I remember my Dad bought a metallic blue RX-7 SE and me being so thrilled with the smoothness of the engine, the high redline and the general sportiness of the car. Bear in mind that crazy fast cars were in the 5-6 sec 0-60 mph range at the time. So this car, which did the run in the high 7's, was a legitimately quick car. The Pajero is absolutely awesome! Rode in one before and loved it! I'd like to add in that it's not really oil consumption in the sense that it 'burns' oil. It uses oil by design to lubricate the rotor housings so the seals on the rotors move along smoothly and don't take extreme wear. Even then, it doesn't guzzle oil. It's just something that needs to be checked from time to time and oil added in when needed. No big deal!

I had an early Mazda R100 and an RX3, both had buzzers that sounded at 7000 RPM to keep you from over revving it, this was before electronic engine controls that keep that from happening today.
The oil consumption was due to the car pumping a bit of oil into the carb to mix with the gas to lubricate the tip seals, it was just something you lived with and not a bother at all.
