This is my newest recipe and favorite for pain relief: ua-cam.com/video/gm_UN7sTfqg/v-deo.html
I have to tell you how much I appreciate you for always acknowledging everyone that comes here. Your videos are the best I have found anywhere on the internet!
Tincture is dry herb strength of 1:5, 1 herb, 5 alcholic or hydro-alcoholic...........An Extract is generally done with fresh herb if possible. Liquid Extract is 1:2 of dry or fresh. This is generally picking fresh, drying then process. 1 part herb 2 of your wine...Fresh Plant Fluid Extracts use the Freshly picked and are done by weight/volume 1:1. Extract purpose is to bring the Extract to as close to an actual plant as possible, in smell, taste, color... Excellent book is Naturopathic Handbook of Herbal Formulas. It will show you the other types of Extracts using US Pharmacopoeia Extracts which is concentrated using vacumn and heat extractions, there are several of those. If you can't find the book I could take photos of the pages showing differences. Extracts are also the ones you would mix different herbs and can use the oils you like...The Author? is Herbal Research Publications. It has a lot of info on compounding as well. I have a lot of herb books, this is by far the most concise and thorough giving the formula, and everything that goes with it, including uses and doses, complimentary compounds, cautions etc. I love how it gives emphasis on the importance of healthy plants, Nature, working with the Mind and body of plant to bring out the healing elements.
Thank you Heidi ...I've recently really messed my back and ribs up and I'll be making your new formula..all I have is the valerian so if it wasn't for that I would get no sleep I get very little now as it is. You're the best thanks again ❤
This is the best video full of wonderful knowledge. I have to keep coming back to review. Wild lettuce is powerful but the sedative effects reduce its usefulness for daytime use. Doesn’t seem to have lingering drowsiness during the day if taken at night. Still waiting on My herbal patch to grow enough to make the pain tinctures. Excited to try. So want off opioids. I think my pain level contributes to my high blood pressure. Which may be normal natural reaction. You made me think about that differently.
What do you use for your beautiful skin
Eliminating sugar helped reduce my joint, foot and knee pain
Eliminating our thyroid medication almost 9 years ago got rid of my knee pain I was having and Patrick's shoulder pain
I noticed that when I eat dates in my oatmeal, the pain is worse.
@@ozzyoz5210 oh no! Dates are a great alternative to sugar and sweeteners.
Yes, too much sugar is quite inflammatory, especially where systemic yeast is an issue.

I need to try the painkillers for our 13 year old female JRT! I've been wanting to help her out more (besides her Source Plus supp), but didn't want to use pharmaceuticals.
As many know, shingles can be very painful. I made a strong lemon balm tea and applied it directly on the sores 2-3 times daily, then drank the rest of the cup of tea. The shingles dried up faster and the pain was greatly reduced. It has been used for all herpes outbreaks including fever blisters, genital outbreaks and chicken pox. Hope this helps someone.
Shingles aka Monkeypox.
@@tbryant6237 Not the same as shingles/chicken pox. Related to small pox. CDC and WHO have good info.
Recipe please 🙏🏾
That's so fantastic! I almost always have lemon balm dried and in the garden. Its a great anti viral. I used high doses of C and lLysene to turn my outbreak around. One arm was covered and very painful. Even though my remedy started healing the sores immediately, it took almost 3 weeks for the pain to go away. Wish I'd known about lemon balm!
@@misssugacoco Just add a lot of lemon balm to a tea pot (maybe half a cup to a cup), saturate w boiling water and strain. Use that tea on your arm and internally is what she seems to be saying.
Yes God is good all the time.
Critically important when you take turmeric is to combine it with black pepper and something with a lot of fat in it. These two things are a must for absorbing turmeric. I put whole milk and black pepper and the turmeric but also add cinnamon because the flavor for golden milk is very strong. It does work though. 👍
It is not as important as you think to take with black pepper and/or fat, though yes, the piperine DOES help increase the uptake, there are many things that help, which is good because many people cannot take black pepper due to allergies or other health issues. I go over the many things that turmeric can be combined with to increase its bioavailability in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Fyxi_wM6xos/v-deo.html
I have been told of the recipe for golden milk by an Indian guru and it included a little almond oil which would increase your fat for absorption of the tumeric.
@@annieb8928 I think you can use any type of natural oil like coconut or almond (as long as it isn't one of those than boosts inflammation) to catalyze absorption.
I found combining it with milk to be fine but I quit using turmeric because when I had a CAT scan they told me there was a kidney stone although it's asymptomatic. It was measured 4 mm which is below what usually causes issues.
We use Ghee it part of our Vedic.

I wanted to share my experience with you.
Thank you for sharing the recipe for the tumeric spice capsules. I did tweek the measurements a little but the same spices. I go through spurts of having migraine during the night and when I get up in the morning. The pain is horrible.
I put 2 capsules of the tumeric capsules in a cup of coffee, and within minutes, the pain is gone. 😊
My mind is refreshed and it seems to help my RA autoimmune condition.
Again. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Great video. Thanks. I’ve done so much better since eliminating fluoride, aluminum, sugar and sodium. I have incorporated Celtic sea salt or Himalayan pink sea salt. Having that a nurse who retired after 49 years of service I realize you cannot depend on the doctors or big Pharma for your health. Halfway into my nursing career I began studying God‘s natural healing❤
I randomly started having sinus issues. The headaches were horrible. I went to my local health food store and he put peppermint oil directly on my skin. Not one of those fancy name brand oils. I have never an issue with direct contact (not using a carrier) and honestly it was my saving grace! Love that I can watch these videos and learn more! Thanks!!!
I don't have a lot of issues either unless a number of hot oils are made together or I use to much of the hot oil in the area.
Ive used eucalyptus eo that way. Anti inflamatory. Ill try peppermint too.
My husband suffered mild headaches due to a heart medicine he was taking. Peppermint oil always alleviated his headaches. Always! It was a godsend. Happily he is no longer on the medication.
I love diffusing the frankincense in the morning during my "tea time with Jesus :-)
Thank you I think God led me to this video.
Hi Heidi, God is good all the time. Amen.❤
i stop eating and waterfast i cured a slipped disc at christmas in 4 days with waterfasting not a single toxic painkiller
Not eating cured a slipped disc??? What did the waterfast do? Float it back into place? Come on
@@rexcarebear4701 that’s exactly what happened Fasting really does heal but if you don’t know then you’d respond exactly as you did!!! Try it before you knock it!!! P.s. Ignorance is a crying SHAME
@@ralphcurry7002 I just finished a 40-day fast from food, and even though I was hypoglycemic before the fast, I actually became stronger during it! I no longer felt the pains of fibromyalgia, nor the chronic fatigue.
I strongly urge everyone that considers fasting this way, to NOT do it unless God has led you to do so. But when He does, He will also strengthen you to see it through.
@@ralphcurry7002I wouldn’t waste my precious time with ignorant people who speak on things that they don’t know. Fasting can cure any diseases, and ailments.
Hi Heidi, God is good all the time. Hallelujah.💖💖💖
Now in 2022 it is becoming more difficult to receive help with pain relief from doctors. I have heard of very difficult situations of where a patient is sent home from the hospital with only Tylenol. It is probably driven by the illegal drugs pouring in to our country and doctors don’t want to take risk. This forces each individual to search and research ways they can provide for self care. Saying all that to say thank you for reposting this 1 year video. I found it to be very informative.
I have so much pain with lupus and multiple autoimmune, the wild lettuce which I use as a triple tincture all winter, and eat raw all summer. It is my go too. I find the bitter is good for my digestion and my blood sugar when I eat raw. I also dry grind and use as capsules. By the way growing up my horse loved this stuff. And some of the herd would literally protect their patch.
Any suggestions where I can buy wild lettuce? I can’t find locally :( nor on Amazon
today I watched your video for the first time it's remarkable love shehla Nawaz from Pakistan 🇵🇰😀
Excellent video! You did a great description on the subject.
Dear Heidi, thank you so much for all your amazing videos. You are amazing.
I just came across your page to day. I love it!
I like your common sense discussion about herbs. I have used herbs since I was 16. I'm also an RN. I encourage every one to try one herb at a time as we are all different . Example ; I once tried a commercial product that contained both turmeric and ginger in a concentrated form. Later when using the toilet I experienced awful burning from the ginger. 😜🤣. For about 24 hours I dreaded the bathroom. I laugh about it now but I should have been more cautious . Go slow! 👌
Totally agree Shelia. I always use myself as a guinea pig before giving anyone else herbal preparations. An always start off with small amounts as you said.
Yup try new herbs one at a time and a little at a time. But I would have never expected that from ginger wow I'm glad I don't have that problem because I use ginger almost every day🤗
I take turmeric capsules every day for inflammation and back pain.
Once again THANK YOU for all the great information!
Thank you for another great video. Definitely need to listen again. I appreciate your input for staying healthy
Wow! I've started a notebook for all your great information. Thanks!

Hi everyone.!!
I’m new in prepping and this one of my top 5 channels that I get my info. Thank you for your dedication and time to make all this wonderful videos. God bless you all.!
Thanks for the book suggestions!!! I needed some books other than what my husband uses :)
Fantastic Information!
Gratitude & Appreciation 💫
Thanks to you ... Ive made a LOT of tinctures
I absolutely adore your channel
Thank you for the wonderful information! It’s so appreciated💕 I’m learning more and more.
I've been away a while but I am now contemplating moving full time to a homestead and your videos are an essential treasure trove!!!
Also, Lavender oil is fantastic directly onto bites and stings, immediately stops itching and has the additional benefit of acting as a repellent so it's having a double benefit. Tea tree used directly onto toenails for fungus as it is a natural anti fungal, takes some months as toenails take a lot longer to grow out than fingernails but tea tree oil is so much cheaper than shop bought treatments.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural things that our planet offers.
Thank you so much for that Tea Tree Oil tip. I had back surgery and went to physical therapy at a big health center. I ended up getting a toe nail infection. I dropped a can of veggies on my bare foot and it kinda cracked the nail. I didn’t think anything about it and went on to therapy in the pool and then I’d sit in the hot tub after. I showered there but I always kept flip flops on. So, somehow, either the pool or the hot tub gave me an infection on my injured toe. It has been years now. I get it to clear up and it comes back. Especially if I paint my toenails. I’ll take the polish off in about two weeks and there will be a black spot. Right now they look perfectly fine but I know it will come back! It’s so annoying. I’m for sure gonna try your suggestion. That is one thing I haven’t tried. Thanks again!
Bleach works use it 7 days gone toe fungus!
Your hair is beautiful!!!🐝
This was very informative. Thank you.
Hey Heidi & thank you for making all these videos on homemade pain extracts🥰
I love that you left the Frankenstein oops in the video. Natural is beautiful.
I made your muscle and pain rub. It is so great. It works very well with my back issues.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of herbalism I am just starting out and it can be so frustrating trying to find information I try to forage many of these plants in the wild. Your video has been by far one of the most informative and hopeful videos I have come across by far as of yet. Thank you so much.
I take turmeric and black pepper capsules for neuropathy pain.
Does that work well for neuropathy? I suffer so much from it and really am looking towards herbal meds recently
That combination should definitely help with inflammation.
I have Neropathy in my feet and legs. I'm taking CBD oil. Thanks for the tip. 😃 🙂 Its worth trying.
@@vogeltik I have severe diabetic poly neuropathy. I was able to stop taking Tramadol by adding Acetylene L-Carnitine!
@@eileenlester4342 I have neropathy from diabetes. I didnt know i had diabetes until I could not walk any further. The pain in my feet was unbearable. I now have my blood sugar under control but the Neropathy doesn't go away. I'll try that. Thank you 😊
Love what you do regards from Ireland
I grew a bunch of these, and also meadowsweet for pain relief, but i havent had a chance to harvest and dry them yet. We had a pretty miserable growing year! And a rainy one too. My marshmallow only got knee high ! But il come back to this in a few months for sure
One herb that's heavily recommended for inflammation that you don't mention is Devil's Claw Root. Of course, that's an African Herb, but it's commonly available from Mountain Rose.
Is it the same as Cat's Claw? I've been using Cat's Claw.
I’m glad you brought up wild lettuce. The problem I faced was, which one? There are several types. And also, the white sap is supposed to be the most powerful part, but the wild lettuce I’ve found, had no sap, or very little.
But, one thing that did help with pain in my neck & shoulder area, is peppermint oil. I was watching The Homegrown Gardener, Dr. Patrick Jones, & he recommended peppermint oil, either under your nose or at the back of your head, where your neck meets your head. That’s where I put it & it worked! My doctor wanted to give me injections in the area, & I didn’t want them, but the pain was getting so bad I almost said ok to him. Thank goodness for Dr. Jones! I think I’ll try it under my nose & see how that works.
Thank you so much for this information! My goal is to do what you are doing.
I did a search for “identifying wild prickly lettuce” and found several videos that were great for identifying them. I believe there are two types and both work well. I also believe that what time in the life cycle you harvest will yield more or less sap. But you can just use the entire plant and make a tincture or liniment. Either one will make good medicine. I use a liniment that I made, topically for osteoarthritis… works GREAT!
I've been looking into it a lot. I'm having trouble with apps and Google lens in getting a good ID on plants I suspect are wild lettuce. In my research, it seems that they are using the common names interchangeably between different species of lettuce. If I'm correct, and the I fo on the internet seems incomplete so I am relying on books too, the species Lactuca Virosa is the one called wild lettuce or opium lettuce and is the one with the more potent sap. Strangely, there is very little I can find on the internet to positively ID this species. Lactuca Seriolla people also call wild lettuce but it really should be called prickley lettuce. There is a 3rd species called Lactuca Canadensis. Both Seriolla and Canadensis are less potent than Virosa. I'm eyeing 2 weeds growing in my garden to see how the flowers bloom because it helps me be 100%sure that it is what I suspect it to be. And to harvest you wait for it to start blooming because it has its full height and potency then. Hope this helps.
Haha!! Frankenstein!! Great video. Thank you for the great information!
God is good 4 share! Thanks for sharing💛
You are a blessing thank you. 🙏🏻❤️
Wow you have all kind of knowledge here .....Great
I'm going to try to make some of that. I currently purchase my tumeric capsules and they work great!
Thanks for the info Queen!
Another stellar video Heidi.. much appreciated my friend! I personally have used Lavender EO for the last 10 years with amazing results in pain relief; that being said, I initially used it for Allergies.. yes, allergies 🤧 and still do. Appreciate ALL you do for our betterment ✨ Blessings to you and yours.
Great information! Thank you. 🌻🌿
OH man I need this sooo bad today..ty so much for sharing :)
Thanks for leaving Frankenstein in 😅. Needed a smile.😊
Arnica is also used by some plastic surgeons to keep bleeding to a minimum to keep scarring to a minimum Food for thought.
Prickly lettuce works great as a liniment.
I made a liniment with 50% isopropyl alcohol and put it in a spray bottle. It is effective on my osteoarthritis and my plantar fasciitis pain. (I use other things for the inflammation aspects) But prickly lettuce is very good for an almost instant pain reliever. I only use it topically. So no worries with other herbs or meds interfering or my gut.
Thanks a million
I can’t find any of the wild lettuce/family, any where I could order online?
@@doris8595 I don’t know if you can buy it. I just picked it. It’s a weed that grows literally everywhere. Google it. Once you know what it looks like, you start to notice it along the road, in the yard, parking lot edges. Etc.
Echinacea(the flower head) is just SO PRETTY!! It seems to be weeping
love that you kept the frankenstein flub in the video :) That was fun :)
New subscriber here, you are awesome and so helpful and I appreciate everything you do for all of us, especially those who don't have the money to buy medicine, I am currently studying natural herbs and meds in an online college course and I find it fascinating and I'm using what you are teaching me as I watch your videos daily about different ways to implement this in my own life and to help with my studies so thank you so much and praise God for sending you my way.
I collect willow bark in the spring. I cut last years growth and the bark slips off quite easily usually. It works great in a tea I make for my mother in law who suffers from arthritis pain. Takes pain away in 20 to 30 minutes.
How is the taste? I would assume a bark must taste better than a bitter herb
@@RainCountryHomestead it is somewhat bitter but with the spring sap flowing it sweetens it up some. The flowing sap also aids in the bark slipping off easily.
Would this be good for sciatic pain as well. I am having this sciatica and cannot walk properly because of it.
@@NansGlobalKitchen piriformis syndrome and sciatica have identical symptoms. Many doctors don’t know it so never ask questions or perform a simple test to understand which one is actually happening. Sciatica is an issue of a bone structure, usually a vertebrae, impinging the sciatic nerve. Piriformis syndrome is where a muscle is impinging the sciatic nerve. Massage can help with the latter. How to get help…. Request physical therapy. They know muscles and will know about piriformis syndrome. 😉
Disclaimer: this is not a diagnosis. Just information I have in my noggin from when I was a massage therapist that might help a fellow human. It would be upsetting to be treated for sciatica when all along a bit of massage could have helped. 💜
I suffer from migraine, do you have any information on this?Like so bad I get nausea and sick.

I already grow many medicinal herbs, but haven’t used them that way. I have had nasty allergic skin reactions to EO’s and any fragrance added to skincare, so I’ve always avoided them. I do like to diffuse, I just don’t put them on my skin. I do want to try making some anti inflammatory capsules, so I think when I grow hot peppers this year I’ll dehydrate them to make some. Thanks for the video Heidi. Good as always..
Any good herbalist likes to keep trying to find the perfect blend.. So we become an alchemist. And always with improving in mind.
My favorite topical pain reliever is St. John's Wort. It has been mostly thought of as a basic mood disorder remedy... however it is my favorite as a topical application for pain in the form of infused oil. In fact for me, it is really amazingly effective. I also will do a blend of infused St. John's Wort oil and infused comfrey oil to make a salve out of.
In addition I will often use topically Magnesium oil with what ever EO I desire use of.. Chamomile, or peppermint, or lavender.
It is so nice to have our pick of whatever we decided to work up when the bounty was there for the pickin during the summer.
Hi how are you was looking for your channel and had forgotten the name is channel good to see you!
I think it’s divine help that brought this video in my recommendations. I woke up today morning with menstral cramps that were very painful, i took some pain meds it didn’t help . Hot water bottle didn’t help, I was in so much pain, I was feeling nauseous too. I listened to the first 8 minutes and went to make some Tumeric and ginger tea with alittle black pepper for absorption. I sat down to drink my tea and in less than 10minutes I feel relief. Oh My God, I am so thankful. Thank you so much.
Hello, I saw your experience with extremely painful cramps and nausea and I just wanted to share with you that if it’s above normal pain levels and you’ve got other symptoms to ask a doctor about it. I suffered terribly for 20 years until it became debilitating. They said it’s endometriosis. I don’t want other women to suffer needlessly so just wanted to share with you. The Lord’s blessings to you.
Magnesium helps also
Been there, done that. Ran all kinds of (unnecessary) tests. Couldn't find anything wrong.
Also, some people just have crappy pain tolerance.
If it's worse than usual, however, it could just be a bad month. Maybe there's a (completely harmless!) cyst that will be gone by the following month. Maybe something you ate lately is affecting you. Maybe you're just more tired/stressed than you normally are. It could be anything, it could be nothing.

Hello Heidi!
I've also discovered that disease comes from toxicity; so it's a good idea to detox. An inexpensive way is to soak in the tub with epsom salts, which is a form of magnesium. Upon doing some research, you can find other detox methods to do at home. Many blessings!

an issue i've had is an allergic reaction to something i had previously not known was a concern. i was just starting to learn about herbs to help me with some health concerns. i had read in several spots that hops were good for women's health around menses so i tried it - i had in the past drank beer without reaction, but when i took straight hops i figured out i was allergic to hops and afterward had reactions to drinking beer. i have found a few things i've become allergic or sensitive to as i age. i advise trying small amounts at first and then if there is no reaction (except what is hoped for!) then continue.
Ooh I'd love to see your video on testing out the wild lettuce for medicinal purposes 👍💯
Yes, I realize this video is over a year old but so what. Still good info. I have been experimenting lately with lemon and peppermint oils applied topically for joint pain. They are working well.
Frankincense actually increases cortisol significantly we have found upon saliva testing. So study whether that is what you want or not. Short term, increased cortisol can be an anti-inflammatory but long term, increased cortisol can lead to belly fat and reduced immunity.
What kinda saliva test did you use??
@@reneespies4439 I sell adrenal saliva test kits and many others. The adrenal one tests for cortisol 4x per day
Prolonged increased cortisol also causes problems with memory loss which can often precursor cognitive impairment, dementia. There are ways to heal from prolonged increased cortisol but it’s been a long road. Thank you Heidi for your videos among many I’ve found on my journey 💜
@@jalenejohnson8484 prolonged increased cortisol usually results in adrenal fatigue, then exhaustion. If you were still in the stage of increased cortisol, you are blessed that it was caught in time because the exhausted.cortisol supply rarely can be depleted endogenously once exhausted.
@@pinschrunner 🤷♀️ no idea about any of that. Years ago there was lots of stress. Stress kept coming. I didn’t really have help medically for it so there was nothing “caught.” After the fact my son years later is undergoing testing and I find myself waiting with a plethora of neuropsych books in the waiting from for a day and a half which is where I read what it increased cortisol does. Only then did things start clicking into place for why I was forgetful… why my memory started having so many holes. That was a couple decades ago. Since then I’ve been trying food as medicine to include powerhouses like lions mane. It’s been helping. I still struggle… the problem isn’t fixed… it’s helped though…. And I’m gonna take anything I can get! 😉
I use many different herbs for different maladies. I have been having muscle pain the last few days. Yes, Tylenol does work, but I decided to use the feverfew/catnip extract that I made this past summer. It works very well. I also use homeopathic arnica cream to my knees and lower back daily. Keep up the great work that you do. You teach us so much. I’m looking forward to planting season and planting the herb seeds that I bought from you. God bless.
I didn't have ginger. But I had tumeric, clover Cinnamon. I kicked them heavily with coconut milk and honey. It did not take my headache away. But I did feel a difference and sharp pain in my neck was better. But not gone. I have a migraine roll on that has peppermint, rosemary lavender and marjoram oil. It helps my migraine a lot of I use it early enough. When it's really bad it does not work. But when it's coming on, it holds it off for a while. My friend has a headache not a migraine. I use vitamin C, regular vitamin, colleges, and Echinacea. I haven't been sick since we 2006. I have peppermint this year. The Calendum, and Echinacea are probably not going to make it. It rained so much here that so much drowned. I have to use containers. Thank you! I am changing things next year! Thank you for your help!
THANK U FOR THE INFO
