- The Lumix S5 is one of the best cameras I have ever used BUT I wanted to see what the Canon R5C was like in comparison for video! So I captured some test footage and compared these two awesome cameras, and this is what I think...

Which one is right for you??? 🎥🎥 (Also... I'm sorry for the Canon wobble)
the S1h is better.
Hi Sam, as in the last comparison with the A7s III, I‘m really suprised to hear that the R5c is less sharp than the camera you are comparing it to. This doesn‘t match my experience at all and I‘m starting to think it might have to to with that old EF 16-35 you were using. I don‘t think that I have to tell you how much sharper the native RF glass is and that it might be needed to unlock the full potential. I tried to pair the S5 of a friend with the R5c two weeks ago for an documentary of an orchestra and it was just a horrible experience due to the Panasonics’ limitations. We used the R5c with the RF 15-35, 50 1.2 and 85 1.2 while the Panasonic had the 20-60 on it as well as the Sigma 85 1.4. Everything was shot in 4k and the Canon was just way sharper due to its oversampled image from 8k. I didn‘t know that much about the S5 before and thought it is a great video camera, because it is hyped so much everywhere but there were key aspects, which really annoyed me: the crop in 4k60 rendered the 85 pretty much unusable for the shots I planned with it and I did not have extra lenses for shooting in cropped mode. The autofocus was just terrible compared to the R5c and I also discovered that „unlimited“ recording only applies for 8-bit, which meant that recording the complete concert in the end was only possible in 8 bit 4:2:0. That is a huge step down from the 10-bit 4:2:2 the Canon provided. The stage had dark areas that startet to show banding, when you pushed the shadows a bit, so I had quite a hard time matching them in post. Yes, the Canon uses a lot of power, but thats a non-issue since I‘m using the Anker Powebank in the rig anyways. So coming from a truly „limitless“ camera, which can do every file format full frame in every framerate for as long as your 2TB CFexpress card has space, the S5 is just a huge step down.
@@patrick.munich yes the s1h would be more of a direct competitor to the r5c. You do trade sharpness (R5C) for some dynamic range (S1H). I had great luck matching canon to panny using davinci color management. I do despise the 4k60 crop on my panasonic. Really hurts my workflow.
@@jessecumberledge4530 yeah I‘m with you on that, then again I‘m also doing a lot of photos and the 45 MP with Dual Pixel AF II and 20 fps in combination with my RF 85 1.2 would probably blow away the S1H in that regard. For me the Canon is a much better „hybrid“, since there are almost no compromises on the photo side of things.
I managed to guess which one was which. But I actually preferred B. Great vid Sam!
The image stabilization gave away the camera a and camera b comparison in the beginning haha. Thanks for the great content. Had my S5 for 3 weeks and I'm so glad I bought it. Great upgrade from my G7
Congrats! Any advice with the S5? Mine it's coming brand new next week to me!
Thanks Oz 🎥🤩
@@flaviopresutti Definitely check out Sam's setup video guide for video! I went through that and I'm pretty comfortable with the UI and settings, and it's pretty much prepares you to start shooting right away. Good luck!
🤩🎥🙏🏻
@@OzTalksHW Thanks. As soon as I have it un My hands I will watch the videos again. I'm going to spend many hours preparing and testing it! Greetings from Uruguay
I'm very surprised to see the the Lumix, a sub €2000,- camera has a more cinematic looking image than the actual cinema camera. Colours and dynamic range look more organic, making the R5c look like a regular DSLR imo.
The S5 I think is the best value for money camera you can buy 🤩🙏🏻🎥
I’m really enjoying your S5 videos! Love to see what’s possible with an entry level camera.
Thanks Jake. Plenty more S5 content to come very soon 🙏🏻🤩🎥
The S5 is an absolute beast of a camera! And v-log is incredible BTW
Very interesting video! Thanks Sam
Thanks Chad
Knew that you were going to make this 😂 I have both so I'm happy with them 😁 Best dual camera setup for my workflow 👍🏼
Great comparison here Sam. I love my S5 but there are lots of features from the R5C I would like to see in Panasonic's line up. Definitely some food for thought. Already waiting for your next video 🙂
Thanks James 🤩🙏🏻🎥 next video is on the way very soon
Great video my brother, I'm very happy with my lumix s5, great stabilization and images 👍
Thank you. Great camera 🤩🎥
Thank you so much Sam for comparing the S5 with various cameras. I particularly enjoyed the the video you compared it with Sony a7s3. I just recently got the lumix s5. Your videos really helped me in making the decision.
My name is Solomon, I'm writing from Nigeria.
Hey Solomon. So pleased the videos helped with your decision. What a great camera! 🤩🎥 thanks for watching. Stay tuned 💪🏻
Great video Sam.
I've just ordered my R5C yesterday with 3 RF lenses: 15-35mm 2.8 L, 50mm 1.2 L & 70-200mm 2.8 L . I'm doing both photos & video jobs.
Nice! 🤩👌🏻🎥 that’s exciting!!
How are you liking the R5c?
This video was great. I just ordered an S5 and this was super reassuring.
Thanks Jason. Glad this helped 🤩🙏🏻🎥 enjoy your new camera.
After lots of research finally I got my first camera which is Lumix S1 bought it for around $1500 brand new. Thank you Sam
Nice! 🤩🎉🎥
You've been incredibility helpful. I'm a life long canon user about to upgrade and looking at all the options. What do you think about the R5C vs Fujifilm X-H2S? Is a cropped sensor worse image quality? Loving all your videos. Very clear & you explain your reasons so we can decide what's best for us.
Thats is so beautiful mate...
Thank you Marvin 🤩🙏🏻🎥
I love my S5 and when you shoot prores raw, it is other worldly!
I sold my S5 and went for A7SIII - i was totally upset with S5's autofocus. Yeah, yeah - be better videographer, etc. But I heavily rely on autofocus. A7SIII focuses instantly, but the image quality is way below S5.
@@fredriksvard2603 is the 24-105 definitely much better than the 20-60
So glad to watch this. The R5C looks like a very good hybrid camera and probably edges out the S5 for autofocus, but the new S5 II is a lot better than the S5's AF, and the video quality of the S5 is better overall. The video quality of the S5 is superb, and it's surprising how far we have come with delivering a very high quality image that is fit for broadcast and theatre screening.
Excellent, informative video. The S5 is superior.
I know you mentioned cost but it’s crazy that you can get 2 x S5 bodies, a 20-60 f3.5-5.6, a 35 f1.8 and an 85 f1.8 for less than the cost of the R5c body.
Oh and it’s still got a micro HDMI 😉
Thanks David! Yeh the micro HDMI thing isn’t great 😩😂🎥
B is my favorite, it's organic, film-like, with better dynamic range.
That S5 blows me away every time! Seems a no brainer with the cost as well!
Yeh man it really is an incredible camera 🤩🙏🏻🎥
Watched some of your reviews. Nice work. Considering the S5 camera but all my glass is canon L series. What you think? Got any experience with using EF lenses? I am guessing you can kiss goodbye to auto focus…. This is my conundrum as I would like to use my beloved canon glass (and save myself a few quid along the way)
Really enjoyed the video. I’m on a LUMIX S1 and have been since it came out in early 2019. I’ve gotten the camera itch pretty bad lately and have been looking at the R5C. I just can’t get over how the LUMIX looks though. I’m just hoping they come out with some new bodies soon. Plus I’ve got too much L mount glass now to go anywhere lol.
Thank you 🙏🏻 yeh I’m looking for the upgrade to the S5!! I hope it’s soon. The R5C is impressive. Just the battery life let’s it down
What settings do you use for vlog like shoots with the r5c? All manual?
Hi Maarten. Yeh all manual mode. I have a video coming next week on how to setup the R5C if that will help 🙏🏻🎥🤩 thanks for watching
Cheers for doing this Sam. I have a Canon C70 as a main camera at the moment and absolutely love it (I’m video only and for some stuff I prefer the ND’s, battery, extra buttons etc), when the R5c was announced I was in the market for a second camera so pre-ordered it. As I was waiting for it I started to wonder if it’s just too expensive for a camera I’ll only use as a b-cam, and after some research ended up cancelling it and getting an S5. I use the cinematch plugin to match them and I’ve been so impressed with the S5. Such incredible value for money.
Thanks Liam. Yeah it’s amazing for the price. The R5C needs to be like a C70 but with full frame. I’d probably get one then
How do you like the S5 compared to your C70 in therms of image?
I much prefer the image of the S5 all day long. And the colours are so much easier to grade too. R5C was a lot better than the C70 in my opinion when it came to image. Probably the cropped sensor too. 🎥
@@SamHolland Strange, C70 is Canon's best sensor since it is the same as in the C300 mark 3 which has a DGO sensor and supposedly the best DR.
@@Aviciiz The C70 supports Clog2, which has greater dynamic range than Clog3, which is why they don’t put it in the R5c as the sensor has less dynamic range (this comes from a Canon rep). Still, it is subjective at best when used for web content. Personally I would take a C70 over the S5 or R5c any day just because it has professional level battery life without add ons, built in ND’s, better dynamic range, more assignable buttons, and built in mini-XLR’s for multiple audio inputs. It’s not as sharp as the S5 or R5C though, I would call the image ‘organic’ instead. Personally I love it, but a lot of people producing web content don’t need all that stuff though and can get by without it. The S5 I think is an absolute bargain and if you need to upgrade at some point, then there we go you’ll upgrade.
The ibis gave it away, camera A is the r5c, and I did prefer the image off it, and only by a tiny margin in a side by side comparison! Amazing job by panasonic.
Well done: a very engaging comparison. Both look great. But the price difference is indeed a big point of differentiation for the s5. It would be great if you could get the GH6 back to do a comparison with the R5c!
Cheers.
Thanks Luke! Yeh that would be a fun one 🤩🎥
Enjoying the videos! Btw the S5 does have 10 bit in 50/60p (just 420 not 422). There is no difference when grading to my eye at all.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
@@SamHolland s5 has 10 bit 4K 60. It goes to 8 bit in c4k 60
I've always been a Canon guy, since 1983. I just recently purchased the S5. I really like it so far, but doubt I'll switch because of the expensive. I'm glad I can use all my Canon EF lenses on the S% with adapter!
i love my S5, and this is coming from Canon.i just love the image i get from the S5, and its support for anamorphic lenses is just perfect (i primarily shoot with my Sirui 50mm FF, and am patiently waiting for the 75mm FF i just ordered). I think just the ease of use of the S5, and not just easy to get an image, but to get a good image just makes this camera more fun to play with, and as I am a total hobbyist, it has to be all about the fun!
So true. Always about the fun! 💪🏻🎥 ah I would love to try the Sirui one day. Thanks for watching
A was my favorite image. The skin tones looked better imo. That said the Panasonic is a heck of a camera. I can’t wait to see what Panasonic will bring for the S1H Mk2.
In the last year I've used the Canon R5 and the R5 C extensively, and I own a Panasonic S1 (same sensor as the S5). There's some things about the Canon's that can sometimes make life easier (mainly autofocus), but otherwise I much prefer the image and features of my S1. I really want to see what the next gen of Panasonic's S series looks like, and how they compete with Canon and Sony's current lineup. If they can keep the excellent dynamic range, speed up the sensor readout for less rolling shutter and full-frame 4k60, and switch to phase detect autofocus, the S1 MkII would be close to perfect IMO
Just a little correction, the S5 does shoot in C4k 50p 10 bit 420, not 8 bit, which is great, the con is just the crop, which is annoying and it makes the image noisier, but other than that it does look great. Good video man !
No crop on the R5c up to 4K 120p with sound.
Seriously considering switching to the Lumix s5iix from the canon R6. I've been binge watching all your videos! great content :)
Thank you 🤩🙏🏻🎥
good question Sam. R5c is more cine geared kit, S5 is sort of hybrid. informative comparison.
So for what it is worth here is my view the detail is better on A (which is the R5c due to the wobble 😁😁) B is softer and to be honest I prefer it even though I am Canon as you know - great video buddy and the price difference also makes the S5 a winner !
Thanks man! 🤩🎥🙏🏻
I liked the A cam better because of the better contrast but the B seemed to have a bit more dynamic range in the highlights. I'm looking forward to the reveal!
Thank you! 🤩🙏🏻🎥
watching this video, but once I realize that I made the right choice buying the lumix s5 a year ago, this camera is my favorite, it works so well with the kit lens for both photos and videos, I recently got the lumix 35mm 1.8 lens and I'm getting even more sharp in the photos and videos, finally the panasonic just needs to adjust the auto focus a little and this camera will be the best full frame in the world for the price.
True! 🤩 thanks for watching 🙏🏻🎥
The S5 has better highlight rolloff, but the rc5 has a fantastic image as well. So at this point it comes down what you prefer. Actual quality is not much of an issue.
Did the R5C dirty in the opening sequence with that earthquake footage lol. Panasonic's S series are incredibly special.
I shoot on the R5C, R5 and Blackmagic 6K. Shooting on the canon is more easier but I like the image quality more on the blackmagic.
Sam great video. Which lenses do you recommend for the Lumix S5?
Thank you 🙏🏻 hopefully these two videos will help ua-cam.com/video/XAMZx0vbNYU/v-deo.html
And ua-cam.com/video/_4UAqVYfWLg/v-deo.html

I am currently in this debacle myself....😊 I'm shooting on a Panasonic GH5 and I really am enticed by the Canon R5C. They both are tempting
get the s5ii you also get 6k internally !
Camera B is my favorite but almost identical. Cab B was a wee but softer/more cinematic and less jittery in stabilization
🎥👌🏻
The Panasonic looks like it has a bit of an HDR effect. Did you try pulling the highlights down on the Canon and seeing if the details is there.
Nice comparison. 2:55 something about the backlit clouds looks artifical to my eye. It could just be this macbook monitor though. The DR, stabilization and price still makes the S5 a serious camera.
Hey Sam, I'm getting "Media Offline" in DaVinci Resolve 18.6 for Mac Ventura OS. There's audio but no video. Filmed on a Lumix S5 in 10bit 422 MOV @ 25p. Any advice on how to fix this? Thanks - B
Great video! However my only thought is that it would be useful for us in the audience if you disclose what bitrates and codecs you used. Owning both the S5 and A7SIII those cameras preform wildly different depending on codecs and bitrates, not to mention RAW on the Sony.
Which one do you prefer?
@@NVIK5 Sony, especially when shooting prores RAW.
Hey Sam, i have three canon eos r and two r6 for wedding video and photo. also a canon gx10 as a safety net. im looking at the lumix s5 ii as i have heard it blows canon out of the water? i still love the image from the eos r ands have rf lenses. will i get much more from the lumix or is the s1h better. steve
This video is so convincing to me.
The main thing which impresses me is the stability of the image. The micro jitters of the R5C are so horrendous that it turns my stomach. An absolute no-no for me.
Thank you for the comparison, Sam. I've learned a lot today.
Cheers, Mario. Both great cameras in their own way. Thanks for watching and commenting 🤩🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland Nice hit piece on the R5c. The R5c does not have micro jitters. Nice of you to clear that up in the comment section. One is without IS and the other with IS. Micro jitters come into play from IS or IBIS that can't handle small movement or no movement correctly. You would be better off giving an accurate comparison and taking this one down.
Right now using G7 planning to upgrade which one would be best G9 or S5. I am doing 360 photography only. please let me know thanks
I sold my C200 3900€ and EOS R + 24-70 EF. I bought an S5 used, Sigma 24-70, ninja V used, Gh5 with sigma 18-35 and a nikon Z6 with kit lens. I don't regret my decision at all. By the way, the 4k 8bits is way better on the panas and nikon than on the C200. 4k was ok on the EOS R but with a 1.7 crop...Thanks for your videos Sam, and for showing that the brand new hype gear is not always the gear you need.
Thank you! 🤩🙏🏻🎥
Interesting, I almost bought a C200 but went for the S5 because of the 10bit. 8bit wasn’t cutting it and raw was just too much for my work
Sam, do you know if Sigma 28-70 2.8 has better AF in a video than Sigma 24-70 2.8? Any chance you can test Sigma L-mount lenses?
I thought the skin tones and colors of Camera A were better, with a little more dynamic range. I also think it is the S5. Currently waiting on my S5 to be delivered (with your channel as a big help in that decision) so let's see if I'm right....
EDIT: NOPE! You did a good job grading both to look the same. Still looking forward to my S5 anyways!
Nice one Corey. Good on ya for not cheating and being honest even though you’ve gone for the S5 🙏🏻 it does show you how good the S5 image and colours are to be able to get so close. With a few more tweaks you could probably get exactly the same to be fair. Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy your S5 🤩🙏🏻🎥
I definitely like the color spectrum on the lumix. That’s how I could tell
Great video, although the point of the R5c is that it shoots 8k internally.
Editing 8k on a 4k timeline gives cropping options not offered by the s5.
Also I'm interested in why you chose the S5 over the S1? The S1 has better viewfinder, better weather sealing, better ibis and a full size hdmi, and is cheaper!!!
Thanks for the test!) Look 0:43 at the grey wall on the right screen... The wall is green!)))
Another outstanding comparison bro. The S5 seems a real bang-for-buck hero. Have you got hands on with a Sony A7iv? I'm looking for a predominantly video camera without spending A7siii money
Thanks Owen 🙏🏻 I’d love to try one of those. I’ll keep you updated if I manage to get hold of one. Thanks for watching 🎥🤩
If you’re video centric, don’t bother with the A7 IV. I rented it and the rolling shutter performance and IBIS (or rather its poor performance) were instant deal breakers for me.
Wow that difference in stabilisation is really noticeable. I prefer the Panasonic’s lifted mid tones too.
I think in the past Canon colours were a real advantage however that’s not the case anymore and in other areas such as dynamic range they really are still lacking.
So true! 👌🏻🎥
Would love to know how the af performs,as one of the perks of owning a Canon is definitely their Dual pixel Af ...
Been a R5/R6 user for long considering upgrading to the R5c but this looks quite tempting..
There’s no comparison with the two. Canons have always been spot on 👌🏻🤩🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland Yes ,nothing like canon for run and gun and wedding related stuff .. Apart from image quality ,sometimes just knowing that you got one thing less to focus on (pun intended) makes it a value proposition..
The Canon is softer and had a red cast in most of the footage here, I would've love if you removed some of that red but still another exceptional video🙌
The Wobby gave it away, curious which Lens you used on the R5C? if it had IS or did you have Digital IS turned off
No IS on the lens on the R5C unfortunately.
@@SamHolland @Sam Holland Did you use digital IS? Tryna figure out if I should avoid using non IS lens completely when handheld
Too bad Panasonic AF is what it is -- really limits S5 and SH1. I had both, but prefer an actual cinecam if going to manually rack focus. No internal RAW for S5, and I only shoot RAW when cannot control lighting (e.g., outdoors) or in fluid situations where it is impractical to set WB. You obviously weren't shooting RAW video with the Canon in this video.
Ignoring AF and lack of internal RAW, S5 otherwise holds its own against R5C if don't need the 8K and faster frame rates for more creative possibilities. For you're style of shooting (in this video anyway, handheld, vlog style), I think better off with an R5. R5C is not optimized/intended for this style of shooting. The R5 will give you the IBIS and address the wobble issue (or, w/ R5C you can stabilize in post if shoot at 6K or 8K and still have more rez than the S5). Most cinematographers (the target audience for R5C) don't want IBIS because it's a stills feature that fixes one problem and creates other problems that are difficult to workaround when shooting video. R5C is a cinecam that happens to also be a fantastic stills camera with uncompromising IQ.
Nottingham!! Good comparison!
Thank you! 🙏🏻🎥🤩
Great video, I had ordered the r5c but in the meantime I bought the lumix s5 and I cancelled the order for the r5c and I don't regret it at all. I had a Sony A7s III and I like the colors on the lumix much better. My main camera is a RED komodo and from the lumix I can get an image that is most similar in character to the RED colours in my eyes.
I also shoot komodo and I have the s1h. Thought about swapping the s1h to the r5c but not sure now haha 😅
@@bradleykussy Do you trust this video? All his sample videos have been tweaked and he is biased to the S5.
Dude - Did you really cancel your order because of this video? If you have a Komodo and think the S5 is comparable then you need to sell that Komodo.
@@contentm3893 I'm selling the S1H to invest in a Raptor kit to pair with my Komodo as I'm getting alot more narrative work.
I'd keep my S1H over the R5C though.
@@bradleykussy NICE. Why would you keep the S1H over the R5c when you can use EF and RF glass on the RED's? I like the S1H by the way. It doesn't have the higher frame rates as like the R5c.
I don't have the S5 but I have the S1H. Have been a Panasonic fan for year and love the image straight out of the camera. I shoot in the Natural picture profile when Ifeeling lazy ;-) Great comparison!

@@SamHolland Indeed it is!
HI LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MAN KEEP IT UP. AT 3:32 WHAT LENSE WAS USED?
ALSO 5:27, THANKS :)
I think it was the Sony 85mm on the A7siii. Thank you 🙏🏻🤩🎥
@@SamHolland 🙏🙏🙏
One area you missed was the auto focus - was it better on the canon?
I think you have more options codecs and frame rates on 5C and raw internal and external, so it depends how your workflow is... Besides the price tag...
you can get external raw on the S5 in prores or BRAW and imo that's a better investment since if you're taking videography seriously you will want a proper monitor and external recorders work with many other cameras. the R5C price tag is way too high when considering you're very close to true budget cine camera category
would be nice to see how you color matched those 2 log profiles :)
Good idea. I’ll work on that video 🤩🎥🙏🏻
@@SamHolland your findings will be really interesting mate

Looks like even more dynamic range with S5.
I love your LUT!!! Please sell us the lut!!

It was hard for me to tell the difference, after youtube got through with it. For me, stabilization and battery life are most important when I want to go light (which is most the time), so the S5 is still king. The lower price does not hurt.
Please compare with eos r5c raw in clog 2 dynamic range .
I liked A a tad more, the highlights looked softer and I think the colors were slightly better. But overall neither ran away from the other.
Please do video R5C vs lumix s5II!
Which lense did you use on the s5?
Bro as soon as I saw the difference in steadiness it was over LOL
You take the shots with adapter ring to EF mount and use 16-35.
But actually one of the best feature on the R mirrorless ecosystem is the whole new RF glass! Its much sharper than the EF older sisters..
The glass sit much closer to the sensor, and it makes the great canon EF lenses looks blurry next to them.. especially when you zooming into the small details.
The R5C doing a downsample to the picture from the Full frame 8K sensor in almost every mode- that alone makes the picture must looks much sharper in almost every compassion..
And about the color:
Did you test the R5C new RAW 12 bit LT files?
12bit 4:2:2 -because it’s should be an absolutely HUGE thing for video editors who likes to play with color correction in post.
And one of best features on the all new canons sensors it’s the AMAZING Dual pixel Auto focus system..
If you are a video creator, and work alone it’s a game changer! You can trust that system and let you focus in the directing process..
And last- about the IS.. you can choose two modes for digital IS, that works very well, especially with the support RF Lenses with IS when it used their coordinates to correct the motion..
And remember that sensor with IS in a professional Cinema cameras can be bad for video working..
Makes soft corners when the sensor moves..
Filmmakers always use dedicated gears to stabilizing camera movements.
Great info buddy. Thanks. I Just bought R5c with 3 RF lenses.
blows my mind that a 5k camera is not much greater than a s5 .
The R5c can shoot 8k internally.
Comparing its 8k sensor to a 4k sensor in 4k mode isn't really what the R5c is about. If you compare the best output that both can offer, the results might be different.
It'd a bit like saying my ford focus is better that a Farrari if we limit both to 50mph !
@@50450720
You wont see much difference unless you punch in or have an 8k monitor, frankly, in what world do you even need 8k?
Even cinema still shoots mostly in 4k DCI
@@SMGJohn that's like saying you don't need 4k if you only have a 1080 monitor,
I had the exact same debate when 4k came out..
8k tv's are here and getting cheaper. But the real advantage of 8k is in the ability to crop on a 4k timeliness. For someone who shoots a lot of head and shoulder interviews this is a real bonus. It gives me a optional punch in with no loss of quality.
@@50450720
4k made sense for cropping or down sampling the footage to 1080p.
You can debate all you want, reality does not give a flying shit about your debate, majority of media consumed are 1080p, most people on Netflix are unwilling to pay extra just to watch UHD.
I am not sure what your argument even is, I am a realist I stick to reality, if consumed media is 1080p and majority of cinema are still 2k DCI, then whats the freaking point of 8k?
Like I said, unless you do real cinema work, 8k is overkill, I really doubt YOU need 8k unless you are in the film branch, because 8k is not a standard you use for television.
8k TV is just a bragging right and for manufacturers to keep selling you televisions, they need new and bigger numbers, until 16k is here, 8k would be outdated in your mind. What then?
The fact that 1080p is still the most watched format on the planet is laughable when you are talking about how 8k is useful, its a niche market for niche people.
@@SMGJohn there must be a hell of a lot of niche creaters out there when Nikons latest 8k camera (z9) has already out sold their own forecasts and now has a 12 month waiting list.
what firmware (S5) are you use?
Hey dude, I absolutely love your videos and I love my S5. You can record 10 bit 4K 60 internal on the S5. I think you need to be in .MOV.
Thanks Alex. Yeh it does. I added a note over that segment of the video as I forgot to say it. Thanks for watching 🎥
I’m watching on my phone. The b cam looks less digital to me. Freaken love my Panasonic cameras for the image quality and feature set
You’re right. The sharpness of the Lumix is a lot clearer and more natural
@@SamHolland it’s mind blowing really! Next gen panny cameras need to add phase detect for the haters and they’ll take over for sure!
Hi please answer my question, im strugling. So i bought panasonic S5, and i got a problem on Exposure things, when i change to the M mode for Photography, the exposure on S5 LCD is automatically Adjusted, I mean when I move the camera to the bright area, the exposure on lcd is Automatically change became darker and vice versa. So, i cannot monitoring in real time when adjust the iso, aperture & shutter speed, the exposure is not changing at all. Please Help! god dammit im stuckkkkkk!
Ooooo I know what you mean! It’s super annoying. I’m not much of a photographer at all and have limited experience BUT I was looking around for proper live view mode and this helped so I hope it helps you…
Go into menu and select the cog (blue menu monitor/display photo), select constant preview, set effect to A mode: no effect etc and preview while MF assist ON! That should help. Let me know 🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland Hi Sam, You're right, its "Constant Preview On" my Problem is solved! thank you so much! Finally!
Woohoo! 🤩 so pleased it helped. I was getting frustrated because I couldn’t find the answer for ages.
I totally agree with you with the exception of one thing - lumix autofocus is so terrible haha
I have r5c. I need an external battery to run 4k 60 or any video really it seems.
Camera B has some cyanish color cast to it so the cam A did looked better, despite both are great cams 📸☀️🥂
without knowing the result and pausing at 1:26, Cam A was too shaky to be a fair comparison... I'm guessing Cam A is the R5C as it doesn't have IBIS. However, I would bet that results would of been different with an RF native lens
I don't think so.
I completely agree. Canon states very clearly that the „combined“ stabilization from digital and optical IS is only available when native RF glas is used. I think using the old 16-35 just doesn‘t work on an 8k camera. There are other tests out there with the RF 15-35
or 24-70 which show the full stabilization potentital of the R5c. The camera is not able to control the OIS of that old lens as it would need to, hence the „jumps“.
Digital IS on R5c is crap. Try it and see for yourself.
@@nigerian-nightmare Well I honestly only use it with the RF 15-35 and with that lens it works perfectly fine. Here you can see a video with the RF 16-35 ua-cam.com/video/0YbbmGtuc-w/v-deo.html
Digital IS only is not as good as IBIS, but then again, who films 8k handheld? I only bought that camera for it being 8k and having a decent AF and small form factor and use it 99% on my gimbal.
@@nigerian-nightmare I would use lens IS over IBIS most of the time so even if it does suck it won’t effect my workflow when using this camera.
Camera B had a little something extra that I liked
Thanks Mike
Does the Panasonic overheat?
Hi Brandon. I’ve never had that issue with it 🤩🎥
"A" camera seems to be sharper, but it could be only a setting or post processing thing. It have reddish / punchier colors than B camera
"B" camera have more neutral color and more neutral sharpening setting straight out camera
You cannot compare with the clips only. Only when processing the files you could know which file fall apart first and which stand more manipulation of color / sharpening / exposure / lifting shadows / recover highlights / color shifts / etc
Liked A. But the difference was minor. I kind of waffled and just picked one. The difference did not appear to justify the price bump. For me anyways.
The S5 is far better Option in my opinion. Price and dynamic Range.
its obvious camera A is the canon, only for the lack of stab in some shots...as for the screen part of the S5, you can jump to the S1 with 500 pounds more and have a better screen, better viewfinder full size hdmi (only thing i hate on the S5)
@Jerimiah Cook hmmm really? i was almost sure they updated to internal raw at some point....sorry then i will change my comment so nobody buys it for that
You said the best image you ever had from a camera was the GH6. Not you say it's the S5? Which is it?
S5 since it’s full frame and a little easier to work with when it comes to colour. But I did love the GH6.
Just off the top, without knowing which is which - The image seemed more pleasing with camera A on the shots with the dude in the image. I liked the skin tones better. On the other shots, camera B looked better to me.
Thanks Nathan 🙏🏻🎥
Fantastic video. For me the Canon just pips in in terms of image quality but it's far from a £4k improvement. For fellow small busines owners, I'd recommend not jumping on the hype train of new and trending. There are plenty of great quality cams in the £1-£2k Mark. Even less if you shop around. The cam is one tool of many that you will need if you're looking to start a business. Invest smartly.
Thank you. Yes, exactly!! Good insight! 🙏🏻🎥🤩
Cam A was my preferred picture quality.
I wanted an s5 for my next camera but I’m not sure I can deal with the focus accuracy
If you do video you should do manual focus. This camera is not for af in video
@@Aviciiz Do you have one
@@muelmedia1045 i have the s5 yes
wow thought camera B is the R5C. Happy with my S5 :)
Quality camera 🎥
