  • We had a hundred different burning questions that we desperately wanted answers to heading into Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and while many of them were of course answered, they’ve been replaced by several new ones. The game raises tantalizing questions from beginning to end, and similar to its predecessor, in its final chapters, it bombards you with major new revelations and twists that takes further still, something that is compounded by the fact that this remake trilogy is clearly not content with just sticking to the original’s script.
With the developer wanting to tell new things, in the aftermath of Rebirth, we’re left with several huge questions about how the trilogy’s final chapter is going to bring all of the pieces set by its predecessor together.

I'm also curious if/when Cloud will "follow the yellow flowers" Aerith mentioned this in remake during the Shinra escape but didn't know exactly what it meant because of the Whispers taking her memories. In the void we see Zack following Yellow flower petals in order to arrive to help Cloud in his multiversal battle with Sephiroth. Yellow flowers (those symbolizing lovers being reunited) are a constant theme in the game, so I'm curious if the implication by Cloud hearing these words in Remake, means that eventually he too will need to traverse the multiverse and the yellow flowers will be his 'guide' like they were for Zack.

I can definitely see that in the ending part of the game. It would be a cool concept if sephiroth is literally trying to unite the worlds in a single point and Aerith is trying to unite worlds against a single villain, sending cloud to hit him with a Zack/Cloud multiversal Omnislash.

I don't think Cloud is seeing a spirit form of Aerith. I think he created a new timeline when he deflected Sephiroth's sword, and so he's actually split off into a different timeline where she's still alive. That would explain why he barely seems sad after she dies, and also explain why only he can see her and see the tear in the sky.
So we're seeing basically two timelines being superimposed on top of each others, a split that will probably end up re-converging at the point where cloud has his famous identity crisis in part 3. Feels like something they could nicely fit into that.

Cloud DID save Aerith though. Sephiroth explained in detail that a new timeline is created anytime someone defies fate. I hope they can bring her back or merge the two timelines or something

My biggest “Didn’t Answer” was the point of Zack and Biggs’s timeline hops. Both of them express that they know their fates are now not the same, and both (rightfully so) question their “purpose”. Zack seems right about being “plucked” from the timeline where he died, and also being needed, which would imply the same is true for Biggs. Biggs’s fate in Rebirth currently feels completely unfinished and “plucking” him from a timeline in which he died, just for us to see him die again in a completely NEW one is an absolute waste that doesn’t hold to the theme they were implying that even “minor roles” are important.
Rebirth also never addresses Jessie’s glove that we see with Biggs at the end of Remake, and it would be sloppy writing to add all these red herrings in a game about destiny/fate.

Although they kinda "ruined" the aerith stab scene, imo they didnt, they just took a different approach bc she's "dying" but not really gone. @@kylemartin8991 I was confused until after you beat the last boss and then you see Tifa and Yuffie crying with Barret and the others distraught over her death. It was very emotional when Cloud says goodbye to Aerith before he boards the Tiny Bronco
In hindsight the problem with this is that Aerith's death is heroric, in the same way Galuf's death is heroric.
The reason the original Final Fantasy 7 is remembered is because Aerith's death is not heroric. She is cut down mercilessly in the prime of her life and her friends don't get a chance to say goodbye.
I don't know if they made the right call here, because Aerith's death in the original forces the player to confront the totallity of death and the pain of not saying goodbye to someone you love.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gives you some reprieve from the loss of sudden death by giving Cloud a chance to say goodbye.

    1. At Shinra HQ

    3. Sitting outside the church. Can't decide which one whose to choose before Sephiroth walks by and send him to the void.

As per checking there's only 1-2 year gap between zack's death and the start of ff7 (tifa's recollection of 5 years if I remember is the nibleheim incident).
Zack's timeline was not fully explored, but it could be that after zack survived and carried cloud, he did not go straight to midgar. He probably just tended cloud for 1-2 years in hiding and happened to enter midgar after the avalanche's mission.
As for aerith, we know cloud fell straight to the church. Without cloud around, avalanche could have made things differently, maybe the entire party even fell to the church and aerith tended to them, fight turks and escape the church with aerith. Aerith becomes a valuable party member and would want to rescue her when turks got her.
They will ultimately fail the last part because cloud isn't around to drive the motorcycle.
These are just speculations but it is still a possible turn of events in zack's timeline.

I don’t think Aerith in the end is a spirit at all. And it’s CERTAINLY not a hallucination, red senses her presence and the camera sticks on her AFTER cloud has left when he shouldn’t be able to hallucinate her. He’s saying a real living Aerith, just not the one exactly from his timeline. Cloud is experiencing two timelines at once. We see the rainbow flare when cloud saves Aerith, which is shown throughout the game to mean a new timeline is created. The camera than rapidly flips between cloud holding an alive aerith and a dead aerith, which is very disorienting. That’s not just to mess with us or for goofs, that’s what cloud is experiencing. TWO TIMELINES at once. Because the aerith lives timeline is created at the same time as sephiroth is trying to make timelines merge (as we see with Zack) it has the weird effect of half merging the timelines to where only cloud can see both. Its the same reason only cloud sees the rift. Because he sees both Aerith’s alive timeline; where there is a rift, and the normal one. To his friends who are only in their timeline, they don’t see the rift because it doesn’t exist for them.

Seems like they begin dark and cold, lacking forgiveness and are full of regret, as those who don’t accept their death and thus, do not assimilate to the lifestream, falling into some sort of purgatory limbo existence. As explained in the video Sephiroth is aware of the timelines, whispers are a big part of the story, Marlene has memories of the original timeline and many more other information that lead to understand how this game probably will NOT be just a better graphic version of the Original Final Fantasy 7 but a whole new direction and story.
Aerith coming back also is a huge probability as implied in the video and i would love that a lot, and Zack's involvement cannot be overlooked as he came into direct contact with Cloud, talked to him and even asked him to "save her".

As a result, Sephiroth has no choice but to exist only in Cloud's past memories. His consciousness from post-AC is now manipulating Cloud from the past to hand him the black materia. Perhaps not to summon meteor this time, instead he uses the black materia to recreate himself straight out of Cloud's OG memories into a real physical godly self once again. This would bring much depth to Cloud's victory line "Stay where you belong, in my memories." and Sephiroth's rebuttle line "I will never be a memory.".

This is what I'm asking too.
It seems that Advent Children will be changed too
The reason is simple. They want to make Tifa as the canon main girl and so they tone down Aerith's death in this game.
In the original Cloud is so much attached to Aerith which makes the game so painful when she died. In Rebirth it shows less impact on Aerith's death.
With that the Emo phase of Cloud on AC will be not make sense anymore because Tifa was already there to support him.
The reason why I love the OG is because the theme is about losing someone you cherish and moving on with life by cherishing those people around you.
Aerith represents happiness that turned to sorrow while Tifa represents hope and acceptance.

Not sure why, but I never found any grey area, which then leads me to question anything. I mean the answers basically lie in the original game, and that's it. Any change made would only bring chaos to the story itself, which I hate it. Fortunately, so far, based on the remake and rebirth, they still follow the essentials. I love the way they added small differences, like how cloud met yuffie, but do not really affect the essentials of the story.

I agree. But ive got to be honest, this multiple timelines started fine with me with remake. But in rebirth the finale felt so scattered. They say it ruined aerith's death. I agree. In a sense i feel like her death scene was butchered. Instead of a long melancholic scene we are forced to watch a lot of scenes.
But i also sense that this is intentional by nomura's creative direction. I feel that he intended players to feel like cloud. As i watched the ending it feels that cloud seems fine seeing aerith around, and that he's a bit apathetic to the mourning of the rest of the party. Surprisingly that's also how i felt. Because of the graphical spectacle i totally forgot about aerith. And the game kept showing aerith around so when i saw tifa crying i didn't feel much. Maybe nomura really intended to do that.
Im a bit skeptical for part 3. The remaining mysteries don't intrigue me that much, esp. that viceroy thing. And the hooded guy looks straight from org13. Im not a fan of it.
Im still looking forward to part 3 but not as excited as before rebirth.

Two different timelines are happening, one is the original and I believe the other timeline is somehow being manipulated to where it wants Aerith to live so Sephiroth can destroy the planet without the lifestream. Sephiroth quoted “I underestimated you” towards the end after Aerith passing and her siding with cloud to fight him off. Plus, I think Zack will reunite with Aerith again eventually but both having to pass away together in a different scenario not like the original. Imo.

I haven't heard anyone else talk about this, but did anyone get the vibe that Zack was in the main timeline the whole time? That the timelines had already somewhat merged but only in Midgar? I feel like there were a few things that indicated this.
    1. The timing of Zack returning to Midgar was wrong. The reactor bombings and the fall of the plate had already happened. If Zack had simply survived and continued to Midgar, he should have arrived before the bombing of reactor 1.
    2. Aerith was with the party. If cloud wasn't in Midgar, how would Aerith have met Barret & Tifa. The shinra trooper saying "the fugitive is an ex-soldier with a buster sword" was an interesting choice of words, as it could refer to Cloud or Zack. Maybe he was actually referring to our Cloud?
    3. The news report about the tornado in midgar is word for word identical when you hear it on the radio in Kalm.
    4. Ifalna and Marlene know Cloud? The Marlene that Zack talks to seems to be the exact some one from our main timeline.
My impression on my first playthrough was that Midgar was the epicentre of the world's merging and that the characters can't be conscious twice in the same world (or something🤷‍♂️). On my 2nd playthrough, I'm not ruling this out, but there's a couple inconsistencies. 1 is that Red actually does wake up for a moment in the opening scene in Midgar, and 2 is that when Zack drops Cloud with Kyrie and says "can you look after my friend?" She doesn't give any indication that she knows Cloud, but it could be that Zack just runs off before she has a chance to say anything.

Remake still ended like in og. It's just that we were shown things not shown in og like zack being alive in another timeline.
Same goes with rebirth. Aerith still dies, it's just that cloud seems to see aerith alive. He saw aerith's ghost in church in og. Aerith was talking behind cloud in ac. We thought cloud just couldn't accept her death, but now we know that he's literally seeing her loitering around.
People are saying the events are not lining up with advent children. But as i am seeing it it's getting more aligned now. Seeing aerith alive while others knew shes dead will bring more emotional and psychological burden to cloud, beyond just being delusional that he's zack. Now we're getting a proper reason why he's so emo in ac.

Which means it gives him the knowledge to see future timelines, now that does not mean he have access to all of them as the characters are able to change their own fates even against the whispers, do they are not all knowledgeable. In a recent update, they changed the final line of FF7 Remake from "'I miss it, the steel sky", to "The sky, I don't like it." ~ That definitely heavily implies that Aerith could already see the rift in the sky at the end of Remake. Given that Cloud can now see it after traveling through timelines, coupled with her knowledge of future events throughout Remake really suggests that she IS the original Aerith from the original 1997 game to me (she travelled between timelines to get here, which is why she can see the rift).
This also makes a lot of her lines about the future being written but still being able to change make a bit more sense - She can't remember any more, but she can see that their world is doomed (from the rift in the sky) and still wants to fight to save it.
I think they have gone the multiverse route with this story so that they can add new stuff without destroying the old story and continuity of the original FF7 and Advent Children. With this story as it stands, it seems like all of the original games (I guess you could call it the no Stamp timeline) all still happened. I'm really hoping they tie in an event from the original FF7 compilation timeline (presumably after the end of Dirge of Cerberus) which created the 'main' timeline we have been playing this whole time.

Theory here but the game that we're playing is the main branch of the timeline, like if you watched Loki and how there's a main line and everything else is the branch offs. When Sephiroth mentioned world colliding, I think it's a mention that the separate branches of the main time line is merging. We can kinda tell from the last battle and a lot of cut scenes referencing that and how Cloud can see the open rift in the sky. This is also similar to No Way Home as well when Spider-Man opens up a rift to the Multiverse and can see multiple villains from different time lines like how he met the other Spider-Mans. Regardless, characters that MUST die for the main timeline to continue on like Aerith for example.

I think you're missing out on the bigger picture, also zack wasn't gun down, in the stamps is a pug universe he jumps over the edge refusing the fate. And it the stamp is a corgi universe when we see Johnny walk by. Thats the Zack what breaks through at the courterpoint after sephiroth pushing him through.
From what we've seen both aerith and sephiroth have an omnipresent that not only see in to the Multiverse but can travel between them and can portal people through them. Having an omnipresent means that there is essentially one sephiroth and one aerith fraction over space and time.
In one of these universe, Cloud saves Aerith. If sephiroth has this omnipresent across tbe multiverse thanks to Jenova. Cloud having some of sephiroth cells could mean he's seeing things unfold in different universe at the same time. That its not mako poisoning. But just extremely hard to confusing for him, allowing Jenova to manipulate him. This is why he thinks Tifa has No scar. That hes confusing her with another version he's seen. This is why he sees aerith alive at the end. Its just not this universe aerith.
As for the og game that all happened, it ran parallel to what we are playing now. What happened in the og is only a small part of a much bigger story

The Biggs being shot was a different timeline branch created when Zack had to choose between the cure for Cloud or finding Biggs. Zack, the way I'm seeing it right now is kinda like Loki in season 2. I'm also getting the feeling he's breaking the 4th wall. Zack is being sent on a Journey to find Aerith and Cloud. Aerith being saved when Cloud blocked Sephiroth created a new branch which is where I think Zack is going. Aerith hints to finding the real Cloud like in the original so I think shes speaking to herself in multiple timelines. The real question is, if Aerith is searching for Cloud and dealing with Sephiroth from creating an apocolypse/incursion/secret wars like event, who is moving Zack? Gilgamesh talks about this worlds Legendary sword user and hinting it maybe Cloud but I think its Zack. Only thing throwing me off is the Whispers. Black represents Sephiorth and white represents Aerith? Or could it be Angeal representing white. I think the Finale in part 3 will give us a little bit of hope where worlds collide and dimensions start to merge just for a little while but as fate will have it somethings just have to be the way it is.

    1. No, he's not from the future. If you know about the OG game, then you know Sephiroth is embedded in the lifestream. The game establishes through Tifa and Aerith that the lifestream is connected to all worlds, so as soon as the gang open up the multi-verse at the end of Remake, Sephiroth becomes aware of it. You have to remember that through being in the lifestream and injecting Jenova's cells into it, he is basically a God. This lifestream connection is how Aerith knows the same things come the end of the game, after her commune in the Temple of the Ancients.
    2. Which Zach? We are shown several timelines and several Zach's that survived.
    5. See point 1 above. Once the Harbinger was destroyed they were tossed to the lifestream. This is covered in Chapter 10.
    6. The planet controls the white ones, again shown in Chapter 10. They also only come under Aerith's control at the end of the game when many things change; again see point 1.

Sephiroth is dead, he died 5 years ago. Cloud killed him in Nibelheim after Zack failed to kill him, cloud was impaled and he used Sephiroth's sword to fling him into the lifestream. Cloud & Zack are then captured by Hojo who infects them with Jenova. Jenova is a parasite, that is what causes Clouds Hallucinations when he see's Sephiroth, all the men in black robes are infected with Jenova, Sephiroth had Jenova cells injected into his embroyo prior to his birth, so did Angeal and Genesis. Jenova is what drove Sephiroth crazy when he burned Nibelheim to the ground. Because Jenova makes Soldiers stronger, Hojo intentially infects himself with Jenova (per Dirge of Cerberus game) so Hojo is being mentally controlled by Jenova as well. Cloud finds Sephiroth's corpse (his upper half anyway) in the lifestream in the Northern Crater in the 1997 Original Game. Sephiroth is DEAD, he's been dead this whole time.

I've come to the conclusion that Sephiroth isn't really Sephiroth at all but Jenova or at least a form of Jenova that has completely fused with a human and taken control of them which we call Sephiroth. If we stop considering Sephiroth as just some crazy person who wants to be God things become more clear. I think Sephiroth/Jenova has the same problem as the Gi, because he's some type of Human/Alien hybrid he can be killed and sent to the lifestream but because of the Jenova side can't be broken down and reborn like everyone else. So when he was killed originally he remains in some kind of spirit limbo hence why he needs Cloud to do the work for him. He can manipulate and even possess those with Jenova cells but actually destroying him seems impossible. As you said he's already dead. The only true way I see of getting rid of Sephiroth I think is to eject him from the life stream and the planet altogether. Hahaha Perhaps Rocket Town might have some real significance in the next one. Who knows its just a theory.

I believe that Cloud is interacting with the Aerith that was asleep when Zack visited Elmyra & Marlene in another timeline. HOW precisely I'm uncertain, but it's pretty on the nose in Zack & Marlenes conversation at Elmyra's house. Zack is told by Marlene that "If SHE (sleeping Aerith) wakes up SHE is going to die (our Aerith). Notably, Marlene also tells Zack that he HAS to help Cloud get better or else he can't save Aerith. HOW exactly Marlene is so aware of the going ons I'm unsure, but I would almost expect timeline hopping Zack to turn up at a crucial moment to help OUR Cloud 'get better'. Could we get unplayable Cloud left in Mideel & Zack joins the gang to fill in for our sword muscle? Could 'Marlene' be Jenova/Sephiroth trying to manipulate Aeriths survival to ensure Meteors success? Or as some have theorized, could the Aerith only cloud see simply just BE Jenova? Jenova is known to take the forms or friends & loved ones to lower the guard of its victims. Could this truly just be sleeping Aerith whisked into another timeline, but ONLY Cloud who was dragged through the multiverse & visibly SAW the timelines gained the ability to see overlapping realities as stated in the video? I know some don't like the confusing nature of the ending, but I personally think it wouldve been a tad too predictable & wouldn't have caught our attention if they stuck strictly to the ps1 game without acknowledging the compilation of ff7 which INCLUDES Advent Children. I'm leaning towards agreeing we will see some iteration of Advent Children in pt. 3. It was confirmed in the Ultimania that there is some connection between the fighting style of the 3 whispers we fought at the end of remake & Sephiroths remnants. I personally love that they've given us fresh life into a 27 year old game. Haven't heard anyone local to me or online mention the sleeping Aerith yet so just thought I'd get it out there. Theory 2: The Gi will be ferried by the team to another realm/afterlife in order to pass on. Can't forget that we saw the Essentric Sword Master pass through a portal. And he did say that he would return.

As a i have understood the events, only zack remained separated because sephiroth slashed him off during the merging (maybe that's how sephiroth breaks fate and created another world for zack). The comatosed aerith and cloud were gone or merged with main timeline.
Only cloud can see alive aerith and rift because he was the only one who entered the destiny barrier at the last chapter. When cloud entered that barrier another world was created: the world where he saved aerith. So when the timelines merged only cloud can see alive aerith, plus the sky rift. Remember that created worlds will eventually end. So that world where aerith lived will also end soon and cloud still stop seeing the sky rift. I think this will burden cloud until advent children (why he was emo in ac)
The black whispers in remake control fate. The black whispers in rebirth are sephiroth's will. The white whispers are the lifestream's will. Based on what the gi tribe said, the world is preventing anyone who's not from earth to return to the planet when they die. The planet could have not consider sephiroth part of the planet as he was born from jenova. So when he was thrown into the lifestream, the lifestream has been rejecting him for years. The white whispers are acting like white blood cells, fighting sephiroth like a virus. But since sephiroth is stubborn, even sending his own whispers to influence events, he is considered as threat by the white whispers/lifestream so they started creating weapons.
Zack and aerith will end up as they were in advent children. Rebirth explains why cloud seems to see aerith in ac. We all thought cloyd just couldn't move on, but rebirth now explains that this is a time merging syndrome. When aerith and zack bid farewell to him in the end of ac, it looks like that world that was created has finally end. Cloud may have finally accepted that aerith is really dead in the main timeline.
Is sephiroth from the future? Im not sure. But i think not. I just think sephiroth had access powers similar to aerith's when he was thrown to the lifestream. When aerith touched red and marlene they also saw a glimpse of the future. Cloud (soaked in mako) also had visions of the future. So i think the ability to see the future is more of an ability. I still think ff7remake trilogy is just an expansion of the story of ff7og, and not a sequel about sephiroth going back to the past to alter events.
As per the gi tribe. I think nomura expanded on their lore to explain that the world does not allow non-earth beings from returning to the planet, in order to justify why sephiroth is still longering whole in the lifestream as tifa saw him around his own whispers.

    1. Duh. Yes. The Sephiroth from Advent Children (after his defeat) went back in time or dimension hopped and is trying to change the outcome of what happened. Have we SEEN Sephiroth in Remake or Rebirth? No. As with the original game (OG), his body is still crystallized in the Northern Crater. We are seeing echoes of him via Jenova in the Robed Men/Hooded Men. We are also seeing Cloud internally fighting Sephiroth (in his head) struggling to maintain control of himself.
    2. Yes, Zack will definitely survive and he will come in clutch at the very end of the game. Whether he dies there is uncertain but I think he and Aerith will make a triumphant return and will turn the tide of the final battle. Otherwise, bringing him back to life is completely pointless narratively.
    3. Sephiroth will absorb every and all timelines except for 1 and that will be the one where he rules. This will make him even more powerful than Safer Sephiroth. He'll become something we've never seen before and it'll take the whole team, including, Aerith, the Cetra and Zack to stop him. Unless they go for a redemption thing with Sephiroth where he finally snaps out of it and takes Jenova down. Who knows for sure. But one thing is clear all the other timelines will be absorbed.
    4. OG Aerith is still alive. Whether she'll get her body back in the end is another question. All other versions of Aerith are dead. The one that lives is from the OG timeline. She will be pivotal in stopping Sephiroth's plan of becoming a multi-dimensional god or at the very least will help reverse it.
    5. The Echoes of Sephiroth gained control of the Whispers the moment the fake Black Materia was taken by Cloud (because Cloud is connected to Jenova and Jenova Prime is still inside of Sephiroth at the Northern Crater). That, in combination with the team destroying fate, likely weakened the Whispers, allowing him to take control of them even from there. Also, he's growing more powerful because of his ability to jump dimensions. He's likely taking Whispers from every timeline he can.
    6. OG Aerith controls the white whispers. The Echoes/Will of Sephiroth controls the dark whispers. The planet controls the gray whispers.
    7. Cloud can't see Aerith. He THINKS he can but it's all in his head because he's losing his mind and it's escalating. He thinks he saved her or at the very least believes he didn't just stand there and let her die. Hell, for all we know, he's the one that actually killed Aerith this time around under the influence of Jenova. However, it's also likely possible that Aerith from the OG timeline is keeping him "together" as best she can and this might be part of it. But it's clear his mind is splitting or now linked across dimensions.
    8. No idea about Gatha.
    9. Ditto.
    10. Ruby and Emerald will still likely be optional super bosses on Hard Mode. Sapphire dies by Shrina. Diamond is delayed by the team and killed by Shrina in the OG so the same scenario will likely play out. We will definitely fight Ultima Weapon.
    Hope that helped!

I think Cloud did save Aerith in rebirth's timeline, or a different timeline. Everyone else is sad and mourning in timelines where she did die. And in the final cutscene I think it shows that cloud is somehow experiencing every timeline in one, thus why he can see the apocalyptic sky while nobody else can. Who knows, just how I interpreted it all.

I thought it was obvious they sepiroth was from the og time line and that when aeriths dies cloud creates a split in the timeline where in one he saves her and the main time line where she dies and the aerith we see at the end talking to cloud is the one that’s alive as the time lines are connected by the rift in the sky and by traveling in different time lines they can see and feel each other

  • @codybethel4142

The way I understood cloud seeing Areith still is cause he’s simultaneously living in 2 timelines. And that they’re playing out the same with the only difference is that Areith is still alive in one. Kinda similar to how Areith might have been at the end of remake, cause of the scene where she feels Zack’s presence, and her comments about the sky in integrade. Which for the English version was patched somewhat recently to “I don’t like this sky” or something like that. Which means she was probably seeing the rift that Cloud is seeing at the end. Areith seems in tune with her other self’s and can see events from other timelines. So to me it seems Cloud is sort of doing that unknowingly between the two timelines of where she lived and didn’t cause those outcomes were based solely on his actions.

So when the game starts in the Terrier-timline, Zach is hauling around mako-poisoned Cloud and sees on Midgar TV that Shinra is searching for one last person with a buster sword as they load the remaining injured party members into helicopters. This has always bothered me. The timing is all messed up... Zach and Cloud's trek to Midgar clearly happens before the events of FF7, but when Zach watches the TV broadcast, it implies that the current moment in time is after the main parties raid on Shinra HQ. All this makes me believe that pre FF7 Zach and Cloud were brought into the Terrier timeline. It's not their original. Which would mean that Terrier-timelines' original Cloud is still running around.

Basically, the PS1 1997 game is timeline 1, the origin which every other timeline splits off from.
My guess is when Sephiroth said he’ll never be a memory, this is what he meant, he’ll travel the lifestream across dimensions to try again and forever torment Cloud.
      Remake is timeline 2
      Interlude chapter is timeline 3
And in my opinion, The original Zack and Cloud timeline from the end of Remake is timeline 4
Timeline 1 is left well alone in this trilogy except for some mind flashes to it
Timeline 2 is what we’ve been playing in Remake and Rebirth.
Biggs from Timeline 2 and Zack and Cloud from Timeline 4 are sucked into Timeline 3
Timeline 3 takes place the same as Timeline 2 but a huge hurricane come and takes them all out when they are on the Midgar Expressway, killing Tifa, Barret and Red but putting Aerith in a coma and having Cloud either dead or MIA and the lifestream runs out of energy.
This leaves 3 accounted for Clouds and 1 unaccounted for
The OG Cloud is completely unaware of any of this happening
Remake Cloud is having his mind absolutely destroyed by Sephiroth. And I think Cloud is so much more broken this time because Sephiroth has experience with messing with him already.
      Timeline 3 Cloud is missing
Timeline 4 cloud is still Comatose.
I believe the whole date with Aerith in chapter 14 is a vision of timeline 3, not them actually being there.
He does jump dimensions but he can’t without Sephiroth’s help

I think Cloud seeing Aerith and the tear comes down to him now carrying the White Materia and having gone to the other timeline with Aerith when they fell and then woke up in the other world. The tears appear in timelines that are about to expire, and Cloud being exposed to one while with Aerith might be why. As far as the white materia, it has a connection to the planet and the Lifestream. There are 2 scenes in game where we hear Aerith talking to someone who no one else sees, even though the game tries to have people think Nanaki is who she was talking with. Now that Cloud has the materia, and his connection with Aerith, he is now able to converse with her.

Yeah the game shows Cloud having the Black Materia at the end but Cloud actually gave the Black Materia to Sephiroth back at the temple and he clearly never gave it back to him. • @Fleetingflash
    @Fleetingflash 2 місяці тому

My theory is that “The destroyer of worlds” that Cetra mention in their explanation about the black materia is Cloud, that’s why Sephiroth needs him so badly. Cloud has the potential of destroying the planet and all of its versions. And I guess Aerith from the alternative timeline knows that, that’s why she says: “It’s about saving the world and you” - she knows that Cloud can be saved from the destiny that Sephiroth calls upon him. But it’s just a theory, I think the Ultimania will clear things up.

    • @ancarwillis9060

Nah, I think the real bad guy here is and always has been Jenova. Sephiroth is just a Jenova hybrid and a puppet himself. Anyone can become Sephiroth if infected with enough Jenova cells and those infected are driven to get more like an addiction. Personally, I think Sephiroth has the same problem as the Gi. He can't spiritually be broken down. As a Hybrid he can be killed and as Cloud basically threw him into the lifestream in the original he's in a weird spot as he's a spirit in the lifestream that doesnt degrade and get reborn. That said the reason he probably needs Cloud is just so, he's a Spirit. He can control people with Jenova cells but can't actually interact with the world himself. I also think he doesn't use the robes because they're to degraded and Cloud is just the easiest to manipulate. But yeah hopefully the next game clears things up.

Trap Sepiroth in an empty timeline and use meteor there. He can't come back because no lifestream to manipulate because planet is dead. They said everything leads to Advent Children, that's because it already happened. The remnants kadaj yoz and lozoo cannot form if Sepiroth dies along with the planet like Surtr in Thor Ragnarok. Reunion, Remake, Rebirth, and last Ragnarok. They teased this in the final battle in Rebirth. bizarro sefi tried to jump timelines to escape, what happens if you get trapped. There is one where we see Zack accepting Meteor coming, but gets yoinked. By Aerith maybe. So the thing is, Sepiroth must absorb all of himself into one before the party traps him in a dying timeline, including Cloud. Sepiroth will manifest in him because of their connection. But somehow, Cloud will be pushed into the clear materia and the clear materia will keep Cloud safe.
Aerith's only prayer is "to keep the others safe" it's not "please stop meteor."
What would blow people's minds is if there's Rufus and Turks gameplay on the next. or at least a spinoff prologue before Ragnarok. I'd be okay with that. The journey where they destroy everything Jenova not even one single cell remains, because Rufus refuses to be manipulated. It's important for them to do so because another Sepiroth if not Sepiroth himself will rise if Jenova is still around.

No it doesn't, I get pretty Is fed up Every time this argument is made about multiverse characters. It Is happened with , Gamora in the mcu , it happened with laurel in arrowverse. makes me believe we don't hold emotional attachments. Like a pet could be replaceable By an identical pet and you'd be fine.
The reason why it's does matter from a character perspective ,. Let's say a friend or partner died but then you found a multiverse version of them, but all your experience where completed differently. That you weren't as close, it didn't like the things you used. Its a brand new relationship. See the experience that you have with a person hold meaning and defines any relationship.
However, I don't think people are actually thinking big enough.
I think from what's going on Aerith and Sephiroth are omnipresent throughout this multiverse. Which is why they can travel between them and are aware I'd them that their essentially is one being fragments across time and space. I think what we saw in the OG happened , what we see in remake and rebirth happened parallel to it. Their is a much much bigger endgame that sephiroth had planned. That we only caught glimpse off in the og game. Think of the Rami spider man movies then the tasm movies and how we seen them end. Now look at spiderman nwh .and how they made both of them Canon and how it expanded the story . This but a much bigger context. Like Dooms actually plan from secret war
I think that because Cloud has sephiroth cells in him. This mako poisoning wasn't actually whats going on But because of those cells . Cloud can see and dip into multiple universe and is getting confused. It'd why he thought he saw tifa without the scar. He was actually remembering a different version of her. Why he's having these flashes.
