It's funny how in my "year 2000 brain" the game always looked like this. But now we don't have to make those imaginary visual leaps in our minds anymore.

This is so true of a lot of games back in the day. TBH, that extra work from my imagination added a whole other level to the gameplay experience that is almost impossible these days. Clever game design can call upon your imagination, but it’s not that common tbh.

This is just amazing. To see this, to see this game come back to life in a new era. Fas who played the original including myself can appreciate just how epic this game is going to be
Played the demo... and its cinematic as ever... combat feels snapier too... better than remake..
How about the variable resolution? Is it better than remake?
@@fajaradi1223 its better overall.. cant say much on graphics cause my TV can only handle 1080p 60fps... but overworld is crispier.... than in remake.. draw distances are better....
Camera is zoomed out more too, which makes it feel more like a actual open world game compared to remake

@@fajaradi1223 remakes performance mode was at a fixed 1440p. rebirth uses DRS, and it can go below 1080p in performance mode especially when its in an open area
This is how remakes & remasters should be like. Transforming really old 2d ps1, ps2 games to ps5 level graphics & performance. And substantially reinventing & reimagining the entire game & gameplay.
Sadly most companies these days remaster very recent games that don't even need remaster just to earn some quick bucks. You know which games I'm talking about. They just improve very minor details here & there while keeping the entire gameplay exactly the same & then call it a remaster/remake

Remasters and Remakes are different. What you described are called remasters, Remakes are like FF7 remake and resident evil 1-4 franchise where they completely do a complete remake of a game..

Yeah def thought it was strange they had the materia keeper as the boss. Maybe they’re switching the bosses
They probably changed the dragon out simply because it was too big of a creature to just be casually roaming the outskirts of Nibelheim and causing problems.
@@visuyhmgroupfacts, the dragon isn't even outside Nibleheim so it is quite a fix.
What we need to remember is that FF7 was a mess internally and alot was reworked compared to originally planned. We maybe getting things the way they originally wanted to tell them but couldn’t.
The bit with the Grand Dragon should've remained gameplay, it worked well because it tells story through gameplay. Cloud has barely any HP and Sephiroth has a ton. He can use Ice and Fire 3 and you get one shot, where as he can kill said dragon on one blow. It really helped use gameplay to convey just how strong Sephiroth really is.
It's one of those iconic scenes that the developers had no reason to downgrade. This does not bode well for the rest of the game.

Yes but you have ice3 and fire3 in remake too. It wouldnt make him look much more op compare to how you are leaving midgar.
Imo, it might be even better to save the green dragon for a tough boss with several partymembers only for cloud to say he once saw sephiroth cut one open in just two slices.
@@juliansanchezharris5773 That's just lazy. Using gameplay to tell story is far better than just having Cloud say 'well he killed some people'. Yeah, he killed the Midgar Zolom, but this was a point first hand where we actually see from a gameplay perspective how strong he is.

And the whole dialogue about the cetra traitors who became modern humans which caused sephiroths rampage in the first place. Sephiroth believes he was created as the chosen cetra based on the falsehood that Jenova was a cetra.

Probably because age rating and how strict it is now compared to back then. There wasn't even a single drop of blood in this scene
The ESRB guidelines got more strict and clearly defined over the decades. Back when this game was made the ESRB was only a few years old and it's rules were blurrier and more open to interpretation. If they don't want a M rating and to get the usual T rating they have to chill with the blood and dismembering.

Until part 2 remake, it changed to some cuts and scraps content where staff was struggle how to make the game look sense.

@@MrRobeStern64 I'm glad they change the storyline. Otherwise there would be no reason to buy a game that's divided in 3 or 4 parts and doesn't even have ending yet. At least the original FF7 had the whole story in one package.

It resembles the last semblance of Sephiroth who sees Cloud/Zack as a friend and how he's completely losing himself.
The cutscene in Crisis Core uses the old CGI model of Sephiroth
corny. his rage has always been his underlying drive down this path. The OG cutscene had much more impact. And they kept doing this in part 1, too. Literally every scene of Sephiroth is him smirking and giving Cloud the eyes. It's like someone is making fanfic over there in Square reality. @@PetarBladeStrok

Very nice demo except for the second half. Just give me a damn cutscene before making me press forward and watch Cloud walk with 0.1m/s. Or Sephiroth and the townspeople have a standoff amd doing NOTHING. Like he is killing them and they dont even use their guns.

It's neat how the shinra trooper that cloud(zack) talks to at the beginning of this scene is actually the real cloud and you can see from his face and a bit of his hair peeking out.

As somebody said cloud was there but in his memory he projects himself as Zack. Because of trauma. Crisis cores ending butchered Zacks death in some ways. Most notably cloud never got to say goodbye to Zack and was powerless to help. This put him down a spiral where he merged himself with Zack suffering from severe survivers guilt erasing him from his memory. This was a huge reveal in the original as you didn't even know who Zack was if you didn't play the side content but now everybody knows who Zack is and will be confused until square spells it out for people

This is a memory. It's a fabricated origin story that cloud did to feel cool. He was never a solider, he was the security guard that said "You bet" at the beginning. Zack was the "Cloud". But to feel cool he displayed Zack as himself in that memory

This is the original scene where false memories is fking up Cloud. Crisis core is the prequel which was the correct memory.
Playing Crisis Core is a big spoiler for a twist in FF7, Cloud has Zack's memories and thinks they're his own.
It's Cloud's false memories, so it's not very accurate like Crisis Core Reunion.
So we all agree this is zack, but how the hell did cloud get zacks memories because we were shown zack didn't die

You are playing as Zack the entire time. Look at all of clouds mannerisms, the way he moves, talks, Sephiroth's response to him.
Because this was Zack. And that Infantryman that feels sick? That's supposed to be Cloud. His memories about these event was hazy because of reasons..
The interesting is that the infantryman who’s supposed to be cloud actually has his facial features too

It's nice they had this just like the original and didn't change it.
There are minor difference which change the effect for me. The fight against the monsters not being gameplay is something that is a bit annoying. Also changing the fire scene to a qte didn't need to be done. It destroys the moment as your are will inevitably be drawn to the prompts the second they show up. Overall it is a fine imagining of the scene but was degraded in minor ways. Especially by the fact that Steph got so much screentime in the first act this time around
the lighting in the demo is bothering me along with camera issues still.
especially if you entered a building, the dark then sudden light is annoying. also the shadow in their faces feels weird. unreal engine issues.

Can anyone explain to me why, according to Cloud's version, he was instead of Zack? Because in the Reunion, Zack was with Sephiroth in Nibelheim and Cloud was an infantryman
Because cloud has an inferiority complex and after his mako poisoning his mind essentially creates a new identity for himself where he isn’t the failure he perceives himself as. The irony is that cloud, the infantryman is the one who killed sephiroth and not a member of Soldier meaning the person he felt embarrassed to be was actually the hero.
Because Jenova created false memories in Cloud so that he could be strong enough to be at the level of SOLDIER. The Jenova cells in him read Tifa’s mind and created a fake persona.
The Original still feels better in my opinion.

It’s cloud’s recollection. Except he is mixed up with memories of Zack. So yeah it is Zack who does most of that and cloud is the grunt soldier who gets motion sick. When cloud goes to his mom’s he acts like normal cloud (because that’s his memory) and in the demo there’s some effects going on as he is having trouble reconciling his memory. It’s all so well done.

For the new kids who don’t know anything Sephiroth REAL MOM IS NAMED Lucretia she had a child with Hojo and Hojo and Lucretia both experimented on Sephiroth. Lucretia is sleeping in a crystal in the original FF7 she’s in a cave behind a waterfall and you need Vincent because Vincent had a crush on Sephiroths mom.
Sephiroth was experimented on in the womb. The jenova cells were injected before he was born, not after which is why he’s so strong.
