This is FANTASTIC. Thank you so much. There really are so many choices for guns for the Veteran, it's diffucult to know the difference between them all. I wish there was a resource like this for all weapon families. Showing the Pros and cons of the various Mark types within each weapon family. and then comparing the various families against eachother to explain their intended uses.
Canonically, the lasguns problem is that they lack Armor Penetration capabilities. But against soft targets or lightly armored enemies they are devastating. The Chaos Space Marines even have a saying about it: "He who disdains the humble lasgun has not charged fifty of them across an open field".
The Lasgun is effective against 90% of all threats that the imperium has ever faced. Unfortunately, the 10% that its ineffective against is all that remains
Thank you for the testing! At least if all 3 variants are close enough, it's better for the players since getting any of the 3 is good stuff! Might make it easier to get one with decent stats since it's not just one Mk that's wanted.
Glad you made this vid because I was having a hard time justifying my executioner’s builds. Definitely felt like the rebalances made the mg 12 feel off. The one thing that pains me is Marksman capstone doesn’t seem to refresh on ability refresh from kills while the stance is up? just makes me feel like the longer I’m in the stance, the less value that skill gets. Unless I’m wrong!
Happy to guide you to the Emperors light. Executioners Stance is still very good now. Albeit still some minor frustrations about it, such as enemy Ogryn not being highlighted (which in my opinion ruins the flow of Bolt Gun & Plasma Gun play). & You're right it doesn't, you have to reactivate the ability to regain the buff!
the MG12 reigned surpreme because a. its recoil and firerate lead to a perfect precision reset, making chaining headshos easier, and B) you often couldn't get the benefit from higher firerate due to inaccuracy, recoil and sheer wrist and finger injuries necessary to click mouse1 5-6 times per second. Now we have full-auto mod.
Unless I'm just blind, during my testing the MG Ia does now reset perfectly and does not recoil at all. The MG IV does still a very little. Definitely give it a try! Because the MG Ia now hits so many 1-shot break points, the faster fire rate now helps a ton when there's a wall of enemies in front of you, but you can slow down when needed without very much punishment to your effective DPS. I need to get that full-auto mod though.
Sounds like it comes down to what your prefered targets are going to be. Do you want a generalist answer to about any situation? Get the Mg.1a. Want a special and elite killer? Mg.12. Shooters with an option for specials? Mg.4.
Really nice info, easy listening too. Gonna have to save this for later when i make a vet but right now im trying a crazy idea for psyker for a "gun wizard", and i like the lazguns. Im new so figuring out the differences was not something i was easily able to tell what was "best"
The gun psycher tree has a bunch of stuff for crit hits, so I'd actually recommend the heavy laz pistol, it's really good for crits and mobility and hipfire
@Shmethan hm. Interesting. Might try building one of those as well when I get back to it. Would you recommend the crit boost aura or no? It doesn't seem to make much of a difference over having scriers gaze up more often instead as far as I can tell
This is honestly the best outcome for ALL the infantry lasguns. The update did what I hoped it had done, brought up all the infantry lasguns to be auric viable. Although some number crunchers will cry about how the MG12 is "bad" now, even though nothing had been changed on it
Yeah, they are pretty much equal to each other now. & yeah probably, people don't like when they're favourite thing isn't the best anymor, due to the MGXII's great single target damage already I think it sits fine and will perform amazingly. Ia just marginally better!
The mg12 has been powercrept because the mg1a is only doing roughly doing only 30-40 less dps than the 12. And frankly it does need abit more damage to actually get closer to the other lasguns
Ever since the full auto mod was released, the MG IV has been my favorite ranged weapon! If you want to play with the MG IV, I highly recommend the full auto mod
I have always loved my 1a variant since launch, I got it as a reward for my first Damnation run with a juicy 378 Base stat. And it's nice to have my old reliable to get more love with these recent updates.
Thanks for having a video solely focused on lasguns, as I feel like they don't get enough love compared to the other ranged weapons. I've been trying to make the XII work, but something felt off about it, but now thanks to this video I'll try the other variants. That is if I can break away from revolver vet. I've been having an absolute blast with it on patch 14, it's disgusting how good it is now
They are usually left out the conversation to be fair yeah! The XII Does feel a little off, only weapon not to get anything changed to it. The other variants are 100% worth the try now. Hahaha the Revolver is pretty insane. We live in a world where a stub pistol does more damage than a Bolt Gun!
@@johndane9754 Probably just a reliable weapon to cover the lack of long range they have if they are using a melee focused build I'm guessing. Whilst maybe most veteran players maybe want to use heavy hitters like the Plasma Gun, Bolt Gun or Helbore lasguns.
@@johndane9754build balance for pub runs essentially. The most commonly built and seen setups in pub matches are armor and single target centric. So running a zealot with a horde strong crit melee synergizes well with a shooter trash mob cleanup lasgun in most random team compositions. It's essentially a flexible trash mob focus build to plug the gap in everyone's anti-elite or specialist build
@@johndane9754 Cause every time I grab a flamer as a zealot it sends out a high frequency whistle that I can't hear that lets all my veteran, pysker, and ogryn teammates know to absolutely under no circumstances deal with long range threats even though they're totally equipped for it.
I have a 377 MG XII with opening salvo and it’s amazing. I can one tap bombers, bursters, gunners, trappers, flamers, and hounds easily. 4-5 shots for a reaper and 3-4 for a mutant. Insanely useful imo
Not a huge fan of Opening Salvo myself, as it takes to long to re-activate. The MG XII can already one shot those and most units without it as well, so your time to kill numbers on larger units like reapers will generally be much faster with headhunter/deadly accurate.
@@TheWileSpice it used to activate every time you aimed in, so you can sorta quick scope for a flat damage bonus which I like, I haven’t tested it post patch though so maybe it’s changed since. Kind of annoying though, as soon as I get a great MG XII it’s no longer meta 😂 Edit: tested it and opening salvo no longer works when quickscoping :(
Thanks so much for making this video. I am an avid Emperor's Flashlight user my self. I was on hiatus for almost a year and recently came back to the game. I was convinced the XII was the best Lasgun, until I watched this video. I was unaware the other variants were buffed now, that's great news. I will definitely be making a IV and 1a variants now. 👍
I think the other thing that needs to be mentioned here is the how resource intensive each weapon is (ammo consumption). Another thing worth mentioning is instead of finishing the left tree. Go for Reciprocity on the right for another 25% crit chance almost effectively giving you 100% crit, the "dodge proc" is very often.
Aye, have discovered the MG IV uses 2 ammo per shot over 3 that the other variants use. But generally it does not matter with the shock troop talent. & I definitely prefer the flat damage boost personally of finishing the left, will be more useful over the course of a match as the weapon crits a lot already.
Id recommend playing out Reciprocity and really maintaining the stacks. It takes very little effort to keep up, sometime you get procs just by sprinting. Maintaining the higher crit rate keeps your ammo high and constant use of deadly accurate@@TheWileSpice
@@TheWileSpice thank you very much, to be honest I don’t know the difference between some of the guns. I’m a bit new and haven’t gotten them all but seeing the difference would be nice.
Autofire mod is something people might wish to look into. Save your fingers. Save your mouse. Devs are completely ok with it and its better than any macro.
Thoughts on using a Lasgun as a Zealot? I got a lot of derision in the Zealot discord chat for asking how to make a good build with one, as it's deemed "Not a Zealot Weapon". Would love to use the newly buffed 1a instead of an infantry autogun.
I'd say ignore them. The Lasgun can provide a solution for long range engagements you need to take, gunners & snipers for example. You can me melee focused but having the Infantry Lasgun as your sidearm will eliminate those foes. If you like it, run with it.
I'm so glad for this build. I don't even main Veteran anymore, but just knowing that, as a zealot with a dagger and snub pistol, I might not have to kill all the ranged units anymore, it is soup for my soul.
btw if ur gonna be using the infantry version get the full auto mod it allows u to just press and hold and fully auto the semi-auto rifles it acts as a auto clicker for ya so its within the guidelines from fatshark

I prefer the 1a now with the MkIV still being my least favorite. I have heard the MkIV is quite fun to use if you download a mod that lets it fire full auto. I don’t think you need to run headhunter if using the gun on a Psyker. True aim and scrier’s gaze offer enough crit letting you take infernus for more damage.
I'm surprisingly having a lot of fun using the Ia, my finger does take a workout though. I'm not a fan of infernus personally because usually your target is very much dead before infernus ticks do any tangible damage.
Will mention as a bonus piece of information, the MG 12 has better unyeilding ADM, so it performs better into ogryns and bosses, so it sacrifices some dps to instead have better breakpoints and boss damage comparative to the others. Its a nice play off between the 3
Randomly started using lasguns on my veteran for the first time ever because the emperor gave me a decent MG IV. I found it fun but too reliant on carpal tunnel inducing fire rate. So I built an MG XII and liked the punch but wasn't loving the slow speed. Built up an MG Ia and had my Goldilocks "just right" moment. For the first time in this game I feel like a proper ranged veteran. Not constantly withholding shots for ammo preservation, etc. basically shooting all game long until I have to use melee when it gets hectic. Real fun
The 3 infantry lasguns dealing similar damage-per-second is probably the perfect scenario, with the faster firing semi-auto weapons just a tiny bit better when you don't round the numbers. If you're willing to click THAT fast, you should be doing a bit more. While the slower firing shots should be more likely to pop heads when used accurately.
Yup I totally agree. Means people have the ability to viable choose whichever they prefer best because the difference between them is so little on paper!
My personal favourite is the Kantrael XII, but I find that the more matches I play, the more my arm starts hurting. That is why I have started dabbling in Accatrans. I know I should be running the MK VI with the 16 stacks of rending on hits, and the higher DPS, but I feel bad consuming that much ammo. Thus I am running the MK VII now. Sadness. The worst part of this is how much I love the sights on the Kantrael relative to the sights on the Accatran.
My experience has been the opposite regarding ADS of Kantrael vs Accatran pattern lasguns. While the holographic/reflex sight on the Kantrael's are nice, the iron sights on the Accatran models are very familiar to me from other games and airsoft. The Accatran sights also felt nore responsive and snappy to move around, whereas many other weapons are slower to acquire a new target without returning to hip-fire aiming first.
Currently using IAG Mk4 with Infernus for a generalist build (Voice of Command). Feels amazing to use. I don't even feel the need to take Shock Trooper. Also, thank god for Full Auto mod.
one thing i dont think he mentiond is fact the green and tan one consume 3 ammo per shot while the blue only consumes 2, so its ammo economy is higher as well even if it does a lil lesser dmg, same is true for the recon versions, the blue consumes 1 ammo and rest consume 2
@@TheWileSpice oh yes quite a long time, oh and another shock trooper triggers on crit even if you miss, if the shot would of been a crit its free even if you missed it, tho mind you with blessings and buffs its obiously more criting if you hit something and weakspots etc. try it in the training area just fire off into space and some shots will be free (tho spose that last bits not to helpful but eh)
Getting back into Darktide after a long hiatus. This is very useful to know; I'd always favored the MG IV but tended to avoid it due to the over-dominance of the XII. Ever since coming back though, my decently-rolled MG IV has been a delight. Taking only two ammo units to fire instead of three, alongside Shock Trooper, means it's always got ammo to spare, and it just feels nimbler and more responsive with the dramatically higher firing rate. Now if only my old Recon lasgun didn't feel like a foam dart launcher...seem to've traded away Recons being good for MG IVs being good, sad day.
Yeah the MG IV is an underrated beast. It has the potential to one shot so many units whilst being so nimble as you said. Makes it feel very rewarding and fun to use.
For the Infantry Lasguns, the only good damage blessings lend to headshots really. Practice makes perfect so get trying for those headshots! You could go Infernus, but it will deliver mediocre damage.
Can I ask where the Lucius comes in on this front? I've been honestly shocked how much I've liked it from when I picked it up. The fire rate doesn't really lose out to the MG12 and the added versatility of the charge shot and bayonet work wonders.
I think the MG XII is better rounded than the Lucius, will perform better over a match and has the big bonus of a better sight. But the Helbore Mk III is incredibly good against Carapace where the MG XII is ineffective. So the Lucius is a solution to all if you don't mind the sights, but it won't do as much dps overall.
I love the mg 12 as i enjoy nailing headshots and 2 or 3 follow up pending on the target and the 4 just dosent kill consistently for me while the 1a is a compromise fornthe 12s knock the enemy down and and excute them
Recently I've surprisingly the MG IV the most consistent. With Executioners Stance it has a lot of 1 shot breakpoints, so if you're hitting them with the fast spam you can have an extremely high damage output. The ammo efficiency with Shock Trooper also means you can shoot hordes as well & since these weapons pierce through a couple (not all) of horde unit types, you can do a lot of work.
@@TheWileSpice i discover accidentaly because my second mouse is broken , i agree with you, XII was the best because you save ammo per shot and force you aim and make every shot counts, but with the new skill "laser gun" helps the use of other "flashlightguns" .One think with XII ,if you kill a weak enemy like poxwalker with headshot, the shot pierce enemies, so is possible with a good shot kill few poxwalkers, it is still a good weapon rewards good aim.
I think we are going to need an update for this build. Every time I do a search for Kantrael the shotgun comes up since the Vetran's patch. At least a gameslantern link please Sah.
Mk i lucius with the blessings of 10% chance crit every .3 seconds aiming down sights stacking to 10 and the faster charge on consecutive charge shots works wonders when you want to use this build and larp as a krieger at the same time
@@TheWileSpice it really is, one shots most enemies, absolutely cleaves demonhosts when they're busy sucking out someone's soul, and the bayonet shreds most light enemies and will spike a dog in one hit to the noggin. Fantastic with the krieg skin.
Isn’t Deadly Accurate quite a poor blessing due to the way critical hit and weak spot damage is calculated? Whatever damage bonus you have it only applies to the crit/weakspot damage not the entire damage itself. So if the crit/weakspot only added lets say 50+ damage and you have a +25% damage buff it’d only be 12.5+ damage to be 62.5 total. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Not at all. So for example (I've just tested it now on a Reaper so this is Approx numbers). Both weapons have 80% damage rolls and this was only using Deadly Accurate 3 (90% Damage buff), 4 would have an extra 10%. The one without Deadly Accurate deals 1625 crit weakspot damage, the one WITH Deadly Accurate dealt 2289. So thats an extra 664 damage which is huge for breakpoints. You are correct that Deadly Accurate appears to (effectively) double the weakspot crit damage only. But once you stack up all of the weakspot damage bonuses we get from the tree then the blessing itself. It all adds up to make a very large difference.
It allows the Lasguns to kill Dreg ranged enemies in 1 less shot. I usually focus on clearing ranged enemies so it makes a very noticeable difference during play.
@@TheWileSpice I'll take a look but in my (completely uneducated and unprofessional) opinion unarmored feels like one of those things you should be able to break point without dmg bonus, and maniacs are extremely disruptive and cover a wide array of enemies
Maybe its changed recently maybe not. But you dont mention penetration. Another reason the mg12 is the king is because it penetrates through more targets per shot than the other 2.
VId recon lasgun has netted me most damage in every single round i've played since i've downloaded the scoreboard mod. It's been throwing out very consistent stats. Extremely useful vs chaff and specialists/elites, struggles with carapace and bosses/unyielding, but it really gets rid of damage dealers that are scattered around.
The value in the MG12 isn't in the DPS. It's that the rate of fire lets the sight recenter back to exactly where you had it on the next shot without having to re-aim. The 1a and 4 bounce too much and you have to adjust for that. But really, I've moved on to Recon Lasguns. Wtih their buff they let you clear hordes and still hit hard enough to kill the harder targets.
The Ia actually doesn't bounce, it resets perfectly now too. Might be dependant on a decent stability roll. The 4 only does extremely minorly now. Not sure if they shadow buffed it, but its barely noticeable. I've yet to try the Recons properly, so I'll reserve my judgement until I do!
What would you recommend I’m trying to run a similar build for a recon lasgun? Or is a RLG even viable for higher tier runs like damnation and auric? Is it worth running compared to the kantreal MG’s, cause I love all of them but the RLG is so much fun to just unload with.
Not sure about the others types, but for the Infantry Lasguns it feels as if you pretty much have infinite ammo. Might have to pick up 1 or 2 small ones in the whole run if you go really hard with it.
The Accatran don't because they shoot to quickly & I don't think the Lucius doesnt seem to crit as much. Still Shock Troop let's them shoot for a lot longer overall.
MGIa is also easier to control and it's not affected by sway/moving (haven't check stability stats for them tho) as much as MGXII it feels, or atleast it's not so crucial for Ia cause of fire rate. Plus Infernus makes sense on Ia unlike on XII, one curio for 3 stamina to get some longativity for new Deadshot and crits go brrrrrr.
It definitely feels as if they have reduced is recoil/increased its stability marginally. Maybe thats dependant on having a high stability roll on the weapon? The ones I tested with all have over 70%.
@@TheWileSpice it's not rolls, just stability modifier stat caps are better for MG Ia. So i checked them and for example ADS while moving recoil for MG Ia is 6.03-4.07, for MGXII 16,14-9,6. So at 80% stability it will be ~x2,5 better for MG la (since maxed cap is for 100% we can't reach). Sway is better for Mg la aswell, spread is the same.
Nothing solid yet, I would go for the one on my latest Helbore Lasgun video, at least until the Exhilarating Takedown talent is fixed! Once that is fixed I'll be able to get a solid one done.
While i agree that the mg1a and mk IV are way better, i believe you are selling the MG XII short since it does reach a lot of one shot break points the others doesnt, and while dps is nice, so is one shot breakpoints.
Oh I do mention that due to its one shot potential it is by no means a bad weapon and its still very good for the hardest difficulty. Just that because the Ia meets a lot of one shot breakpoints now to its slightly outshined. But it's like a 24 karat diamond outshining a 23.9 karat.
@@TheWileSpice yea the 1a has gotten a really nice spot now where its about equal to the MGXII, love the video btw good to see some good people jumping into the darktide content creation pool.
Any of Flak/Maniac/Unarmoured are good! My Curios aren't really optimised for best play as I have Ordo Docket boost on all of them. But I usually have 1x HP & 2x Toughness or 2x HP & 1x Toughness, with Stamina regen on all 3, and then various damage resistances.
Honestly I heabily disagree with going that far down the left tree in this build. I think cutting the points from ammo down and putting that into getting competitive spirit and far more importantly rending strikes in the middle tree is not only better, more consistent damage for your lasgun but also for your melee weapon as well
Personally, considering in Auric the game spams specialists, you can have the Marksman buff up almost 100% of the time because you get 6s cooldown for a specialist kill & you can reactivate Executioners Stance while it's already active, giving you the 50% weakspot power buff back. Which us much more valuable imo. I think the rending buff adds negligible damage to the Lasguns in comparison.
Thank you!! 2.5k has sprung around so fast I've been caught off-guard. Might have to reserve the epic battle for 3k. (May the Emperor bless my frame rate that day).
Hahaha, sometimes things gotta be different for balancing. I prefer the feel the recoil gives over them making the weapons weaker to account for it not moving at all per shot like the recon lasguns.
For all of the lasguns abysmal failures, it’s without a doubt one of the best infantry handheld firearms where yes there are more advanced and powerful options out there such as the vulkite calivier which is basically a typical heat ray, to even the star treck phaser or even imperial disruptor weapons, or hell even the necrom gauss flayer is OP by comparison and yet the lasgun far out performs almost anything else in existence and again to reiterate yes there are better and more powerful weapons, but for a bog standard infantry weapon that’s powerful, incredibly reliable, pinpoint accurate can be upgraded into a sniper or even a double battles LMG, or downgraded for a carbine or pistol, all the while being capable with the same magazines and the lasguns ease of manufacturing and streamlined logistics means that an entire crusade could effectively be carried out with one type of ammunition, not to mention that lasgun power packs can be readily recharged via a dedicated charging station in a barracks or even from the back of a chimera and in a pinch even from a fire, and whilst yes as I said before there are more advanced and powerful weapons out there, but for every single one of those there’s a hundred lasguns, for every e11 blaster there’s fifty lasguns and considering that the lasgun be be marginally used by some stone aged barbarian who might use it more as a club rather than a gun, to the pin point accuracy of say a cadian shock trooper and given that the lasgun has more or less faced and bested practically any and all enemies it’s encounter such as the hyper advanced tau or eldar to the magical and sorcerous necrom, to human empire that would put most other sci fi factions to shame, simply because the lasgun is so dam good at the three things it’s made to do Kill the enemy Be cheap in resources and time Be reliable and durable And it excels in all three categories. If the lasgun can’t kill its opponents then simply send in more of them until they’re literally being drowned in lasbolts If there’s not enough lasguns to go around then simply cut corners or use more slave labor If it stops working then simply use the bayonet it comes with or use it as a club And it’s not too surprising to note that most lasguns tend to outlive their users 😂
I have a Krieg build on my channel already! Though its minorly outdated already. Got another Krieg video coming soon! Plasma Gun (Bolt Gun mainly) build coming tomorrow.

Its essentially a condition that allows a weapon to do something with 1 less action. So if a weapon kills a Scab Gunner in 5 shots, then you put a +25% flak damage perk on it and it now lets you kill it in 4 shots. That would be classed as a breakpoint.

Nothing being changed while all enemies get a buff means the weapon was nerfed, relatively speaking.
It is not bad, the author of the video talking BS
The mg12 has been powercrept because the mg1a is only doing roughly doing only 30-40 less dps than the 12.
And frankly it does need abit more damage to actually get closer to the other lasguns
Ever since the full auto mod was released, the MG IV has been my favorite ranged weapon! If you want to play with the MG IV, I highly recommend the full auto mod
I think I might have to invest in that, for my own health hahaha.
This. Spare your wrist, get the mod.
@@Saberlena I'll check it out hahaha.
Yes, i tried it with this mg IV, it feels like a hotshot lasgun. Do it as your viewer demands it.
@@SaberlenaWhere do I get the mod?
I have always loved my 1a variant since launch, I got it as a reward for my first Damnation run with a juicy 378 Base stat.
And it's nice to have my old reliable to get more love with these recent updates.
Nice! Your sentimental weapon is a beats now!
For some reason the majority user for the lasguns have been zealots. I've yet to be told why.
Kind of annoying though, as soon as I get a great MG XII it’s no longer meta 😂
Edit: tested it and opening salvo no longer works when quickscoping :(
Thanks so much for making this video. 👍
Thanks for watching!! They're all very well balanced now so definitely get the other two in your arsenal!
As a pre buff 1A enjoyer, i see this as an absolute win
Christmas came early!
Great video thank you man !!! Will you do this with the headhunters and autoguns too pls ???

Are you planning on doing a post patch plasma build?
Glad you enjoyed! I definitely am planning to do a post patch Plasma build. I have a long list at the moment though so may take me a few weeks!
I just wish the kantreal lasguns were full auto to save my fingers the strain
Hahaha, there is a mod to make them full auto apparently. I've been putting my fingers through the strain though
@@TheWileSpice I just use an auto clicker but even then sometimes I don’t wanna deal with it and use other weapons
Autofire mod is something people might wish to look into. Save your fingers. Save your mouse. Devs are completely ok with it and its better than any macro.
I've not gotten it yet, but I need to!
Hahaha, trying to get more shooter vets into your games for you!!
on my vet I have all las weapons so if "Patches Happen" I'm prepaired :)
Always good to be prepared!! Nice buffs definitely came through this patch, so it was worth it!

it's funny to see how "critical hits from laser weapons dont consume ammo" talent works even if you dont hit anything and just shoot the sky
Hahaha yeah, just needs a critical shot. I ain't complaining though!
As a Helbore purist, I see this as an absolute win.
Better balance means everyone wins!
Will mention as a bonus piece of information, the MG 12 has better unyeilding ADM, so it performs better into ogryns and bosses, so it sacrifices some dps to instead have better breakpoints and boss damage comparative to the others. Its a nice play off between the 3
Does indeed have good Unyielding stats! Definitely see it when fighting bosses, though for Ogryn the difference isn't much.
I feel like personally, one form of grenade regen is too nice for QOL for me to pass up.
Thats fair! I'm not personally to bothered about grenades so just shove everything into the primary weapon.
If you're on PC, people are mentioning theres a mod that lets you use the Kantrael's fully automatic, that could solve your issue!
@@TheWileSpice Wouldn't that be cheating? Or at least make me incompatible with vanilla game matchmaking? o.o
My dyslexia made me think the title of this video said "The BEST lasagna is"
Currently using IAG Mk4 with Infernus for a generalist build (Voice of Command). Feels amazing to use. I don't even feel the need to take Shock Trooper.
Also, thank god for Full Auto mod.
It is a lot of fun to use! I've not got the full auto mod yet, but will definitely be trying it out hahaha.
If you dont want to develop arthritis within a month do NOT pick up the lightest(blue) variant. Need an auto clicker mod to run that bad boy.
To be fair, a few years of League of Legends in my younger days prepared me for this weapon
one thing i dont think he mentiond is fact the green and tan one consume 3 ammo per shot while the blue only consumes 2, so its ammo economy is higher as well even if it does a lil lesser dmg, same is true for the recon versions, the blue consumes 1 ammo and rest consume 2
I did not mention that! I didn't know that so thats funky to know. Paired with Shock Trooper & the blessings you can shoot for a very long time!
@@TheWileSpice oh yes quite a long time, oh and another shock trooper triggers on crit even if you miss, if the shot would of been a crit its free even if you missed it, tho mind you with blessings and buffs its obiously more criting if you hit something and weakspots etc. try it in the training area just fire off into space and some shots will be free (tho spose that last bits not to helpful but eh)
cannot MG XII shoot through multiple targets if they are lined up ?
It can, but only through a few units. Groaners & Poxwalkers. And the heads of any shooters that aren't Flak I believe.
Makes it feel very rewarding and fun to use.
i always liked the KANTRAEL blue prefere the bigger faster rate of shooting
Yeah I'm thoroughly enjoying it at the moment as well! Feels great to shoot wildly.
If im struggling to hit the headshots, is there a recommended build? Besides just git gud 😁
There is a glitch allow you shot more faster with XII, simple change constaly to aim/normal mode and cooldown reset.
Interesting, will have to try this out before its fixed?!
Great video and analysis! You think this build could work with a Laspistol? It feels so much better this patch as well!
For sure! I'm not sure what the optimal blessings/perks are for the pistol, but the build should work a treat for it :)
@@TheWileSpicemy favourite combination on the laspistol is the burn on crit and raking fire for that true commissar feel.

Very helpful info!
Braced autoguns when?
Glad it was helpful!
Got a lot to get through, but they're on the list!
hmm the fast shot one doesnt get more ammo does it? If it doesnt then slower fire rate is better in the longrun if ammo is ever a concern.
I think we are going to need an update for this build. Every time I do a search for Kantrael the shotgun comes up since the Vetran's patch. At least a gameslantern link please Sah.
Fear not, a new build video is on the way!
Mk i lucius with the blessings of 10% chance crit every .3 seconds aiming down sights stacking to 10 and the faster charge on consecutive charge shots works wonders when you want to use this build and larp as a krieger at the same time
Yep, thats the perfect Helbore setup! & does work a treat with this build.
@@TheWileSpice it really is, one shots most enemies, absolutely cleaves demonhosts when they're busy sucking out someone's soul, and the bayonet shreds most light enemies and will spike a dog in one hit to the noggin. Fantastic with the krieg skin.
What curios did you use? And stats on it?
1x 21% HP and 2x 17% Toughness for the main stats. 1 of all damage resistances, 2 +5% HP and 1 stamina regeneration for the perks
Question; what would be the god roll for the Kantreal MG 1a? Stat-wise, I mean.
80% Damage > Stopping Power > Stability / Ammo (order of priority)
60% Mobility
Would be your god roll!
it's the Kantrael MK12. Always has been. always will be.
Maybe should finish the video, because it's just straight up not anymore =o
The Ia will do more damage and kill more things on average over the course of a match over the 12 after the buffs. 12 is still very strong though.
@@TheWileSpiceSo I see. Why Unarmored over Maniac?
It allows the Lasguns to kill Dreg ranged enemies in 1 less shot. I usually focus on clearing ranged enemies so it makes a very noticeable difference during play.
@@TheWileSpice I'll take a look but in my (completely uneducated and unprofessional) opinion unarmored feels like one of those things you should be able to break point without dmg bonus, and maniacs are extremely disruptive and cover a wide array of enemies
Playing the gun you enjoy without min maxing and compensating dps with skill is the way to go :D
Yup! As I mention, for most people they're practically the same so its all about which is the most fun!
Maybe its changed recently maybe not. But you dont mention penetration. Another reason the mg12 is the king is because it penetrates through more targets per shot than the other 2.
I had forgotten! All 3 variants penetrate through the same targets now, so no longer something the XII holds over the other two.
I've yet to try them all properly since the buffs but I'm curious to see what they're like.
@@TheWileSpice A lot more enjoyable, that's for sure.
Thnk u it will help alot
My pleasure!
I'm not to sure at the moment as I haven't tried them yet since the buffs. Historically the Infantry Lasguns outclassed them in all areas though.
@@TheWileSpice That's about what I expected to hear, I may be on the copium but I just wanna find a way to make the RLG as viable as possible. XD
My kantrael mk 12 is never leaving these hands.
Okay maybe I'll try the 1a
Hahaha, honestly you may really like it now its been buffed. I felt the same, until I was blown away by its performance.
what about ammo consumption and all that? Can you go full shooting with all the lassguns now?
Not sure about the others types, but for the Infantry Lasguns it feels as if you pretty much have infinite ammo. Might have to pick up 1 or 2 small ones in the whole run if you go really hard with it.
@@TheWileSpice that's great! Good to know! Does the lucious and accatran also have that infinite ammo?
The Accatran don't because they shoot to quickly & I don't think the Lucius doesnt seem to crit as much. Still Shock Troop let's them shoot for a lot longer overall.
@@TheWileSpice wow, thank you for the insight! :)
@@weepingmoon1159 Well I'll be damned, the Ia keeps getting better.
Last patch I spended 6k plasteel and 100k ordo dokets to make my perfect mk12 and now is not the best anymore😂😂😂
Hahaha, it's still a beast so don't be disheartened!!
Do you have new build for the patch?
Nothing solid yet, I would go for the one on my latest Helbore Lasgun video, at least until the Exhilarating Takedown talent is fixed! Once that is fixed I'll be able to get a solid one done.
The main advantage of the MG XII is that you most likely won't need to make a follow up shot as long as you hit the head
It does have that strength, but the Ia holds the same strength a lot of the time now too. Especially when using Executioners Stance!
Yeah, all in all a good balance state for the Infantry Lasguns! & Thank you! Will hopefully keep improving over time! :)
Hello very Good!
But i have a Question.
Which perks must have the Lasgun and which curios you hat? Thx!!!
Can you do an update for the most recent updates in the game
Grats on 2.5k subs my man, does this mean you'll face off against 2500 of us in the meat grinder this time? 😎
Thank you!! 2.5k has sprung around so fast I've been caught off-guard. Might have to reserve the epic battle for 3k. (May the Emperor bless my frame rate that day).
Doesn't the brown heavy one have punchthrough though? Or do all of them?
They all punch through "Newly Infested" which are unarmoured horde units, but not Poxwalkers & also a couple of the basic shooters as well.
@@TheWileSpice Oh gotcha, thanks!
Wish they give all Lasguns a chance to use a Bayonet
they say the lasgun are just flashlight in 40k, now is more reliable than the bolter . they fear the red flashlight.....
Yeah! I wish the Bolter was buffed a little bit more. Still feels weaker compared to other options.
I hate that there's no automatic fire mode for these guns when in lore they have auto, burst and semi options.
It is annoying! Theres a mod to make them fire fully automatic
the mg IV seems to have an almost full auto fire rate
Yeah its on the border of it! Not sure why they didn't give it an automatic trigger to be honest.
Still can't get over how dumb a recoil on a laser weapon is.
Hahaha, sometimes things gotta be different for balancing. I prefer the feel the recoil gives over them making the weapons weaker to account for it not moving at all per shot like the recon lasguns.
For all of the lasguns abysmal failures, it’s without a doubt one of the best infantry handheld firearms where yes there are more advanced and powerful options out there such as the vulkite calivier which is basically a typical heat ray, to even the star treck phaser or even imperial disruptor weapons, or hell even the necrom gauss flayer is OP by comparison and yet the lasgun far out performs almost anything else in existence and again to reiterate yes there are better and more powerful weapons, but for a bog standard infantry weapon that’s powerful, incredibly reliable, pinpoint accurate can be upgraded into a sniper or even a double battles LMG, or downgraded for a carbine or pistol, all the while being capable with the same magazines and the lasguns ease of manufacturing and streamlined logistics means that an entire crusade could effectively be carried out with one type of ammunition, not to mention that lasgun power packs can be readily recharged via a dedicated charging station in a barracks or even from the back of a chimera and in a pinch even from a fire, and whilst yes as I said before there are more advanced and powerful weapons out there, but for every single one of those there’s a hundred lasguns, for every e11 blaster there’s fifty lasguns and considering that the lasgun be be marginally used by some stone aged barbarian who might use it more as a club rather than a gun, to the pin point accuracy of say a cadian shock trooper and given that the lasgun has more or less faced and bested practically any and all enemies it’s encounter such as the hyper advanced tau or eldar to the magical and sorcerous necrom, to human empire that would put most other sci fi factions to shame, simply because the lasgun is so dam good at the three things it’s made to do
Kill the enemy
Be cheap in resources and time
Be reliable and durable
And it excels in all three categories.
If the lasgun can’t kill its opponents then simply send in more of them until they’re literally being drowned in lasbolts
If there’s not enough lasguns to go around then simply cut corners or use more slave labor
If it stops working then simply use the bayonet it comes with or use it as a club
And it’s not too surprising to note that most lasguns tend to outlive their users 😂
The Emperors flashlight is truly an iconic weapon of 40k isn't it!
MG XII is still my go-to cuz my fingers hurt after using the others 😅
Hahaha completely fair! There is a mod to make them full auto apparently which may help finger fatigue!

Unfortunately, under explaining their own base game mechanics is a trait for FatShark (The game developer). Even to the point where some things have descriptions that just aren't accurate or don't explain 70% of what something does.
Is there something specific about Ammo Economy thats stunted you?
@@TheWileSpice When I started I never had any ammo. Like at all. I used my shovel for 90% of the hive. I already watched some videos about how to efficiently build into the veteran. I just want to shoot things. It's not like I dislike melee combat. But I feel I have to scrounge way to much for ammo during a run. I am playing on the third difficulty now and my team usually barely makes it to the extraction.
Again new players from Gamepass. I feel like I just do not understand enough how this game actually works. It's insanely fun and I definitely going to grind to 30. Maybe I give lascanons another go.
Also how does weapons rating work? I upgraded my guns when I was around level 20 and I feel like I shoot myself in the foot. Should I wait until 30 and then started to upgrade? I got a bolter at level 14 and it maxed out at a rating of 290. Like what. Why so low.
If I could give you a video suggestions. Make a comprehensive guide for all the Gamepass people. Because this game is really overwhelming. I want to perform better and have a better clearing rate for my runs
Fatshark went to college for 7 years to earn their degree in Applied Not Explaining Shit and by god they're going to use it mister. Stop complaining.
what about the full auto version?
Not sure about the Recon Lasguns as I haven't used them since Patch 14 yet. Need to try them all out & see how good/bad they are!
Anyone ever tell you that you kinda sound like Guru Larry?
Never hahaha. I would have thought he sounds too southern in comparison.
What does break point mean? You referenced it many times, never heard the terminology.
Its essentially a condition that allows a weapon to do something with 1 less action. So if a weapon kills a Scab Gunner in 5 shots, then you put a +25% flak damage perk on it and it now lets you kill it in 4 shots. That would be classed as a breakpoint.
@@TheWileSpice Thank you for the explanation! I'm now subscribed.
@@TheRoboJesus No problem, welcome to the club!!
Please update this for Patch 15.
It's on the way!
still using the helbore
They are beasts in their own right!
Fuck, and i just got a high 12 roll
Hahaha, don't worry, the 12 is still great!
Nah, i still go with the lasguns that have torrent. Cant beat letting lose a clip of 100+ ammo in less than 5 secs lol
Tis indeed fun using the recon lasguns. Not a massive fan myself.
The mg 12 feels better than the 1a when playing a stealthy sniper build
I can imagine the higher damage per shot works better for sneaking around and going for a burst of damage,
@@TheWileSpiceexactly, depends on how you play like you said
forget numbers, i pick the slow one to avoid carpal tunnel
Hahaha, there's apparently a mod to make the others full auto.
Las pistol dum dum +infernus is my go to fast strong try it 😉
Laspistol is definitely a beast. Got something separate cooking including it!
Why not take Krak to beat carapace?
I prefer to be a full shooter. Can bring a Combat Axe to deal with carapace if the team can't.
Rapid fire.
Its a lot of fun using the faster variant I agree
Pfft. Recon Lasgun because BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Now these are good and all...but it aint the plasma gun
Plasma Gun is a league of its own for sure!
@@TheWileSpice especially with that 100 cleave buff, I never seen so many maulers, crushers and bulwarks fall to the might of the plasma gun
