Collins was everywhere on that day!!
Oscar Eduardo Núñez Rodriguez that’s right! Hell, he even played drums for Zeppelin. .honestly they sounded pretty terrible and I love Zeppelin. . .Queen stole the show. This was an amazing performance though. You won’t find two better singers together on the same stage for an epic duo performance!
He really seated him shirt that day! hahaha
Boldinkj There was a lot going on with Collins and Led Zeppelin. Apparently he only had half an hour to practice the songs. Live Aid also became a Led Zeppelin reunion, Collins just didn’t know that as he thought he was playing for Robert Plant.
Makes sense that he was bc Phil was everywhere that whole decade! 😁🎶👍🏼
@@itiswednesdaymydudes54 it should also be said that zeppelins entire performance that day was utter shit. Its not phil collins's fault
To anyone isn't a fan of Phil Collins, just remember he played with Zeppelin, Clapton and Sting in the same day
In two different continents

I thought the same haha
Phil Collins can sing literally anything and sound unreal
One of the greatest musicians of all time, dude is simply amazing he play drums, piano, guitar... The man is a walking cheatcode
It really looks like Phil Collins was just walking by the stadium and was like hey dude you’re a good singer do you wanna perform
Yes, his shirt does look a bit as though he’s just come off a building site ! No sartorial elegance like David Bowie ! 🤷♀🥲😂😂😂
Well he just got off a Concorde after performing in London on the same day. He was amazing
It’s funny That’s sort of how he got the genesis gig He was tasked with finding the next lead singer when Peter left But everyone he brought to the band None of them sounded as good as Phil did So they want with Phil I’d say it was a smart move And however good Phil is at singing He’s much much better at drumming The guy is just a generational dynamo I’m afraid one of the last of his kind I’m funny that way I want my musicians to play music When the computer does your whole set for you I don’t consider you that talented
But hey it’s whatever people like so can’t argue but so much If people weren’t buying it then “artists” wouldn’t be putting it out there So it falls on the consumers They ultimately determine how good something is
Musicians decided “hey let’s see how little effort we can put in and still make as much money as musicians typically do” And they found that they could basically be good looking Learn a few dance moves from TikTok and then have someone else write the song Perform the instrumentals (if that) and then as long as they didn’t sound horrible they can be a star
Live Aid, the greatest rock event in history and will never be beaten ...fact!
*Sees Bohemian Rhapsody once*

Sting sings and Phil Collins doing backing vocals.
I'd be honored if some Phil Collins/Sting/80s fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of AGAINST ALL ODDS and ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK on my channel in tribute to the masters. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and peace.

hello 👋, how do you see my shows? have you ever been in one ?
I like how Phil starts clapping when they started to get out of rhythm. Absolute legend.
and the public took it as an hand-clapping invitation ! Fantastic.
Clapping out of time might I add
The lack of any consistent groove, tempo, and even meter (at points) was unsettling.
Because among his many other gifts and talents, Phil Collins is a drummer!
Best stalker song ever.
Kiei Luahi yep.Your so right hahahaha
😂🙌
Creeps me out every time I hear it, at the time I was going out with someone who was a bit of a stalker! I was there at Live Aid.
We are ST army. We is everywhere!! HAHAHA
Damn right 🤣🙌🏻👍
They sound absolutely amazing together. Such a shame they never recorded together in the studio
They actually did. On Phil Collins' album No Jacket Required Sting provides harmony background on songs: Long long way to go and: Take me home. Peter Gabriel also adds backing vocals on Take me home.
What saxophone?
@@alanjones5786 A Soprano Sax.
@@KG-th3cr Wow!!!! Hardly anyone remembers that, especially having the holy Trinity with Peter sing on "Take Me Home!!!" BRAVO to you!!!
@@alanjones5786 Oh Branford Marsalis, the most talented and also famous saxophonist to grace this planet? What's your comment?
That sax, amazing. Also Phil Collins and Sting, they killed it.
Branford Marsalis is on the sax!
" I'll Be Watching You" the Stalker Anthem sung by the Police😅😂
I never knew the majesty of hearing Phil Collins and Sting singing a duet until today, that is!
Sting was in The long long way to go as a vocal.
I love Phil Collins voice, Extraordinary and so talented.
And how about sting?
And then Miami vice crocket and tubs ...
Collins and Sting= Dream Team
+ Elton & Clapton :)
@@alexsawman2119 I would say my dream team is: Sting, Phil, Clapton and Mark.
True!
This was an amazing weekend. It could never happen today. Sadly, there’s no real talent today & far too many egos to deal with. There were no egos, just great music for a real cause. This was music!!
There were plenty of egos in the 80’s. Dont be naive
It did happen again…in 2005! Live 8 😊
there were plenty of egos back then (possibly more than today) but I agree about the talent.
The fact that Phil Collins performed in 2 continents on the same day is legendary despite the horrible performance with Led Zeppelin
No fue su culpa...Plant es el responsable!
No fue su culpa...Plant es el responsable!
The Zeppelin thing was partly their fault because Plant and Page were still fighting some and refused to rehearse and Phil just had to follow them as best he could with no rehearsal.
@@MegaPianoplayer1 Phil admitted himself that he didn't do that much rehearsing himself. He listened to the records on the concorde on his way to the US
I never thought missing the great music, artists and their
AUTHENTICITY ofvthr 80's😮 would make me sad today as a 65 year old in 2024😢
I love how sting and Phil voice blends so well
I LOVE that the comments are full of Collins fans!
Sting tune, two legends, Sting one of the best musicians born, Phil & Sting, great combo….
Collins fans are obsessed. I'm one of them. Of course we are here. 😅
holy shit ,What I would not give to hear them live in 1985, I was only 2 years old
That's totally fine man, I was not even born and I wish I was there in live aid concert. Listen to all the legends rocking.
Sure you were....every video from the 80's has some loser claiming they were too young. We all know you are in your 50's, stop the bullshit.

That dude on brass killed it. Dude played melodies effortlessly. So smooth.

35 years later and this is still the best concert ever IMO
Phil Collins and Sting singing together might be my new favorite thing
Incredible performance by Sting and Phil Collins. Really enjoy the inclusion of Branford Marsalis on the soprano sax (of the famous American musical family including Wynton Marsalis). All extremely well done. Great synergy, for such a one off moment.
Wonderful
Joey 'The Lips' Fagan: (To Branford Marsalis earlier that day...)
" Are you doing what I told you brother? Are you thinking of that reed as a woman's nipple?"
😀
Wow, beautiful duo 😍❤, I am 17 years old...What I would have given to have been born a few decades earlier to watch The Live Aid live and live in the beautiful 80s era ! 😭😭
When there was real artist around...

Nowadays... how much we miss them
We still have them. Muse. James Bay, Hozier. Listen to their lyrics, listen to their voices, and then come back to me.
What are they now? made out of wood?
Both of these guys are still around
love this version - branford marsalis providing the perfect sax accompaniment to Sting & Phil.
Clarinet
@@ricardogomez1910 that's a soprano saxophone, not a clarinet...
Indeed, let's not forget the 3rd legend on stage 👍
I'm crying both emotion and sadness. Those days never won't come back.
and we were lucky to be there !
Amazing vocals by both Phil Collins and Sting, and a great instrumental performance by Branford Marsalis 👍😎
Wow! I can't believe someone recognized him.. He's genius musician 😊
So good!
those who were at live aid were the luckiest people to hear such great music that we wished we had in our generation
Branford Marsalis, what a legend and long time companion of sting.
These two should have formed a super duo. Brilliant harmonizing
Stings vocals are amazing
Under the circumstances of having been mutinied just minutes earlier backstage, by three spineless musician-'friends' of his, you'd be absolutely correct....amazing vocal, that day, Sting.
I'm sure there are many opinions, but honestly, for me, there is no better time than this one. 20 years old as of 2024, I wasn't even born then, and I can't tell you how many times I have been frustrated by the differences in the times in which I was born. That's how great my beloved Phil Collins and Sting are.
Congratulations for having good taste
Never been a fan of Sting’s jazz tempo melodies, but this is a song that works super well with the slower tempo. Phil is my hero, stuck in the back in drums, collecting a decent check with Genesis. Oops Peter Gabriel bails, what happens. He takes over vocals and drums, damn.. solo career beyond approach, bigger than Stings even. Glad to see him remarried and in better health!!
This is indeed a good rendition. Sting only played the song in this style as his entire band, except his bass guitarist (and on this track saxophonist), at very short notice refused to play without getting paid (Tears for Fears cancelled at two days notice when their band did the same) It was supposed to be a full band set with Phil Collins joining them for a couple of his songs and finishing with a rendition of this track.
“Reproach”
Roxanne was originally Bossa Nova and Stewart suggested Tango
The 80s were just awesome!!!!
That combo was just brilliant.
Incredible vocals from Phil and Sting but Branford Marsalis is such an amazing sax wingman too.
One guitar, one saxophone, two masters voices. The silence of the audience is phenomenal! What a unique accoustic cover!
I'm in love with the part that starts at 1:05, such a wonderful performers
Perfect 💟
For sure
All right...700 comments, I'll make the 701 😉 what to say...the live aid 1985...I was 15 and what it makes it so unique and impossible to repeat is the happening the one time thing where nothing design to be perfect, but to be truth and authentic no mixing, no retouches....just real and I think this is what the concert was all about. Real singer, real voices, real instruments...real live. Thanks to all the performers, you've created a great moment of the music history
I think its damn time the world needs a second live aid !!

If you were born too late to appreciate Live Aid, it was everything people say it was.
Sting and Phil singing "Every Breath You Take", together?... that was beautiful and amazing, the voices of both sound so good, created a great harmony. Simply wonderful
Why cant this be a more beautiful world?
After reading his book and watching these performances, I can only say I think Phil is his own worst critic. He did remarkably well considering the circumstances both here and with Led Zep. One of the great talents of the modern era and from what I can tell, a good bloke who owns his mistakes, both personally and professionally.
These two both have amazing voices, & are both just amazing musicians in general.. Despite the lack of Andy Summers & Stewart Copeland, this is probably my favorite version of this song.
Maybe perhaps because the awesome Branford Marsellis added some smooth jazzy sound to an already great song?
35 years ago and still magic in 2020 🥰
How i wish I was born in this era of music genre.
2 very talented singers/song writers / musicians. Quality.
Awesome voice. What a great legend. Sting!

I lived an hour away from Philly in those days. I didn't go to the show but I watched it all day on MTV on that scorching hot summer day. Very memorable!!
People saying queen was the best at live aid. Everyone was good at live aid, that's why its so amazing. Not one band that made it amazing, they did it together
wow ,, 2 songs on the same day in US and UK,, what a man
0:34, It might surprise you, but it's Phil Collins who sings the right lyrics here. Before concert Sting has said that he might mix the words up a bit.
