Omg someone like me! It’s so perfectly crafted, and I mean all of Adrian’s solos are amazing but the way every fucking note falls off of one another is just perfect. The tempo, his ability to just rip after the mellow part in the beginning…
always found the whole "don't be that guy" thing about wearing a bands shirt at their concerts (or the band wearing their own" to be about as limp as the whole "Poseur" argument. Wear WTF you want. Why would I go out of my way to wear a Slayer shirt at a Maiden Show? Who the heck makes up these "rules"?
Iron Maiden are my favorite metal band of all time, I remember when this album came out in 86,I was 15 and their music is absolutely original, phenomenal, creative and they are amazing live and I finally got to see them in the Tacoma dome several years ago and they blew the roof off and I'll never forget this experience. Thank you both very much. Lorenzo Gig Harbor Washington.
bruce makes fun of his outfits.on his night with bruce he says he told the designer as she started backing away he wanted pants that look like a skinned alien green lizard with suspenders witha 3 musketeer type shirt. the green lizard skin jacket with the red beating blood and blood veins had a battery but it stopped working.
Their live concerts are awesome especially in Central or South America such as Rio. They have now 3 guitarists share leads or solos. Dave, Adrian, and Janick are known as Three Amigos.
Fun fact. The bassist was the brainchild who started Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden was one of the bands that inspired the bassist of Lovebites to create a band. And so now that band is being led by a bassist :)
Back then they did SO MANY Concerts they often didn't care what they wore ,when..Powerslave Tour, they did 189 shows in a year..and on this tour. Lead singer wore that outfit every concert..Time Machine theme..
In Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, Bruce talks about his technique for shrinking down the audience in his mind to one person. Really good documentary if you guys haven't seen it.
I was at this tour and every Iron Maiden tour throughout the 80s. First saw them open for UFO in 1979 or 80 it’s all a bit fuzzy 😂😂 great band and a fun reaction.
Steve Harris, Bassist and founder of Iron Maiden nicknamed Bruce Dickinson, "Human Air Raid Siren". Bruce has a second career besides being lead singer of Iron Maiden; he is fully certified and licensed airline pilot. Bruce flies a custom Boeing either 747 or 757 Jumbo Airliner named "Ed Force One" with the band, management, crew and equipment to different locations that requires plane flights during long tours. Current tour as it's on hiatus, Legacy of the Beast tour due to Pandemic. That tour has been ongoing since 2018 or 2019 to this year or next celebrates Iron Maiden's 45+years career.
The album was somewhere in time so im thinking more space themed outfit but i might be wrong 🤷♂️. Great reaction to one of my favourite maiden songs ever from my favourite maiden album ever👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Guys this was my introduction to Iron Maiden around 1986 I think... My very first Metal show was Iron Maiden on their Somewhere in Time World Tour! That show changed my life and made me a Metal fan forever 🤘🤘🤘
I agree with Mat's reaction that it is more common for a solo to start fast and end fast or end slower, but this solo starts very slow and smooth in a mellow, slower part of another-wise fast song and then it builds up and gets faster to catch up to the songs original , faster tempo which is not that common and brilliant done. Adrian Smith (the guitarist with an Iron Maiden shirt) Has written this song and many others of my absolute fav Iron Maiden songs, like Wasted Years , Moonchild, The Wicker Man, Paschendale, Sea Of Madness, The Evil That Men Do, 2 Minutes to Midnight, 22 Acacia Avenue and many more songs. He has also written many of the best solos that Iron Maiden has played or created. In most songs where all the three of the guitarists have their own part of solos (3 guitarists = 3 solos) I find that Adrian Smith's solo parts is the best out of all of them. For instance in Dance of Death or Paschendale, Adrian Smiths solos have so much more feel and soul than Dave Murray's or Janick Gers solos that plays more faster (Dave Murray) or more dirty (Janick Gers) Adrian Smith is one of those guitarists that tries to get as much sound and feel out of every note that is possible, which I love. Another guitarist that does this, is David Gilmour. Not very fast or technical for that matter, but man, does he get the most out of every note he plays.
This was when metal was much more musical. Less aggression and anger. Sorry? I am older and remember this stuff. Without it music would not be the same as it is today. History my friends.
First concert I ever went to... San Diego Sports Arena. 1986. I was in the 8th grade. My mom let me go by myself. And bought the ticket. And dropped me off and picked me up. Being an 80s kid was bitchin!
Yeah .... i miss the 80's alot. It was so fun and the hardrock scene was great. I played in many bands and was asked to join big bands. Had alot of musican friends and had contacts everywere. And the clothes :) I was wearing leopard and zebra pants in many colors :) Guitars ... had many many of them .... but today .... only 12 :(

"How wonderfully 80s this feels".. honeslty... this would fit right in with the mid 70s too... it just "happens to be" the 80s.. go watch a video from Rainbow from 77 and you'll get the same look.
Oh. More GREAT 80,s bands.. HELIX(No Rest For The Wicked Album) W.A.S.P. Krokus, DIO, KIX Dokken, RATT, King Kobra(Ready to Strike album), White snake(Slide it In album), Riot, Fastway, ANVIL, Quiet Riot...
New subscriber, you guys know your stuff, gr8 reaction, and I'm a Maiden HEAD - No Maiden good chance no Metallica, they were they're an inspiration to metal bands in the US at that time and Metallica reference them for that, gave them the confidence to just go for it, I listen to Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead ALL OF THEM, but Maiden were head and shoulders the best for me.
Your more than welcome x Be safe and plenty of Maiden rec's. I would luv your opinion on whether D'Ianno or Dickinson were better singers for Maiden as this divides ALL Maiden fans, if so, I'll recommend 2 of D'Ianno's and see what you think
Shame the band didn't like this album as much as many thousands of us fans. Think its a way too "dated" work for them cos the synth allong with many bad memories from the recording process, who knows🤷♂️
That Adrian Smith solo is one of my favourites ever!
Mine too brother
The main part of the song……. Well a well deserved part of the incredible whole song, along with the bass, drums, voice. Just DAYMN
Omg someone like me! It’s so perfectly crafted, and I mean all of Adrian’s solos are amazing but the way every fucking note falls off of one another is just perfect. The tempo, his ability to just rip after the mellow part in the beginning…
Same 🫡
Yeah Adrian Smith is a genius, his part on Caught somewhere in time and Sea of madness is awesome too, Wasted Years ? :D
One of the best bass lines in music history right here.
Steve Harris is a bass god
Maiden is the only band that is allowed to wear their own shirts!
always found the whole "don't be that guy" thing about wearing a bands shirt at their concerts (or the band wearing their own" to be about as limp as the whole "Poseur" argument. Wear WTF you want. Why would I go out of my way to wear a Slayer shirt at a Maiden Show? Who the heck makes up these "rules"?
Eff Ya!
...because the shirts are just bad ass and impressive!!
DAMN RIGHT!!
Adrian Smith's solo is so cool!
heavenly solo from Mr.Smith. .Chills.
“I am an 80’s junkie, and this is wonderful” 😂
The song is just too badass to describe. Absolutely one of Maiden's very best.
80, 90, 20, 2020, Iron Maiden is beyond time.
This guitar solo touchs the soul 🤟🏼
Iron Maiden are my favorite metal band of all time, I remember when this album came out in 86,I was 15 and their music is absolutely original, phenomenal, creative and they are amazing live and I finally got to see them in the Tacoma dome several years ago and they blew the roof off and I'll never forget this experience. Thank you for reacting to this. Definitely in my top favorite Maiden songs. Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!

A pretty good song about an arctic explorer who dies and is frozen in ice only to be found 100 years later.
Their live concerts are awesome especially in Central or South America such as Rio. They have now 3 guitarists share leads or solos. Dave, Adrian, and Janick are known as Three Amigos.
Oh yeah. Finally got the chance to see them live in 2019. Unforgettable experience.
You didn't even notice the inflatables hands and head of Eddie growing at the end of the song, Bruce and Steve finished the song each one in a hand.
Fun fact. The bassist was the brainchild who started Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden was one of the bands that inspired the bassist of Lovebites to create a band. And so now that band is being led by a bassist :)
Only Iron Maiden can get their fans interested in poetry by singing about it. UP THE IRONS 🤘🤘
That's Adrian Smith wearing the Iron Maiden shirt. Nowadays you can see Janick wearing one as well. It's just cool imho🤘🤘🤘🔥👍
Amazing how each band member plays so in sync with each other ! Bruce’s vocals are fucking unreal !!
Back then they did SO MANY Concerts they often didn't care what they wore ,when..Powerslave Tour, they did 189 shows in a year..and on this tour. Lead singer wore that outfit every concert..Time Machine theme..
Was many years ago when I left home and came this way I was a young man full of Hope's and dreams.💥🔥💥🎤🎵🎶🎤🦈💨
In Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, Bruce talks about his technique for shrinking down the audience in his mind to one person.
Really good documentary if you guys haven't seen it.

Amazing you got to see Diano days ..Number and Piece.... Jealous....
Worth noting that this is also one of Adrian Smith's solo compositions, lyrics + music, for Iron Maiden. And that guitar solo- master class.
Stranger in a strange land is a SF novel by Robert A. Heinlein.

Brings back great memories, I’m actually on the video as a young 16 year old and my claim too fame for 3 seconds lol . The big 50 this year 🤘🤘

Lots of bands wore there own shirts back then. Lars has a MetallicA shirt on in the One video because it’s new along with the new album at the time.
9:16. Magical, yep.

How many metalheads have never heard Iron Maiden songs before?
Bruce is like a child on a sugar rush let loose in a candy store!

That whole record is insane
That was groovy, indeed. :)
I'll drop Austrian Death Machine - Get To Da Choppa, again.

80’s Maiden was the best! If you like groovy, try Wrathchild - either Paul Dianno or Bruce Dickinson version.

Bass point, not guitar point.
Trademarked move from Steve Harris. He always machines gun the audience with his bass.

Definitely better songs from maiden but man still such a great song also opinions may differ
Shame the band didn't like this album as much as many thousands of us fans. Think its a way too "dated" work for them cos the synth allong with many bad memories from the recording process, who knows🤷♂️
