SuperCarlinBrothers When all four of them were on top the building ( in fantastic beast) watching credence destroy the city; I think Jacob could see credence.
I think it would be also cool if later in the series he sees a magical beast that only is seen by magic people and Newt is saying that Jacob couldn't see it but at the same time Jacob is saying how cute it is or something. Then Newt realises that Jacob is a squib.
i mean it kinda already happened? in the fantastic beasts book (not the screenplay the one newt wrote) its said that mooncalfs will avoid contact with muggles at all costs, and obviously jacob feeds them in newts case. problem with that is that obviously newt wouldve said something so im not entirely sure, but he wrote the book after the events of the movies, so maybe he didnt know that mooncalfs avoid muggles yet.
I think that Muggles with ties to the magical world can notice magic. Look at Hermione's parents they're muggles but they can see magical things because they know what to look for. Or once they're past the magical boundaries they can see it. Take the fourth book where Mr.Robsion can notice magical things and keeps having to get memory charms placed on him.
I was thinking the same thing. The Grangers got into diagon alley meaning they could see the leaky cauldron, and I think there was a muggleborn kid at the quidditch world cup with his parents. Muggles seem to be able to see magical things if they are aware of them
Starmadien2019 yeah but on pottermore it says muggleborns are the descendants of squibs who married into the muggle world, with the magic Gene or something being dormant for many generations before showing up, so her parents are technically squibs, I think Jacob is also a few generations after the last magical ancestors, and doesn't know he's a squib, much like Hermione's parents
Hanna Berga if you read correctly muggles can get into the leaky-cauldron if aided and the only thing you need then is a wand and the knowledgeable where to tap
Something I never got while watching Crimes of Grindelwald... Why didn't Jacob and Queenie just... move the Europe? Where Muggle/Witch marriage is... totally legal? His Bakery? Magic it into a box. Passports? Newt found a way around that. Family? We don't know Jacob's, and Tina could probably visit in between missions. This problem literally existed ONLY to turn Queenie to Grindey-wald's side...
Could possible that non magical history like the world wars might have played a part in that. We know that the wizard world was very hit and miss on what they should do during WWII and it's likely that in that time many wizards ESPECIALLY squibs and muggleborns would've been at a big risk so it's possible the American ministry would have restricted travel of wizards to Europe at the time, we don't know this for certain but, it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch when you consider how overly protective the wizarding world can be. I'd actually love to know more about how each country in the wizarding world dealt with large scale history happening because I find it hard to believe that wizards in Germany, Japan or other places wouldn't have been influenced the same as muggles in our own world were as it would be a scenario probably ripe with purists. -shrug- though that's probably a theory in of itself
Okui Aohara / Silver Sky but they could have also taken a muggle boat like Newt did in the first movie. Besides, when Grindelwald showed his gathering the vision of WWll, Jacob's reaction and saying "another World War" implies that it hasn't even started yet, so muggle travel at least shouldn't be affected...
@@insertclevernamehere1186 I think we might because on the wizarding world website, it mentioned a school in Brazil (where the next movie is) and two more, in Japan and somewhere in Africa. So I wouldn't see why JK would make articles about them unless they were somehow tied into a book or movie.
I really want both theories to be true: Jacob being subtly magical and a fellow (almost) Hufflepuff would explain how Newt and Jacob hit it off so well.
I found it really weird the Squibs thing. It reads that a Squib needs one magical parent to be one. That a Muggle-Born had a Squib in family ground an Ancestor. So why not Dudley is not a Squib,? Or even his mother? Lily had Squib in her family's background.
Tina: *calls Jacob a No-Maj* Queenie: *calls Jacob a No-Maj* Newt: *calls Jacob a Muggle* Jacob: *confused* So what am I, a No-Maj or a Muggle? Me: No, you’re a Squib
Aaaah big discovery on Potter more or in the quidditch through the ages the semifinals of 2014 between USA and I think either Brazil or Bulgaria there is mention of a quidditch player with the last name of ... wait for it Kowalski
Daniel Brzozowski how would JK rowling know that tho? plus it’s a story so it doesn’t have to be accurate in the real world meaning there could be only several Kowalski’s in the world of HP
I came back to this video after seeing the “Secrets of Dumbledore” trailer and I’m 100% certain now that he is a squib. He was in Hogwarts and was able to see everything.
I bet you are wrong. The answer to Jacob's wand is simple. He is a Wizard, Harry. JK was asked about Muggles displaying magic later in life. She said it's so rare that there was only one recorded person in the world she created to do it and they did so around the time frame of Fantastic Beasts from HP. Jacob is that person obviously.
I wonder if a crup would be able to tell? Crup's are usually ferocious toward muggles, but if a Crup treated Jacob like "hey you're neat", well that would explain some things, maybe he has a very very low level of magic?
This might explain why the memory charm conveniently wore off. Edit because what I wrote seems to be unclear: yes, I’ve seen the movies, yes I know the in movie explanation. But, I’ve always found it odd how if the potion only removes bad memories, why Kowalski seemed to have forgotten everything at the end of FBAWTFT, only remembering it in his subconscious. Secondly, if seeing Queenie was the sole reason his memories came back fully, why when she entered the bakery? You could argue that during the rain scene his mind was being consistently blanked, I suppose. Still, the whole “only bad memories” seems too convenient. Newt even explains that Kowalski would lose all memory of magic, and I assume the American version of the ministry (I forget what it was called) would keep tabs on him due to the fact that they seem hyper concerned with keeping knowledge of magic hidden. Edit edit: even if the movie is right it at least lends support to him being a Squib since, as said in the video, Squibs have an affinity to magical creatures, if all of Kowalski’s memories were good, including the one with the rhino-esque one (I can’t spell the name,) as proven by the pastry version of it, he must either have a strange idea of good memories, or, the potion didn’t fully work on him. Or, as said previously, he has an affinity for these creatures.
alic seprin I definitely recommend watching the second movie for more details. And while a Legilimens can plant false memories or visions (like Voldemort did with Harry), ones that don’t naturally exist within the mind, they have to be extremely powerful. Going of Voldemort isn’t a great idea, since he was the most powerful one in the world, according to Snape. My thought process for this since I finished the first movie has always been that I think Jacob enjoyed his experience overall so most of the memories would be retained; it takes away bad memories. Seeing destruction and havoc is scary for people, especially if they don’t understand the cause and have no context. If I went outside my door and someone tackled me to the ground, I’d be freaked out. But if I knew it was because someone was trying to assassinate me and by tackling me they took me out of the sight of the other person, I’d be happy they helped me; context is important. Jacob knew why the weird things were happening and knew his friends were with him. He had someone he was falling in love with. And that tends to make you feel better about a situation, no matter how bad it is. It’s like as a kid, I felt things could never get too bad if my dad was with me, because he’d handle whatever happened. So I can see the premise of the potion working on other people because it’s so out of context and scary. But to him, it’s less bad and more scary but thrilling, and most of it was more... wondrous, awe-inspiring, and fun. Seeing the amazing creatures and witnessing magic, eating really good magical food, that’s not all bad. So he’d have at least some memory. I figured they could fudge it either way, say the food in his pastry shop was inspired by subconscious memories, or that he remembers those parts for real, because they were good. My guess was they were waiting to see if he was a fan Favorite or not. And if people didn’t like him, he’d not remember or come back. Smart move, really.
Hahah, I just always thought it was the "he must have a strange idea of good memories" thing personally. I mean the rhino-thing was scary at the time, but it's one of those things you laugh about afterwards and tell funny stories about.
Won’t work As for what I gathered on the Seer (Seer did the term of a person who actually uses fortune telling) A seer performs a act that allows them to see the future and even tel the fortune A seer can’t be a squib Since a squib would had to do a act whit her only a person who performs magic can It is like the whole talking to snake thing works A squib would also not speak it
Wait. If Jacob is a Squib, and there are no laws against witches and wizards marrying Squibs, then that would remove Queenie's motivation for joining Grindelwald, wouldn't it?
I mean no one knows of he is so I don't think that effects her decision, just later she'll have egg on her face when she realizes had she stopped, thought, and listened to Jacob theyd be happy
The McGonagall gold chain just made me think of something. In the books, it’s mentioned McGonagall was the one who wrote to the Ministry and negotiated to get Hermione a time turner. We also know all that time stuff is part of the Department of Mysteries, and anyone outside of that department, even other people at the ministry, know nothing or at least a very limited amount, about the Department and what goes on. Why was McGonagall of all people able to pull some strings? Well if she had a broadly secret (only a select few outside of the department of mysteries would even know, Dumbledore being one) history of time travel, possibly is aid of Dumbledore and taking down Grindelwald, conceivably she would totally be someone who could pull some strings with the Department of Mysteries. In fact she would be one of the very few able to do so, or they could even conceivably trust.
My most memorable moment of CoG is when Jakob says "Not another war." I think that's a hard-hitting moment that gets glossed over by the rest of the film. The fact that he is battle tried and knows the pain of sacrifice. We don't give him enough credit!
He also says “you can read minds?” After Newt calls Queenie a ligilamens with no other context. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think muggles know what ligilamens are.
Jacob doesn't need to know what ligilamens are. Queenie has been responding and commenting on almost every single thought he created in his mind since he appeared in her house.
Also Latin was commonly taught in schools, even non-Catholic (Jacob's name is Jewish), so he could just have translated the word which literally means "they are reading thoughts" in Latin.
What if it’s actually that he’s muggle born and he’s parents never sent him to hogwarts or that the quill and book of acceptance never agreed on him coz he never displayed “enough” magic
@@kadybesheer7904 yes but they don't always agree, sometimes the quill wants to write in the book but the book won't let him. Maybe he's just like neville if neville never got in?
If he never ever knew he's a wizard or knew but didn't go to magic school and stuff, that would end very badly. And i mean "death at the age of 10" badly
I think it's more he walks through a certain veil and sees it I assume it has charms and what not so muggles don't go-to it but if they go close enough boom school
2 possibilities: 1. The fact that he is an obscurial probably concealed and currupted his magic in this dark parasitic and destructive energy so whoever recruit people at Illvermorny wouldn't notice he was magical maybe. The same way it kinda happened to Ariana. 2. Maybe just like the Dursley tried to do with Harry when he received his Hogwart's letter... Mary Lou probably destroyed it and never allowed him to go to Illvermorny...
@@princeollie1022 Also the Carlin Bros explain this in another video. That he could be in fact an accidental bio-magic creation of Dumbledore. When his sister Ariana died. he may have tried to use the Sorcerer's stone to give her Obscurial her body back... but instead, it created a NEW body entirely... Dumbledore was too grieved of his failure, to revive his sister, and gave the baby up, that baby then made it to America. That's how he can be a 'brother' to Dumbledore without Albus knowing he carries the line of the Dumbledores. He is basically a magical clone of the late Ariana. Since he is a clone of a girl that was older than 11 at the time of his creation, that may explain why: 1: He wasn't written into the School's record book... and 2: He has no family. Technically his genetic profile is older than 11 at the time of his birth so he wouldn't receive a letter. Also, it could be that he isn't in fact human... But a new type of magical subspecies and I haven't seen any goblins at Hogwart or Ivermony
@@aaronrieser5468 Yeah that would make sense if the theory of Carlin Bros is true (which isn't confirmed or refuted yet). At the time I wrote my comment tho, that video didn't exist yet so I went with what I had at the time ^^
Fairy Joa I wasn’t refuting what you said. Your conclusions seem more plausible to be honest. Considering his mom is anti magic and may know about the magical world she may have been smart enough to destroy his letter. But I also think it’s because he doesn’t officially register as human
I SO hope Jacob is just a muggle. This whole series seems to be the opposite of Harry Potter: the NOT Chosen Ones being heroes. We need him being the muggle in the team
tsukigalleta plus having Jacob be a squib undercuts Quenie’s perceived sacrifice to go w/ Grindalwald for the sake of true love. I also hope Jacob is a muggle
I also hope that he is just a Muggle as well. That, to me, gives hope that even a plain, regular Muggle people can get swept up into magic and can be a part of more than just themselves.

We know for sure that his father was Polish, because his surname - Kowalski (Blacksmith) is the most popular surname here and because of "pączki". Pączki are traditional polish type of pastry filled with raspberry or rose marmalade. Around the time when Jacob was born, Polish people starts emigrate to USA (especially military families and lonely guys at reproductive age) and peak of Polish emigration to the USA was between I and II world war or the very beginning of the II world war. In Chicago to this day is the biggest polish diaspora in the world I think.
Wouldn't kowal be blacksmith? The "Ski" ending means "son of" (of course). It's an occupational last name like in English: "Baker", "Tailor/Taylor" or "Smith". :-)
And what if Jacob is actually a Wizard? And he never got his school invitation because he was migrating. What if in one of the future movies he picks up a wand and something happens. I love this video! Opens so much possibilities!
Here is a ridiculous what if. What if there are adults who have the magical gene but it was never activated in life so they would be considered squibs or muggles. But then something later in their adulthood happens to then activates that gene and suddenly in later life starts showing magical abilities instead of childhood. I wonder what would happen if it does? How would the magical world deal with such a thing? Would they create aadult education for newly "magically awakened" adults?
@@Marika50 The answer to Jacob's wand is simple. He is a Wizard, Harry. JK was asked about Muggles displaying magic later in life. The question that I want to know is, can 2 muggle parents give birth to a squib? They would essentially be a muggle born, but with no magical powers. The difference would be that they aren’t affected by anti-muggle spells and can see things that other people can’t. I think that some people might interpret this as hallucinations or some type of mental disorder. Thoughts?
As far as I know. The definition of a squib is someone born to pureblood parents that has no magical powers. So therefore muggle parents can’t make a squib.
They wouldn't be called squibs, per se, but I understand the idea. Basically, the abilities of a squib but without magic parents? So they'd basically be muggles with extra intuition.
Pretty sure that violates what we know about the magical world. Both muggle parents would have to be the descendants of squibs themselves but so far removed that they had no knowledge of magic. Like Hermione's parents. With this squib ancestor and all knowledge of magic is so far back in the bloodline that no one recognizes it. Therefore for all of the intervening Generations exactly what you're talkin about must happen where they carry some remnant of the magical gene but only when paired with someone else who also carries some shredded leftover of the magic gene can a magical child be born. All of those intervening Generations past the third generation of squib descendants would still be considered muggles. Weather Jacob is a squib or not is totally irrelevant if he marries Queen and they have a child. The child would be considered Half-Blood just like Harry.
Neither of you are right. The rain only wiped away bad memories, which is why it didnt work on him. He didnt have any "bad' memories. He enjoyed his time with Newt, Queenie and Tina. This is clearly stated in the movies. lol
@@roryedward2631 yes but that seemed to be kind of a weak explanation imo. I like the idea of him being a squib contributing to him retaining the memory.
it's also possible that one of his ancestor was squib and got disowned as a baby, who's descendants were also squibs, which would explain the cluelessness
Squibs are non-magical by definition, they have no access to magic. Descendants of squibs would be the children of non-magical parents, making them normal muggles and not squibs. Squibs MUST have at least one fully magic parent to be a squib. Also, sorry for responding to this like a year after you posted it.
@@LunatheMoonDragon you have a good point, but think about this it's a magical gene it doesn't disappear going down the chain of descendants. Hermione is a Muggle-Born it is theorize that she had a Squib in her ancestry.
@@sophiawilson8696 According to the official rules, in order to be a squib, you MUST have at least one fully magical parent. Your theory, as stated here, is that an ancestor of his was a squib, which is how he could have had it. Unfortunately, his distant ancestry doesn't make any difference here, as he MUST have had one fully magical direct parent in order to be a squib.
@@LunatheMoonDragon thanks for answering this very logical. However you didn't answer my question the Squibs genetic disposition that in two or three generations that their descendants might have the magical gene. So does this gene just disappear?.
@@sophiawilson8696 Well, we're talking about magic made up stuff here, so it's possible that it just disappears. But if you're looking for a more direct scientific answer, I'd say that it's definitely not the same as a recessive gene. I am absolutely not an expert on genetics, but I'd say that some kind of magical tomfoolery is afoot rather than it having a perfect corollary in reality
No its sandwhiches. let me explain. in both movies we see magical powers being cast by female characters, and a female user of magic is a witch. and what is a part of the word Sandwhich? Which. Which sounds and is spelled very similar to Witch. Therefore, in worlds that have magic the term is we finish each others sandwhiches because female users of magical abilities are called Witches. and their power comes from the sand, aka the ground aka earth aka the natural magic present in their worlds.
When I was watching Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald I was shouting " NO QUEENIE!!!!!! DONT GO IN THE CIRCLE!!!!!! Noooooooooooooooo!!!!!! In the theater.
I think that the portion about muggles only seeing old ruins only applies to muggles who are unaware of the wizarding world. Because if a muggle-born student needed to be picked up or something by their muggle parents, the muggle parents would need to see the castle. So I think the spell gets lifted on any muggle that finds out about the wizarding world.
We don't know about the way Muggles perceive Hogwarts inside the perimeter of the castle. Like the tent in book 7, it must be disguised from the outside, and spelled with anti-Muggle curses, but I guess that once your are inside the bounds you are good to go. Also he was invited in the castle by staff members, so that's a thing too
The answer to Jacob's wand is simple. He is a Wizard, Harry. JK was asked about Muggles displaying magic later in life and not at 11 when they normally get a Hogwarts letter. She said it can happen, but it's so rare that there was only one recorded person in the world she created managed it and they did so around the time frame of Fantastic Beasts from HP. Jacob is that person obviously.
Woah, Woah, Woah. I was reading fantastic beasts and where to find them (not the screen play). It states that there are charms put on magical beasts so that muggles can't see them. Jacob can clearly see them.
There's an alternative explanation though, okay so we know Jacob came to America with his parents but was born in Poland, being born in Poland he should have joined either Durmstrang or Koldovstoretz if he was magical, but since he came to America he should join Ilvermorny, how are the students for both these schools selected? And are they as perfect as Hogwarts? If not, maybe Durmstrang's/Koldovstoretz's and Ilvermorny's selection process got confused and he never received an invitation to join any of the schools because each school assumed he was going to attend the other, it could be possible that he is magical but fell in between the cracks. But I hear you, "wouldn't he have realized he was magical"? I mean, Harry made a glass disappear and didn't realize he was a wizard in fact he told Hagrid that he couldn't be a wizard days after. Maybe when he grew up he just attributed any event he may have accidentally caused to flights of a child's imagination and forgot all about it, maybe with the stress and horror of a war he caused some more events but with the confusion that it was he didn't even see them.
New theory: Filch actually can’t see the castle and just always wanders through the ruins. This explains why he seems to show up everywhere in a split second. Because he can walk through the wall because there is none. He seems to show up out of nowhere because the magical people do see the castle and never see him coming from the other side of the wall. Crazy theory but could be true🤔
Hé knows when kids are out of bed. The beds are IN the castle. And he hammers all those commandments to the walls. He can definitely see the castle He sees Mrs Norris hanging in the hall and can read the writing on the wall.
He is not actually walking through the walls but he is literally seeing through the walls. Which is enough to find and surprise someone. He also know where the passageways are because can he sees the hidden patchways behind walls. Basically are the walls look like partially collapsed walls for him. There is enough parts to still see where the rooms are and to hang something on the wall. But huge parts of the walls are transparent to him due to the ruins illusion.
But... I have a vague memory of reading in one of the HP books that a muggle borns family visited Hogwarts sometime. I think the key is with muggles that they don’t see it on their own, but if being brought somewhere magical, they can see it as it somehow makes the anti-muggle spells ineffective. Just look at Hermione’s parents visiting Diagon Alley for example, they’re both muggles and by all means shouldn’t be able to go to Diagon Alley, or platform 9 3/4 for that matter, which I think even Petunia visited once? And it also seems unknown whether squibs can or can not see all magic creatures, as mentioned in Order of the Phoenix when Arabella Figg is questioned about the dementors and the Wizwengamot didn’t know that squibs could see dementors. I do believe that magical creatures are all around in the series, only muggles can not see them on their own, but may be able to see them if a wizard has introduced it to them so they’re aware of the magical world’s existence. Jacob was made aware of the existence of magic and magical creatures, and became more and more open minded to it. If he was indeed a squib I’d be surprised tbh as squibs seem to be aware of the existence of magic since one or both parents are magic, and if going back to Arabella Figg or Mr Filch it’s quite clear that they’re very aware of magic, but just unable to perform any of their own
One of the reasons for the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures is to ensure magical creatures stay away from Muggles. The Statute of Secrecy wouldn't be so important to keep under control if Muggles couldn't see magical things.
And that his mind wasn't completely wiped after the first movie. And could still remember what the creatures look like that he was baking for his pastry shop.
Ok so I just clicked over to Fantastic Beast and where to find them and at the beginning there is a muggle describing a "big black mass" that went down underground, so its one of two things...........1 Credence could make himself invisible at will or................. 2 this was just a detail skipped over by the development team on this film which is likely as they do not hold this lore in such high regard as we nerds
@@rainynight02 Muggles can see wizardly things. The only reason they cannot see Hogwarts is because of the spells upon it. I read about in Hogwarts a History.
I have that feeling too. Like come on the clues are way too obvious. In the franchise it's said that muggles can't see magical creatures and they can't see Hogwarts only people who have magical blood in them can see them. I think we'll eventually learn Jacob's true backstory in future movie installments.
Also, in the first movie when we see jacob's house there is a scene when a man's photograph hanging on the wall falls down and we see a magical beast there. So that man could be jacob's father. The photo was shown to us as it may play an inportant role in the later series.
Counter theory, Jakob is a muggle born wizard who's parents chose not to allow him to attend Ilvermorny so the magical representative wiped all memory of their meeting from the family's minds.

I have always felt like Jakob was a magickal person. To me he seems to look at life with awe and the innocence of a child. I also feel that the fact that he had his mind wiped on more than one occasion yet could still remember the beast to make into pastry is proof that he's not your everyday muggle.
Little secret a lot of people dont know is. Jacob shouldn't have been able to apparate or teleport VIA port key if he was a muggle. I picked up on that from the first movie. Muggles can no, even with the help of a wizard apparate or teleport.
Nah, Jacob needs to be a muggle otherwise the whole "muggles vs wizards" argument of which he is a part looses value if he is a squib. Not all magical things are invisible, hence the need for the muggle misinformation and obliviators from the ministry. Also maybe hogwarts only looks like a ruin from the outside, and Jacob only makes it in past all the suggestion baised charms (ment to keep muggles out) because he is being walked in with wizards.
@@skelitonking117 I mean the whole muggles vs wizard, statute of secrecy, societal seperation, magic is might argument. How muggles are seen as some to be less than wizards and as others as equil to wizards just lacking magic.
@Irsyad Aman I hope this is right because imagine if there exist an evil wizard/witch who paid attentions to muggle's tech and decided to use all of their magical resources to replicate muggle's invention only ten times more dangerous. Like, imagine the things that Fred and George created being improved with intention as warfare tech. Good thing that magical folks in the Harry Potter verse is so ignorant to the muggles.
I'm returning to this Video after seeing the trailer of Fantastic Beast: Secrets of Dumbledor just to tell you YES, there are good chances of Jacob being a Squib. cheers!
I'm for the Squib theory, I was feeling that even in the first movie. As for everyone calling him a Muggle, in a way for the the wizarding world, it's almost right, since Squibs are looked down upon in a similar fashion or even worse as they are a stain on Pure households. While I don't know for sure, I always thought maybe Jacob came from a family where neither parent really wanted him much, hence why he spent so much time with his Grandmother and learned all her recipes and such. It would make even more sense if she was basically his 'replacement mom' if say, his Magical mother, who had a love afair with a muggle, found out her baby was non-magic and totally couldn't keep him in her world... so she'd send him to the father, who'd send him to Grandma in America. just a thought.
Hey brother! Excellent videos guys! FYI Sunday, February 24th, on SYFY: Just saw a brief clip during the commercials where Dan Fogle (the actor that portrays Jacob K) talks about one of his favorite scenes in Chamber of Secrets (the show that was playing at the time) where Harry is freed from his room when the bars on his bedroom window are pulled away by the flying car. They show that segment Then TV clip ends by going back to Dan Fogler saying that not all muggles/ no-mages are as bad as the Dursleys, implying that his character Jacob is an example of the good kind of muggle/ no-mage.
I’m in the UK and have seen it and will not be posting a single spoiler but I just wanted to say that ever since it came out I cannot wait for you to see it and all the videos and discussions that’ll come after!! (And I loved it!)
Hey umm could u talk about Dobby if you haven't. I mean during the Deathly Hallows book. Nobody wouldve been paying him anymore or did Aberforth inherit him and thats how he quickly called Dobby. Idk if u have talked about this but pls do.
I dunno, Snape was headmaster, so he may have kept paying him as a kitchen elf on the dl. Voldemort wasn't likely to pay much attention to 1 galleon a month. Aberforth wouldn't have had to pay him because he's asking Dobby to help Harry, which Dobby is happy to do for free. I strongly doubt Dobby demanded payment for any of the stuff we see him do in the Deathly Hallows. As for how quickly Aberforth called him, all he really has to do is say the elf's name and he'll just appear, like Harry did in Half-Blood Prince with Dobby and Kreacher. They were anywhere in the castle, it isn't like they could have physically *heard* him or anything, so calling an elf by his name seems to be part of their magic. I don't see why it wouldn't have worked for Aberforth all the way in Hogsmeade after the secret tunnel had been established and Dumbledore's Army got big enough that it wouldn't be practical for all of the kids to come barrelling through his sister's portrait, rather than just one elf with everybody's dinner orders. He would have become acquainted with Dobby very quickly, just as quickly discovered that Dobby was obsessed with Harry and hated his old masters the Malfoys, and when Harry asked for help, would've known to send Dobby.
Aberforth didn't inherit Dobby. Firstly, Dobby was a free elf. He was freed from the Malfoys and then chose to work for Hogwarts. Secondly, he didn't personally work for Dumbledore.
I'm sold 😂 also, video idea for Ben vs J, play guess character where you put a character's name on each other's forehead and you have to guess the character by asking yes/no question!! you could do HP or pixar or marvel etc!
if i remember right reading some of the Pottermore site ...There is a Quidditch player in modern times that has the last name Kawalski (sp?) Grandson maybe. ???
No. It would be a literary travesty for Jacob to be anything other than a muggle - it's the whole point of his character, and why we the audience relate to him. Muggles can't see Hogwarts *from the outside* - all they see is a ruin and a danger sign, so they don't enter for fear of the danger. There is no indication that a muggle couldn't see Hogwarts from inside, or where the boundary line is. Presumably it encompases a good deal of the grounds, such as the Whomping Willow - can't have muggles seeing a fully animate tree! I assume it's sort of like the protection spell Hermione and Harry cast in Deathly Hallows to make their campsite invisible - as long as you're outside the boundary line, you can't see it, but it's perfectly visible from the inside. Likewise, there are different kinds of magical creatures. Some of them, like dementors, are "spirits" and can't be seen by muggles. But others are fully flesh and blood, like hippogryphs and centaurs, and muggles would be able to see them if they chose to reveal themselves, since they are fully physical creatures. That's why there are many examples in JKR's writings of muggle legends and mythology that describe things that actually exist in the wizarding world. How else would muggles know about them and include them in folklore if they couldn't have ever seen them? Muggles claim to see ghosts quite frequently, and the Loch Ness Monster, and many other things. If muggles couldn't see any of this stuff, then why did they have to make memory-erasing rain fall all over New York City in the previous movie? Seriously, don't you remember what happened only one movie ago? Jacob is not a squib. And he's not a descendant of Helga Hufflepuff, either. He's just a normal guy. That's why we love him.
They made memory rain fall all over NYC likely because it got wrecked and muggles can see acts of magic. They do not come up with these theories for express disproof. They come up with these theories because it is enjoyable and thought-provoking. The travesty here is you expressing unequivocal proof he is a muggle when there is none. Why do you think they created this theory in the first place? Because there was room for it. When stating your personal beliefs, you really should lead with "I believe", otherwise you'll sound ignorant and big-headed.
Hmm. Interesting theory. As for the castle, though, I think specific muggles can be given the ability to see it-Myrtle’s parents came to the castle after she died, and presumably were allowed to see it rather than just wander around ruins.
I could totally see Dumbledore talking to Newt at the end of the final or even next movie, them talking about how Queenie und Jacob can't be together and have to move or something like that and one of the last lines of the movies would be "Who says he's a muggle?" and then Dumbledore calmy walks away with some fancy music and we have a peaceful atmosphere like in "19 years later" where we can only imagine how they are all going to get their happy ending now.
Not necessarily. A squib is currently understood or defined to have at least one magical parent but not to be magical themselves. If his parents were squibs (or at least the parent that descended from Helga), then he would still be a descendant but would not be a squib.
Personally I do not agree wit this theory at all. My reasons are (1) either he is confused of y they are all looking at ruins (2) muggles can see things in the wizarding world if invited like hermiones parents going to the leaky cauldron and Diagon Alley (3) he is still a bit confused after apperating again because he is still not use to it
jacob has ... "something" call it either magical: affinities or understanding or empathic understanding of magical folk & creatures that just don't match what we know about muggles vs wizards. I'd wondered if there's maybe a rare 4th group or category of person ... instead of just a) wizard, b) muggle and c) squib (wizards without the positive, active abilities for magical spells)... what about d) muggles who can sense & see magical things an ordinary no mag wouldn't ever be able to perceive?? plus he gets along really well with wizards & witches... compare his ease around magic to say... the reactions of the Dursleys!!

That’s a good point!
I agree with you, once they are inside of the magical boundaries (like they are in that scene) he should be able to see the castle

@@Symbolic-Sky but yeah, it would be nice to see other wizarding communities around the world, like Japan.
@@insertclevernamehere1186 I think we might because on the wizarding world website, it mentioned a school in Brazil (where the next movie is) and two more, in Japan and somewhere in Africa. So I wouldn't see why JK would make articles about them unless they were somehow tied into a book or movie.
Good question Witches and Warlocks can marry Muggles in Europe.
I really want both theories to be true: Jacob being subtly magical and a fellow (almost) Hufflepuff would explain how Newt and Jacob hit it off so well.
I believe they hit it off because he is a muggle Hufflepuff equivalent.

The Dementors are on their way now.
8:44 we also know that his uncle is a house elf.
No, the memory potion only removes Bad memories. All of Jacobs memories are good
alic seprin I definitely recommend watching the second movie for more details.
Smart move, really.
well i really do hope hes a squib and he was somewhat related to hufflepuff! it would be an awesome history
Hahah, I just always thought it was the "he must have a strange idea of good memories" thing personally. I mean the rhino-thing was scary at the time, but it's one of those things you laugh about afterwards and tell funny stories about.
Dapwnie can’t be bothered reading that but bet it’s amazing
Theory: some 'fortune-tellers' in the Muggle world are in fact squibs 🤷
Nah they are just con- artists
We are just seers
Won’t work
As for what I gathered on the Seer
(Seer did the term of a person who actually uses fortune telling)
A seer performs a act that allows them to see the future and even tel the fortune
A seer can’t be a squib
Since a squib would had to do a act whit her only a person who performs magic can
It is like the whole talking to snake thing works
A squib would also not speak it
Wait. If Jacob is a Squib, and there are no laws against witches and wizards marrying Squibs, then that would remove Queenie's motivation for joining Grindelwald, wouldn't it?
It's possible.
Unless she didn’t know?
I mean no one knows of he is so I don't think that effects her decision, just later she'll have egg on her face when she realizes had she stopped, thought, and listened to Jacob theyd be happy
Joshua Desautels I hope so
Im pretty sure that she is under someenchantment
Like Ron. In fact Jacob's actor compares him to Ron.
It'd be totally awesome if it were revealed that Jacob is a Squib born to the Hufflepuff line! Fingers crossed that it's the case!

Interesting food for thought. Do you have any theories why Credence doesn't receive a Hogwarts/Ilvermorny letter?
2 possibilities:
Because credence is a squib
Since he is a clone of a girl that was older than 11 at the time of his creation, that may explain why:
1: He wasn't written into the School's record book... and
2: He has no family. Technically his genetic profile is older than 11 at the time of his birth so he wouldn't receive a letter.
Also, it could be that he isn't in fact human... But a new type of magical subspecies and I haven't seen any goblins at Hogwart or Ivermony

Here is a ridiculous what if. What if there are adults who have the magical gene but it was never activated in life so they would be considered squibs or muggles. But then something later in their adulthood happens to then activates that gene and suddenly in later life starts showing magical abilities instead of childhood.
So, the Harry Potter version of Percy Jackson's Rachel Elizabeth Dare? That could be interesting.
What? The definition of a Squib is a muggle, born to at least one magical parent. So no.

Squibs are non-magical by definition, they have no access to magic. Descendants of squibs would be the children of non-magical parents, making them normal muggles and not squibs. I am absolutely not an expert on genetics, but I'd say that some kind of magical tomfoolery is afoot rather than it having a perfect corollary in reality

Frozen and fantastic beast: we finish each other’s
Frozen:Sandwiches
Fantastic beasts: Salamanders
ME: SENTENCES ITS SENTENCES
No its sandwhiches. let me explain.
in both movies we see magical powers being cast by female characters, and a female user of magic is a witch.
and what is a part of the word Sandwhich? Which. Which sounds and is spelled very similar to Witch.
Therefore, in worlds that have magic the term is we finish each others sandwhiches because female users of magical abilities are called Witches.
and their power comes from the sand, aka the ground aka earth aka the natural magic present in their worlds.
Jacob is not a squib.
He's a chef.
He's both I believe

That would be really annoying to the other people in the cinema

When you realize that Squibs are just Wizard-born Muggles
Not really Squibs can see things. Have a talent to talk magical animals.
"You're a wizard, Jacob."
Also he was invited in the castle by staff members, so that's a thing too
I really hope that Screen Rant doesn't plagiarise this one too... but I know they will
What do you mean " this one too" ?
vos kaeon they tend to take original theories from other channels without giving credit
Someone get Seamus Gorman on this!
They steal everything from everyone, sweetheart. They even forget & contradict their own videos
yeahhhh
Interesting theory. My husband and I had a good conversation about this. He wondered if the bite from murtlap inducted him into the magical community.
Maybe + the hufflepuff heir is awesome and so convincing
New theory: Filch actually can’t see the castle and just always wanders through the ruins. This explains why he seems to show up everywhere in a split second. Because he can walk through the wall because there is none. He seems to show up out of nowhere because the magical people do see the castle and never see him coming from the other side of the wall.
Crazy theory but could be true🤔
Hé knows when kids are out of bed. The beds are IN the castle. And he hammers all those commandments to the walls. He can definitely see the castle
He sees Mrs Norris hanging in the hall and can read the writing on the wall.
This video has aged fantastically well as in the new trailer we see Kowalski holding a wand & inside of Hogwarts.
Cause his experience was not all bad.
Option 3, That dude was a squib as well!
@@rainynight02 nice!
@@rainynight02 Muggles can see wizardly things. The only reason they cannot see Hogwarts is because of the spells upon it. I read about in Hogwarts a History.
@@rainynight02 , that makes everything fall into place.
Also Anthony Goldstein from Harry Potter was in Hufflepuff House & a Wizard.
I'm calling it. He's a wizard! Next movie he'll pick up a want and it will work.
I think he a Squib.
He looks really confused though, in that scene.
True, but that could be for seeing ruins or surprise at a huge magical castle you never knew existed
@@PKMNResearcherSkyler why do people not know the diffrence between confusion and suprise

@@meme0taker87 to me it looked 50/50 he could be confused or surprised or confused about this castle or surprised that they are going to a ruin. It's really either way.
Hey brother!
I love theories about the wizarding world, but every time I see one I can't help but think about Rowling making it "cannon" just to appeal to people
I have always felt like Jakob was a magickal person.
ShotokanWarriorPete muggle Vs Wizards argument? Lol that seems like a pretty one sided argument to me.
I'm returning to this Video after seeing the trailer of Fantastic Beast: Secrets of Dumbledor just to tell you YES, there are good chances of Jacob being a Squib. cheers!
I guess the quote that we would look out for in the next Fantastic Beasts movies are....
You're a Squib Jacob!

FYI
Sunday, February 24th, on SYFY:
Just saw a brief clip during the commercials where Dan Fogle (the actor that portrays Jacob K) talks about one of his favorite scenes in Chamber of Secrets (the show that was playing at the time) where Harry is freed from his room when the bars on his bedroom window are pulled away by the flying car. They show that segment
Then TV clip ends by going back to Dan Fogler saying that not all muggles/ no-mages are as bad as the Dursleys, implying that his character Jacob is an example of the good kind of muggle/ no-mage.

@@devanyehansen2162 fair point thanks
Devanye Hansen who replaced snape?
Aberforth didn't inherit Dobby. Firstly, Dobby was a free elf. He was freed from the Malfoys and then chose to work for Hogwarts. Secondly, he didn't personally work for Dumbledore.
I am convinced Jacob is a Squib.
Though I'm pretty sure he's not Hufflepuff's descendant.
It all makes perfect sense! Jacob doesn’t have any magical powers but he can definitely see magical things and creatures. He’s obviously a Squib!
I'm sold 😂 also, video idea for Ben vs J, play guess character where you put a character's name on each other's forehead and you have to guess the character by asking yes/no question!! you could do HP or pixar or marvel etc!
What about the thunderbird rain and how he remembered some of the beasts🤯🤯
All his memories were not bad.
if i remember right reading some of the Pottermore site ...There is a Quidditch player in modern times that has the last name Kawalski (sp?) Grandson maybe. ???
I’m assuming this video will go “Remember that time we said Jacob is a descendent of Helga Hufflepuff? Obviously if that’s true he’s also a squib.”
Not necessarily. A squib is currently understood or defined to have at least one magical parent but not to be magical themselves. If his parents were squibs (or at least the parent that descended from Helga), then he would still be a descendant but would not be a squib.
OriginalPiMan very true. I figured others would enjoy my rendition of this video too lol
In an interview, Dan Fogler said that Jacob was looking around for Queenie while standing on the bridge to Hogwarts.
