      Personally I watched it on 1.5X speed, but that's just my personal preference. I appreciate when people speak slowly and clearly for others to understand, because those of us who want to watch it at a higher speed can it just choose a faster setting. I wish more people paid attention to the playback controls, because I've seen people give up on a video that they think is "too slow."

      I have been taking cold showers for 20 days now. I hope to see more beneficial results as I continue.

    • @DrKateLyzengaDean
      @DrKateLyzengaDean  11 місяців тому +26

      Exposing your body to cold conditions in moderation (cold plunge, showers,, splashing water on your face) helps tone the vagus nerve, which helps improve parasympathetic signaling - the opposite of fight-or-flight and adrenaline. Research also shows it to be beneficial to circulation and the immune system. Warm showers feel good, and can be relaxing, but there is solid scientific research that explains why cold therapy helps regulate stress, not create it. Many find it invigorating, not torturous! I think both can be helpful in different situations 👍🏼

I self diagnosed HPA Axis Dysfunction, and I have Hashimotos for which I have stopped levothyroxine because my body wanted to rapidly detox it, so it made me feel worse. I had to dose at 3 a.m. just to sleep off the reaction. (I had taken it before another time in my life and knew I wouldn't die if I stopped. I take raw adrenal of my choosing, Standard Process, from a chiro friend's supplement cabinet presently, and ginko biloba, Progressive Professional brand, I get from a nearby compound pharmacy.) Hoo Ray... someone who said: "High Cortisol raises Glucose." That's a fact!!! My Endo. who called my HIGH a.m. glucose while not eating the "Dawn Phenomenon" No explanation, just Dawn Phenomenon as if though it happens to all Diabetics and to accept it. I didn't accept high a.m. glucose, I figured it out - High Cortisol, started deep breathing when glucose was/is high with no food intake reason. I do eat as you suggest. If I lower my cortisol with natural supplements will I lose belly fat? I have a very clean diet, no bad oils, artificial sugars, and very no/low sugar in my diet. I have tried intermittent fasting a have not lost a lb. in 2 months. I eat clean, walk and do wt. resistant training. I'm at a lost of what to do. I take good fish oils, and a good magnesium. I did have a radical hysterectomy 7 weeks ago. But have been doing well with all that plus I am 69 so no menopause issues. I just can't lose wt. and do need to!!!

      Hi, Patty! There are lots of reasons why you could be doing all the right things with lifestyle and still struggle to lose weight. Cortisol problems are one of those potential root causes, as are hormone problems (given your need for a hysterectomy, I'd look there, too). Low hormones like testosterone or thyroid could also impact weight loss now that you're in menopause. I have several videos about different strategies for fat loss that you might find helpful, like this one: ua-cam.com/video/lDyLSgVZRqw/v-deo.html

Is there another thing i should be checking this for or is that the adequate test. I have tried numerous magnesium supplements for my cramps, but i find they never seem to do anything to improve, so... maybe it is indeed not an issue in my body.

      Healthy carbohydrates can be useful for regulating blood sugar, but only when balanced by proteins, fats, and fiber. • @DrKateLyzengaDean
      @DrKateLyzengaDean  5 місяців тому +1

      Exercise causes something called eustress - basically, moderate and beneficial stress. That said, negative side effects can happen if you don't "work up" to moderate exercise (when you haven't done any for many years). The exercise itself isn't bad - you just need a slower ramp-up.

  • @فتاةالقمر-ك4ه
    @فتاةالقمر-ك4ه 7 місяців тому

    • @DrKateLyzengaDean
      @DrKateLyzengaDean  7 місяців тому +1

      Cortisol is a tricky one to generalize - it really depends on so many factors. That said, moderate amounts of resistance exercise seems to have more positives than negatives when it comes to overall health - so perhaps the answer is moderation!

    Fish is the detour for omega 3, as fish only get omega 3 from algae, which in turn has eaten its prey and accumulated in the fat predatory fish. In times of global overfishing, heavy metal accumulation and microplastics in fish, one should only use bioalgae oil to promote one's own health, fish stocks and thus the ecological balance of the oceans.

      Algae can be a source of omega 3's, but there are also fish oil supplements that are safe and free from heavy metals and microplastics

    None of the fish oils show the packaging. None indicate wild caught or source of the fish, 3rd party tested etc ....

    You can’t even see the prices of your supplements without giving up all your information. Why are you hiding simple information like that? Imaging having to give up all that information (choose any story) just to look at the price of something.

      Fullscript just needs your first name and email to make sure you're not a bot - I'm not hiding anything! You could also google the price of these products 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Does it have to be fish oil? I take an omega DHA supplement that is algae based. I've always heard that taking fish oil is unnecessary because the fish's healthy fats come from the algae THEY eat.
    I'm a whole food plant-based vegan and I don't eat fish for ethical reasons.
    I went to a naturopath a few years ago and agreed to take fish oil for a few months and I didn't see any difference compared to my regular vegan supplement.
    I actually didn't feel or look different at all from taking any DHA supplement so I'm just not sure which one is better or if it makes a difference at all?

      EPA/DHA from algae is a good option for those avoiding animal products - but the supplements often have a lower dose, so be sure you're getting enough!

      I don't know of a service that provides these tests direct to consumer in the UK. But, since they're at-home test kits, I'm able to help my one-on-one clients order them from the US! If you're interested, feel free to apply for a consultation here: bit.ly/drkate1on1
