My mom always tells me about this concert, she was only 17 years old when she attended, she said all the performance did a amazing show but the one that stood out the most for her was Queen ... especially when they sung "we will rock you" she said she thought the stadium was going to collapse with all the people stomping their feet on the floor... she said she wasn't a big fan of queen but after that day she became one of this biggest fan... she was heart broken when he passed 💔 😢

The funniest thing about this was that no other band wanted this particular spot in the show. But Freddie was smart enough to know it would be broadcast in the USA at prime time and he took it over his agent's objections. People who had never seen Queen live got a taste of the magic, talent and charisma of the group. The rest is history.

My son asked, how can so many people come when there is no social media to announce such event. Told him, son, our times was a unique era that can never be duplicated. The bottom line of live aid is to help a famine stricken country. We were brought by a common love to help others, and it was so genuine and pure, that’s why so many came and watch in every country. Those who helped were never mentioned and do not need to. We need this again❤

I remember this like it was yesterday, clichéd as that is !
But 1985 was yesterday to me. I LOVED the 1980' s.
The music, the fashion, the whole thing.
I was 23 when Live Aid happened. I was a student nurse, and my 3 flatmates and I sat and watched the whole thing. We sang, we danced, we laughed and we cried.
It was a very moving event.
We felt very much part of something bigger, something important. It was a real zeitgeist moment in time .
In our naive innocence, we thought that with the amount of money raised, it would bring about such changes in Africa.
We were wrong of course . But I will NEVER forget that day 😊

Fact, Freddy was sick with the Virus at this time and showing various symptoms but not yet officially diagnosed, that did not come until 1987. Queens final live performance with Freddy out front took place on 9 August 1986 at Knebworth Park in England. Freddy would pass away from the AIDS Virus late 1991.
