    As a doctor, I often get asked about coffee and its effects on the body. There's a lot of conflicting information out there, so I wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.
    First off, let's talk about caffeine. Coffee contains caffeine, a stimulant that can make you feel more alert and focused. It can also increase your heart rate and blood pressure. The effects of caffeine can vary from person to person, and it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour for it to take effect.
    Now, what about the relationship between coffee and chronic stress? While caffeine can give you a quick energy boost, it can also increase your cortisol levels, which can contribute to chronic stress. This is why it's important to be mindful of how much coffee you consume, especially if you're already dealing with chronic stress.
    Next, let's address the link between coffee and headaches. While caffeine can help relieve headaches in some people, it can also trigger them in others. It's all about finding the right balance for your body.
    What about the impact of coffee on thyroid problems? Studies have shown that high levels of caffeine intake can interfere with thyroid function, particularly in people with hypothyroidism. If you have a thyroid condition, it's important to talk to your doctor about how much coffee is safe for you to consume.
    And what about ulcers? While coffee doesn't cause ulcers, it can irritate them and worsen symptoms. If you have an ulcer, it's best to avoid coffee altogether or consume it in moderation.
    Finally, it's important to note that not everyone should drink coffee. Pregnant women, for example, should limit their caffeine intake to 200mg daily. People with anxiety disorders or heart problems may also want to avoid coffee, as it can exacerbate symptoms.
    So, is coffee healthy? It really depends on the individual and their unique circumstances. As with anything, moderation is key.       Yes me too I only have 2 to 3 cups a day but I never had problem I am 71 and being drinking since I am 10 years old.

      I drink coffee all my live.
      My mother do likewise.
      She only pass on at the age of 83, twenty six years ago.
      I myself is also 74 yrs this year 2023 and pretty healthy too.

      If I drink 2 cups every day I get sick but I'm also eating a lot of junk food like fried food and candy so I switched to healthy food sense I got GERD. But I usually have one cup of caffenated coffee and one cup decaf.

      If you'r drinking since 15 and you never stopped for a couple of years than you can't compare to anything.. you might feel fine but it doesn't mean you wont feel much better without it

    My grandfather is a coffee lover... He's day is not complete without coffee... Its 2023 but still he is kicking he is 106yrs old...still can walk still can stand he is super healthy

      I don't know who to believe anymore. Some say drinking coffee is bad and some say good. And you know what? I've been drinking coffee since I was 12 and throughout my lifetime, my coffee consumption has increased many folds. I used to drink 8 cups a day at work years ago without any ill effects. I still drink coffee today but not as much as I used to, maybe like 3 cups a day. I'm approaching my senior years now and caffeine never seem to bother me. When I go on vacations I can still drink the whole pot late at night and still go to sleep.

      @@stanm299 The reason is because, like most things we ingest, they contain positive and negative benefits. Coffee has both positive and negative aspects, the people that say coffee is good are referring to the positive benefits, the ones saying it is bad are referring to the negatives. The best way to decide what you are willing to ingest is to way up the positives vs the negatives and make your choice. One negative most people don't mention is that coffee, particularly decaf, is very susceptible to mold, most people don't realise that there is a good chance they are consuming mold with every cup they drink.

      @@jimmyshaba9085 Moderation is a misconception, there is no measurement of it. Moderation is basically just an amount that has been deemed safe to ingest and means nothing, think of it this way, would taking cyanide in moderation be healthy? Of course not, it's poison and would kill you, instead the right question is, _is it safe?_
      People need to find out what all the benefits, positive and negative, of coffee are and weigh up if it is safe for them to drink, "moderation" is irrelevant. Another example would be, if a person had an allergy to a compound found in coffee, would moderation be key or safety? Consuming coffee in moderation would literally kill this person.

    I am going to be 82, drinking coffee since I was about 18 and climbing mountains and helping people on a poverty island to survive Typhoons and flooding and sickness. Yes coffee has been my standby but so has the Lord. They are an awesome combination ❤

    Black Coffee is my drink during my fasting window, and a spoonful of black ground Coffee brew is making my energy on top. When I feel weak I will right away grab a cup of coffee and I am good to go. Yes coffee is great 💖 Thanks Doc!

    I suffered from gastric reflux for ages, had an endoscopy, which showed inflammation of the oesophagus, and a hiatus hernia. I was put on a proton pump inhibitor, which relieved the symptoms. Years later, I tested the ph of the espresso coffee which I drank throughout the day. The ph was 3 - very acidic. I tested tea, which was near to 5, stopped coffee, changed to tea, stopped the PPI, and haven't had reflux symptoms since - about twelve years.

    Dr Robert cassar says coffee is loaded with pesticide so it's important to buy organic coffee and all coffee has acids in it so people need to take organic baking soda in water at least once a day. It may be best to take the soda before drinking coffee? But any time is fine. Caffeine tea also has acids that need removal with soda

      My back is str8, I have had a slipped disque pushing against my sciatic nerve, along with spurs on the 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae. The Caffeine does help.

      @@petermedupe7137 First rule of thumb.. Don't give anyone in the multi billion dollar 'back pain industry' your money. This world is geared to make everyone and keep everyone in a constant state of ill health. No need to go into any detail here as to what causes the sciatica pain 'inside' the body because surely you must already know that. It's what causes it 'outside' the body that's key. And to cut a very long story short.. it's WHAT YOU'RE SITTING ON! All sofas and armchairs etc in every store are designed (BY design!) 'soft and low' and you won't find anything anywhere otherwise (not even in the waiting room of a top Harley Street back clinic I once walked into, lol!). All such 'soft and low' furniture causes the base of the spine to bow (lordosis), and even sitting down on one of these monstrosities for just five minutes can cause havoc with an already weakened sacroiliac joint. Car seats are also notorious unless they're firm leather, non-bucket type seats as in higher up SUVs. But it's a simple change of lifestyle from this moment onwards.. Never sit down on a 'soft and low' sofa or chair again (and I mean not even for FIVE minutes!) And make sure that whatever you do sit on that your knees are not higher than your pelvis. And ALWAYS keep the base of the spine absolutely straight. I hope rhis helps. 👍

    Spot on - our cortisol is ⬆️ in the morning, so best to wait 1 hour after waking up.

    Funny enough, most people drink coffee because they need that little kick to start their day, for me, I drink coffee because I like the smell and the taste of it. The aroma of the coffee just makes me feel super relaxed.

    When I was younger I used to drink 12 to 24 cups of coffee daily because I working, only black coffee. Now that I’m retired I’ll have two to three cups of black coffee in the morning. 👍👍for the video

    This seems like a balanced view, drink coffee if it's ok for you and not overmuch, don't if you have issues - - then drink Teeccino herbal coffee 100% no caf, or decaf

    I've been drinking coffee for many years. One day, I started not feeling good. I experienced high blood pressure and noise behind my neck, and sometimes, my heart beat faster. I had also, heavy back pain, and when I woke up in the morning, i felt my hands were in pain and stiff and headache and neck pain.This experience of mine stopped when I quit drinking coffee. My doctor prescribed me a BP medicine, but it never worked. I drink coffee now but not every day, but it is decaffeinated.

      Be careful with decaf, it is very susceptible to mold

      It is really recommended that one cup of coffee is sufficient. Half tbsp should be enough. Greeks drink coffee too. But they prepare their coffee differently

    Addiction, get in your nerves, coffee it's a stimulant, like the starter do to ignite any engine or motor. But, it doesn't last that longer, it's a temporal stimulant, depending of your metabolism, it's true, I was drinking also Red Bull, it almost got me wings to go to heaven. I got caffeine overdose, for drinking both Coffee and red bull, the same day.

    I'm 73 years old I'm still drinking coffee every morning with a bit of sugar and 2teaspoon of creamy milk still feel stronger, without coffee ifeel empty

    Seriously? I've been drinking coffee for more than 70 years and have no health issues, take no medications. And I can fall asleep 5 minutes after a cup of coffee.

    We talk about coffee, but the focus seems to be on caffeine and most of the people I work with drink energy drinks. Loaded caffeine and other "energy boosters" .

    Dear doctor, I bow to the "coffee" every day. How do you think we nurses and doctors supported ourselves during the night hours of continuous work? In the Covid period, it was the indispensable drug. - Now we drink coffee (maximum 3 coffe expresso) during the morning, then finish. Please doctor, explain to us, how to handle coffee?. Everyone who works at night needs coffee. Desperately.

    Coffe strips our bodies of vitamins and minerals. I used to drink half a cup because its yummy. It smells better than it tastes to me. It drains me now because i used to drink a cup and fast on Saturdays after breakfast. My body is probably thinking oh no shes not going to eat 😮

    I drink Decaf coffee at ihop Black with A pinch of salt. I have put half and half of it but i'm starting to enjoy it without sugar.

    I love pure black coffee and drink freshly brewed coffee only. Usually 1-2 mugs a day satisfy me. Some days I get so busy that I get to enjoy just one mug. Some days I drink half a mug and don't really enjoy it anymore. I'd then switch to green tea or just caffeine free tea like chamomile or peppermint. It really depends on the body's needs every single day. I think we need to learn how to focus on understanding and communicating with our body.

    I have drunk coffee since I was around 6-7 years old. I have only just cut back very recently " last couple of months" as I am not as fussed on it now. Most of my life I would of had 15 - 20 plus cups a day. In saying that I had also smoked since being a child. I am now near 60.

    I am really fed up with warnings about coffee. Following some strange warnings from homeopathic therapists I did not drink coffee for years. I drank herbal tea and others instead. But have never been able to really tolerate herbal tea. Now for years again I do drink coffee and forget all these strange advices. In fact scientists seem to confirm more and more that coffee can be really healthy if one does not drink it in liters. (But all depends on dosages, doesn't it?) So I continue to enjoy my cup of coffee and the indian black tea as well. ☕☕ Especially coffee is good for my intestines and also gives me relaxation -- wonderful after work or a hiking-tour.

    Coffee makes me tired. I don’t know if it always has. I was diagnosed with MS 20 years ago and I also had my first baby . I still enjoy a cup of coffee but it relaxes me and actually makes me sleepy..

      Check for low red blood count. coffee and tea or anything with tannins including certain fruit will cause this.

    Decaf is the way, I generally only have coffee as Cappuchino. Best to have last one in early afternoon. Gotta be better 4u than Red Bull
