The lead here was bassist Wayne Nelson. The typical singer was Glenn Shorrock during this phase. Later it was John Farnham (Glenn did return for a bit for a while).
Saw LRB in 2014 with Wayne Nelson as the leader. They were absolutely phenomenal. Their prelude into Lonesome Loser was spectacular. One of the best concerts I've seen.
One of my favorite all time pop bands and one of my all time favorite songs. Some other great songs by them are “Man on Your Mind”, “Lady”, “Help is on The Way”, “Cool Change”, “St. Louis”, “Reminiscing”, “D”, “Lonesome Looser”, “Longway There (“Live version”).
Fantastic song. The harmonies and the guitar solo are what makes this song great. That early 80s Rock sound is to die for. Kinda like the rockier side of Ambrosia.
It's getting very sad. I love Willie Nelson but he is not a Rock and Roll performer.

I wonder if it could be a legal issue. I don’t believe there is a single member of the classic lineup left in the band and none of them own the rights to the name “Little River Band”.
Wait til you hear their harmonies singing:”🎶hey ev’rybody yeah, don’t you feel that there’s something…..🎶” as a starter in the epic song “IT’S A LONG WAY THERE”
Also proud to be an Aussie! This band originated from my hometown Adelaide (Glenn Shorrock, Graeham Goble, Beeb Birtles). This is LRB in a more driving uptempo mode. AWESOME SONG!!!!
The original members were all Australian but the vocalist left the band. The vocalist in this video is from Kansas City, Missouri but the rest of the band is still all Aussies.
The lead singer for this song is bassist Wayne Nelson, who was new to the band at the time. It's not their usually lead singer Glenn Shorrock, he is singing back up on this one. Actually in the current line up of Little River Band that tours around Wayne Nelson is now the lead singer, but at the time of this song he wasn't.
40 yrs ago, this was my Friday nite anthem. I'd pop this into the car cassette, jack the volume to 10 and drive into the Houston night. Such a killer song. Want amazing harmonies? Pop in the Eagles or LRB.
Yay! You reacted to my request! Glad you enjoyed it. This track was produced by George Martin who produced ALL of The Beatles records. And that video was played on MTV a lot back in 1982.
I've been telling you guys about the Little River Band forever so you need to trust me when I say "Take It Easy On Me" will be your favorite song by them, I promise.
Thanks for the reaction. This is one of my two favorite LRB songs. The other is "Take It Easy On Me" which is my next recommendation for you. EDIT: I made my comment before watching the video. Just wanted to point out that the word in the lyrics was "calling" not "crawling". Thanks Jay, you made me smile. 🙂
If you’ve already done “reminiscing”, “cool change”, “Ionesome loser” “lady”, and now “night owls” that really leaves “help is on its way”, “man on your mind” and “the other guy” to round out their biggest hit singles.
Me too. One of my favorite memories of my dad was a boys night out years ago to see a band we both loved, the Little River Band...so sorry for your loss. Growing up they were always on the radio on trips...
I remember my Dad asking me if i wanted to go see LRB at a small hall in Ocean City, MD, probably 13 years ago or so. I was like hell yah, they played this song LOUD ! I loved it. My poor dad was like wow it's loud, but we had a great time anyways. My dad liked Reminiscing and all the ballads and so did i. It was a great memory, a band generations could love. Probably the last time he felt up to going out to an event like that, though he lived about 10 more good years . Miss you Pops and thanks for everything, you were the best dad !

One of the ladies, who was apparently the mother of the younger one, spotted my LRB Greatest Hits CD and commented on it. She said that I would get a 5 rating just for having that in my car, but I told her I would pop it in for her. No Goble, Shorrock and Birtles means no LRB. They're essentially a tribute band, now.
Glen Shorrock was the legendary lead vocals during the heights of their success, with all due respect to Farnham.
Yeah this is the guy that stole the band name from G, S, & B.
