This episode always moves me to tears. I fall in love with Jenny, am joyful that the Doctor isn't alone, and then my heart breaks when Jenny dies, and finally at the end fills with hope that some day Jenny will find the Doctor again and make him so very proud with her stories of all her adventures. 😭
This episode is worth it just for the Doctor's "A man who never would" speech, superb acting from David. Plus Donna being brilliant as ever figuring out the mystery behind the war, and Martha making me emotional over a purple fish creature 😅
Jenny came back to life a lot later, and it happened instantly, and she didn't change her face. The Source was also called the "breath of life", and is gold in color, similar to regeneration energy so could be mistaken easily. It is more likely the Source resurrected her.
Unfortunantely I blinked and now I'm stuck in 1980, but because of a wibbly wobbly timey wimey thingy I was able to write and post this comment. I really enjoy this episode and the speech at the end is one of my favorites from the Tenth Doctor. Also, the Doctor mentions being at dad when he was inside the TARDIS with Rose during the episode with the girl and the living drawings during the 2012 olympics.

Being born a Gallifreyian you would live one life span, the children of Gallifrey go through a process that turns them into a Time Lord, with 12 regenerations giving the Time Lord 13 lives to spend. I guess that’s also why the Doctor was so mean to Jenny because he knew that if she travelled with him, he could watch her grow old and pass on.

I'm not saying meta-fictional incest is a thing, I'm just saying that if we assume it is a thing, then this episode has to be the gold standard for it.
I've always felt this would have worked better as a two-parter, it feels very rushed. (Like the war - a week is too short for all continuity to have been lost when there's always some overlap of generations, a month would have been better.) The death of Martha's hath friend would have had more of an impact if we'd had more screen time of them working together, I feel. And Jenny doesn't regenerate - I think the Source energy interacted with her Gallifreyan DNA to restore her.
Great episode, great reaction, wish we got a Jenny spin off or more of her. More Martha for an additional episode yay. Donna and her paying attention to the dates. Jenny revived but not a different face. Yeah Old Who and his grand daughter/family. New Who brings it up on occasion. I don't know enough of the context though. Granddaughter sure, family not a clue. The Doctor just had his hand shoved into a machine that forced him to reproduce against his will. (And it obviously was NOT fun for him at all.) It's not surprising that he might be feeling a tiny bit violated and just plain weird. Hardly any wonder that it might take a bit of time for him to accept the situation, especially after he tells Donna about his long-ago family on Gallifrey, which is obviously an extremely painful subject for him. I'm a little annoyed at Donna, who I usually love, for making fun of him in that one scene just before he opens up about it.

"Why's he being so mean?" Idk, something to do with the fact he didn't consent to this child and now people are trying to guilt trip and gaslight him. The message of this episode is kinda fucking gross, actually. It's analogous to women not having abortions and being forced to birth their rape child, and the episode says that's a GOOD thing and you're just a meanie grumpy pants if you disagree and don't love the kid.

The Doctor just had his hand shoved into a machine that forced him to reproduce against his will. (And it obviously was NOT fun for him at all.) It's not surprising that he might be feeling a tiny bit violated and just plain weird. Hardly any wonder that it might take a bit of time for him to accept the situation, especially after he tells Donna about his long-ago family on Gallifrey, which is obviously an extremely painful subject for him. I'm a little annoyed at Donna, who I usually love, for making fun of him in that one scene just before he opens up about it.
I dont think Jenny did regenerate. I think it was more the tera-forming device that brought her back
Well, the first doctor very first companion is technically his granddaughter so he must've had children at some point. in his life.

She technically didn’t regenerate, she was still within the 15 hour window of her creation so she could repair like her father did when he lost a hand.

A great one-off story of Doctor Who, but sadly that's all it is. We never get a follow up on Jenny in this series.

Arguably the weakest episode of S4, but by god that scene in the cell is a masterclass from Tennant.
Fun fact jenny and the doctor ( David tenent) are married in real life they got together after this episode and started dating I think they even have kids of there own now
And her father is also a former Doctor Who actor.
Are we not doing Torchwood S2? I know it's not super vital but there is...stuff. And I think Sarah Jane Adventures S1 should be watched before the end of this season too.

Idk, something to do with the fact he didn't consent to this child and now people are trying to guilt trip and gaslight him. The message of this episode is kinda fucking gross, actually. It's analogous to women not having abortions and being forced to birth their rape child, and the episode says that's a GOOD thing and you're just a meanie grumpy pants if you disagree and don't love the kid.
A bit of a "meh" episode for me.... quite a few in season 4 for me....
