hair. It also keeps down the friction that breaks your hair.
One thing that you hear constantly from dermatologists is that the temperature of your water should ideally be lukewarm. It's probably safe to say she doesn't have problems washing her hair every day because the water temperature is lukewarm, the amount and application of shampoo are correct, and as she has said in the past, her skin and hair care products are very minimalist. I love Dr. Dray, her channel is worth checking out
It took me forever to realize who you were, but literally I used to watch you all the time when I was younger! You’re the person who got me into skin care!!! I’m so glad I stumbled across your page again. Aahhhhh, feels like I’ve just re met an old friend❤️ love your vids!!

Dr. Dray is not only a dermatologist, but she is also a molecular biologist specializing in skincare ingredients. I think she knows more than anyone you’ll come across here.

Cassandra Bankson ugh being teased as a child; can relate. It’s crazy what can follow you into adulthood. I’ve had to undo a lot of negative beliefs about myself that stem from that time. ❤️
It annoys me when people are like “no you cant aggressively apply moisturiser/cleanser like that, it has to be upward motions or your skin will age and sag” - I’ve seen some youtubers say that, it’s ridiculous
There could be some truth to this. When i gave birth, i develop a certain wrinkles on my forearm. Figured it might be due to the way i carry my newborn. It went away when she got more mobile

OMG, being so used to "hoes mad" reactions on UA-cam, I thought this was going to be super negative after watching and liking Dr. Dray. But this was affirming that she is a good content creator and that somebody in a related field personally relates and finds her content to be very valid
everyone's hair is different, it's not a "myth" that you shouldn't wash your hair every day for each and every person, and there are a lot of factors regarding the type of hair you have that determine how frequently you should wash. as with anything, it's also highly important what products you use. not criticizing, just putting that out there because using the word "myth" here is simply not accurate. stripping your hair is just as much of an issue as stripping your skin :)
I don't know whether it's because I live in the tropics, but every hairstylist here says we should wash our hair everyday. Sebum build-up can cause hair fall.
I agree, the more you wash your hair , the more you have to wash your hair, it becomes oily quicker. I wash it twice a week and I find that works for me. I honestly don’t know anyone who washes it everyday
@@PassionPno That's strange. Cause I live in the Caribbean (also tropical weather) which means lots of humidity. That means most women here (who do not have naturally straight hair) get botox or keratin treatments to fight off the humidity and frizz, or always blow out their hair straight after every wash, which is a lot of work. So stylists here are not telling women to wash their hair everyday.
@@crystalmiller1997Gross?? Really? We're doing childish/teenage insults here? If your hair is straight and slick and requires washing everyday, that's ok. But not everyone's hair is like yours Crystal. There are hair types that don't even start to produce noticable oil until the second or third day after washing, and will in fact be more prone to dryness and breakage from washing and stripping the hair of its necessary oils everyday. As a kid I would wash my hair every single day and what resulted was dry brittle cotton candy big hair. Now as an adult I know that my hair texture does not benefit from everyday washing. I would like for you to keep researching and learning about other hair textures different from your own, and their individual needs, before you call anyone's hair routine GROSS again.
An esthetician changed my skincare life when she let me know that I was using chemical exfoliants too frequently and told me that a very gentle physical exfoliant would benefit me. I always thought I was very savvy about skincare and I was definitely sucked into the hype around chemical exfoliants.
I use 5.46% AHA every other night Sometimes every night. Is that too often?! I feel like I also get sucked into the hype, but in exfoliants in general!
i prefer chemical exfoliants over physical exfoliants since i have dry and sensitive skin. as long as you're not overuse it , it will fine . i use glycolic acid from ordinary toner and it helps a lot for my closed comedon problem . i use it along with my pm routine which is only double cleanse, toner , and moisturize . my skin looks great
Chelsea Tacker It depends. Do you have thick skin? Do u get clogged pores easily? Thick skin can take more exfoliation. Are you trying to get rid of spots. If so you can use the AHA just on the spots or places that get clogged pores, like the nose.
I've used an LED light therapy wand at home for almost a year now. Its absolutely the BEST money I've ever spent. I actually took 'before & after' photos... It really does work....BUT... I was having issues with my skin so I looked up some videos on UA-cam and I found Dr.dray! And oh my am I glad that I did! Love Dr. Dray and totally appreciate Dr. Dray's explanation about the differences between retinoids and retinols. Our RX Drug system in this country is nuts. You can Tretinoin with so much more ease in the EU and Canada and for much less $. Dr. Dray sold me on getting Rx retinoids which so cleared up my acne and acne scarring.
Watching Dray is how I learned what a skin barrier is, and that mine is damaged. I’ve been following her advice, and am taking baby steps to heal it. I have rosacea, so it’s been two weeks and I’m still navigating the territory, but simple things like putting moisturizer on my face while it’s damp has made a difference. I’ve sworn by Cetaphil gentle cleanser since the ‘90’s. Turns out it has SLS which could’ve been drying out my skin this whole time. I had a weird reaction to CeraVe, so now I’m trying Vanicream cleanser. I feel so armed with information since subscribing to Dray. Still a long way to go, but this beautiful lady has helped me so much.

Dr. Dray has a SERIOUS eating disorder. You can see her belly protruding from malnutrition, as well has the sallow color of her skin and sunken cheeks. If you watch her what I eat in a day videos, she eats SO much in vegetables but avoids ANY kind of fats, even healthy fats, like they are the plague. She also avoids carbs and is extremely obsessed about her food. ALL of these are classic eating disorder behaviors, and I really hope she will one day recognize and come to terms with this issue, so she can heal and have a truly healthy life. She seems like such a sweetheart, and I'd hate to see her permanently damage her organs from her intense restrictive diet. She's eating so much Fiber that her body isn't absorbing the necessary nutrients she's trying to get out of these vegetables. It truly breaks my heart.
I also don’t wash my face in the morning, only at night. In the morning I’ll just splash my face with cold water and use moisturizer if I feel like I need it (especially during winter), then sunscreen.
I remember watching you when I was a lot younger and felt better that someone else had similar acne and have loved watching your progress throughout the years
I love Dr Dray! She changed my skin and really woke me up to how I was getting sucked into skincare hype. My routine is minimal now and my skin is better than before. Her recommendation about putting cream on a wet face helped my dry skin so much
This comment had 11 likes and was totally meant to be! I’m so happy that UA-cam Skincare has been informative and helpful for you! Love you so much and happy to have you here! Thank you for sharing your gratitude and being a part of the skin care nerd family!
Honestly, this channel is the reason I picked up products by the Ordinary (including the BHA AHA peel). It's interesting to hear both sides of this, and listening to myths of hair and skin care being busted. I was raised thinking that tight feel of the skin meant I was clean. I was raised thinking that you're supposed to wash the hair, not the scalp (never mind HOW to wash the scalp when you have thick, curly hair). I'm now almost 40, and I'm learning things from you.
Actually, I've had acne my entire life so I've seen a lot of dermatologists (A LOT) and most of them agree on not washing the face! Even with cystic acne, yup, sounds gross but they are right! Once I decided to follow the advice, my skin really improved. Right now my dermatologist has me using micellar water to clean my face and then clear it with just water, followed by a very minimal skincare routine targeted for hyperpigmentation. Dr. Dray is a validation to my dermatologist's EXPERT advice.
As a fellow medical esthatician i was so glad to see and hear the amount of info u put in this video that regular estheticians sometimes forget to include bc they already know it but sometimes the audience needs a lil bit of text book info to understand why certain things happen or why ingredients are being used and what they do etc.. In college i always heard that dermatologists use aggressive routes when treating too bc they are usually last resort and have the strongest available actives via prescr. Bc theyre doctors. Thinking about going back to do the nursing program to be able to do injectables !! Much love great vid!💕

THE QUESTION ROSE WHEN SHE SAID "I always take a shower after working out", so when she said that I was genuily curious about people who don't shower after w/o. You clearly haven't read my comment properly plus you weren't able to understand me being ironical.
I recently watched a professional Nutritionist react and talk about Dr Dray's eating vlogs. The main concern was the lack of oils in her diet; We know that not all oils are bad, and in fact many good fats are needed for our health. Watching her put on that head light device in hopes of growing her hair, I can't help but want to somehow *tell* her: "Dr Dray, PLEASE add good oils to your diet! I could almost guarantee your hair will grow out thick and shiny, if that's what you are going for." ❤
Mira Fawn for what it’s worth, not here to comment on Dr. Drays diet. Nobody knows what people are going through behind the scenes - whether it’s genetic, mental, cancer, other disorders etc. For what it’s worth people like Mic The Vegan don’t eat oil either, and at the end of the day I also see it as a processed food. If she hasn’t brought it up, it’s probably something she doesn’t want addressed. I of course want people to get help if they need it, but something I have learned throughout the years changed me in a funny way. I have not been diagnosed with an eating disorder, or heart condition or metabolic condition that causes my body to process nutrients differently. I have dated women in the past who have struggled with eating disorders. Although I can sympathize with them, I could not empathize with them. What I learned from those relationships is that comments, constructive or positive, can often do more harm than help. Even kind or positive words get twisted in peoples minds and can often lead to worse outcomes. For me, it’s strange and counterintuitive but it’s something I respect. Again, not saying there is an eating disorder here because we have no idea, and honestly it’s none of our business what people‘s medical history is. I just finished Cosmetology school and showering your hair everyday is completely fine. Showering once a week may not be realistic for everyone, especially in her case because she is a doctor. Washing your hair is not bad unless you color your hair (over washing can cause the color to fade faster) or you have dry hair. I recently have been washing hair everyday recently and I've seen no difference in the health of my hair from when I washed it once a week. As long as you are not washing it to the point wear your hair is dry and brittle, your completely fine.
As an electrician my skin is always around harsh environments. Whether it be in the sun all day or digging in pits of mud. People don't realize how hard it can be on your skin being in really any trade. Sometimes you'll even go as far as having millions of microfibers coated on your face as you craw through a ceiling, gotta love insulation lol. Especially insulation from pre-1960s, jk... Dr. Also sweating on my face for 10 hours straight does numbers on my skin. After watching Dr. Dray, I now know how to protect and handle my skin nowadays. It's helped so much. jason, i am a retired journeyman and my hubby is a master! we are electrical contractors and being a woman is also really bad for my skin. for 40 years all the industrial chemicals, asbestos, sheet rock and insulation falling in my hair, face & eyes...etc...you know the drill..think of what it was doing to our lungs...i long ago decided to not wear makeup to work...it's not as if i had to look pretty for THAT JOB...lol! two of my family members died from lung cancer caused by that 60's asbestos poisoning you are talking about. my hubby also has asbestosis and it could turn into cancer at any time. if you are removing that stuff please wear protective clothing & goggles and see the DR. regularly if your breathing changes. there are many lawsuits going on because manufacturers knew how dangerous it was when they produced it. if you are going to do this for many years please take care of yourself. i now go to an esthetician for facials & such, but like with dr. dray with your dangerous profession it's important to have a medical doctor...especially working in harsh environments!!...especially the heat and extreme weather conditions!! good luck to you. being an electrician is a really hard physical job and even though we always made good money, it is unforgiving to your body...and so is skin cancer...take care!
@@donnadayle3762 Thanks for sharing :). I now go into ceilings with a mask on. Used to not do it before, how dumb was I... I'm actually considering getting my Masters and going off on my own. Not sure which route to take, so torn between the two.
You can make Rosemary water and spray it on your scalp everyday and that creates hair growth and thickness that you will see over time. Boil some fresh or store-bought rosemary in water until it creates a t. Let it cool down. Put it into a spray bottle and use that everyday on your scalp and let it dry.

I agree, and thank you for posting this comment. I commented something on this too! I stand by it and your comment..I love dr.dray too, but we CANNOT SUPPORT somebody so clearly living with an eating disorder that is so educated and has such a big platform! She is getting worse and it breaks my heart, and I honestly find it irresponsible to NOT call it out and to ignore it and others concerns. She will never get help if people continue supporting her, and I know it’s hard to decide to stop supporting somebody, but if everybody stopped supporting and told her that it’s because she refuses to get help, then MAYBE, just maybe, she would finally actually get serious help.
Cassandra Bankson I respect your comment, but you need to understand that she is an educated woman that knows what she is doing and has an INCREDIBLY large platform that is refusing to get help. Not addressing it will end with her dying FAR too soon and will also affect so many others that look up to her! I see it as being even more harmful than Eugenia because she is a doctor. This is not the kind of influence girls and young women (or any women and men for that matter) need! I love Dr.dray and I’ve supported her since she has under 200 subs, but I eventually had to stop once ai saw her getting worse again (she was looking better for a period of time, but now she is much worse). The speculations are not coming out of nowhere. She is showing every sign of it, despite me hoping for a long time years ago that it wasn’t true. Dr. Dre started off with good intention, I hope; but she has become completely corrupt. It's all about product pushing whatever sponsor will pay her. Its unfortunate.

@@chanimarie6753 yes she has. She also is unhealthy and have so many people following her. She obviously is using her veganism lifestyle to hide an eating disorder. Because of Dr. Dray I decided to see a dermatologist about a weirdly shaped mole I had on my arm. Turned out to be cancerous , just had it removed. Shes literally out here saving lives and teaching us the importance of sunscreen.
Esteph Alba I agree!!! Love Dr. Dray
Seriously? You didn’t know this without Dray?? Wow, just wow. Local dermatologist office has done free skin cancer screenings for over 2 decades. I’ve worn spf on my face for....?? Thirty odd years?? Seriously, you wouldn’t have known this without watching a UA-cam video?
And promoting anorexia so taking away too
amelia I would say that people aren’t using the wisdom given to them, and instead are solely relying on a influencer, for something like skin cancer.

She's a medical esthetician.
@@HelenFire420 Agreed that she is naturally slim but I do think she is highly strung or suffer from an anxiety disorder. That is just my own opinion
Brandi Sodemann Me too, but she also seems to be gaining weight. She used to be smaller. I just hope she’s healthy.
I listen to Dr. Dray for 95% of her advice, except when it comes to hair. Kinky/curly hair is a very different animal.
And her food advice

PREACH!!!!
There are some dermatologist an dothers who actually have backed up a product, that does not have to be that great, but I guarantee they make tons of money from recommending and the products simply don't work for everyone

I trust Dr Dray fully. Her skin looks great and she looks at least 10 years younger than she is if not more. I have purchased at least 3 product she recommended and they have worked FLAWLESSLY. JAMA is not a dermatology journal. It's the Journal of the American Medical Association, which covers all aspects of medicine.
Thank you for pointing that out. 😁
S 17 i saw that, too. The journal the doctor Is reading in the video is JAAD. But the UA-camr said it was JAMA. 🤦🏻♀️
Thanks, as a librarian I noticed she said that too, but I was too lazy to do anything about it!🤷♀️

She prob just misspoke

Nicole VonW wow
I am in wholehearted agreement with you, Alice. Oil cleanser in the evening, water in the morning. No toner. Happy skin!
I don't wash my face in the morning either because it's dry and it helps keeping my skin barrier in check (I use tretinoin).
Commenting cause I only wash my face once a day too!

Dr Dray deserves her flowers. She's the best dermatologist ive encountered, her advice has really helped me understand and control my hormonal acne that i battled for 8 years.
love and respect dr dray’s skincare knowledge but i am among those who are worried for her health. some of her dietary recs in her “what i eat” style videos are...a bit jarring. i hope she’s alright.
sarah marie I feel like people need to talk about this more
Alyssa J i have *heard* (emphasis on heard) that she strictly moderates her comments, removing any that refer or even allude to her health/weight - but i’ve never paid close enough attention to her comments to witness this happening myself. i do know that the subject almost never comes up in the comment sections i see, which could suggest she moderates them. because, as respectfully as possible, it’s too obvious for none of her subscribers to notice.
@Hailey Blue Do you mean she's vomiting? Or can people who are only anorexic get discolored lips and teeth?

One thing that you hear constantly from dermatologists is that the temperature of your water should ideally be lukewarm. It's probably safe to say she doesn't have problems washing her hair every day because the water temperature is lukewarm, the amount and application of shampoo are correct, and as she has said in the past, her skin and hair care products are very minimalist. everyone's hair is different, it's not a "myth" that you shouldn't wash your hair every day for each and every person, and there are a lot of factors regarding the type of hair you have that determine how frequently you should wash. as with anything, it's also highly important what products you use. not criticizing, just putting that out there because using the word "myth" here is simply not accurate. stripping your hair is just as much of an issue as stripping your skin :)
Oh man that’s so GROSS.. I wash my hair with a gentle shampoo every day.

Brittany Morrissey What were you using & how frequently?
🏺 I second this question
I use 5.46% AHA every other night
Sometimes every night.
Is that too often?!
I feel like I also get sucked into the hype, but in exfoliants in general!
i prefer chemical exfoliants over physical exfoliants since i have dry and sensitive skin.
as long as you're not overuse it , it will fine .
i use glycolic acid from ordinary toner and it helps a lot for my closed comedon problem . i use it along with my pm routine which is only double cleanse, toner , and moisturize . my skin looks great
Chelsea Tacker
It depends. Do you have thick skin? Do u get clogged pores easily? Thick skin can take more exfoliation. Are you trying to get rid of spots. If so you can use the AHA just on the spots or places that get clogged pores, like the nose.

Dr. Dray has a SERIOUS eating disorder. You can see her belly protruding from malnutrition, as well has the sallow color of her skin and sunken cheeks.

Of course I want people to get help if they need it, however there are certain instances where it’s counterproductive to discuss publicly. Dr Dray is an amazing source of skin care knowledge, has such a sweet personality, has lots of energy and vitality, and is someone that I am so grateful to have in my digital life!! Unless she makes it might business, it’s not my place to discuss. I’ve said it in the comments multiple times, that I don’t block people - they can call me names, rude things etc. but I believe in freedom of speech. That being said, anytime a comment attacks someone else, for their race, religion, sexuality, appearance, or other things of that nature, there is no doubt that they are blocked. It’s not OK to judge and disrespect people for their differences. I do believe that your comment from a place of kindness and compassion, but I think it’s important to remember that things can be taken out of context and hurt overall. If she wants to discuss certain things, I’m happy to watch her do so in videos. If not, my comment section is not the place to have those conversations.
@@CassandraBankson thank you for saying what needed to be said. Dr dre get flamed enough about her "diet" she is a true gem to us for dermatology information!
I think the same! Idk what's going on behind the scenes. But don't comment on her videos about her health or nutrition. She deletes and blocks those comments. I think she's going through something and doesn't wish to discuss it online. At least not right now.
@@domie200 it's not that she's being flamed, it's that people with actual eating disorders have said how triggering and dangerous her food videos are. She's sick and shouldn't be promoted at all since her food videos can and will be hurtful to others
Love how you explain all of the acronyms and go into detail so it actually makes sense to ordinary people!!!
I love Dr. Dray ❤️ she has great advice and she is a medical doctor, so I do trust what she says
I trust Cassandras advice because she suffered from severe acne and after years of trying everything she finally got her skin clear.
I love treitnoin! My all-time fav. I used it for acne for a long time and now for anti-aging/general skin care.
By the way, if you have Kaiser, you can get 0.05% tretinoin from your GP. :) In case you cannot see a dermatologist (Eg during the pandemic). I want to know HOW people keep bonnets on!? I cannot keep anything on my head unless I have curlers in... I am SO jelaous of you people that sleep still.
She’s WEARING A HAIR BONNET! I LOVE THAT! Black women do that all the time!! 🥰🥰
Dr. Dray has really saved my face, I owe a lot to her.
WITH THAT SAID. This is the first time watching your channel and I'm just about to start watching this video. It's nice to get a different perspective and I look forward to watching this video! Just wanted to chip in my unbiased thoughts of Dr. Dray before watching. Thanks for sharing :)
jason, i am a retired journeyman and my hubby is a master! we are electrical contractors and being a woman is also really bad for my skin. for 40 years all the industrial chemicals, asbestos, sheet rock and insulation falling in my hair, face & eyes...etc...you know the drill..think of what it was doing to our lungs...i long ago decided to not wear makeup to work...it's not as if i had to look pretty for THAT JOB...lol! two of my family members died from lung cancer caused by that 60's asbestos poisoning you are talking about. my hubby also has asbestosis and it could turn into cancer at any time. if you are removing that stuff please wear protective clothing & goggles and see the DR. regularly if your breathing changes. there are many lawsuits going on because manufacturers knew how dangerous it was when they produced it. if you are going to do this for many years please take care of yourself. i now go to an esthetician for facials & such, but like with dr. dray with your dangerous profession it's important to have a medical doctor...especially working in harsh environments!!...especially the heat and extreme weather conditions!! good luck to you. being an electrician is a really hard physical job and even though we always made good money, it is unforgiving to your body...and so is skin cancer...take care!
@@donnadayle3762 Thanks for sharing :). I now go into ceilings with a mask on. Used to not do it before, how dumb was I... I'm actually considering getting my Masters and going off on my own. Was it worth it after all these years? It's either that or joining my local POCO and becoming a linesmen, because of how good the $ is benefits, just long hours and less freedom.
I really appreciate Dr. Drays knowledge but I just CAN'T watch her vids :/ I have a ED history and it just hits too close to home seeing her.
I can totally understand you. But Dr. Dray just ignores everyone who raises concerns or critique. 🤦
Luisa Klingenstein hey gorgeous, thanks for commenting and being so open about your struggle. This post doesn’t discuss food, and for what it’s worth, I’m not here to comment on Dr. Drays diet. As someone who has been there, I sincerely hope that maybe you and I could have a private conversation, not about other people, but about your experience just so that I could learn, understand more, and be more compassionate. But at the end of the day, from what I understand, comments can be more damaging in the long run. I don’t want my comment section to be that sort of a place. Thank you for understanding
To me she looks very much like a proana influencer disguised as a skincare channel
I have watched her get worse and worse, and I have personally experienced a lot of death in my life from a very young age..I just can’t watch her slowly kill herself too. I miss watching her videos and I believe I am still subscribed, but ai no longer watch her videos. She’s gotten too sick for me to continue watching. 🥺☹️
I adore your personality… You provide really great information/explanations and are highly intelligent. Subscribed 😊🥰
Two of my favourite UA-camrs in one video ! Thankful for you both ❤️
