Yes, 15 de marzo 2024
No auto tune, no mixing, just a man, his piano and his pure voice
I think he is a bore.To try to make Live aid about him and then be upstaged completely by Freddie was pure justice
how did he try to make it about him you douche
Billy Joel claimed the reason he didn't do Live Aid is he had no band at that time and he didn't think one guy at a piano could hold a stadium's attention. I wonder what he thought when he saw Mr. Collins annihilating in Phil-adelphia.
What has happpened meanwhile?
Good job rehashing the top comment.
Some random guy in Burleson, Texas, some random night in December of 2023, Thanks you, Phil. Just thanks Sir. I was in a bad way in 1985-1986. You gave me hope, saved a guy who was lost that night, and I’m still here to see 2024. May you have happiness Phil, and enjoy the New year 2024, I hope you see this, praying for you brother, health n happiness in 2024

When he missed that one key and grinned, I was soo grateful to know he is human just like the rest of us. Bravo Sir Collins! We'll remember this forever!

@@SuzyQ334 Hello. How are you doing?
Hard to believe he was a drummer and never intended on becoming a singer. Glad he did. So much timeless music. Soundtrack to so many lives 🥰
Yes I gave ya a like for the comment. I'm pretty sure he learned piano at a young age. Long before drums. He performs sitting down now a day singing is all he's got left!!
nonsense, he was always a singer in Genesis before he became lead singer, he did backing vocals on all tracks and also lead vocals on one early track
That is by far the hardest part to believe about Phil Collins. That he might've never been a singer and soundtracked many of our childhoods if he stayed just a drummer.
Tenía yo 7 años apenas pero e crecido escuchando a estas leyendas musicales que nunca volverán
All I was saying is that I'm pretty sure he learned piano before drums and singing. All though being young he probably didn't realize how good of a singer he would become
This guy's taking all my breath away. Can you believe I'm here in 2023? Thank yiu lord.
Hiiii, do you like prefer his solo stuff?
Phil makes a mistake at 1:06, shakes his head and smiles and carries on. A true legend. That's how greatness is achieved. When you screw up, shrug it off, smile, and keep pushing.
Phil didn't make any "mistake at 1:06" ... the piano was out of tune. Elton John cracked a joke about it; Freddie Mercury cracked a joke about it.

@Susannah: Yes, it was a mistake. Phil's joked about it in interviews many times, the bum note heard around the world. It happens...he's still great!
I love how at this point in time Phil was one of the biggest stars on the planet, while looking like a guy who might come around to fix your plumbing

I can't believe that I stayed up all day taping live-aid on my vcr and still have all this footage on 3 vhs still in 2024...
Mid July it was hot, humid, his hands were sweaty and a finger slid right off a black key onto a white key. It happens even to the best musicians. Love how he just smiled it away and kept going as if nothing happened. 🎼🎹🥁🎤
Dang someone’s paying attention. 😂
This is such a great performance and my favorite part is before when he thanks everyone and the world, sort of shivers at the thought, then delivers a brilliant performance.
First time watching this video and I noticed him laugh it off and just be like I know I’m the shit. I’m allowed to make mistakes just shut up and listen
It’s sad to know that this brilliant musician is now forced to perform from a chair and has lost his ability to play the drums and the piano. We were blessed and fortunate to grow up listening to the timeless music this man created. You can put on any of his albums and never skip tracks. Every song just as good as the previous. A pure musical genius.

One of the most talented musicians to ever walk the Earth. He could do absolutely everything.
One of the most heart-wrenching songs ever written too.
The best drumming vocalist of all time. Or should I say best singing drummer of all time? Either way, incredible.
Phil Collins is one of only three musicians who have sold over 100 million records both as a solo artist and as a part of a band. The other two are Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney.

When I was 6 my mum died from probable suicide and 5 years later I heard this song. When the radio played it for the first time it cut me to my very core and 40 years later it still does. It is a remarkable song, Phil's voice timeless and perfect, he wrote and created a magnificent masterwork. It resonates with profound meaning.
The fact that he hit the wrong key makes this performance even better for me. He smiled it off gracefully and rocked it. 100% human heart

Put the 'live' in Live Aid. Owns it with class and fun.
Of course.......absoluty!!!!!
Phil didn't "hit the wrong key". The piano was out of tune. All the musicians commented on it, including Freddie Mercury.
@@SuzyQ334 He played an arpeggio in a part when the original recording has a chord played softly a few times. That´s the mistake. I could be wrong but I don´t hear anything off key in his whole performance.

He didn't make a mistake, there was a problem with the piano.
@@Hondadctrider no he really made a mistake (which can happen to anyone). If there had been a problem with the piano, the problem would have happened again and Phil would not have continued.
I'm a drummer since the mid 1980s and we all make a LOT of mistakes, most of you in the audience you don't even notice. I can tell you i wish i could play piano too! Phil is great
That mistake and his reaction make the entire video, for me.
I love the song regardless, but his performance is that much more earnest for it.
In fact, this is my favorite rendition of the song, due to the emotion Phil imparts. And the mistake is part of it, to me.
@@avantesma1 As i said we as musican's always make mistakes, most the time you people in the audience don't notice, that was a big mistake but Phil is primarily a drummer but plays piano very well. Try and sing and play drums or piano or guitar at the same time, it's really not as easy as many think, or don't give it a thought. Try this...tap your hand as a snare drum and your foot as the bass drum and sing any song you like. . 😉
Back in the days when in order to be a famous singer you actually needed to know how to sing .
people like ariana grande, lady gaga and miley cyrus actually know how to sing. they just sing songs with no vocal range because pop music makes money. they've done one off songs or one off albums where they sing more difficult songs well.

01:05 wrong note!!! loved that smile after...
Wasn’t a wrong note as such, it was in a key where all the black notes are played and his fingers must’ve been sweaty and slipped off on to the white one
Yes, a perfect wrong note for a perfect song.
Not a wrong note asshole the piano
Accidentally hit the wrong key. I played the piano growing up, this is not a difficult arrangement to play at all, when we mess up we aren't supposed to give it away by making a face. Its virtually impossible to play the piano and sing and never make a mistake. But this arrangement really was on the beginner/intermediate level of piano playing, he must have been very nervous. His singing was on par though no mistakes there.
Cozette M in his autobiography he said he was so sweaty that his hand slipped off the key causing the mishap.
It is safe to say that this is the Golden Era of music.

Thank you for giving me Hope, in those days I did not have much hope, you helped salvage my life, and I didn’t end my life, that day, when I listened to this, Thank you for that concert. I’m alive today and emotionally stronger
To think that I remembered him looking like this for the longest time and now he is an old man as I am an older woman , time is something we can never get back ,he is so special in my heart listening to him in my sweet teenage years, I. It is...last year around the end of March. I was with my child's mother and was doing my best to make it work. Yet, for 3 years...I was to blame for her depression and how I gave her 2 kids that she didn't need. Seeing when we first met she had 2 girls. I stayed through many times where it was rough for us. Tried to do what I thought was right. Yet still wasn't enough. Then last year at end of March. I had to leave them in Canada. I was only on a visitor's pass. Even though I was dual. But with the boarder closing. We didn't want to have me lose my job. I left hoping it wasn't going to last. But it did. And now I'm still blamed for things I wasn't able to control. Told that me leaving was the best that happened to her. Even though there were years of happiness. I miss my children and the ones I helped raise.
@@GalthT hope as far as kids it will turn around
Four decades later, this Phil Collins hit continues to inspire countless music fans throughout the planet. It motivates so many to move forward "Against All Odds"!
Till 2030 will still be listening to this song its timeless
How can someone have such a flawless voice? Damn, his tone and range is everything! We love you, Phil!
Phil had a flawless voice in the 70s and early 80s. By 2007 he was just a pitiful caricature of himself.
@@onkelebert787 why so negative? Nothing lasts forever, man.
He’s obviously another bitter and twisted individual who has nothing else to do other than be resentful to others, I wouldn’t worry about it too much, the internet is full of them
@@onkelebert787 In the Rome 2007 concert, he still sounded great, don't you think?
He is definitely loved! Let's keep him in our prayers
They don’t make artists and songs like this anymore, pure genius
The internet killed music.
@@donniev8181radio killed music. TV killed music. The new generation killed music…tail as old as time…
The songs and artists you love and hold dear are the same ones that the generations before you called “trash”, “just noise”, “nothing compared to the old greats”, “simply trendy garbage”, etc. etc. etc.
Can’t you just accept that beauty is in the senses of the beholder, and most all kinds o’ music are worthy of being loved by someone without judgement?
@@JimBobJoeB0b no, the internet killed originality! All of the music pre internet was so superior to what's being put out today. That's why so many of today's artists are doing covers of pre internet music. The 50s-90s was music's golden era.
They do, but vynil is not worth the price it was.
How about Justin Bieber??

So he missed one note in the beginning but it’s a lot of pressure playing in front of that many people. The performance was amazing, his voice incredible
When singers could sing live and didn't have to mime, cause you know, they actually had talent.
artists used to mime all the time back in the 80s especially on tv performances
@@bien.mp4 Shut your bitch ass up. You know what he meant.
Agreed sadly you dont really see such talents anymore. Most sound terrible live.
Mean the “popstars” these days. To avoid confusion
Jojo Dancer stfu
I like how he just casually walks into the stage holding a towel and a bottle of water. True legends don't need to show off
I really appreciate your love as my fan. Thank you, Your kind words warmed my heart ❤️
Towel, bottle of water, and a bucket...of talent
Phil collins is the best artist a can hear on the radio.
Man, as a musician I felt his inner turmoil when he made that mistake in front of what was the biggest audience on the planet. But, he's a pro and got through the rest of the song beautifully.
