Definitely agree with mad Mike on the 20B being one of the best rotaries!
The 20B sound is soooo much nicer than a quad rotar in my opinion
I think Mike will end upl running this in radbull with its new moniker release version 👌
And then he'll transition all of his rotary combinations over eventually?
If he's got a good relationship with mazda then the new iconic sp or whatever at the motorshow this year. Be a good way to drum up more support and recognition...plus they'd only have to supply the chassis/body
Madbul needs an update
@@kylepalmer2360 oh shit I think you are right? Is it madbull or radbull that is the 4 rotar NA FD (original previously was 20B PP NA)?
The after market game has made the rotary engine insanely better than Mazda could have been bothered with. At a price for sure but it lives!
@@ChristianAdrover I'll agree to disagree.
@CRFLAus mazda would never of made money if every engine was billet also this is 2022-2023... tech not when last rotory was 2002 😂😂
The plate’s awesome 🎉
@@jjsorenavki7005 No shit. A lot of comments have been deleted, you may have missed a decent discussion. The point being, aftermarket has kept the rotary alive, not Mazda making billet components.
@@jjsorenavki7005 And that 2002 13B was nearly identical to the 1992 13B RX-7
Thats unreal! Having that consumable plate that enables the billet part to be protected is awesome.
After seeing Rob start CNCing his own billet stuff, then seeing these, wow. Hes got some catching up to do.
Good thing for him is that he is doing all of that basically alone, not with a dedicated CNC company!
@@eaglefeatherexactly
except rob doing the cnc template and output on his own ;)
Robs on another level as far as this goes because I have no doubt his finished product will be more than above my expectations and it's 100% all HIS ... Big big difference and these people all have a massive head start but he's doing real world testing and problem solving like any R and D team would and just watching him progress and learning how to make things live at stupid power was awesome.. he made his own self-built engines last twice as long as anything the supposed top reputable shops in the area have for him in the past , he learns from his mistakes always improving And he just keeps pushing ...
I doubt that’s really true. There’s also the fact that they’re on the other end of the planet.
Really wanna see RobDahm and MadMike, in a room together and just talk. :D
What an awesome vid. Madmike is a treasure . I feel like he’s one of the ones that’s kept the rotors alive and provided that interest for the youngins of today to develop the love we all had for these things when we were young. Hopefully I can meet him one day
I love every episode with Simon. He's such a chill dude!
They really are beautiful pieces of engineering.
Gotta love those "bullet" plates.
What an emotion. Engines hit home for me as an enthusiast. I'll be honest im planning down the line to build a 4 rotor ultima RS with dct manual box. 😊 . ICE cars are the way of a man , no ev💪.
Those rotary engines look Bitchin!
That's awesome to see! Looking forward to seeing that in one of Mad Mikes cars 😍
So sick. Cant wait to see what he does with the billet rotor 🔥

As a Rotary enthusiast, iv always thought ProMaz did some great engine work. We need to see more of @promaz work! 😊😊 salute to MadMike and his newly debuted #FiveRotor #787D tribute race car
Awesome work Simon and team
This is like the 12 rotor engine that was also billet made in America. Rob Dahm now has it and is doing some precision work to make it run perfectly smoothly but the work that has been done to it is nothing short of phenomenal
crazy stuff !! so cool to see !
So awesome to see these new rotary hard parts
Love the ending quote from Mad Mike “Rotaries For Life” 👏👏👏
Mad Mike Promaz Racing FullBoost 🎉😮🎉
Any video with Mike is Rad Thx guys
First 5 rotor. Can't wait to see that. Awesome. Rob D's 12 rotor is a freak of engineering as well. I need a 3 rotor in my 280z.
Rob did not design of build that 12-rotor. It was built years ago to be put into a drag boat...He gave it to Rob to get running and iron out the issues.
@@kx454 of course
@@kx454yessir. I don’t think he was saying Rob created it. Just that it’s a crazy design overall
@@lilman227 Ehh. He said, "Rob D's 12 rotor is a freak of engineering as well"...That kinda claims that it is his.
@@kx454 It is Rob’s motor though. So that claim is accurate. He just didn’t make it
Love it!!! Two good enthusiastic cats.
Wow I remember that RX4 in a magazine 20+ years ago. Amazing. Had a mate with one with a 13B and it was insane.
Works or usable art! Very nice !! I'm excited to see a single rotor edition
Love this, I hold a secret spot in my heart for the RX7 and rotary.
Ive been watching simon for years & its my dream to own one of his built billet motors.
Simon is the Rotary guru..
Legends
Mike is pumped on the BilletPro kit
That’s art right there
Damm mike yo come along ways done good for your self well done .BEAST
Been watching anything promaz on this channel & its still another launage to me, but i really really want one with a nice turbo on it. Top video gentleman & shout to Brian frm the UK 😎👊👍👌✌
I hope there is a Collaboration between MadMike and ProMaz with an engine or entire car build of some sort
Pretty pretty parts go brap brap
speechless! wow! much want.
The after market single handedly keeping rotaries alive.
I cant afford a Rotor right now, But my 2000Mdl RM 125 revs to the moon !!
Mad Mike is the man for rotary, right up there with rob dahm
Omg. Wpw they look insane
Awsome
Renesis side exhaust 20B setups will be great. So long as tiny thin side seal springs are not stressed with turbo heat, they will handle other types of boost.
Side port exhaust allows more powerful burn of the fuel.
Multi stage intake of Renesis allows better air flow at all RPMs.
Indeed would be cool to see that and shit you can just mill out the rotors from a reny to 3mm and they’ll chooch ! What would be cool is 20b reny fully NA for sure ! The intake ports are already gnar the way they are …. Be really cool to see itb stacks on a reny also! Was working on a CAD design for the 6 port but decided the four ports area better go for ITB !
DAMN that’s purdy👍
I would really like to see a 5 rotor! Is there any aftermarket stand alone ECUs that can manage a five rotor engine?? I know it’s sorta like managing a 15 cylinder engine. Pretty sure it would be complicated.
I don't know why the billet sideplate engineers haven't considered making Renesis type sideplates. The Renesis hybrid 13B is a type of engine parts combination that's gaining popularity for equalizing the breathing specs on both the intake and exhaust side. And the housing that are most commonly used due the most bolt-on compatibility, the GSL-SE, can still be bought from Mazda or secondhand in great condition.
A billet Renesis hybrid would take abuse if it's turbocharged.
single rotor turbo in a kp61, thats always been a build ive thought would be sick.
Would have liked to see their machine shop
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Hows those anodised plates!! sick!
God those things look beautiful
There’s a 1 rotor Porsche 356 on the Tube that is absolutely amazing.
That moment you get caught up and cannot decide on what direction you want to go !
s1rota Billy hol jst built a 20b with no money mans a legend i tell ya
He's such a well spoken guy! Us Aussies often develop a harsh accent. Not this guy. No swearing (not that many would notice the lack of it) he's very clear articulating everything. I don't know him or met him or anything but he seems very respectful, trust worthy and over all a very professional business man, in my opinion?
Thanks for sharing this great video 👍
Btw rotary owners air-conditioning is the window down and driving faster.......cause you know weight reduction 🤣
Kiwi not Aussie
@@fabiandavis9444I wasn't talking about Mad Mike.....I know Mad Mike is a kiwi 😄
@@jameshatton4405 got ya now 🤣 should have watched more than the first 30 seconds before commenting.
@@fabiandavis9444 hahaha 🤣 all g brother. Glad it came afterwards, gives you something to laugh at. Mad Mike is still a legend but, just disclaiming 🤙
I know the one rotor makes little sense I really love the idea of having a single rotor engine. They look sort of silly when the transmission is 2-3x size of the engine
theres a none friction coating would be good on the plates
When is there going be billet rotors?
Mazzei formula has a 5 rotor or is getting one built
Where can I find mad Mike’s shirt !!!!???
Mean as! Those are so nice aye. Shame I'll never have that kinda money for any of them😬😂
I think Mike needs to have words with Mazda about their astronomical price increase on the REW's recently 😳
Billet engine prone at it's best
What do you think of what Rob Dahm has done with his rotarys and the power he is pushing out.
And he's also got the 12 rotor experimental engine. Mikey
I think Rob and BilletPro are going to work together in the near future. At least Rob mentioned something about that in one of his latest videos, and he recently received a big shipment of parts from them.
Rob is bringing a lot of attention to rotary engines, and he could bring BilletPro a whole lot of new customers.
It's so interesting hearing about Mazda themselves through Mike because I think its something they don't do that well - connecting with there fans outside of Japan
Dear Santa…
For drifting you use billet steel over billet aluminium.
Need a single rotor motor for shifter go karts
Have they considered plating those plate with nikasil ?
Hey bro, can you send it to Indonesia?
Can a rotary be run vertically? Or do they still use a oil sump? I know they use 2-stroke oil. But I thought they had some sort of a sump for the gears too that uses regular engine oil.
Yes the still use a sump so I'd say they aren't multi directional
It will be mad to just order a billet Semi PP 13B crate motor over the internet!
Is there a reason they do not produce housings?
I have only seen plates in a billet version.
Housings are incredibly difficult to manufacture, and Mazda's OEM housings are really good so people have always just used those.
Also the factory housings are aluminium while the irons are just that, they're cast iron. Going with billet plates/irons removes a lot of weight and adds strength were needed, but until Mazda stops selling housings, or the prices rise too high, the market for billet housings isn't all that big.
There are several companies working on and testing both billet housings and rotors, but we probably won't see those for sale as off-the-shelf part for several years still.
With the plates you make the whole ''skeleton'' of it out of billet aluminium, then insert the steel plate. The steel plate is ''just'' a flat piece of steel with a coating so the machining is fairly simple.
With housings you need to machines the weird inside shape just right with really good accuracy, then spray on a hard coating while keeping the layer thickness extremely accurate and even.
*I wanna see what a billet hybrid can do...*
Renesis irons and FD housings, but in a 20b.
I don't think many engine builders would bother with that.
@@fullboost Yeah... But, it'd still be an interesting build.
Droool
why the engine housing is not billet cnc? why only the engine plate?
The housing isn't a weak point compared to other components.
does this shop has its own youtube channel or something to watch builds ?
There is quite a lot of content on this channel from Promaz. 👍
This is a great improvement for the rotary, but who can afford it? This stuff is crazy expensive!
What's the most rotors you can have. Or is it unlimited
That's not much different than asking what is the most amount of pistons you can have. Everything just gets bigger, heavier, hotter, more complex and less justifiable.
That’s a lot of cash sitting on that shelf lol hundreds of hours of run time
How much lighter are this housing? Compare the stock housings?
You mean the billet plates?
@@fullboost yes and let say a complete 2 rotor billet engine. ?
Probably half the weight or 40% lighter. I have a steel pulley I replaced with billet aluminum and it's 40% lighter of the near same design and size
His old mandag savannah
💫MƏNŢAL! 🤪
20B . / RZ 250
I wonder what our American chap, Rob Dahm, would think of this.
why not doing this 10% bigger for lil more cc
Because it still uses many OE parts.
@@fullboost i mean every part 10% bigger
You have to remanufacture many more parts for minimal gains.
@@fullboost ja i got that mate! i am just thinking this would be a powerfull motor
Go to 12rotor billet
Where is the triple like button?
if your just making your own why limit the width/diameter of the rotor?
It's still using many Mazda parts.
like the crank?@@fullboost
@@danhard8440 No, but the aftermarket parts are designed to fit around OE parts.
@@fullboost thanks for the answers im just saying that making a wider rotor would be like boring out or stroking a engine the in between plates don't even need to change
you could make a 2 rotor move the same amount of volume as a 3 rotor
I like you're thinking but it's not that straight forward, you'd need custom housings and everything else
@@danhard8440
Yow
unlucky mike 5 rotor has already been done and so has 6 cant be the first for them bro
5 hasn’t been done yet, get off UA-cam and start working on yourself before trying to run others down

lol your also a dumb kiwi you should know a 5 rotor has been done misfire done it couple months ago
Mike's 5 rotor was the first to be put together, and they are aiming for it to be the first one to start as well.
There are three 5 rotor engines being built; Mad Mike's engine, David Mazzei's engine and one more.
The same company made all three eccentric shafts, and Mike's was the first to be done.
His is still the first one to be built.
Mazzei's build is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Invite rob dahm over. He actually cares about the rotary.
What is your take on what Rob Dahm brings to the billet plate realm?
Rob is now using Billetpro plates.
Yeah here we are where rotary's are def not the cheapest engines to build anymore
Show this to Japanese people and your sales will go through the roof
They probably still have an abundance of parts so it is not a big deal to them
Umm can mad mike be a full time host?
kiwi cringe
Rob dahm copycats lol
Rob is now using Billetpro plates mate.
lol did you seriously just accuse someone of copying the guy who notoriously copies other people's work?
@RobDahm
Imagine a single rotor turbo Mazda AZ1🤩
I'd love to see a Renesis based 20b..overall length the same...but matching, wider side plates to offer larger exhaust ports with better spacing between them. With 3 rotor housings it may end up being a little bit longer(not much IF the normal 20 center plate is more like a 13g-or short 3 rotor plate) also a semi pp in that configuration would probably be awesome as well. The plates and housings should be easy...the eccentric shaft though...
There’s a list of reasons the renesis could never exist as a three rotor. Primarily the housing and side plate architecture.
Mad Mike's mayhem...
