      No problem. There has been a few nice mods since this was posted. Guards and now also has a foot operation and outfeed table.
      I’m currently making a Bandsaw mill. Not far from finished. I do have some footage of the build but it just takes much longer to film and work. I will do a vid once it’s up and running. 👍

      west coast logging alex esgate, yeah! Last week I had a problem with it and cranking that thing near killed me! I put a little drill drive bit on the end and used a power drill! You can see the bit in the vid!

    Before serching your channel I asked about the engine on the first video that came up. I didn't realize Lister made a gasoline engine. In fact I've only seen pics and videos of them. That one sounds like it's easing along thru that wood.

      Phil, thanks. It produces only 1 1/2 hp! Long stroke and 70lb flywheel along with two 70lb flywheels on the splitter part make it work really well. I love using it. No need for ear plugs, not stressful, nice to hear and very economical.

      Jan Kotze. Would think it can only be something simple. I had some running issues until I changed the spark plug.

    Hi, best splitter on you tube I think - Its inspired me to try and build a similar one, any ideas on sourcing a rack and pinion please? Regards Steve

    • @tinkertime7165
      @tinkertime7165  5 років тому

      Steve Booy, that was the hardest parts to get. And the most expensive. I purchased the rack and pinion from Supersplit in the states. They make and sell splitters. The rack and pinion is available as a spare part. I think about 400 dollars for both but worth every cent/penny.

      In the process of building one currently. I sourced the rack and pinion (both Martin parts) from Amazon. You can get quite a good deal if you can adapt your design to a different pinion size. Rack still cost me a couple hundred for a 2" face 4 pitch.

    How does the arm release once it gets to the end of the cycle?

    Hi - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I'm about to haul out my 1951 Lister D engine that I haven't run in years. Please advise the situation regarding fuel. Can I run it on ordinary petrol, do I need to use some form of lead replacement additive or will I have to upgrade the valves somehow? I would greatly appreciate any clarification.

      Ooophs - if I had used whatever limited intelligence I have I would have twigged that if the Lister can run on paraffin it can cope with unleaded fuel. Looking forward to your next splitting video.

      I have run it on unleaded for years. I have never heard of anyone using lead substitute or additives.

    That looks very nice, to see that pile of split Ash getting bigger is hypnotic. What type of log burner do you use these on ?

      Englishman French, I replied to this comment on the other vid! Sorry. I'm in a muddle. I can watch that little machine chug away, quite relaxing.

    If you show how you made it or at least take it apart and video putting it back together so others can help themselves I can see you would get loads of views, likes, and subscriptions. Others that show the fabrication, and assembly get the likes and subscriptions. The other day I heard my brother scolding his boys for wasting their life watching others play video games on youtube, I chuckled when I thought of grown men watching another split wood without the instruction of how to build what they are watching. That being said I do believe you have the best design. Now show the build and get the likes you deserve.

      Thanks. I just don't have the time to do the filming and editing. I figured this was better than nothing and at least some can get ideas.

    Could you tell me what hp is please I’ve got a 1hp and want to make one do you think it will be enough power thank you Michael

    • @daviasdf
      @daviasdf 4 роки тому +1

      Read his other comments - he already said it was 1.5hp. The beauty of a kinetic splitter is that you don't need a lot of horsepower. So long as there's enough time between splits for the flywheel to recover its rotational velocity you won't notice a change in performance. The only noticeable difference in running a 1hp motor will be the increase in spin up time if you completely stall the flywheels on something nasty.
