HA! perfect. Best post 😆
My favorite story about this performance is that the first thing Freddie heard when he stepped off stage was his good friend Elton John, paying him a compliment by telling him “Thanks a lot you just fucked it up for the rest of us!”
they could not match him!
LOL
Bowie was the one man who could come on after him
Bollox. He was his genre, others were theres. Elton needed a good bumming. He got it later.
I thought it was Bowie who told Freddie to "f**k o**, don't expect me to go on after that"
Freddy was so absolutely ON during this performance! The band was so tight too. Amazing. I watched it on TV in 1985- I was 20 years old, dancing in my living room, loving the magic that was coming through my TV screen. Now at nearly 59, I'm watching it on my tablet in bed, as my dancing days are over... but my head is happily bobbing in time with the music. This has to be the 15th time I've seen this, & it does not get old. Love it!!
Nicely said.
I was 14.5y remember it like yesterday.
I was 24 and captivated by every moment. 🥰🙌🏻💕
Dancing days are never over…
You and me both, same age, time off work, absolutely loved it. Just watched again on me tablet. Xxx

Rock on!!!
What a performer. His energy is what live music is all about
STRONG PERORMER
My mom always tells me about this concert, she was only 17 years old when she attended, she said all the performance did a amazing show but the one that stood out the most for her was Queen ... especially when they sung "we will rock you" she said she thought the stadium was going to collapse with all the people stomping their feet on the floor... she said she wasn't a big fan of queen but after that day she became one of this biggest fan... she was heart broken when he passed 💔 😢
great!
RIP, Now she's with freddie in the heaven ❤🫂
Your mom is so lucky...
I was 6 years old when the concert took place, I get acquainted with queen much later, in a 1991 and since then Queen has been the best of the best for me! I would give a lot to see this concert😢

This must be considered the greatest live performance of all times.
👍🏼👍🏼 you’re so right!!!
And it is according to polls. I’d read a poll was taken on which band was the best that day. 60% came in Queen, followed by Bowie, McCartney, Elton, U2, Collins & Madonna in Philly. I see most were in the UK lol….that breaks up the 40! Going down as [one of] if not the greatest live rock performance in history. BOOM!!
It generally is. Nothing comes close.

Amazing!!
in my opinion, queen is the best band of all time. i'm only 19, but queen has had a huge impact on my life. music is my favorite thing on the planet, and i quite literally listen to everything, but absolutely no one could ever top queen. if i only had 5 minutes and 55 seconds left in my life, i would want to spend it listening to bohemian rhapsody. freddie mercury is the best performer i've ever seen. i wish i was alive when he was. long live queen.
You've got great taste, when you get a chance and if you can find it, watch the 1986 A Kind Of Magic Gig at Wembley
That's so amazing to hear from someone so young,, good taste mate😊
2nd, nothing compears to led zeplin
They will always be one of the greatest bands of all time
Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, and Prince will always the best singers and performers of all time
March 31, 2024..still watching ❤❤❤
I'm not sure I've ever seen a performer have the entire audience eating out of the palm of their hands like that. Truly incredible.
Freddie was struggling like hell with his voice for many days before this from his illness which makes performance all-the-more impressive! He's my all time fav!!
I have seen Tina Turner hold her audience, and in the Country Genre, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw... Toby Keith, Alan Jackson. Jimmy Buffett did it for 50+ years, but this Parrothead loves me some Freddie, Brian, Roger, and John Deacon.
@@jobemayberry3243Interesting! I thought that his voice was getting away from him a bit towards the end, but he also didn't hold back for these 20 minutes lol. Man anyone could wish they would have just 50% of this man's talent, expression, creativity... So if he loses 5% towards the end of a 20 Minute concert where he didn't hold back a single note and was ill on top of that beforehand... You know what I mean xD Great freakin concert, and you can see how much he loved performing, he was born for it!

Freddie Mercury was amazing yes, but let's not forget about those "other guys" behind him....all masters of their crafts..so here's a shout out to the one and only Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor!!!
They were definitely more than the sum of their parts.
John took Freddie's death especially hard
He is a gem
I Love you

Yes, I am listening to! Freddy was peerless ! As a singer, performer, songwriter and as a great human being! Now I am 73 years old and still enjoying his music and performances , and his voice , great and strong voice , all together it was a great lost that he had to go! Singing until his last moments, days ! His song : those were the days , so beautiful and touching my heart and soul! Thank you for everything Freddy!👏👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️ ❤️🙏🙏🙏
I’m so blessed to have seen Queen twice back in the day. ❤
I must admit I am envious! They’re the one band I never got to see but always wanted too. I was 14 when he passed, and my mom was more of a 70s gold fan, so that’s a gig I’ll have to pretend I’m at with my loud surround sound haha
This concert was so amazing. No cell phones, no auto tune, no selfies Just pure talent & everyone being in the moment

75 bands played.
$35.00 for a ticket.
$2.14 for the greatest 20 minutes in music history.
Not a bad deal.
only truths! queen forever
remember that $35 in 1985 is about $100 today. still, one of the best performances ever
@@gvm_l4088 Considering the line-up of A-list artists that day, Bowie, U2, Madonna, et al, *_well_* worth the price.
If you divide 35.00 by the number of bands that played, 75, you get about 0.46. By your logic it would cost 46 cents to listen to each band. Your math is off.
you divided it the wrong way smh
My God Freddy was amazing, what a incredible loss when he passed
Its amazing that he was ever here.
Artistically, it's not necessarily an incredible loss, don't think Queen had more than 1 solid album left in them. But to pass at such an early age is always a tragedy, no argument about that.
@@chelsblue7370 highly disagree. Freddie and Queen had so much more left in them. Music today would be so different if Freddie was still alive.

In 1985 I was 7 so never had the opportunity to see this event. So I see it on UA-cam and Movie theaters trying to understand the ethos of an era that saw me converting from baby to toddler and to teenager.

No one will ever ever ever come close to the talent and showmanship of Freddie. Evah!
Not sure about that Michael Jackson, Prince etc. But top of the game in their niche. This was a great moment in music history/politics - when the world said NO to doing nothing as people STARVE.
@@mogadon7 Freddie started his journey with Bohemian Rap before MJ Thriller and Queen was established before Prince. They were all talented but no one can beat Freddie, sorry, and I love all three. OH, and I did see Freddie live 3 times and Michael once. Best 4 shows of my life.
Check out Mexican singer Juan Gabriel, amazing talent we had
Watch Bowies last concert as Ziggy Stardust at Hammersmith Odeon, 1973. Not saying he is a bigger showman than Mercury but if I had to pick, I would definitely chose this concert every time someone asks me "If you could travel back in time, what concert would you got to?" ;)
For me it's Elvis Presley he's always been my top choice. Like others have said MJ and Prince they're not in the same league at all. They're good, just not their level.

The day he passed, our entire high school had a moment of silence. Many thanks to the teachers who understood and respected how much music meant to us. Thank you, Freddy. Thank you, Queen. Pity most kids today will never remember Live Aid.
You can't remember something that was long gone before you were even born, the comment made no sense whatsoever. I however do remember that event and we were so upset it was somewhere we couldn't at that time get to lol. The TV was enough but for those who were actually there it must have been amazing.
Did you go to school on a sunday?🤭
Clearly the news was released the next day which is when we all mourned. Thete is a time diffferemce too. Lol. No internet back then. Not everything was immediate then.
@@ravenmoonspicer4781 Yep we had a section in our morning assembly at school, including a silence and recognition of his achievements. That was in a UK primary school too (ages 5 to 11.) Queen completely stole the entire Live Aid show, and it was a moment of pure love and joy.
I agree! Didn’t Diana have something to with them headlining this? I’m probably wrong I was a teen then but they were brilliant showmen,
I agree as well!!! It makes it even more special/significant now , knowing that Freddie was so terribly unwell at that very moment in time when doing the concert, yet gave such a polished, heartfelt, perfect (or as close to, as far as I’m concerned) performance!!!!
He knew it was going to be the last time he performed live, as did his fellow Band Mates, Family and certain close friends, etc.
@@brisvegasblonde6191 I don’t want to say you are wrong with your facts but live Aid was not Queens last live performance with Freddy. Fact, Freddy was sick with the Virus at this time and showing various symptoms but not yet officially diagnosed, that did not come until 1987. Queens final live performance with Freddy out front took place on 9 August 1986 at Knebworth Park in England. Freddy would pass away from the AIDS Virus late 1991.
It really doesn’t matter because Freddy was sick and Queens Live aid performance has been judged by the top artist as being the best live performance ever of all time.
DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!!!!
Don't agree - they were the certainly band who used the performance most successfully, to promote the remainder of their career. But there were lots of very popular performances on the day - Bowie, Sting, McCartney, U2, Elton John, Madonna etc were at the peak of their careers. This wasn't a big thing for them

The funniest thing about this was that no other band wanted this particular spot in the show. He put it all out there. Every bit of him. What a performer.
My son asked, how can so many people come when there is no social media to announce such event. Told him, son, our times was a unique era that can never be duplicated. The bottom line of live aid is to help a famine stricken country. We were brought by a common love to help others, and it was so genuine and pure, that’s why so many came and watch in every country. Those who helped were never mentioned and do not need to. We need this again❤
Did Queen have concerts to help the hundreds of millions of migrants in US, Canada, and Europe?

I could put this performance on a loop and watch it forever. I saw black and white poster of Freddy once and it said, "When I was a lad, my mother told me I could be anything I wanted to be. So I became a legend." How right he was. The rush it must have been looking out and seeing 73,000 people knowing every word and loving every minute of your remarkable talent.
He made the world a better place and will be remembered forever.

For 22 minutes Freddie Mercury had the whole world in the palm of his hand. From this moment on he was known as the greatest showman of all time.
It was beyond words.
And still beyond words.❤😢❤❤
He still is.❤
YES BEST FRONT MAN
yes
Remember Live Aid like yesterday. I was 15 and they had satellite beaming between London and Philly! These guys ruled the entire show!!
Amazing talent,,,the entire band was magnificent 👏
I have watched this a 1000 times.. Still the greatest Live performance in Rock History.. RIP KING!
Only surpassed by Metallica in 89,but that's Metal not Rock.
He was a queen, not a king 😃❤️
Love you
@@zeitreisen1306this is saund of magnificiant
Angajez Fredie mercury pentru nici un penny
If I was granted a wish to travel in time to see any one concert ever, it would be Queen at Live Aid 1985.
Let me know as soon as you've figured out the time travel thing. I'll come with you ....
I would say slipknot at ozzfest but this would be second
@@mat2093 I'm metalhead but please don't compare in anything slipknot with the best band ever Queen
@@dignouhagstromdegilead29 queen is not the best band ever. For me Iowa era slipknot is. Just mu opinion. But i do love queen.
@@mat2093 Your opinion is not reality, you can't compare Queen to slipknot, slipknot may be compare to Korn, Queen is top of top, only Beatles or Michael Jackson can be compare with Queen... And just for you to know, just in Metal there are so much better band than Slipknot, and the most successful is Metallica. I saw Slipknot many times live, this is great show, spectacular but musically so poor
Masterpiece of one of best live music ever !!!
Yes still listening to this fantastic voice
I sometimes get sad when the realization hits me that I will never get to see him perform live. What a legend!
Simple Music can make you sing. a Simple hug can make you feel better Simple things can make you happy, i hope my Simple Hello makes you smile.

True..
Now this was a CONCERT! Long before social media and the internet!
I watched it on mtv in 1985
Yeah so refreshing to see people with free hands clapping with the rythm. :) I'm sure they had fun being in the moment !
