Thank you so much for this! I was surprised that the Sigma adapter only supports Sigma lenses so I went to buy the Metabones adapter... only to be shocked that they don't make one! So I just ordered this for my S5 (cost $109USD shipped to NY.) Primarily for aperture control and lens metadata in Lightroom because I only use manual focus Canon lenses. FYI Metabones does make a Canon FD / FL lens to L mount adapter that costs $99.
AFter watching the video I bought the commlite. Be warned: DO NOT get the commlite adapter - it's absolute trash! The tolerance between units is huge, I ordered 3 and all of the did not properly fit on the camera mount and/or the lens gasket. A fellow photographer bought the unit as well and it actually damaged his camera permanently. Autofocus is 100% unusable and the connection between camera and adapter was so loose on my units the electrical connection was lost as soon as I used larger (not cine or telezoom) lenses and moved slightly. It is cheaper and it is so for a reason: It's crap. The sigma does force crop (which you can circumvent by shortly disconnecting lens and adapter while the camera is on) but it's a tight fit and it works apart from AFC, which doesn't work on any adapter (and is unusable in video on the S5 anyway). Still, thank your for the well put together video - but I guess you have to be very lucky with the unit you get delivered, not putting any blame on Lumin Gate Visuals.
Thank you for the heads up, I have the Sigma but was wondering if the Commlite had better autofocus. Seems like this guy's experience is the exception rather than the rule.
I have been using this Commlite adapter for the last 4 months. This works very good, autofocus and continuous autofocus with most of my Canon EF lenses , not all ,but doesn't work with my Tamron 24-70 ( canon ) lens

I guess Sigma decided not to support CAF because they weren't able to make it work well. And not being able to force APS-C to full frame is a problem caused by Panasonic, since one could easily have a toggle in the settings for that. So the only thing Sigma probably should be embarrassed about is that the AF generally doesn't work as well.
Hi, how tight does the adapter sit on the camera? I got mine yesterday and it has some play that annoys me. I am not sure though if it is normal since nobody really talks about that. I hope that mine is defective since I also can't make the autofocus (AF-S and AF-C) work on my 18-35. thanks :)
@@bmwm3man I picked one up about 2 months ago as well. I've really enjoyed mine and the autofocus for my usage works perfectly fine with the right settings and lenses. I came from canon and its nowhere near as reliable as dual-pixel but unless you're primarily filming yourself the autofocus has been surprisingly good. For stills the camera has been great as well as long as you're not shooting super high speed stuff like sports or flying birds(which im not).
There is the Viltrox EF-L Auto Focus . with usb port for firmware update. Im waiting for my S5. But for my gh5 the Viltrox adapter turns to be better and it was 200 $ instead ot the speedbooster (600 $) It the best adapter for EF to M4/3 specially with the update firmwre. I don't understand why sigma didnt put a usb or something to update for such an expensive adapter. So i don't see any video about Viltrox EF-L Auto Focus , and i know that the Viltrox EF- M4/3 EF-MII was a really good and solid for the price. so i'm like waiting to have comparison with comlite & Viltrox EF-L Auto Focus

I have a pressing question: Does the Lumix S5 focus bracketing work with the Sigma MC 21 adapter or with any of the adapter you have? I want to use the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens with the S5, but I was told it will disable the focus bracketing. Focus bracketing is a must-have for me. Could you please check it?

Is not the Lumix S5 contrast detection auto focus which results often in pulsing and breathing even with just a native lens ? Ive just purchased the Lumix S5 MK2 with the new hybrid autofocus system which is fantastic for continual focus and fixed the pulsing etc on previous models. Im looking for an adapter and wonder if the commlite might be much better with the new auto focus system ? anyone tried it on a S5 MK2?
Mate. Good review. But know this. The original s5 is contrast. There will be hunting nomatter what. With s52 or s52x its pashe detect af. No more hunting and afc works in foto and video including fast tracking.
DON'T BUY IT AFTER A MONTH OF USE IT STOPPED WORKED WAS NO LONGER COMMUNICATING WITH THE LENS I WAS USING.. ALSO IT BROKE MY LENS FIXING THE APERTURE AT 2.8

Depends what your trying to adapt. I don’t think the SA one is for an ef mount. I think that’s an old SIgma lens mount
