😱😱😱😱😱😱 Thought that you would like it. You chose Wisely. 🏆
This song has it all. Even Marley got into the groove. FYI, Gringo is a Little Feat song off of Hoy Hoy, sung and written by the amazing and still kicking Billy Payne. 👍👍(touring with the Doobies)
The other LRB song you reacted to besides Reminiscing is Light Of Day off the same album as Reminiscing. It has the great outro solos including a fretless bass solo. The current musicians that are touring as LRB has nothing to do with the original members, to be avoided at all costs. You want to see Glen Shorock, Beeb Birtles and Graeham Gobel they are the heart of the band but a complicated relationship and story. The guitarist on this track as you discovered is Ricardo 🇮🇹Formosa 👍👍 who played on their first 2 albums. In 1975 and 76. He was replaced by David Briggs in 1976. Im sure this will get lots of likes and maybe we can inch you a little closer to that magic 1K number. It’s great to watch you be so happy. Some amazing Australians they are and a couple of swell Coloradians you are. The good news is there is still more to discover. ❤️❤️

And the crazy thing was, this masterpiece didn't even chart all that high in Australia. I think it may have been because the song length meant it didn't get as much airplay as other songs.

Little River is the name of a small town here in Victoria, Australia. It's located between Melbourne and the large regional city of Geelong. They named the band after this small town after seeing a roadside sign at the Little River turn off on the Princes Highway.

I saw LRB live in 1978 as part of a huge outdoor Rockarena concert. They were backup for main act Fleetwood Mac & Santana.
LRB blew the others off the stage with a brilliant performance of incredible harmonies & incredible musicianship.
I walked out from the gig with a bunch of American guys, whom loudly claimed that LRB were better than the Eagles in concert with flawless vocal harmony.

I’ve been asking every reactor I watch to do this song. Thx Scott for footing the bill!
This was the first song Americans heard from LRB… and paved the way for them here.
To me and my friends in that era, we called them the Aussie Doobie Brothers - lots of band members, great musicianship, great vocals and harmonies… and a kind of country rock feeling.
I saw them live in the late 70’s or 1980. And they could all sing, and were just about recording-perfect live!
Like the Doobs, Hall&Oates, and Kansas… they were worth 10x the cost of a ticket (which then was less than 10 bucks) to see live!

Beeb Birtles, one of the founding members of LRB, was in a band called Zoot in the late 60s-early 70s. One of his band mates was Rick Springfield, who moved to America around '70 or '71, before Birtles helped form the LRB. One of Zoot's most memorable songs was a heavy version of the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby.

When I was very young, I happened to show up at a ticketron outlet at the mall to buy Ted Nugent tickets just as they were opening up the orchestra pit for ticket sales at a Little River Band/Ambrosia concert that night because all the regular seats had sold out.
My gf at the time loved Ambrosia, so I bought two seats dead center right in front of the front row, on the very day of the show.

What an introduction to LRB! A classic song of Graeme Goble's repertoire from 1972 while he was in the group 'Mississippi'. As it happens the group was changed to Little River Band because it was more a 'local' thing and the name cones from a town not far from Geelong in Victoria. This song has fantastic guitar work from Rick Formosa with Glenn Shorrock's gentle vocals underpinned by the great harmonies of Beeb Birtles, Graeme Goble and Derek Pellucci. Similarities with CSN and the Doobies may be made but I think LRB are unique in the world of Australian folk-rock music. Thanks for playing.

Saw L.R.B. on a sun baked September afternoon at a minor league baseball park as the middle act along with Heart and Bob Welch. They looked like some guys just jumped on stage from the audience. Very casual. Even though I was only 12 at the time I remember it well. The lead guitar player was a tall guy wearing glasses. He had the best tone, before I knew about tone. The lead singer had a great voice and good repor with the crowd. Even though it was the day I fell in love with Heart, it was also the day I became a fan of The Little River Band. Side note: not long after this show, one of the local TV stations would play their song 'Shut Down, Turn Off' at the end of the broadcast day.✌️

it was secretly bought off, not sold, by international ex band members when they realised that the founders of the band had not put a legal hold on the name.
There was plenty of petty excuses used and the idiot and probably corrupt US judge actively allowed the theft of the Intellectual Property of the three founders.
They only managed to get one thing out of it, the traitors could only play music that had their name in the credits which was a massive kick to them since it forbid them from playing over 3/4 of the groups songs.
Those musicans were good, but they were nowhere remotely in the same league as Gobel, Birtles and Shorrock.
The name LRB is now reguarded as trash and no one will go anywhere near it.
They also burnt a lot of bridges in Australia at the betrayal and blatant theft.
No other aussie musician will have anything to do with them anymore.
      They got themselves Blacklisted.
All the while the three founders are now known as B.S.G. and play ALL their songs under the new band name that they put a legal lock on.

Riccardo Formosa was born in Rome, but spent his formative years in Montreal, Canada. In 1974 he emigrated to Australia where he found employment as a commercial music arranger and studio musician. Formosa was also a founding member of the Little River Band, for whom he wrote studio arrangements and played lead guitar on tours and two successful albums in 1975-76.
Formosa commenced a Bachelor of Music degree in 1979 at the NSW State Conservatorium of Music, studying under Martin Wesley-Smith and Don Banks, but abandoned the course the following year. He continued his studies privately with Richard Toop before returning to Italy in 1982 as the recipient of an Australia Council Fellowship. He was awarded a further Fellowship in 1983, which allowed him to continue his studies with Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome (from whence he graduated with distinction) and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. While in Siena he also took the opportunity to attend Franco Ferrara's masterclasses in conducting.
Formosa has continued to work as an arranger, conductor and studio musician for recordings, radio and television. He became Artistic Director of Melbourne New Music, an organisation run by the Victorian College of the Arts and the Victorian Arts Studio, on his return to Australia in 1983, and was composer-in-residence with Musica Viva in 1986.
Formosa's compositions were selected to represent Australia at the four ISCM World Music Days held in Canada, Holland, Hungary and West Germany between 1984 and 1987, and also at the 1984 Paris International Composers' Rostrum, the 1986 Gaudeamus International Music Festival in Amsterdam and the Buffalo New Music Festival in the USA in 1989. His music has been performed by such ensembles as the Gaudeamus Quartet, the Tokyo City Philharmonic, the Hungarian Radio Orchestra, and the Seymour Group. In 1988 Riccardo Formosa was the winner of the John Bishop Memorial Prize, other awards including the Gold Lion Award from the Cannes Advertising Festival and the Mobius Award (Chicago) for the original music score for 'Best International Television Commercial' in 1991, and many Australian FACTS and Art Directors' Club awards for original music in Media and Advertising.

@DFreela . If you're hoping to hear "this particular song, sounding this particular way" in August,.....
      You'll be sadly disappointed.....
Unless the "USA Little River Band" has managed to find 3 men who sound exactly like "Birtles, Shorrock, Gobles" did in July 2003 when this particular recording was made.
Search UA-cam for "Full Circle It's A Long Way There" to watch and listen to magic !!!

The original LRB were an amazing band with great pedigrees. Singer Glenn Shorrock had been in The Twighlights and Axiom (Axiom had a big hits here in Australia with A Little Ray Of Sunshine and Arkansas Grass, vocals were shared with Brian Cadd). Beep Birtles had been in Zoot along with Daryl Cotton and Rick Springfield (Rick moved to the US and did tv as well as had a big hit with Jessie's Girl). Graham Gobbles and Beep were in a band called Mississippi who had a brilliant song called Kings of the World. If you listen to it, you will hear the kind of harmonies LRB became famous for.

It was a great venue. Torn down in '96 or '97. Real shame.
Held close to 3,000 and in the round with a rotating stage. Saw so many concerts there ranging from Rock to Jazz to Fusion to Prog to Country to Big Band. Northwest of Philly just outside of Valley Forge National Park in PA.
It was a 15 to 20 minute drive from where I lived back then. Right next to a 'Steak and Ale' restaurant (remember that chain?). They'd let us park in their rear parking area, have dinner, walk right next door to the show (where alcohol was served) and then walk back over to the restaurant for a night cap and a snack or not.
Was really an entertainment venue for adults.
Here's a setlist from a concert 3 days later also in PA (Harrisburg) which would have been pretty much the same setlist that I heard/saw performed at Valley Forge, PA..

There were 5 phases of the LRB. I saw the 4th phase...Troll. Go back and crawl under your rock.
      1987-1998: Shorrock's return
After Farnham's departure, Little River Band were in limbo until July 1987 when Pellicci and Shorrock returned at the request of Irving Azoff, the head of MCA Records, who wanted the band on his label.[52] The reformed group signed new management with Geoffrey Schuhkraft and Paul Palmer, who assisted the line-up of Goble, Housden, Nelson, Pellicci and Shorrock in establishing a holding company, We Two Pty. Ltd, with all members as directors in equal share.[44][53] Former manager Glenn Wheatley signed away rights to the band's name to the new company on 12 May 1988.[54][55][56]
In July 1988, Pellicci described the group's previous two albums: "It was an overstatement to say the response to No Reins and Playing to Win was lukewarm - there was no response at all."[57] The revamped group with keyboardist James Roche[58] (Jamie Paddle)[59] performed at the opening of World Expo 88 in Brisbane on 30 April. They were joined by the Eagles' Glenn Frey, who also accompanied them that year on tour.[60]
The group released their tenth studio album, Monsoon, in May 1988, which peaked at No. 9 on the Kent Music Report.[18] It was co-produced by Boylan and Goble.[3] The Canberra Times' Lisa Wallace was disappointed by its lack of innovation despite showing technical skills.[61] Its lead single, "Love Is a Bridge", co-written by Goble and Housden was released in April and peaked at No. 7 on the Kent Music Report.[18] It was their second highest charting single in the Australian market,[2] and a moderate Adult Contemporary radio hit in the US.
In 1989 the group recorded "Listen to Your Heart", written by Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg, for the film soundtrack of The Karate Kid Part III.[citation needed]
The eleventh studio album, Get Lucky, was released in April 1990. It was their last charting album in Australia and made the top 60.[62] Mike Boehm of the Los Angeles Times caught their gig in May, where "[Shorrock] was stiff and seemed stuck for words between songs. But he knew what to do when the music started, singing in a comfortably husky voice that resembled Phil Collins in tone and easy pop appeal. [Nelson], the group's Californian, generated more heat in his two lead vocal turns. The three-part harmonies behind Shorrock were exemplary, although the Crosby, Stills & Nash parallels were unmistakable. Lead guitarist [Housden] reinforced the emphasis on melody with his clean, lyrical lines."[63]
MCA released a compilation album, Worldwide Love, of tracks from the previous two LPs on their Curb Records imprint in June 1991. Both Get Lucky and Worldwide Love peaked in the top 40 on the Swiss Hitparade;[64] with the latter also appearing on the Ö3 Austria Top 40.[65] Goble had ceased touring with the group in 1989 and left altogether by 1992,[2] as well as resigning from We Two.[66] Peter Beckett (ex-Player) joined in 1989 to take Goble's place. The group went through a series of keyboard players, including Tony Sciuto (1990-1992, 1993-1997) and Richard Bryant (1992-1993, ex-the Doobie Brothers).[3]
In September 1992, Nelson's daughter was killed in a traffic collision in San Diego while he was on tour with the band in Europe.[67] Nelson immediately returned home and Hal Tupaea substituted on bass guitar for the New Zealand dates of the band's tour in November 1993.[3][68][69]: 200-201  Little River Band subsequently took a break until Nelson's return in 1994 and embarked on a four-and-a-half month 20th anniversary US tour in 1995.[69]: 211-212 [68]
Shorrock left again in 1996: he was offered the option to buy out the remaining members of We Two Pty. Ltd.[70] He took a one-third share of the monetary value of the company as he did not want to commit to the band's US touring schedule. Shorrock was replaced on lead vocals by Melbourne singer Steve Wade (ex-Dolphin Street).[2][3] Nelson also left in 1996 and Tupaea returned on bass guitar.[3] This line-up lasted until late 1997, when everyone, except Housden and Wade, started to leave, including Pellicci, who left again that December.[2][3][4] The departure of all original directors left Housden as the sole owner of We Two Pty Ltd and the Little River Band's name and trademarks.

I have been watching your reactions for a while now and I love the way you want to concentrate on the music rather than watching a video (even though there are some great videos that need to be seen, especially live versions) but watching your excitement and enthusiasm to listen to essentially what is often close to my record collection, my youth, my life, almost brings a tear on how much you are getting to know and appreciate fantastic music from the 60s, 70's and 80's. Not that there hasn't been great music from to 90's until now, just not enough of it to stop me needing to go back to the music of my youth. Watching you two is like watching two kids in a candy store as there are so many yummy choices you hardly know where to start because you want to try all the good ones. Enjoy the ride because it's a long way there to where you're going before you've had your fill.
