Doug is like a jolly wall. I don't know how else to describe it, but his personality is calm and jovial, and his presence is sturdy; grounded.

That pretty much sums up our cultural Christianity. I think they both represent what most patriotic Americans believe, a faith that exists, but isn't practical. As if their God was a genie, Santa, or a wishing upon a star God who understands their hearts and knows deep down inside that they are good people. Meditating on God's Word day and night yields different results, though.

    Convoluted emotional naval gazing.

This vid is a case study in vague western spiritualism mixed with "dogmatic agnosticism". Its difficult to listen to for those who are zealous for Christ, but its good to know what people's opinions are in order to be a better witness. Thanks, Pastor Doug for your critique - on point.

i love Theo. it seems like his heart is not completely hardened like an angry atheist, hes just lost in idolatry. we need to pray for both of them, that they come to Christ and see the true and living God

  • @WayCoolJr27

I had an old timer tell me at an AA meeting that people mistake sobriety with salvation. That is what I hear Theo saying, is that the "process" is god.

Silly conversation, blind leading the blind.

  • @samannunziato5771

Humility used to mean rejecting your own self-adequacy and recognizing dependence on the Lord, now we've secularized it to merely include the rejecting of self-adequacy, which makes it synonymous with relativism, the epistemology of secularism.

Hi. I've seen Jim Gaffigan in concert. He's very funny and very clean and I've always appreciated that. Having said that, he is a huge defender of his fellow "catholic", Biden and has been hateful and judgmental towards conservatives. His wife is the truly religious one in the family

I love the guy who criticizes the ego of humanity just before he claims that he has figured it all out himself. Then he claims that every previous generation of humans were fools to think they have it figured out, except for him, he really does have it actually figured out. You can tell this guy has never read back any of the words he says.

Good response video here. These two are big name comics, especially Gaffigan who claims to be catholic. They are in many ways representative of millions of American's who see themselves as "good people" but have no desire to really stand on foundational Truth when it costs something.

Theo von talking to Doug would be awesome.

  • @Taterstiltskin

I love how he says you have to be humble by being in the "I don't know" space because everyone that came before him is absolutely wrong ... so ... not only does he know that everyone else is wrong, not at all removing himself from his own "I don't know" space with that absolute knowledge, but he's also just humble enough to firmly assert that everyone else is wrong. or... something like that.

    Religious words : god, higher-power, humility, prayer, works-for-me, dislike-the-world, for-me, etc.

  • @paulasueInChrist

The breakdown of the 3 types of agnostics was helpful. I subscribe to Canon+ and am on it every day . But I also subscribe to all of your UA-cam channels as well. I like being able to comment and show my thankfulness for all that y’all are doing in the name of Our Lord up north! Thank you from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana!

They see certainty as pride and arrogance.

  • @Raybo-68

I mean what would one expect from these two particular individuals 😂

  • @silentcal275

Whew this conversation was like philosophical nails on a philisophical chalkboard.

  • @edyou84

These are important topics. I love the energy of your channel.

  • @chrishendricks7362

Theo Von is one of the most influential theologians of our time.
