If Joe Rogan interviewed himself and took things the same way he takes MMA I can only imagine how much he would ridicule himself. In fact, there is a channel where most of his podcast has back and forth from his guests using recurrent visits, like Jordan Peterson trolling themselves. It's time to make one of those with this subject.

      I prefer these bible verses:
      the Bible on slavery:
      Ephesians 6:5 ESV
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,
      Leviticus 25:44-46 ESV
As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.
      Exodus 21:20-21 ESV
“When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be avenged, for the slave is his money.
      Titus 2:9-10 ESV
Slaves are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
      Exodus 21:1-36 ESV
“Now these are the rules that you shall set before them. When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing. If he comes in single, he shall go out single; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out alone...
      Etc, etc
      The Bible on homosexuality:
      Leviticus 18:22
“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin." (NLT)
      Leviticus 20:13
"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense." (NLT)
      1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Don't you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people- none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
      Etc, etc..
The Bible on r*pists marrying their victims:
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days."

Good point. The other Joe Rogan apologist he had on the show says it's a type of arrogance to know there is a God and know his will.
I say it's incredible arrogance to think they the 2% of aggregate knowledge that scientists have acquired over all the fields discovering the depths and workings of the universe is enough to declare that God is dead or never existed. That seems like arrogance, they will say "I'm just saying I dont know". To which everyone should say..."that's obvious".

So if you had a conversation with Jesus and the apostle Paul, after you heard Jesus say to the malevolent religious leaders: you are of your father the devil and the works of the your father you are doing, and then you remembered that Jesus had said to Nicodemus "you must be born again", and then you remember that Paul taught that "rich and poor, high and low - you are one in Christ" as well as "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
      1 Corinthians 15:22
Wouldn't you conclude that all of humanity is in the same predicament, so if Jesus said that about the pharisees, doesn't that logically mean it's equally applicable to us as well?

I believe he did see " elves" but not in the way he thinks, using drugs to make contact with spirits is nothing new. More proof of elves? Through what exactly, personal experience and ancient stories? Fallen spirit beings are much easier to make contact with because they seek humanities ruin, which is why it was forbidden time and time again. Christians can make the same claim in regards to their experiences and in the historicity of the bible as evidence as well. It is what you choose to believe. I think he is pointing out there is as much evidence for elves as God, and in that sense, he's got MORE evidence for elves than God based on his personal experience. By what reason would he take YOUR word for it?
The rest of your analysis is your belief, and without getting into it more deeply doesn't really interest me, because it doesn't seem rooted in reality, but the need to defend your own magical thinking so lacks integrity or credibility.
No, Christians can't claim validity because someone else makes something else up. That's not how truth works.
He is honestly expressing his personal experience which can't be a lie, but a belief. EXACTLY THE SAME can be said of every Christian, but Joe's not running a scam built on his personal beliefs. That was his point.
Did you miss that in your need to defend your sacred cow that has been responsible for a shitload of evil? Rape of children, approval of slavery (for a long time), murder, etc? Shouldn't Christianity worry less about what non-believers are saying and clean up their damn churches??

If you cannot get a definition right I don't see the point of debating but I will say this, you cannot state what other people feel as fact simply based on your own projected beliefs onto them, you literally spoke for all theists based on what you personally believe or do not believe about God while skewing the meaning of the word agnostic.
The majority of my post was deleted so I have to edit
      I will also say
What people do in the name of religion and what Christ actually taught are two different things. People will always use various methods to gain power and money, including abusing a position of authority in a Church, that in no way means there are no Christians who follow the Word of God. Is not this stereotyping? I know it is fashionable to attack Christians but still should not the facts of the matter be examined?
I will never defend horrible acts done in the name of God, because Christ never taught it, in fact he spoke against such things and the bible spoke about people abusing their power in the church way before it happened. Never was slavery or any malicious thing taught in the new testament. I already know the thought, the OLD testament is so horrible and etc....but if you are not willing to understand what the OT was about then all you are doing is staying willfully ignorant for the sake of making accusations. Theology and context go a long way.
No Christian ever tells anyone, " take my word for it " but they preach and pray and study and seek out God. However Joe Rogan is doing just that while speaking his rants on his podcast due to his influence. It is simple, he mocks spiritual matters, yet he himself believes in "clock work elves" it is hypocritical and contradicting. In other words, he dismisses and mocks spiritual things he did not experience, while holding onto his own as fact all the while proclaiming it. Absolute double standard. Especially since he takes the scientific approach, and personal experience is the lowest form of scientific evidence. Christianity has more than just personal experience.
You brought up the word nephilim as a biblical word to defend the belief in elves, I defined it as such in the biblical sense. Not sure how that counts as magical analysis or thinking lacking integrity or credibility. Lacks integrity? Do you need the definition to that word as well?
1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : INCORRUPTIBILITY
2: an unimpaired condition : SOUNDNESS
3: the quality or state of being complete or undivided : COMPLETENESS
Credibility? The Bible is the most read book on the planet and has stood the test of time and attack. Here I will just define it
1: the quality or power of inspiring belief
      an account lacking in credibility
      2: capacity for belief
      Her account exceeds credibility.
No one is claiming validity due to someone else's lies or that even lies are being said. Simply the hypocrisy behind it all.
Is their corruption in Churches? As stated people will fleece the flock and be false Christians, but that does not mean real Christians will not defend their beliefs.

He rants about other people making up morals but then makes up morals that he expects everyone else to follow. And the sad part is that his 3 hour podcasts are so popular and so wide spread. He is proselytizing his own philosophy and religion to everyone who spends hours listening to his drug induced rants. Sometimes they are interesting (I have never watched 3 hours of him though) but I know many "Christians" who will never miss an episode but think an hour and a half once a week for church is too much time to give up. Our culture is in a sad state of affairs and it has EVERYTHING to do with satan and his lies. God's judgement is on us all for this mess we have created.

      But God wouldn’t command cruelty?

Well, actually…God does. According to the Bible, God commands cruel and unjust things left and right. For example, God commands that we kill people who have sex outside of marriage (Leviticus 20:10) and he commands that we kill homosexuals (Leviticus 20:13), as well as people who work on the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2). God even commands that entire peoples -- such as the Canaanites and Jebusites -- be exterminated (Joshua 1- 12). , “that’s just the tip of the iceberg.” Indeed, to provide a comprehensive list of all the moral - immoral acts ? commandments God issues would entail the writing of an entire book in and of itself

And yet not a single rebuttal by Lewis apples in your statement that provides literally ZERO points.

@@matthewsheppard7050 The irony is that Lewis was using chronological snobbery to make the point about chronological snobbery.
Further, it's an informal fallacy - the long and short of the argument isn't made or lost based on WHEN it was made, but based on the validity of the POV.
The idea that there is inherent value to past values is itself snobbery without basis.
I get the "greater men" argument puts yourself in a submissive posture because you're conditioned to think that if someone tells you something, you must believe it, regardless of the veracity of the point. Such is how cults are made.
If you 'don't know what I am on about', I heartily agree, because you're not actually trying to hear another point of view. This is endemic to your pattern of response and is it's own type of confirmation bias snobbery.
See what I do here? A lot of the defense of apologism is simple projection and I do tend to let your type espouse your critiques of others POV which is always (without fail) the very element that undermines your non-critical, kneejerk apologists POV. Lewis had some pretty sophisticated perspectives based on his life experience, but that doesn't make his perspectives without the ability to question or critique - ALL of the past, present and future perspectives SHOULD be healthily challenged and critiqued and not seen as "better" than your ability to be an adult thinker.

What strawman did I build by pointing out the fallacy of the "chronological snobbery" position as being invalid? That the chronology itself is of no regard in terms of the validity of a position?
Perhaps you're in over your head, son. Dare I ask if you've had any postsecondary education, just so I can calibrate what kinds of language I should use so you don't complain it's over your head?

Try as I may I find that your argument that Lewis is somehow using Chronological Snobbery to make a point about Chronological Snobbery is impossible to follow. Considering that Lewis is not making a judgement on the value of a past assumption but simply that past assumptions are not inherently invalid because they were in the past. For him to be using Chronological Snobbery to justify Chronological Snobbery he would need to make an argument such as this. “Arguments in the past are better than arguments in the present.” Of course he didn’t make that argument as I have already demonstrated.
The greater men argument was referring to Rogan’s arguments not to their objectors. There are greater men than Rogan who espoused the same arguments and those arguments I believe have been thoroughly and soundly undone by other apologists and scholars.
If you knew me, you would know I am one of the most critical people you would encounter. My wife hates it.
Christianity is by definition not a cult and while there are cults within Christianity the points made by the likes of Lewis or Wilson are mainline Christian points. I don’t understand what you are talking about because I sincerely don’t believe you have a proper understanding of what Chronological Snobbery is.
I’m not sure how you know what is endemic within my responses considering you have only once interacted with me. I have no idea what you do here. But alas, I have wasted enough time here and must get on to more important work. The last thing I will say is that you’re making a very broad statement when you say “…I do tend to let your type espouse your critiques of others POV which is always (without fail) the very element that undermines your non-critical, kneejerk apologists POV” It is very unwise to say things like “your type” and assuming we are all non-critical in our thinking. I actually love Joe Rogan and he makes very good points about several topics he discusses on his show and I think he’s genuinely a caring guy. That being said, he obviously has never talked to a true apologist or a very well versed Christian pastor or believer. I hope he does and comes to a knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ, because I’d love to see him in heaven one day.

Sad thing is both Rogan and Boghossian have done more to fight the woke madness and Covid regime than 90% of Christian pastors and influencers. Doug and crew being one of the few exceptions. I really wish Doug, Jeff Durbin, or another knowledgeable Christian could get on his show. It'd be good to see him find the source of the common grace he has so obviously received in so many areas.

    • @n88986

Amazingly, Boghossian didn't learn from being pressured out of his position at PSU that the Woke atheists there, who hate God and Christians, see themselves as having the moral high ground over Boghossian--even going so far as equating him as a Nazi. So Boghossian, with Rogan, used the same apologetic tactic to tear down Christians that the Woke Vikings (PSU mascot) used on Boghossian. If its not valid for the woke to do then its not valid for Boghossian to do.

@@n88986 I don't actually think Boghossian is that bright overall. I've seen him do role plays of his street epistemology method with fellow atheists who even said they didn't find his arguments that convincing. Tim McGrew pretty effectively destroyed him in a debate on the topic. But I give credit where it's due on his work in exposing the woke infestation of academia.

@@johnny2100 First, I never asked him to do die for me. Any god that demands human sacrifice for forgiveness is evil and I would never pray to such a being even if I believed it existed. Second, I repent for my sins by improving myself and becoming a better person, not through god. I was baptised as a baby, though if I was given a choice as an adult I would have refused. If someone is not baptised, but met every other condition for being a good christian do you think he would go to heaven? If the answer is no then review your moral compass. Third, which denomination of christianity should I follow? There are quite a few and some of them contradict each other. What if I just want to live my life and not spread the gospel? What would be the punishment for not proselytizing? If you pray for me sincerely then I would say thank you, but please do something more productive with your time.

I'm a big fan of Joe and I believe in Christianity. Joe over the last few years strikes me as a low key Christian. He doesn't seem to wear faith on his sleeve, and certainly doesn't cite scripture, but if you listen to his ideas about society and humanity you'll hear an empathy that is for all, a disgust for all things nonsense, and a profound reverence for Truth.
