- Check out this Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay and FF7 gameplay comparison! In FF7 Rebirth, the Migard Zolom, the giant snake now called Migardsormr makes his return. Unlike the original FF7, this fight is no longer skippable if you’re riding a Chocobo. What is the same though is the beast’s conclusion, with Rebirth telling the story of how Sephiroth managed to impale a 30-foot serpent on an even larger tree just like in the original. Midgardsormr (Miðgarðsormr) is the correct translation. "Midgar Zolom" was presumably the translator's misunderstanding of the Norse origin of the word, as well as seeing "Midgar" in the name.
It makes sense when you transliterate it into Japanese. Midgardsormr is Mi-do-ga-do zo-ro-ma. If the translators didn't know about Norse mythology (which is a fair possibility since mythology in general wasn't mainstream) then it's easy to just translate zo-ro-ma literally. Midgard likewise gets shortened to Midgar since it's the name of the city. Thus, the Midgar Zolom.

They better not butcher any aspect of the game. Scenery, script, OST, character design, gameplay.
Because FF7 is seen as the "holy grail" of JRPGs, and if they slack even in one department, people will tear them to shreds!

Are you asking a question? Because yes it was. It's like the best aoe fire spell for a long portion of the game if you can work up the effort in your little peener to go get it on your enemy skill materia. Most weaklings who play the game don't even fill out their enemy skill materias. A lot of those spells are way more efficient than summons.

At least we can take Zolom in the fact beating and getting its enemy skill will no longer require waiting until later in the game.
Wanna know a secret? It never did. You can inflict sadness and use back row to not die and learn beta very early on

@@SephirosBnot true in the slightest. Sephiroth had no clue who cloud was in the OG until he’s the 1 clone that was able to make it through the temple and to the black materia. The sephiroth/cloud rivalry is one sided and in cloud mind. In the OG we see all the dead clones outside the temple that weren’t able to make it showing that sephiroth was intending for any of them to succeed.

The sephiroth scene kind of reminds me of the Aerith death scene. Where sephiroth is like cloud and cloud is like Aerith

Basically. It was always named midgardsormr. The translator didn't pick up that it's named directly after the world serpent from Norse mythology.
Like how Cloud's sword Organics was meant to be something like Ogrenyx.

The music specially in the last phase reminds me of OG final fantasy. Like when you fight the last boss in final fantasy IV.

Hey wild theory it isn't "Sephiroth" that saved Cloud. it's cloud using his power since he's a "clone".
My reason for believing this is the screen jitter and static from whenever Cloud has his memory lapses. Could also show that this was Sephiroth controlling Clouds body Jenova style.
You missed a difference. Game shows how Sephiroth killed it but with less impact and no blood.
Less impact? In the og we didn't even see how Sephirot defeated the Midgardsorm.

Yea, they are more like background decoration the others. But better solved than in the OG where the others are just disappear in battle and on map
@@Coldsilfur4 They're more than decoration, they do have involvement in the battle, but more like peashooters (at best) with limited skills to activate.
@@Coldsilfur4The supporting characters outside of battle can activate a last resort synergy ability with one of the 3 if their hp is on red. So they do have a purpose.

The remake assumes that everyone has the context of the original or is familiar with it enough to know.

This particular song is first played when Cloud talks about the past when they are all resting at an inn at Kalm town

Square really is the master. The visuals are intense as well as the gameplay. They're untouchable.

Play the demo,visually speaking its a blurry mess on performance and a Studdard mess on graphics.the npcs look amazing but the main cast took a hit

@@michaelrobosa146 Maximilian dood revealed that the characters outside of the main party of 3 use a synergy ability with someone who's almost dead in the party, though you can only use it once per battle.

this is what ive been waiting for.
This is so dumb. Seeing the snake impaled on the tree in the original made sephiroth seem super cool and mysterious. It created tension because you didn't know much about him. You just saw the aftermath of what he was capable of - he casually wrecked this enemy that would destroy your party if you tried to fight it. This on the other hand...not so much.
Glad I'm not the only one who watched this and wondered why it needed to exist? Was way more interesting not seeing every detail, just knowing Sephiroth was leagues above us in terms of power. These remakes really are cash grabs huh
In the original we didn't see sephiroth till nebilhim, and in remake we see him none stop and fight him kind makes the final battle anticlimactic

no, the moment before we gone to the cave. the party reach a scene with the snake is already impale by the tree. they quickly assume it was sephiroth, and gone to the cave
Not in the original however the answer is a spoiler.
These games aren't actually remakes.
In the original you're meant to run from the Midardsormr boss fight because it is too strong and will easily kill your whole party (as well as swallowing them whole). Then once you progress you see that Sephiroth has easily killed it and left it out on display. It's quite the change yet again.
