Yes!! I definitely agree now. I watched this two-parter before it was uploaded to UA-cam/Patreon so have now realised Rory's point of view thanks to the comments 💜
One of the most jaw dropping cliffhangers ever. This was the first series which was aired in 2 parts. Episode 7 was the last episode in the spring and we had to wait until the autumn for the remaining eps.
12:26 it’s actually a name he was given by a companion. In the 60s the Second Doctor was unconscious on a spaceship and his companion Jamie McCrimmon took him to a medical bay. He was asked for a name and saw the name “John Smith” on a piece of medical equipment nearby, quickly giving that as the Doctor’s name. The Doctor has used the name John Smith as a pseudonym ever since.
so excited whenever anyone ponders about the name John Smith, Jamie is my favorite companion and I love how his influence is still felt in the show today
Worth pointing out, also, that the Doctor's granddaughter in the classic series (literally the first episode) is a fan of a band called John Smith and the Common Men.
@@elvwood or Chris Waites and the Carollers. (As a kid of the classic era, that blink-and-you-miss-it reference to Chris Waites and the Carollers in an (I'm making this spoiler free) episode made me disproportionately happy.

One theory is that Amy was switched in the White House bathroom in 6x01, another is that she was switched while everyone was on the run and separated between 6x01 and 6x02.
@@theadamabrams Same as the start of ep. 2 as well (when she's on the run). Personally I find the "gap theory" most plausible (her and Rory seem to have been separated so swapping seems more believable then). But really, any time after the night of their wedding and before she first sees "eye-patch lady" in ep. 2 works. (haven't looked at her clothes that closely in the previous episodes but if she's not always wearing that shirt and jeans, do we assume the ganger just kind of subconsciously "redresses" ? Not counting stuff _over_ that outfit of course - a ganger can put on a jacket as easily as anyone else. Edited to add: actually, it must be that right ? Not to be weird about it but she's presumably not wearing that outfit to bed, otherwise Rory would've noticed :)
John Smith was a name given him by the 2nd doctor’s companion, Jamie McCrimmon. Jamie had to think quick and told people his name was John Smith. The doctor used it ever after, except the tenth doctor in “Tooth and Claw” who used the name “Doctor James McCrimmon” I really loved this two parter because it took a very deep moral look at things. The humans could discard “the flesh” because they didn’t consider them persons, but then slowly you find they are persons, some good, some bad. They didn’t ask to be made, but they were. Remember the cat nuns called the people they experimented on “flesh” because that way they didn’t have to regard them as persons. And the ending…wow. This episode really is troubling but for good reason makes you think.
When you say that you're thinking the Doctor could send a flesh Doctor to the appointment with his death, and that could be the solution to the conundrum of this series.... Well, you're really using your brain there that's an excellent thought. But there are more twists and turns this season before we get to how the mystery in ep 1 can be solved.
I think it could absolutely work!! And they said there are many other facilities that use flesh gangers so it could happen. But thinking more about it, the Doctor may not feel okay with getting a ganger to sacrifice itself (although he did pretty quickly get rid of the Amy one 🤣). Hmmm!
@@julesreacts In the case of Amy, the ganger wasn't a separate entity to Amy. It was directly linked, real Amy believed she was on the Tardis experiencing everything. The Gangers at the factory were separated into new entities by the solar storm. Originally the gangers couldn't hold their form unless the humans were plugged in. The gangers left to rot were imperfect connections that left imprints of form and memory, leaving the question of its ethicacy.
The moments of the two doctors bouncing off each other and being in synch is one of my favourite scenes just for how absurd and fun it is. On a trivia note; a cut detail from the episode was that the original Jennifer had eidetic memory which carried through to her flesh avatar, and that was why hers specifically remembered every single death while the others did not. In some ways I feel like that adds an extra element of tragedy to the character.
The Doctor repeating lines from his previous regenerations was quite cool at the beginning. "One day we will get back yes one day" Said by the first Doctor when referring to when him and his granddaughter may return to Gallifrey 0.32 "I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow" A line often said by the 3rd doctor 0:37 "Would you like a Jelly baby?" A line often used by the 4th doctor as he was always offering them. For this line they used a voice line from Tom baker 0:40 "I'm the Doctor" line from the 10th doctor when bragging about kissing madame de pompadour. They also use a voice line from David Tennant. Its followed by the Doctor saying 0.42 "No let it go we've moved on" which is supposed to be making fun of the 10th Doctor's final lines of "I don't wanna go" Also john smith is an alias he uses when he doesn't want to be called the Doctor like when he was the teacher Mr Smith in "School reunion" or when he was pretending to be human in "Human nature/Family of blood" This is the first time the 11th doctor has called himself John Smith.
John Smith is the Doctor’s go-to alias since the classic series, and when he uses it to go undercover in School Reunion Sarah Jane makes a comment about ‘having a friend that used to go by that name’ before she knows it’s actually him haha. It’s particularly nice that Matt Smith got a chance to use it, first time it actually has been the Doctors real surname! The Doctor mentions that ‘they’ must have taken Amy ‘sometime before America’ so she was real last series but has technically been Flesh for every adventure this series, which is also why the eyepatch lady visions and ghost symptoms start during the America adventure I love how they do the flesh Doctor, not just exploring what it is that truly makes the Doctor who he is, but also the struggle to process all the past lives and experiences into one body, a tiny bit like with Donna, the flesh wasn’t designed to cope with a being like him so it takes a while to adapt. The quotes are great, ‘reversing the polarity of the neutron flow’ was a favourite move of the 3rd Doctor, also mentioned in Lazarus Experiment when 10 comments it’s been a while since he had to, and the jelly babies were a favourite of the 4th Doctor, and that different voice is actually him! Also I love the Doctor calling Rory ‘Roranicus Pondicus’ when he’s mad at him, he still sees him as the Roman 😂
11 goes FULL 2nd/7th Doctor in this two-parter with his incredibly manipulative tactics. He tricks every single person in the room. The Doctor that screamed in Amy's face was the *real* one because he was purposefully manipulating her into believing he was the ganger so that he could continue carrying out his plan.
It has become a Mandela effect that the Third Doctor was always saying, "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow." He said it once during his original run, plus once in the 20th anniversary special, yet somehow the line has become inextricable linked to his character. Three was also the only Doctor seen wearing a t-shirt and showing a tattoo, during his second story The Silurians.
He said it more often in the previous timeline, but it got trimmed down after the past changed. Naturally, since human brains are weird, we remember some things from the previous timeline, so we remember him saying it more often. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.
I have to say it again: I LOVE Jules's sense of perception, almost psychic! I also love when she tries to reach out to make sense of the big picture without all the pieces to the puzzle. She's amazing with that talent, and part of the reason why she's the only YT reviewer I watch regularly. I know I said before that, when we deal with Steven Moffat, rewatching stories is almost mandatory. You cannot grasp all the details, all the Easter eggs, all the paradoxical twists and mysteries in just one viewing. But that has always been the appeal of "Doctor Who" for me: Leaving me so confused that I just have to watch again, and again, and again...and every time I do I catch new hints until I'm like, ooohh, THAT'S what it was all about! Personally I think that the way Moffat and his writing team did the job with the soap-opera mentality during the time they ran the show, was among the best sci-fi writing and producing ever. Now, spoiler alert: Yes, Jules, all the outstanding questions will receive answers eventually. That's all I have to say about that 😉. Until next week-ah, which will be Christmas 🎄, incidentally!
this episode was fun but the reveal is so good the whole 2 parter I think 11 is telling Amy to breath its a weird recurring thing that doesn't make a lot of sense and then he whispers that last line to her before she leaves and then the reveal lands and it all makes sense. I also appreciate the "given what we've learned ill try to be as humane as possible" given he knows the flesh is alive and doesn't want to cause it unnecessary pain.
This episode was definitely creepier than the last. And left on such a cliff-hanger! Although, I felt so bad for the real Jennifer, and all those discarded flesh bodies in that pile! Definitely a memorable episode, that's for sure. Also, the wall of flesh eyes be like : 👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁👁

Such an amazing episode. I couldn't wait for your reaction to the end of this episode! I loved the Flesh-Doctor and the real Doctor. It was so well done with trying to keep track on which was which.
That reaction was Golden, rewatched the end of episode reveal many times. Love reliving Doctor Who from someone elses perspective especially a lovely person such as yourself
This is why the tardis kept shifting when scanning Amy’s pregnancy between negative and positive. As Ganger Amy wasn’t pregnant but real Amy was. Can’t wait for the next episode ❤
@767wattsy the silence kidnapped Amy in day of the moon. After the get her back that's when we start seeing the lady with the eye patch and the doctor negative positive scan of her pregnancy
@@shahassxs No, Amy first sees "eye-patch lady" in the orphanage in "Day of the Moon" (i.e. _before_ she's kidnapped). The first "positive/negative" scan _is_ afterwards though (right at the end of the episode). We also didn't have to wait months for the next episode BTW :) - you're thinking of _after_ the next episode (the 3 month-ish gap was between eps. 7 and 8). (she could've been swapped any time after the wedding night and before the orphanage but personally I think the most plausible time is the in-universe 3 month gap between eps. 1 and 2, when everyone is separated)
At the beginning when the Doctor, or Doctor Ganger is struggling when it says "I am the Doctor" it is the voice of David Tennent's 10th Doctor, when he mentions jelly babies it's in the voice of Tom Baker's 4th Doctor
Would you like a jelly baby is a reference to a catch phrase of the 4th doctor played by tom baker from 1974 to 81. He was the doctor who I grew up on and yes one of my favourites. Gangers are people. Dr who is so conceited. He does love himself. They are so violent because they are us. The doctor is about to get super scary. They will be sorry. We are coming for you Amelia.

A small detail I love about this series is Amy is wearing the same checkered shirt and ankle-length jeans for (almost) the entire series up until this point (only adding a jacket and a jumpsuit) whereas Rory does change clothes - a subtle hint that Amy has been flesh this entire time
Something important to remember; The Doctor and his Ganger switched shoes very early on, it was the real deal that spoke to Amy alone; he now knows _exactly_ what was going on at that Diner in episode 1...
See what I mean about classic sci-fi dilemmas? What makes a human? It's a very simple answer in the physical sense, but when you get into the psychological, philosophical, and emotional spheres, that's when it gets a bit more complex. And, the best part is, questions like this will come around several more times. And they're always a highlight.
One thing I’m not clear on is how the 2nd Jennifer ganger was created. They fight and one dies but as far as I can tell she shouldn’t have been able to create a 2nd ganger. There is a scene where she uses Rory to override the system but it comes later. It makes me wonder if that scene was supposed to come earlier originally? Or if there was an explanation, was it cut for time or something?
I remember my first time watching this! Vividly! I was not expecting AT ALL for Amy to be FLESH!!! Our Amy!! I saw later on reddit that people were theorizing about it, so I'm happy I wasn't there at the time hehe Honestly one of the best plot twists ever.
This and the last episodes, not my favorites, but still interesting. The next couple of episodes are some of my favorites with Smith and I'm excited to see your response Jules.
I love hearing that line every time. Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor was my Doctor, my first and the one that got me hooked on this mad, glorious, mind boggling and magnificent show.
"To be continued.....Noooooo!" classic Jules. so Amy's not been amy, and for how long? great question. a better question is what will Rory and the Doctor do about it, Wellllllllll.......
Spoiler free: I think my favourite thing is that no one spoiled the twist for you and it shows in your whole demeanour. I think Amy was probably taken when she ran into the nest of the Silence and they were all hanging from the roof. Seems like the most logical time for it to happen. I also find it interesting that Amy was convinced the real doctor wasn't the real doctor because she was flesh and had an attunement to the flesh doctor and that's why she was convinced he was the real one. That the flesh Amy couldn't actually even empathise with the non flesh doctor. Whoever created the doppleganger still needs the real Amy to maintain the link, like when Mickey was turned into plastic and like when the Sontaran's created a flesh Martha. We've been seeing the plastic and the flesh through every season of new Who. It always interests me if other people pick up on that when get to this episode. It's also interesting how from the plastic to the flesh, the improvements have been so extensive. I think you also have to realise that the anger the doctor showed when he laid hands on Amy was a direct reflection of his frustrations at his own failure. She was taken right out from under his nose and it took him a while to realise. The million dollar question is what tipped him off that she might not be the real Amy?
I am so thankful I wasn't spoiled!!! This is why not spoiling future episodes is so crucial. It gives a much better experience for not only me, but you 💜 I think that moment with the Silence hanging from the ceiling is a very plausible moment for the swap to occur! I never would have guessed. It's been one of my favourite plot twists ever!
18:15 I NEEEED this unpublished piece of music! I've loved it ever since series 4, Midnight. It's been used sparingly throughout the series but never fully officially released as far as I know and that's a damn shame because it's so moody... 🤤
Hey there, Jules! 💜 A fast paced followup 2 parter conclusion, but wait! No it is, itself, the first part of a second two parter!, which is like a 3 parter! It isn’t but if it helps to think of it that way, then fine! Many great scenes in this one. Right off I like the Flesh Doctor going through the previous Doctors, and it really does seem to have the similar effect that every regeneration, which you have seen in the new Whos, confusion, a bit manic, frenzied, but with this poor Flesh Doctor, they are all happening simultaneously, and have become very overwhelming. But, he is the Doctor, so he soon has it under control, and can begin finishing the others thoughts. I especially like, at 1:54 - “Is that what you were thinking?” “Yes, it’s just So Inspiring, to hear me say it!” 🤣 Then ground rules have been established and the Doctors are ready to put their thoughts into action. A random thought - the 2 Doctors, back and forthing here, reminds me of the Lutece twins, Robert and Rosalind, from Bioshock Infinite. 😅 Amidst the fast paced, adversarial action, at 8:50, You’ve done it again, Jules! A brief puzzled look on your face and then you think the thought aloud - “What if they’re both …” Your grand attempt to totally avoid looking at the new, and growing Flesh Jennifer. At 14:25 - Once again - you just don’t know how brilliant you can be! And then … the very best reaction here, this day - 16:37 - and you didn’t have to wait 2 or 3 episodes to know yourself correct. The fruition of your intuition! Well done. 18:41 - the slow turns of the big twist - the one which no one (well I haven’t seen everyone view this episode, but generally speaking) sees coming begins. “I needed to see the Flesh in its early days, that’s why I scanned it. That’s why we were there in the first place …” And the look on your face. Shenanigans - an appropriate word for what’s been happening, all along series 6 so far. “ … You Need To Stand Away!!” Something the Doctor doesn’t like but is very necessary to his way of thinking here. 🫣 “ … you haven’t been here for a long, long time.” One of the most chilling bits of dialogue in the Doctor Who universe, to my mind. 🫢 And there it is - the first-time-viewing reaction payoff - You, embodying the classic impact of what you just witnessed. A perfect reaction to the shenanigans. 🙌😊 “Puuuuuusssh”… That slot in the wall woman just freaks me out … 😶🌫 Excellent editing, production, and reaction, Jules 🥰 I am very happy, each week, to see you enjoying this show as much as you do. It is a Fantastic piece of television, without a doubt. Have a grand afternoon, evening, and night’s rest, Jules. 💜🤗💜 You’ve done enough for 2024. let it all simmer a bit, and jump back on the train, in 2025! 😉😊
Tom 👋💜☺️ I loved this episode!! Reading your comment and insight makes it even better, so thank you. It definitely was better than the last episode for me, but this one had so many interesting moments... especially the ending. I love that I didn't know anything about that moment. I'll have another mild week next week on the gaming channel, but this one I haven't decided if I'll skip Christmas day (which is doctor who day and I know many people will be upset...) maybe I'll decide next week 🤭 more time off does sound tempting... the peewees do need watching, after all! I'm ready for today's episode of the Doctor and yeah this has been a very interesting episode with the humans and the gangers kind of confusing and funny at the same time but I'm really enjoying it, great performances from the cast and i wish you a beautiful Merry Christmas Juliette.🎄🇦🇺☃️

The Doctor kind of has to accept the gangers as real people. If you think about it, each new regeneration changes the Doctor's personality, so each time he regenerates, he has even less in common with who he used to be than the gangers do with their original human.
Probably a top-3 "To be continued" of the show for me, cuz, y'know, yowsa :) - i'd be pretty astonished if _any_ viewer saw _that_ coming (I certainly didn't). And as is often the case in nuWho, this episode is basically about how "Hurt people hurt people" - ganger-Jennifer is too scarred by her experiences to move beyond them. Rory on the other hand manages to turn _his_ trauma of being plastic (and basically alone) for 2,000 years into _compassion_ for the gangers and what they're going through. The parallels with _many_ real-world situations are all too apparent.
So many twists in this second part and honestly when i first watched this episode it kinda blew my mind lol. My mouth was wide open by the end. Fantastic 2 parter and this is one of the few episodes where the second part i think is better than the first part The best twist is that the doctor amy trusted was the flesh and the one she didnt trust was real. I think thats a good twist too. Also the choice rory had to choose between two jennifers was cool too since they were both gangers. I think the biggest twist for me when they essentially say Amy was taken at some point and its why the tardis couldnt see if she was pregnant or not
This is another great example of which episodes not to show to your friends if they can't tolerate horrible cgi. 😅 BUT, I have to defend it in the writing and especially in the acting department. I never forgot about these performances. The acting really makes these episodes work (not talking about the little boy though at the end. 😅🙈 he works better in the German dub). The main girl always kinda reminded me of Zooey Deschanel. I'm currently watching 500 Days Of Summer for the first time....😔🤦♂️ But I most preferred her in her role in the Jim Carrey comedy "Yes Man".
It has to be _before_ Amy first sees "eye-patch lady" in the orphanage in "Day of the Moon" (and the end of that ep. is the first "positive/negative" pregnancy scan). That aside, any time after their wedding night is _possible_ (though to me the most _plausible_ is the in-universe 3 month gap between eps. 1 and 2, when they're separated).
I'm honestly not sure if I should post next week or not! When I release the videos, it's 6am Thursday but it's Christmas evening for most other people. I'm not sure what to do....
I agree post it as usual. I'll certainly be here. I have a good friend who lives in Sydney, i think she's about 10 hours ahead of me, i'm guessing a similar time difference for you.
@@julesreacts Yeah! They get a Who anyway, so toil on Your Christmas Holiday, so they can enjoy theirs, and get a double shot of the Doctor, whilst doing nothing.
the whole premise of the two parter is what makes you the “real” you and i feel like the answer the episode was supposed to be that your experiences and memories make you who you are and that the gangers were also the real people. but then right at the end the doctor reduces flesh amy to goo. what did this two parter actually have to say after that scene at the end? why humanise the gangers to the extent they. did if ganger amy doesn’t matter. when i originally watched this i though the two episodes had so much going for them philosophically speaking and the it just fumbles the theme right at the end for me.
I don't agree. I think his reasoning was that breaking the link was important in order to keep Amy aware and able to be located and unfortunately that led to death.
The Doctor shows compassion for the flesh people and demands they are treated as the sentient beings they are yet he murders flesh Amy. Flesh Amy was clearly sentient and not even aware she is flesh. Why did he kill her? Could he not have dropped her off at another planet or even Earth in the past?
Ganger-Amy was only a "puppet" (as we see when 11 "cut her strings", she disintegrates) whereas the other gangers were _separate_ beings from their "hosts" - it's only when they're disconnected and start living _their own_ lives that they're "people".
With Rory, you have to remember that out of all professions, he chose to be a nurse. At his soul, he is both compassionate and tough. If he sees someone in need, like Jennifer, he's softer with them.
Yep at one point he wasnt "really " a human
Yes. It made perfect sense to me that Rory would try to help Jennifer because she seemed weak and in need of help. Rory is awesome

I wait all week for these eps to come out . I've seen the entire series many times but really enjoying these reaction videos
Glad you enjoy the videos! Thank you so much 💜
Dittos! In fact, Jules is the only YT reviewer that I watch regularly.
The Doctor repeating lines from his previous regenerations was quite cool at the beginning.
"One day we will get back yes one day" Said by the first Doctor when referring to when him and his granddaughter may return to Gallifrey
0.32 "I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow" A line often said by the 3rd doctor
0:37 "Would you like a Jelly baby?" A line often used by the 4th doctor as he was always offering them. For this line they used a voice line from Tom baker
0:40 "I'm the Doctor" line from the 10th doctor when bragging about kissing madame de pompadour. They also use a voice line from David Tennant.
Its followed by the Doctor saying 0.42 "No let it go we've moved on" which is supposed to be making fun of the 10th Doctor's final lines of "I don't wanna go"
Also john smith is an alias he uses when he doesn't want to be called the Doctor like when he was the teacher Mr Smith in "School reunion" or when he was pretending to be human in "Human nature/Family of blood"
This is the first time the 11th doctor has called himself John Smith.
Ahh I didn't know some of these, thank you!!
The 3rd doctor called himself John Smith a lot because he didn't like the character being anonymous.
The Doctor mentions that ‘they’ must have taken Amy ‘sometime before America’ so she was real last series but has technically been Flesh for every adventure this series, which is also why the eyepatch lady visions and ghost symptoms start during the America adventure
I love how they do the flesh Doctor, not just exploring what it is that truly makes the Doctor who he is, but also the struggle to process all the past lives and experiences into one body, a tiny bit like with Donna, the flesh wasn’t designed to cope with a being like him so it takes a while to adapt.
High five for calling the shoe swap!
He _did_ say "reverse the polarity" (minus "of the neutron flow") a few more times though.
@@anonymes2884 True, but that was something every has said more than once during their reign, with the possible exception of Nine.
Maybe Rory's memory of being a duplicate subconsciously picked up on the fact that Amy was a duplicate!? Trust the plastic!
I reckon this is it! I didn't pick up on it at first 😊
15:41 YEP. LMAO there's the nightmare fuel I remember so... so fondly. This is a great two partner, but GOD it's scary.
I've always wanted a clone but now I'm not so sure 🤣
The penny drops! This is one of the most brilliant twists in Doctor Who
Careful 🤫. Spoilers.
this episode was fun but the reveal is so good the whole 2 parter I think 11 is telling Amy to breath its a weird recurring thing that doesn't make a lot of sense and then he whispers that last line to her before she leaves and then the reveal lands and it all makes sense.
Also, the wall of flesh eyes be like :

WHAT AN ENDING! I obviously had no idea and I LOVE IT 😱 This is a brilliant series, full of surprises, brilliant writing and incredible acting. It's a privilege to watch!
Michael, thank you! I appreciate your kind words 💜
This is why the tardis kept shifting when scanning Amy’s pregnancy between negative and positive. As Ganger Amy wasn’t pregnant but real Amy was.
Can’t wait for the next episode ❤
It all makes sense now 😱
And leaves more questions to be answered. No breathing space here!
I loved seeing your reaction to the twist at the end!
I was so shocked!!! Never saw it coming 😱
John Smith was the Doctor's human alias frequently during the Classic era, especially during the 3rd Doctors' run when he was exiled on Earth.
Hell, it's still frequently used in modern Who
This was a big twist and we had to wait months for the next episode. Presumably Amy was swapped in day of the moon.
If not earlier, and offscreen.
@@shahassxs That makes sense. Has the Moff ever spoken publicly about this to confirm this theory, out of interest?
I really thought Jules was going to burst into song with " How Long Has This Been Going On?! " 🤣
I try not to sing too often as I don't want to upset anyone 🤣🤣
At the beginning when the Doctor, or Doctor Ganger is struggling when it says "I am the Doctor" it is the voice of David Tennent's 10th Doctor, when he mentions jelly babies it's in the voice of Tom Baker's 4th Doctor
Absolutely incredible detail!
19:15 such a crazy moment. So much confusion but we finally get an answer to what was going on with her but now have different questions
Enjoyed your reaction as usual.
P.S. "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" is a classic Third Doctor line.
Or at least it is in "fan memory" (in reality he only said it 2 or 3 times :).
@@anonymes2884 You're right: it's no "Allons-y!" What would you consider Three's trademark line if not "reverse?" My vote would be "I'll explain later" :)
Just about to start a two week shift in Accident and Emergency in an East London hospital. My choice as it gives colleagues with family more much needed time with them. But no more UA-cam/Jules reactions reactions until the 2nd January!
I am so pleased I found this reaction stream. Jules reaction posts are heart-warming, and really lift one up after a tough day. And those that post here are always friendly and positive..
Happy Christmas to all those that celebrate this time of year as a religious festival, and happy holiday to those that don't.
Please have a designated drive or use a taxi over the holiday. Best wishes all for 2025.
Awww well there will just be more videos for you when you get back 💜 all the best for your two week shift. You're doing amazing things. People like you are so, so needed and angels on earth. Thank you for everything you do!
A small detail I love about this series is Amy is wearing the same checkered shirt and ankle-length jeans for (almost) the entire series up until this point (only adding a jacket and a jumpsuit) whereas Rory does change clothes - a subtle hint that Amy has been flesh this entire time
The melting into flesh at the end was intense
So unexpected!
This part of Amy's story has always hurt my brain when I think about it. Glad we're back to real Amy now lol
WHO has perfected the cliff hanger
They've really been ramping them up!
Pretty sure John Smith came from the 2nd Doctors companion reading the brand of a future radio or scientific scanning implement.
John Smith is his secret identity. It goes back to the old series. Remember David always used John Smith when he was making people think he was human.
Yes!! That's so true!
It is also the UK equivalent of John Doe. Just a generic name you give to someone without an identity
@ well back in the day Smith was considered the most common sir name and John the most common first name. I think it’s different now.
The ganger could feel real Amy’s pregnancy but that part of her was not physically replicated in making the ganger.
This was not a two-parter that I liked, but by the end I was like: 🤯🤯🤯
I remember my first time watching this! Vividly! I was not expecting AT ALL for Amy to be FLESH!!! Our Amy!! I saw later on reddit that people were theorizing about it, so I'm happy I wasn't there at the time hehe
Honestly one of the best plot twists ever.
I've been waiting on this episode and this reveal!! 👍🏻😀
This and the last episodes, not my favorites, but still interesting.
The next couple of episodes are some of my favorites with Smith and I'm excited to see your response Jules.
I have adored series 6! I cannot believe how quickly Matt has won my heart 😅
Can't wait for the next episode
Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!
Charlie 👋 Rory and the Doctor will move heaven and earth for their Amy. She is one lucky girl 🥰
I remember freaking out at the end of this episode first time around and your face at the end said it all! :)
It gives a much better experience for not only me, but you 💜
I think that moment with the Silence hanging from the ceiling is a very plausible moment for the swap to occur!
A fast paced followup 2 parter conclusion, but wait!
Amidst the fast paced, adversarial action, at 8:50, You’ve done it again, Jules! A brief puzzled look on your face and then you think the thought aloud - “What if they’re both …”
Your grand attempt to totally avoid looking at the new, and growing Flesh Jennifer.
That’s why we were there in the first place …”
And the look on your face. Shenanigans - an appropriate word for what’s been happening, all along series 6 so far.
“ … You Need To Stand Away!!” Something the Doctor doesn’t like but is very necessary to his way of thinking here. 🫣
“ … you haven’t been here for a long, long time.” One of the most chilling bits of dialogue in the Doctor Who universe, to my mind. 🫢
And there it is - the first-time-viewing reaction payoff - You, embodying the classic impact of what you just witnessed. A perfect reaction to the shenanigans. 🙌😊
“Puuuuuusssh”… That slot in the wall woman just freaks me out … 😶🌫
Excellent editing, production, and reaction, Jules 🥰
I am very happy, each week, to see you enjoying this show as much as you do.
What a huge surprise!
I am truly unsure about what to do with the videos for the rest of the year. I'll have another mild week next week on the gaming channel, but this one I haven't decided if I'll skip Christmas day (which is doctor who day and I know many people will be upset...) maybe I'll decide next week 🤭 more time off does sound tempting... the peewees do need watching, after all!
Have a most wonderful day ahead, Dear Tom. It is bedtime, I have a cat on my foot, it's dark and peaceful. Life is not too shabby 💜
Next episode is one of my favourites. You're in for a treat!
my main question with this episode is this: WHEN was the real Amy taken and the Ganger put in her place?
This I want to know, too!
I haven't even watched your reaction yet and already I'm in pain.
"This is the conclusion to last weeks episode" hahaha *starts sobbing*
"That's just a ganger, doesn't matter" Oh boy, that's gonna age like fine milk.
"Now that Doctor has his own ganger, I wonder if his feelings on the subject will change"
Oh, how you misunderstand the Doctor.
Awesome video as always dudeT cannot wait for the next one!
Doctor Who is your strongest show reaction on the channel in my opinion! Keep at it Jules!
I am constantly surprised by how many people continue to watch it each week! Everyone is so wonderful 💜
@@julesreacts I think you'll find as much as we adore Dr Who, we adore the person reacting to it even more :)
I'm ready for today's episode of the Doctor and yeah this has been a
very interesting episode with the humans and the gangers kind of
confusing and funny at the same time but I'm really enjoying it,
great performances from the cast and i wish you a beautiful
Merry Christmas Juliette.🎄🇦🇺☃️
Roger, thank you!! It definitely is a bit confusing, I wouldn't know what to do in that situation... ☹️ enjoy the next few days before Christmas ✨
Thank You Juliette😊🎆
@@julesreacts I’ve seen that this ChatGBT bot has found your other Channel. I’ve contacted YT to terminate the account, having something pose as you is not fun!
Hold tight jules, the ride isn't over, but you're lucky as this season in 2011 was split in 2 parts we had to hold on for a while till the next part
John Smith has always been his alias
Since the second Doctor
Yes, I remember the 10th Doctor using it, too!
Amy accidentally doing wat the silence wanted her to do
So many twists in this second part and honestly when i first watched this episode it kinda blew my mind lol. My mouth was wide open by the end. Fantastic 2 parter and this is one of the few episodes where the second part i think is better than the first part
The best twist is that the doctor amy trusted was the flesh and the one she didnt trust was real.
BUT, I have to defend it in the writing and especially in the acting department. I never forgot about these performances. The acting really makes these episodes work (not talking about the little boy though at the end. 😅🙈 he works better in the German dub). The main girl always kinda reminded me of Zooey Deschanel. I'm currently watching 500 Days Of Summer for the first time....😔🤦♂️
But I most preferred her in her role in the Jim Carrey comedy "Yes Man".
And we have a Broken Reactor.. 19:34
The reason the doctor attacked her was to be believed as the flesh version, i don't think he was treating Amy as lesser
🙌🙌👋👋🌟🌟✨✨⭐⭐🌠🌠🌠🌠
What’s really going to bake your noodle… how many times did Rory and Amy try for a baby after she was already pregnant???
🫢🫢🫢
A thing I have been thinking for a while is: when did they take Amy?
Probably during the day of the moon or before season 6 but after season 5
It has to be _before_ Amy first sees "eye-patch lady" in the orphanage in "Day of the Moon" (and the end of that ep. is the first "positive/negative" pregnancy scan).
That aside, any time after their wedding night is _possible_ (though to me the most _plausible_ is the in-universe 3 month gap between eps. 1 and 2, when they're separated).
the ganger was link to the real amy in real time so it was amy / ganger to?
Ooohh good question!
I look forward to your next reaction to my favourite Matt Smith episode.
Considering you post at about 8pm on a Wednesday, UK time, maybe that might be a Christmas pressie from you to me next week.
I'm honestly not sure if I should post next week or not! When I release the videos, it's 6am Thursday but it's Christmas evening for most other people. I'm not sure what to do....
@@julesreacts Go on we'll get double Doctor Who on Christmas Day
I agree post it as usual. I'll certainly be here. I have a good friend who lives in Sydney, i think she's about 10 hours ahead of me, i'm guessing a similar time difference for you.
@@julesreacts Yeah! They get a Who anyway, so toil on Your Christmas Holiday, so they can enjoy theirs, and get a double shot of the Doctor, whilst doing nothing.
so close.
That's just a (?????), it.doesn't matter is not how the Doctor thinks
the whole premise of the two parter is what makes you the “real” you and i feel like the answer the episode was supposed to be that your experiences and memories make you who you are and that the gangers were also the real people.
but then right at the end the doctor reduces flesh amy to goo. what did this two parter actually have to say after that scene at the end? why humanise the gangers to the extent they. did if ganger amy doesn’t matter. when i originally watched this i though the two episodes had so much going for them philosophically speaking and the it just fumbles the theme right at the end for me.
The flesh Amy wasn't sentient, it was just being remote-controlled by real Amy.
Ganger-Amy was only a "puppet" (as we see when 11 "cut her strings", she disintegrates) whereas the other gangers were _separate_ beings from their "hosts" - it's only when they're disconnected and start living _their own_ lives that they're "people".
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
