      Ok, so. I feel that Organs is an important song if that makes sense. Promoting the absolute life changing/ saving action that is donating an organ (be them alive or dead (the donor)) to another human so that they may live a better life is tear jerking for me. Like the amount of good that comes from that is immense

    I could quite literally sit and listen to/watch you break down Aes songs, and songs from his other projects like Hail Mary Mallon, or The Uncluded, all damn day
    Your knowledge, taste, experience, and appreciation for music and so many other things makes for the perfect storm for some of the best reactions on UA-cam. Let alone being almost perfect for Aesop Rock as well

    I dig your intro man. And I really dig Aesop Rock content. Every single song he has released I have deeply enjoyed. He's a cool Long--Islander. His early flow is so fast. It's like he throws a boomerang and raps and spins his lyrics with rhyme and dual meaning. He is part of "Rhymesayers" label and everyone on that label share crazy beats and rap. We have good rappers here in Minnesota.

    You asking if the Journey and experiences of it is greater than the arrival at the end point made me think back to the classic book "Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance" which is an indirect look at that exact question :)
    This is really early Aesop, just shows he started his journey in HipHop second to none and just got better as he went on :) Shame that the need to think about what he says puts him outside the greater fame he deserves

    I always tell people to look at Aes's rap style as the Alan Ginsberg of hip hop and rap.

    Let this sink in: these lyrics were written almost 25 years ago. Dude is unparalleled IMO

    Polaris is a star in the northern circumpolar constellation of Ursa Minor. It is designated α Ursae Minoris and is commonly called the ***NORTH STAR*** or Pole Star. With an apparent magnitude that fluctuates around 1.98, it is the **BRIGHTEST** star in the constellation and is readily visible to the naked eye at night.

    Back in 2008 my wife started referring to Aesop as the Shakespeare of hip-hop.

    • @ju4408
      @ju4408 2 роки тому

      Shakespeare is pretty straightforward. I think more of Aleister Crowley's "The Book of Lies". Surface meanings, underlying metaphors connecting to other metaphors, puzzles and riddles. Each piece you put together informs the rest more and more, until you're thinking in imagery and relations between metaphors instead of just the words themselves. Or like James Joyce's "Finnegans Wake", but English only instead of smashing 20 languages together.

    if only 1 song could ever be created, i'd vote for this 1. he does exponentional(power a number/expression is to be raised) entendres,.line i quote most is 'i dig my toes into the sand & spit foilage out my lips' ..to me it's him saying he can create life/beauty/meaning in places it didn't seem possible places where it shouldn't be...GALAPAGOS STYLE, life overflowing out of volcanic ash

    An easy way of interperting aesop rock is assuming he is talking to other aspiring rapers or his interpretations of the rap game. Common trope in 90s rap was to shed light on the currect rap game and aesop does this perfectly hidden in cryptic lyrics. The "From out the mugs of masons wasted
    / Laying bricks for days to later find they own the lot adjacent" bar is a perfect example of him refering to rappers wasting their talents on dead lanes in the rap game.

    • @LokeyeMC
      @LokeyeMC 2 роки тому

      Absolutely, I also love the double entendre for "out the mugs of masons wasted" as drinking an alcoholic beverage out of a mason jar and getting wasted, at least my friends and I were doing that when this album was made, rapping wasted over outkast instrumentals but not building off our own unique foundation, especially while wasted.
