Spoiler alert! Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Dolittle!
Robert Downey Jr. was the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, and fans were really pumped to see what movie he’d jump to next after leaving the MCU. As it turns out, the answer to that question is DOLITTLE, a movie that now exists.
RDJ is the third actor to play Doctor Dolittle after Eddie Murphy and Rex Harrison, and one thing is for sure: this is a movie that now exists. Dolittle is kind of a mess of a movie and definitely raises a ton of questions. Like if each species has its own language, how are they able to speak to each other? How is Dolittle able to address more than one species at once? How is that child able to learn how to speak to animals too? What is the plot of this movie? Why is John Cena voicing a polar bear? Why is there a dragon and WHERE DOES DOLITTLE PUT HIS HANDS?!

I'm not sure. RDJ's primary interest with this movie seemed to be to hope it succeeds so he won't be remembered as just Iron Man, so I wouldn't be completely surprised if his pay check was fairly modest.

Fun facts,
1. The animal languages thing was in the original Dr. Doolittle stories and the movie with Rex Harrison. It wasn't until Eddie Murphy that they switched to some kind of innate ability.
2. It's been a while since I read the books, but I seem to remember there being mythical creatures in them. In the original movie and in the book, I think the first story was about finding a giant snail the size of a house? So yeah. It was a half assed effort to smash the several versions together as far as I can tell.

Fan Theory:
Ryan actually bankrolled this movie with his "Buying Canada" money figuring he would make it back tenfold with the Pitch Meeting.
I mean there is literally no reason for this movie to exist other than for him to eviscerate it here!
The only problem with that Theory is that Harry Potter is owned by Warner Brothers and Dolittle (2020) was made by Disney. But it's possible that this is the same producer and screenwriter but they just switched Companies.
