Aesop really has an amazing way of painting a picture but can sound word heavy because of his vocabulary. Definitely a great artist though that has been navigating the underground scene for a loooong time

is a reference to a series if children's books by Erin Hunter, called Warriors. the books focus on 4 'clans' (Thunder Clan, River Clan, Wind Clan, and Sky Clan) of feral cats that live by a set of laws called the Warrior Code, and live in a shamanic society that worships their ancestors in Star Clan. i always assumed he was familiar with the books because perhaps his daughter was reading them.
i LOVE Aes, like, actually, and i thought i couldnt love him more........... and THEN he referenced the Warriors, books i've loved FOREVER, lol. you can imagine my reaction.

Man you are one of the only reasons I even watch music on UA-cam. You are brilliant and you can actually loosely explain what Aesop is saying. When you understand it is lightning fast and it sounds like jibberish to other folks. You explain a lot of his tracks so well and truly appreciate his undertones.

I believe the character Azazel you're thinking of is from X-Men, in come continuities he is Nightcrawler's father and he's some weird demon guy who pretty much resembles an older red (or pinkish-red sometimes) version of Nightcrawler. If my memory holds up correct he was a part of the villian team in the film X-Men First Class
He himself is actually based on a demon/evil spirit in Jewish theology, Aesop was raised jewish iirc

I've listened to this song a million times and it just hit me that he named the cat after Jack Kirby and not the video game character, lol.
Also the "Heroes of tomorrow" line referring to how he's buying the animal for theraputic reasons so he's viewing it as something that's potentially going to save him from something, in a psychological sense.. But of course you don't learn that until later in the song so (like a lot of his lyrics) you wont get it on your first listen.
I thought he was talking about DJ cold in that bar. Seriously if you look back in time you will see that your Aes Rizzle reviews are the reason why I watch you. Great job breaking the bars down my man!!!

cats always land on their feet when THEY FALL MEDIUM to LONG DISTANCES (this is a key fact).
While, I’ve also had your interpretation of “found god in the hamper” as Aes revering his cat. I’ve come to believe it as the cat found god in the hamper. Like the hamper is the kitten’s heaven or favorite place to hang out
Edit: so I don’t think you reactors ever listen to full albums but this song comes in a bit of a series in the album Get Out The Car, Shrunk, and Kirby. Where it starts with Aes in a car convincing himself he needs help, going to a shrink despite the fact he hates every moment of it and then Kirby where it shows him following some advice from said shrink.
This also follows a pattern with the 3 albums Skelethon, Impossible Kid, and Spirit World Field Guide. Skelethon for the most part thematically follows Aesop dealing with death MOSTLY but not completely in regard to his friend Camu Tao. If you know a few things about Camu you’ll pick up very small hints of it throughout the album. Impossible Kid is Aesop finally coming to terms and understanding he can’t stay depressed there is a lot to do in the album about time and moving on and is kind of about a guy starting the first steps to recovery. Spirit World Field Guide is about a guy who understands he is maybe a bit worn a damaged physically and emotionally but is still trying to live the best life he can. So it’s kinda like the happily ever after of the albums. The whole thing is kinda cool to sit down and listen to especially when done from 2012 to now. Okay, sorry. Rant over
