I've probably done ten landscape material tutorials, all helpful. But this is the best I've seen, the way you start from the beginning, explain what things are doing, then expand outward to add new facets. Other times I've just "made" a material; this time I actually learned how. Thanks!
Landed here after falling asleep and youtube just autoplaying, had to go back, 40 min in, idk anything about what im watching but ik you're talented lmao
Holy hell, you put not only over 1k worth of course info, but a material people are charging 100 bucks for (with less functionality, and no documentation) up for free, you are amazing!!!
I think the most useful thing that has been completely glossed over when world partition has been demoed is the world partition grid setting when generating the landscape. You can specify the world partition grid size to match the sections per component instead of scaling the world partition grid after the fact
Super useful and incredibly detailed! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for just this week. Thanks so much for putting this together. I like that you’ve included an intro to Gaea as well. Their documentation is really lacking, so this helps.

🤣 facts. I completely disagree. This work is very sloppy and disorganized. Just look at the amount of wires in the Event Graphs 🤦♂️ UE is supposed to make this easy, not over complicate it the way this guy did 🤣 3:29:01 I saw those clusters of wires and I was like NOPE no way I’m picking up these nasty habits.
Awesome! Incredibly detailed tutorial, Thanks for covering all the different topics. 1:02:08 If you use Normalized instead of Raw in Range type then you'll get less sharp edges in the landscape. Useful for closeups and games. You should try the latest version of Gaea( 1.3 bleeding edge) which has a lot of amazing stuff added.
Your tutorials are incredible, but I have to ask you if you can add non-automatic subtitles. Some sections, like at 2:29:25 are almost unintelligible, probably because of some microphone related problems. I noticed this problem in another video of yours
@@unfgames I'm just starting the course on the, and had a look at the completed project. Is there triplanar projection (to stop the stretching on the cliffs)? And does it need to be updated too?

Hey! This tutorial is super helpful! However there is one thing that I am stuck on at around 2:47:00, you start creating the displacement. However, I cannot find the World Displacement input on the Make Material Attributes node. In fact, I can't see anything to do with displacement in the material graph at all. I think UE5 got rid of displacement in the Material Graph. Is there another way to create displacement?
Nice video and thanks for the share 👍 For me, watching this topic on the free course you posted on teachable is more practical Can you tell me how you set UE 5 to have the optional buttons appear in the toolbar (for instance when you"re in landscape mode). So this is probably the best resourse for newbie unreal level makers there is bar none. One thing, however, gaea has been updated and now nothing is where it should, I suppose so you go to them for training. It is made on purpose to not be newbie friendly, where gaea seem to have changed stuff around to no longer fit the plethora of tutorials online. I would love to see another software being used, as gaea is just very bad now.
First of all, amazing video, thank you so much. Secondly, i am working on a project and i used your blueprint logic for automated material, but im facing an error as sampler register limit exceeded. The material is either not loading after that or it is not possible to paint over it with other materials. if you have any fix for this, please follow through, as it is not there in any website on the net.
Great Tutorial could you make short video or explain where is Displacement gone in UE5.02 - even virtual texture part is using displacement - world displacement is no more available in make material attributes or even break mat attributes - it would be really nice of you if you have a workaround to that - pls keep doing these tutorials -they are fun & informative at the same time.
I just found out we can collapse nodes so they combine into 1 node.. hahhaaha.. doesn't seem to break anything, however I noticed when the collapsed node contains named reroute nodes .. the end nodes must be plugged into layer blend first it seems?? Anyway, now my landscape material is really OCD optimised 😂 Oh and also, I changed the scale of my landscape to 25x25x25 so the size of the squares are smaller..however I increase the resolution to compensate.. this makes sculpting really powerful, and landscape effectively zero difference in size, but 4x more detailed 😎at first this didn't really make sense to me so I hope this helps if you're new too
