Hello Abigirl [ @Abigirl_Reacts ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts Thank you for a nice first reaction. I hope that you will continue exploring this true musical universe, of surprising diversity. I promise you will not be disappointed!
So was I :) This was what, their 12th or 13th track of the set? And not tired at all. You probably laugh-snorted the same wayh I did at "Crowd-surfing already?" Folks had been surfing for half an hour before the intro to this one!
This is song 13 of 15 sung by Floor Jansen who had been with Nightwish only ten months and is singing every song written for previous two singers and taking them to another level.
@@Abigirl_Reacts That's why they were crowdsurfing already, Nightwish had been on for over an hour at this point. And don't feel bad about the inability to nail down the time signature, it changes a lot. :) Welcome to Nightwish, it's a wonderful journey.
Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power of her vocals. We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard. ALL HAIL THE VALKYRIE GODDESS!!! The Nightwish Army is incoming! You're not ready! Nightwish Army Central Florida Black Company reporting for duty!
It is a score, not a song. Composition by Tuomas, the guy on the keys (think Hans Zimmer on metal.) He is also the poet writing the lyrics. Five keys are used, 17 changes of key throughout. Multiple tempo changes. Few vocalists in the world could compete with Floor on that song. The Orchestra you hear is their partner the London Philharmonic orchestra, the Choir is the London Metro Choir, and a couple of Children's choirs are sometime used. Welcome to Finnish Symphonic Metal.
Former drummer here to explain the time signature of the intro: phrasing of eight bars (measures) per phrase, six beats in each measure (6/8 time), except that the sixth bar has four beasts instead of six.
Nightwish is a group of extremely talented and hard working musicians who all play for the song. No egos here and the result is a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Loved how you were blown away by Floor. it's a common reaction. And, as you dig more and more into this band's catalog, you will begin to appreciate everyone, and their ability to create emotion. The composer of all their songs is the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen. He has been called the "Metal Mozart" and there's a lot of truth in that. Looking forward to your journey with this great band.
@@JeffSparrow87 i mistyped wanted to skip ithin tempation. I'm sorry...something about within tempation doesn't work for me. But i'm weird, every time i hear adele i feel bad Amy winehouse died, adele is avarege where whinehouse was special. Within tempation is to close to pop(bit mediocre] also despuse Metallica being called one of the big 5( they are mediocre)
This was song 13 of a setlist of 15. Crowd surfing hell yeah and Floor tired? Nah... A voice for days!!! Prepare yourself for the Nightwish Army and General Gabriel, the PR officer. Don't be scared... we are friendly (most of us, LOL).
Good one. One of my hobbies is watching reactions to this song. I must have heard this 200 times now, but I always get the chills when they return to the "My fall will be for you," near the end, so I was especially glad to hear you sing along with it when it was first appearing.
This song is what I refer to as Nightwish’s version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” complex and mind boggling. The singer is a Dutch artist named Floor Jansen aka the Valkyrie queen. She is a graduate of the Dutch Rock Academy and then 2 years of opera and musical theatre. I recommend “story time”. Wacken is in Germany so it’s pronounced as “Vacken”. The keyboard player is the composer of the music he is called the “Metal Mozart”. There was a burning bull skull because the festival is in a cattle town in Germany and that’s their symbol. Wacken is the gold standard.
It’s one song, a story, an experience, a moment to give yourself to the music and escape from the mundane world. Welcome to symphonic metal, a blend of Metal, orchestral and progressive rock with some of the best composers, musicians and singers on the planet. Also check out EPICA who more than live up to their name. Try ‘Unleashed’ live from their retrospect concert complete with a full orchestra and choir in support.
9:31 backing track. Nightwish's backing tracks are recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra or, if they are no available, other very high profile symphony orchestras. That is partly why this type of metal is known as "Symphonic Metal," as any band that has orchestral parts in their music is part of that genre. It sometimes blends over to power metal or epic metal, but orchestra stuff is 98% symphonic metal.
1. The bull skull is the logo of the Wacken open air festival. 2. The Orchestral/Choir parts are prerecorded tracks. It is the London Philharmonic & Metro Voices choir. Welcome to the Nightwish/Floor Jansen rabbit hole. So a little background. Floor heard Anneke van Giersbergen (The Godmother of female fronted Dutch metal) & the Gathering when she was 16. She quickly decided that was what she should be doing and joined a local metal band that became After Forever. She sang for three years before joining the inaugural class of the Dutch rock academy, then went on to study one year of opera and three of musical theater at the Tilburg conservatorium. She continued singing in After Forever throughout this period. Nightwish was formed in 1996. Floor is the third singer for the band Tarja was the lead singer from 96 to 2005. Tarja is a operatically trained classical voice. Anette was the second lead 2006 to 2012. Anette has a more pop rock voice. Floor has been the lead since 2013.
I really like watching people experience Nightwish & Floor for the first time because you can literally see the exact moment when they are caught by her voice. This is so pure.
9:46 the best way to look at Nightwish's "long songs" are to think of them as full songs done in acts. Ghost Love Score has four acts: Opening, first sung part up to the break, first sung part after the break, and then the reprise at the end. Sometimes those parts are named, such as in The Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show On Earth (14 minute and 23 minute songs respectively).
Thank you, very nice reaction! Just Nightwish doing Nightwish things! And as you have surely noticed, although they are all outstanding , none of them standout 😍 Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at. Never, in the history of music entertainment, have a set of skills and talent collided in such powerful manner. Tuomas is a true genius as a composer and with lyrics.
Back in 2000 I was 17 and heard Pavarotti for the 1st time and he made me cry, that never happened again until I heard this song and Floor a couple months ago and delving into her music it has happened with her multiple times. Great reaction to this.
You chose a wild one to start listening to Nightwish. Now you're down the rabbit hole, and you'll find it exquisitely endless! Welcome to the Nightwish Army!
@@Abigirl_Reacts I strongly recommend 'The greatest show on Earth' live, either at Tampere (Finland) or at Wembley (England). Both are mind blowing, and both have their own details, so maybe check both! Have fun!
As you have discovered, Floor is an Enchantress. The exploration of Nightwish is a journey that will enthrall you like no other. There is so much variety and so many nuances to their music ... and their live performances are, in my opinion, simply breathtaking. Listening to, and especially watching Nightwish, I'm usually either grinning like a maniac or wiping a tear out of my eye. No recommendations from me, you can't go wrong following Gabriel's advice. Enjoy the journey, as a new subscriber, I will watch on with interest. All the very best from the Canberra Regiment, Australian Division, Nightwish Army.
Waken is a town with like 2000 people and they host one of the biggest metal festivals in the world. They started on a cow field. That is why there is a flaming cow head.
The time signature of the intro (which is resumed near the end in the „aah-aah-aah!“ reprise part) is 2 bars 6/8 and one bar 5/8 followed by another bar 6/8. This is why it seems one beat is missing in the third bar - cause it is! And no, it‘s not one song, it‘s a „score“ - like in film score. But yes, it‘s effectively one piece consisting of several parts. (Comparable to Queen‘s „Bohemian Rhapsody“).
yes Floor is one of the best singers out there. i hope you will do more. Floor can sing all genres you have no idea she does opera, growls and every musical genre and she is the kindest person out there. p.s i love the little moogle and tonberry on your back🥰
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal. You have found the leader in the genre. Floor's voice has mesmerized so many people, including opera singers. She's definitely a Valkyrie. Follow General Gabriel's list as a great path. There are many wonderful bands in this genre. The band I consider my favorite symphonic metal band is Epica. They also use symphonic music and choirs in their music, but with a much darker sound. Their female singer, Simone Simons, is spectacular. The song I recommend to start would be Unleashed, at the Retrospect anniversary concert. They had a full orchestra and choir on the stage with them. I think you will love the sound. p.s., Floor was a guest singer at the concert and does two songs with Simone.
Welcome to the nightwish army, I just joined myself a few months back and can’t get enough! Story time and ever dream are 2 great songs from this setlist but honestly there’s no bad song from this concert! Great reaction and the insta floorgasm after 3 seconds of hearing Floor sing! 💙
17. someone did count 17 Timechanges, although i think he did count the repeating ones as one:) Beeing absolute true, i doubted that you really never ever did Hear NW or Floor before. But who cares, your reaction was wholesome and authentic in my Eyes, and well thats what i always love. beeing first Time baffled seeing and hearing our beloved Combo. Envy you and be curious at the same Time for your Journey with NW. And like many surely almost said, you heard nothing, lady.) ill stay and look forward. Stay Healthy! Metalhead, frankonia, germany.
@@Abigirl_Reacts Yaeh, exactly, the Opening "i never "etc is such an Stereotyp if you watch Recaps since around 10 Yearslike me. mostly if you get This at Opener, you see ppl that know when to cry, beeing surprised on the Point while dont flinch an inch at the next Situation, bcs it dont works with the pausing and know when to even noticed Instrumentation of an Backtrack, master Musicans needed 5 rewatches etc. I an German, much more bad i`m an middle Frankonian(Nürnberg, famous for Christmas Market, Toys, and 3rd Reich Rallies and the Nürnberg Courts Trials after WW II). So no Sense of Humor else then Sasrcasm, mostly expecting all rotten from Start, so dont mind my rumbling too much:) And sorry i didnt make it more obviously that i felt you proved me wrong, young Lady:) Stay healthy!
Jacksonville Fl. division of the Nightwish Army here. Welcome aboard. Great reaction video. For the best quality videos for Nightwish, I suggest you follow General Gabriel's recommendations.
Floor Jansen is Nightwish's third female singer. The original was Tarja Turunen, followed by Anette Olzon (Anette Olsson). The bull is a symbol of Wacken open air. Many metal bands walk on stage. and wait for the crowd to start chanting for the band before coming back out again.
Welcome to the world of NW and the wonderful Floor Jansen. I never tire of seeing first timers getting blown away by how amazing this band is. Please follow Gabriel's advice for the rest of your NW journey. It will ensure that you will get the most out of it musically and emotionally. His list is just about as perfect as it gets to leading you down the history of NW. There are two milestones that you will reach (The Poet and the Pendulum & The Greatest Show on Earth) and if you are not properly prepared for these milestones, the experience will not hit as hard emotionally. Thank you for a wonderful reaction. I look forward to seeing more jaw-dropping moments. 😁...Oy yeah, Welcome to the family. We are glad you are here.
Hi Abigirl. Nightwish Army, Indonesia checking in. So, you have now grauated to Nighwish, congratulations. Nightwish is a very deep rabbithole indeed. The good news is that Gabriel, our leader, has made contact which will make things a lot easier for you. It is only a guide, but I would start reacting to numbers from this Wacken concert and eventually work your way forward. I've subscribed as I want to follow your reactions to this band with the best female singer in the world, so strap yourself in and enjoy the ride, which is, Nightwish.
When you had a physical reaction into 3 seconds of Floor, I knew this would be good. Welcome to the wonderful world of Floor Jansen and Nightwish. A journey well worth making. Keep exploring Nightwish. - Nightwish Army North Texas division
@@Abigirl_Reacts Yes, it is a "Score," like a movie score with different acts, and a climax, followed by a denouement. The central part was not an intermission but an intermezzo, an orchestral interlude that bridges two parts of the story. This score tells the story of a heartbroken young man, left emotionally dead after he finally realizes, after years of obsessive infatuation, that he has been in love with a figment of his imagination rather than the real woman as she actually was, i.e., not interested in reciprocating any romantic advances that may or may not have been. Metaphorically speaking, he was in love with a "ghost" that evaporated in a puff of smoke once the realization came. During the "My Fall" first verse, you can hear the Metro Voices of London choir in the background singing, "My fall will be for you; my love will be with you. If you be the one to cut me, I will bleed forever!" And then, in the "My Fall Reprise" after the realization tears his heart out, the choir sings, "My fall will be for you; my love will be with you. You WERE the one to cut me, so I will bleed forever!" Notice the subtle change.
Yes... in this song, Floor is the only one singing. However there are many songs where the Bassist Marko (until he left the band a couple years ago) also sings a little... and a few songs where it's all Marko singing, with maybe Floor doing a little backing. FYI, Marko is also a lead singer in his own band that he created with his brother back in 1982 and was still playing with all through his time with Nightwish... so he can really sing as well. You will eventually see it. There is also another member of the band that you did not see here, named Troy, who is a multi-instrumentalist, that does some back-up singing as well. The ENTIRE band is extremely talented, both past and present members. And by now you've seen Gabriel's list of recommended songs...it's a fantastic list, but if you decide to follow his list please feel free to go off the list from time to time. It's impossible for him to include ALL the good songs because then he would have to list them all... no joke!
@@Abigirl_Reacts If you want to get a good taste of Marko right away as a lead singer ... well you could take a look at his band Tarot (the one I mentioned) ... or you can take a look at these 3 Nightwish songs... 1) High Hopes (A Pink Floyd cover) 2) The Islander 3) While your lips are still Red Those are the 3 off the top of my head where Marko is the lead or sole singer. There are MANY others where Floor is lead of course where Marko (and sometimes Troy) does more or less backing vocals...and some of those are fantastic to hear as well because Marko and Floor together ... well they really work well together!
@9:20 "Is there an actual full symphony here, that I'm not seeing?". Yes. They play against a back track, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra. During that symphonic interlude the entire band leaves the stage to give full room for that back track.
@Abigirl_Reacts The orchestral parts were composed as part of the piece. They recorded it especially for and with Nightwish. But it's a bit difficult (and costly) to take the entire London Symphony Orchestra with them on tour.
The "bull" is the logo of that event that is called "Wacken Open Air" in germany. There are playing alot of other bands too at that event. So this wasn't even perticualary arranged for them, yet they blew this epic gem out of the park.
This is my first visit to you & your channel. You my dear have selected a masterpiece. Roughly 80,000 plus there! Floor is a gift to humankind! Yes mam the lead singer is a female!! She has formal training, she is a mom, and she rides horses!! You are not alone this video brings tears to my eyes it is so great!! Floor is wearing leather and has a cape. Yet breathing is perfect! All from the diaphragm. Such power and style..... Amazing arrives in a bit. They leave the stage briefly! Upon their return they bust it loose. And Floor proceeds to melt our brains! I saved the best for last, she recently beat cancer!! Abi it is the same song! I hope you liked it.
I see you are multi-Floorgasmic. It's a real thing ! Floor can give chills to a polar bear. Don't worry about keeping up with key and time signature changes. Just sit back and enjoy the epic tunes of Tuomas (keyboards, founder, composer). You rarely see what's coming next, but you know it will be very pleasurable. Most of the symphonic elements you hear are coming from backing tapes composed with such orchestras as the London Philharmonic. Great reaction. This was song 13 of 15 so the interlude provided them with a little break. Floor actually had a stuck zipper under her left arm that jammed, and she took this time to fix it. 😊🤘
@@Abigirl_Reacts Behind the scenes? I wish! If you check earlier before she goes off stage, you can see that the zipper under her left arm is partially down. As she walks off stage you can see her feel the zipper with her right hand. When she comes back the zipper is up. Tada! 😄🤘
This is the 13th song of a 15 song set , stamina amazing hence the small breaks , drummer is incredible , this whole concert is well worth a watch , i bought this CD the day after i saw this song a couple of years back now .
Nightwish with Floor on vocals has so many great songs! Gabriel’s list is probably the best source for good video links. You don’t Have to follow it in order, but it is set up quite well to expose you to some of the many facets that Nightwish has to offer. I only discovered this band 4 years ago, and they are easily my favorite band of all time, and I’ve been listening to rock and metal since Joan Jett & The Blackhearts came out with “ I Love RocknRoll” back in 1981!
Whatever guard you have up before your heart.....HER voice cuts through it like a hot sword through butter....... Greetings from Nightwish Army South Germany
Great reaction! Listening to Floor is remarkably emotional. That last note is a full-on belt. The bass player is also a very versatile vocalist. He does everything for Nightwish from full-on snarling to a sweet little sea shanty called The Islander and a very touching Kiss while your Lips are Still Red. His vocals for the band's tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes is superb.
Oh yeah, finally you arrived at Nightwish. Looking forward for more reactions of yours to them. One thing I can promise you already: that feeling you got there and the chills ... you will have that with every frickin' Nightwish song with Floor singing. Literally each and every one.
The Nightwish official fanbase will have given you a rundown of the technical aspects by now. Tuomas arranges this stuff with the London Philharmonic. To that end, if you understand classical music, it has movements as separation in the acts of a play. That is what I think you are noticing. The number of key and signature changes is nuts. But you hear the end result. I refer to Tuomas as the Modern Mozart. It seems to sum it up nicely.
Nightwish Army Cleveland, Ohio Company reporting. That is one of the fastest Floorgasms I’ve ever seen. You are definitely Nightwish Army material Abigirl. All Hail Goddess Floor!!!
It is slowed here, yes...I believe it's only on the Blu-ray version, God only knows why... But really, it makes a huge difference! At the correct speed, this song is far more "driven" and even more impressive. Great reaction though, thank you!! @Abigirl_Reacts
And there you have it: the best singer in the world, miss Floor Jansen (pronounced Yahnsen). Please react to Storytime from the same concert. A shorter, more straightforward song. Greetings from the UK.
You are right about the time & key signature changes. They go something like this: Time signatures: Intro: A: 6/8, 6/8, 5/8, 6/8 4x B: 4/4, 4/4, 3/4, 4/4 4x, Verses, chorus, 1st bridge & guitar solo: 4/4, Orchestral Interlude & 2nd Bridge: 12/8, A section from Intro repeats, 3rd Bridge & Outro: 4/4. Keys: Intro: D minor, F minor, D minor, F minor; Verse: F Major, Chorus & 1st bridge: Bb minor. Guitar solo, orchestral interlude: G minor. 2nd Bridge: G minor, Bb minor, D minor. Repeat first half of intro. 3rd Bridge: D minor. Outro: Bb minor
Great reaction. I've been with you since you found Babymetal. Between Babymetal and Nightwish, they kept me sane during some tough times in lockdown. I cannot stress strongly enough my wish for you to delve much deeper into Nightwish. If you want something more recent - maybe latest releases 'An Ocean of Strange Islands' and 'Lanternlight' . Gabriel would've probably given you a great list which most reactors stick to - but I think it would be fun to dabble in some up to date offerings first. Btw - I've just today secured tickets to see Babymetal again here in London - but this time they're bringing their major show which they have only ever done within Japan, so very excited about that! It must be said though - Nightwish are soooo highly recommended! Take care 😊
Nightwish Army Germany reports for Duty: What you should do: Listen to General Gabriel. He knows. Great Reaction !! I think our Queen captured another soul….:-) It never gets old to see people freeze when our Queen starts to sing…. About Ghost Love Score: Standing solid as a World Pillar around which the planet revolves, Floor hits "The Note," the crowd loses their shit, the band tears a hole in the fabric of Space-Time, and 82,000 people will never, ever be the same again. Floor Jansen, First of Her Name, Queen of the Valkyries and Stonehenge, Lady of Nightwish and Protector of our Metal Realm. Long may she reign. Bow, mortal !
There is no bad Nightwish song. When listening to their songs, ALWAYS listen clear thru the credits. Tuomas sometimes hides Easter Egg in them or there is narration during the credits.
Nightwish , yes , amazing vocals- I really like their sound - first time I heard a song of mourning did so radically , hits very close to home , but I like it 😊😊
A Score is an arrangement that never repeats until the tag at the end, hence all the variants in one composition. I also was there that night and I'd never heard of Nightwish before but a friend took me. The band was great but Floor Jansen just blew the crowd away. Most of the crowd hadn't really heard her before, they were used to her predecessor. We were over half way back so it was tough to see sometimes, but Floor just towered over the other band members. Someone told me she was approx 1.8 meters tall, 6'2"....hell of a show. It was my last trip to Germany.
I promise you won't be disappointed with any of the songs from nightwish they are phenonimal you just herd floor there two previous singers tarja and anette both great as well. And a great reaction from you also♥
I'm so glad your checking out Nightwish my personal favourite band The bull represents the cows that use to be in the field that was purchased by the owners of Wacken Germany pronounced Vacken. Floor is 6.1 tall add 3-4 inches of heels she towers over much of the band members. Tuomas the keyboard player writes 95% Of the music and lyrics nicknamed the metal Mozart. If you get goosebumps watching Floor the running joke is you had a Floorgasm lol. Nightwish a Sweedish band with a member Troy not on this song Is British and Floor who is Dutch and because she often twirls her head in circles they call it the Windmill lol.
In the meantime she is a mother and has beaten, I believe, breast cancer. For me together with Taija (former singer of nightwish) the queens of epic rock.
Some people equate discovering Nightwish to falling into a rabbit hole. It isn't. It's like falling into an entire warren with tunnels everywhere. There are several Nightwish concerts that have been filmed for DVD release and available to watch, like this, on UA-cam, so there's a lot of brilliant live material to discover, but Floor is the third (and current) lead singer so worth dipping your toe into the earlier versions, but from Nightwish you will discover so many other rabbit holes/ warrens such as After Forever, ReVamp, Northward, Floor's solo material, Beste Zangers, Tarja (particularly her Dark Xmas album), Epica, Sabaton (when you listen to their video Christmas Truce make sure you listen all the way through to the end), Simone Simons, Auri, Raskasta Joulua and the even deeper warren Ayreon (start with the official video "Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017)" on Arjen Anthony Lucassen's UA-cam channel.
Yes Abigirl, all the same song. Think of a movie score. 17 key changes. Mainly back and forth between F minor, G minor, and D minor. 6/8, 3/4 , and straight time. So much more to hear and feel. You have already experienced multiple "Floorgasms". That is what we lovingly call those chills Floor's vocal s create in our souls. Many more to come if you decide to continue the wild ride. Gabriel will provide you with everything needed to continue this journey.
Nightwish fan here. But to hear more from Floor you can lsten to a Dutch TV show: "Beste Zangers" (best singers). Every participant sings an number of the rest of the (singers) crowd. She gave every song a "metal" sound exept "shalow"! Duet with Henk Poort "Fantom of the opera" "Que se siento" from Rolf Sanches "Shalow" lady gaga cover Enjoy !
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
So be prepared. lol "

I was in that crowd, and Floor made me cry. I'm not a person that cries easiely. She is amazing.

💯
@@Abigirl_Reacts That's why they were crowdsurfing already, Nightwish had been on for over an hour at this point. And don't feel bad about the inability to nail down the time signature, it changes a lot. :) Welcome to Nightwish, it's a wonderful journey.
Originally Floor was sent by Allfather Odhinn to Midgard to gather the souls of fallen warriors to Valhalla, but she
got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power
of her vocals.
We give thanks for her at our Blots regularly and hope that Odhinn won't notice that she has never returned to Asgard.

The Nightwish Army is incoming! You're not ready!
Nightwish Army Central Florida Black Company reporting for duty!
Hail!
5 keys with 17 changes?! Woah!
5 keys? That’s nothing. His piano has 88😅
And he has at least two keyboards. @@gsparkman
Former drummer here to explain the time signature of the intro: phrasing of eight bars (measures) per phrase, six beats in each measure (6/8 time), except that the sixth bar has four beasts instead of six.
@@williammelaniegappmayer2655 Tuomas had three keyboards on stage for this tour but he needs indeed minimum of two to perform most songs.
Metal Mozart is appropriate!
Best female singer in the world. She can sing anything. Please go down this rabbit hole.
I plan to!
Maybe add Ad Infinitum, Epica, Kamelot, Within Temptation and Sirenia to the same rabbit hole. Which are also symphonic metal bands.

In fact all of the beste zangers performances. Best with the chat at start and end, in Dutch but subtitles and gives some perspective to each song.
Gotta check out Storytime, Romanticide, and Everdream from this same show. Incredible. This whole concert is amazing
Coming soon!
Good one. One of my hobbies is watching reactions to this song. I must have heard this 200 times now, but I always get the chills when they return to the "My fall will be for you," near the end, so I was especially glad to hear you sing along with it when it was first appearing.
The ending was so nice, I had to play it twice ^_^
It was complex and amazing!
Thanks for having me! Happy to be here ^_^
9:31 backing track.
Id like to hear the symphony live too!
@@Abigirl_Reacts There is another symphonic metal band that did just that, Within Temptation. Look up "Within Temptation: The Black Symphony" :)
@@Abigirl_Reacts then you should watch Epica Live: Sancta Terra (featering Floor Jansen the singer of Nightwish)

and Epica did the total live with orcestra....even more than once
Is there a performance with a live symphony?
I really like watching people experience Nightwish & Floor for the first time because you can literally see the exact moment when they are caught by her voice. This is so pure.
And for me out was about 3 seconds in LOL
9:46 the best way to look at Nightwish's "long songs" are to think of them as full songs done in acts. Ghost Love Score has four acts: Opening, first sung part up to the break, first sung part after the break, and then the reprise at the end. Sometimes those parts are named, such as in The Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show On Earth (14 minute and 23 minute songs respectively).
Yes I get it now, there was literally an interlude as well! ^_^

Waken is a town with like 2000 people and they host one of the biggest metal festivals in the world. They started on a cow field. That is why there is a flaming cow head.
Oh that's pretty cool!
They were about an hour into the set which makes her singing all the more impressive! Truly, Floor is a Metal Valkyrie. 🙂
💯
The time signature of the intro (which is resumed near the end in the „aah-aah-aah!“ reprise part) is 2 bars 6/8 and one bar 5/8 followed by another bar 6/8. This is why it seems one beat is missing in the third bar - cause it is! And no, it‘s not one song, it‘s a „score“ - like in film score. But yes, it‘s effectively one piece consisting of several parts. (Comparable to Queen‘s „Bohemian Rhapsody“).
I get it now, it's great!

Oh i plan to keep exploring for sure!
that live concert is in Wacken/Germany (the biggest rock-metal festival in the world). Apart from that keep in mind that this track is a "SCORE" ...
That makes sense actually
It's impossible for him to include ALL the good songs because then he would have to list them all... no joke!
It seems I can't go wrong with any song I choose!
@@Abigirl_Reacts If you want to get a good taste of Marko right away as a lead singer ... well you could take a look at his band Tarot (the one I mentioned) ... or you can take a look at these 3 Nightwish songs... 1) High Hopes (A Pink Floyd cover) 2) The Islander 3) While your lips are still Red
Those are the 3 off the top of my head where Marko is the lead or sole singer. There are MANY others where Floor is lead of course where Marko (and sometimes Troy) does more or less backing vocals...and some of those are fantastic to hear as well because Marko and Floor together ... well they really work well together!
There is a choir in the backing track, do they count as singers?

@9:20 "Is there an actual full symphony here, that I'm not seeing?". Yes. They play against a back track, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.
During that symphonic interlude the entire band leaves the stage to give full room for that back track.
Id love to hear the symphony live!
So impressive!

Woah how did you know about the zipper?? Behind the scenes?
@@Abigirl_Reacts Behind the scenes? I wish! If you check earlier before she goes off stage, you can see that the zipper under her left arm is partially down. As she walks off stage you can see her feel the zipper with her right hand. When she comes back the zipper is up. Tada! 😄🤘

I think that's what I was noticing as well, thanks for the clarity! I get it now ^_^

Take care 😊

So jealous you got to hear her live!
Tuomas is an amazing lyricist and can tell a story on par with Ren. I'm definitely following this journey.
Happy to have you!
@@DandelionCollab Ren can tell a story, but his music sux lol
Nightwish Amry checking in gabriel is already here, we follow our general
💯
I promise you won't be disappointed with any of the songs from nightwish they are phenonimal you just herd floor there two previous singers tarja and anette both great as well. And a great reaction from you also♥
It seems I can't go wrong with any song I choose! Can't wait!
I've heard this floorgasm term used a few times now, it's hilarious 😂
In the meantime she is a mother and has beaten, I believe, breast cancer. For me together with Taija (former singer of nightwish) the queens of epic rock.
She's impressive indeed!
Thanks for the suggestion! ^_^
So in depth, wow!
Floor also made a cover song of the Disney frozen song. Light metal version
Are you a fan of night wish then? I never heard of them!
I am a sixty year old man and the same thing happens to me when I listen to Floor sing.
You understand my emotion!
Nightwish fan here. But to hear more from Floor you can lsten to a Dutch TV show: "Beste Zangers" (best singers).
Every participant sings an number of the rest of the (singers) crowd.
She gave every song a "metal" sound exept "shalow"!
Duet with Henk Poort "Fantom of the opera"
"Que se siento" from Rolf Sanches
"Shalow" lady gaga cover
Enjoy !
Thanks for the suggestions!
One of the best more recent songs would be An Ocean Of Strange Islands. Just a few weeks old. Also with much variation in it.
This one is highly requested, will most likely do very soon! ^_^
I highly recommend everything Floor did on Beste Zangers 2019. It is a Dutch TV show celebrating music. Her performances are amazing.
Nice, thanks for the heads up!
"Ethereal" works with Floor. Also, on occasion, "demonic".
Very versatile singer, Floor.
Demonic Floor sounds scary!
