The Mazda rotaries are amongst my favourites. In South Australia there’s always been a strong following in this genre but as we get older I’m not sure if the next generation has the same passion for the cars that I’ve loved growing up. Everyone here drives suvs or utes. These vehicles are practical but don’t evoke the emotions and feelings that the classic cars provide. Great content Dino, keep living the dream.
As a new gen myself I definitely have a passion for a lot of classic cars especially rotaries and it’s pretty rare to see rotaries back here in the states and when I do it really puts a big smile on my face but I can’t wait to get a rotary one day
Was watching this with my son and saw your buddy Aaron, said to him ‘I bet he is a Kiwi’. The ‘nineteen sivunty secks’ confirmed my suspicions immediately 😂
I really appreciate that greys are coming into fashion. I have a GC8 that I took ages deciding on the color. Finally went with a Volvo anthracite from the early 90s.
Love the rotary duo! I grew up in California and my best friends Dad had an RX7 and RX3. Later my career was in the USAF and my first assignment was in Tokyo. Me and my car buddies were in heaven and bought various JDM cars tuned them and had the best time in our lives driving and racing all over Japan! Loved it so much I learned Japanese, went to Okinawa, Aomori, and Hokkaido on a special assignment. Miss it so much. This video brings back some great memories!
I grew up in Friuli (IT) and my mom's friend has a FB RX7 (this was round 1990) I though that car was a spaceship. And yes , they were very uncommon there. I later moved to the US in 1996. Right out of high school (2001) I came into possession of a 1988 Anniversary Edition FC Turbo2 is very rough shape. As much as I wanted to fix it up I could not afford it and gave the car to a friend. I had no idea just how rare the AE was. Nowdays I really wish I would have kept it as good FCs are expensive and hard to find. I stayed in the Mazda world until the late 00s playing with KLZE Probe GTs and MX6s. I've always been a fan of Mazda
Yeah definitely, I like some of the crazy quad rotor builds and everything in between, but then you see something that looks like it could have just left the showroom floor, and it's just pure classic 👌 Something like that is probably even more rare.
it also means you get to spend money on things that keep it running and keep it looking nice. unlike all the stripped interior jdm cars out there with decked out widebodies and dumb camber
The RX-7 is my ideal ride. Clean setup and simple. Wheels are a perfect match up. Wish the specs on the wheels were disclosed but will reach out to Aaron at Ace Auto.
15s are the right choices for Watanabe, but the 17s looked fairly at home when you consider that Aussies and Kiwis like oversized wheels on virtually EVERYTHING. 🤙
Thx Dino! Hopefully I'll be back in Tokyo around August/September. Unfortunately i can't be there in July... so no 7.7. for me. I think i gotta try also those food trucks in shiodome 🤓
If Ferrari can get an exemption to keep internal combustion engines alive, maybe Mazda could as well for rotaries given its unique architecture. Moving it to the high end market would assure low volumes but yeah, I guess Mazda engineers already looked at all possibilities 😕...
@@dino_dc Modified cars of that age~ what tricks do they use to get them past the yearly shaken? I'm preparing to head over to Japan (Osaka) myself and definitely need to learn the tricks there. ^_^
Wow a New Zealander messing around with rotaries who would have thought
Wait till you see them fuck around with 6 rotor builds.
New Zealandah😂

Yeah the boys! Met these legends while swapping our SR20 in the PV car park - sick to see them here🔥
Nice cars! That SA22 is simply amazing on Watanabes. Nothing wrong about the RX3 but the SA22 suits my style 100%
becoming one of my favorite jdm youtubers keep killing it
Thank you!! ❤️

@@dino_dc Thanks! Super proud of that thing, one of these days it's gonna be finished 🙏
Very cool! I grew up riding around in my grandmothers red Mazda RX-2 she bought new. I loved hitting the power antenna switch all the time😂

Damn you were everywhere in Japan!
Clean RX-3 build, gray paint looks fantastic with the black Watanabes, would look better with smaller wheel size though. That exhaust looks sick!
I've been loving the recent content!
Thanks 🙏🏻
LOVE LOVE LOVE Old school rotaries. I get such a hard on for RX2, 3 and 4s! Keep it up Dino!
Love seeing rotaries on your channel, Dino. Can’t wait to see your 7/7 coverage.
Should be a good event hopefully
Soundtrack of Japanese Vol 1 : Pure rotary symphony

Those are super clean 👌
No crazy mods, just clean and tidy.
Really nice 👌👌
Yeah proves simple is also an option, no need to go crazy on everything all the time 👌🏻

I have arrived early, keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Rotary video by Dino. I watch.
Thanks!! ❤️
Majority of those two will *Definitely* be in New Zealand. There is a reason we have the worlds best rotary tuners/builders.
I need to visit!
Keep it up, Dino!
Will do, thank you!
Love the rotaries but got to do a Shout out to the Acura NSX in the background way down the street. 😮🙂
Sapporo does good onigiri as well. Nice domestic rotary rides
good video Dino!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your vids- would be cool if you could explain the different plates used in Japan…what the numbers and kanji mean?
Thank you! Yeah can do, pretty simple 👌🏻
Diecast car shop tours please.
Tamiya, tomica, kyosho, aoshima...
Nice Rotaries
Personally I've never liked Nardo Grey (particularly with black wheels), but it's a very cool build otherwise. The SA22 looks even cooler, though.
my uncles aaron kingvig with the grey on black rx3
Other perfect video!✌️
Thank you 🙌
smaller and wider rims on the rx3 would be fire
Hey each to their own 👍🏻

Yeah it’s not looking too feasible
Convert to hydrogen or alcohol, how they going to complain then?
7:00 | Brosef is wearing a Rose Gold Richard Mille RM-11?!?!

Thanks for the suggestion, I have but I just forgot that day. Doh
Hey Dino have you been to the shop Naito engineering?
Not yet, I tried contacting them but they seemed far from interested
No way a secondary bridge is making 250hp 🤣
Greetings from fukuoka 😊❤
Greetings back from Tokyo!
ohh my giddy heart -this RX3, is going to give me wet dreams when i sleep..
I'm afraid we will never see a new rotary from mazda. Unless there is a major change in worldwide politics
Yup, afraid so
Baby got brap!
These are still cheapish here in the states if you can find one but seeing them in person they’re beautiful cars
They sure are, especially when this clean
Do ya know the wheel offset on the sa?
No sorry I don’t, you can reach out to Aaron and find out though
I'd love to know how they handle shaken~
In what way?

Hey each to their own
Pretty mild pig rooting for a bridgy ..you can't beat the throaty noise of a Webber on a rotar.
