Peach saying okay to the Toad actually makes a lot of sense. She's been raised by them, so she knows first hand that a Toad that's not scared is a Toad worth bringing along on an adventure
i understand what ur saying but she didn't know .. she was surprised he was capable, or had the ballz to go ... what she knows is its unlikely that a toad dude would go, hence the surprise
Honestly, most of the stuff he's describes like it doesn't make sense makes perfect sense in context. Like the thing about having Mario go through the obstacle course; Peach said she wasn't leaving for the Jungle Kingdom until the next day, and Mario trains until the next day. So...
Isn’t the whole joke about the toads is that they’re scared of most if not everything? And that’s what sets toad aside from the other toads cause he’s afraid of some things….????
The original Mario Brothers pitch meeting is hilarious! Producer: you consumed a lot of mushrooms while writing this? Screenwriter: oh no, I just ate portobello mushrooms. I didn’t smoke them. P: oh, that’s a relief. S: yeah, magic mushrooms really would’ve interfered with my acid trip.
You don't smoke magic mushrooms, you ingest them. If you are just starting on your journey into the world of psychedelics, make sure to do your research. Psychedelics are safe *IF* you take them responsibly.
And I,who never played at"Super Mario"once, spent the whole time thinking:"Oohh,I bet fans are gonna recognize this thing! And this thing. And this thing. And..."
Thank goodness they kept it familiar though! The first movie did so much weird nonsense, we needed it to all be fun and come together… they did a great job, I wept tears of joy from the overwhelmingly awesome audio video
Ryan’s ability to make up original phrases for things that happen very often is impressive. We’ve probably seen 100 pitches of movies with blatant nostalgia-baiting. Yet here comes Ryan with a brand new phrase: “I remembered the thing I remember.” 😂😂 That’s gold
I love screenwriter guy conceding "it might be, I dunno" about the message being performance enhancing drugs. He has no idea what the message is, he doesn't care, it barely even matters 😂
@@drawingdragon Bowser still hasn't had the mental breakdown needed to convince himself that his many illegitimate children are actually Peach's children. So for now they are hidden away like modern illegitimate children. People don’t seem to understand, contextual action applies, we don’t need to be told what something is and why it is and what it does, just show it is what it is and how it works
I think this episode had the freshest jokes of any episode in a while. He didn't rely entirely on catchphrases, and it felt like he took some risks in the writer's room. Courtroom talk and performance-enhancing drugs were great jokes.
Not really, because those things have nothing to do with Mario, so the comedy in this Pitch Meeting wasn't grounded in any sort of reality, which is why it all fell flat. But hey, even Ryan can't win them all, and that's okay.
Brought my son to this for his first movie in the theater. He dressed up in his Mario costume and everything. I’ve never seen him so excited. We loved it. Definitely an entertaining movie.
2:32 To be fair, Peach said earlier that she was going to leave for the Kong Kingdom in the morning. So whilst it is a valid question why she didn’t decide to set off immediately, she didn’t delay herself so Mario could do the obstacle course.
Yup, I thought that was pretty obvious. And honestly all the jokes about “you’re not going to explain that?” to me aren’t valid either. It’s a kids movie and I was totally okay just suspending my belief to have fun instead of 3 hours of them trying to somehow explain why turtles talk, mushrooms make you big, pipes warp, etc. I actually laughed when Mario said “so these bricks are just floating, ok”.
What was the point of the obstacle course though? It just felt like exposition without character. Yeah, Peach is obviously the Live-Action Mulan of the movie. That's all I learned. She had no real growth. Mario had some growth, but if you think about it, all he needed were drugs. :) ....I mean, performance enhancing food.
One thing I really loved about the characterisation of Mario and Luigi was the brotherly love they had for each other. Although Luigi does get unfairly limited screen time in the movie, and I know a lot of people like to make fun of or make parodies about Mario being a bigshot and hogging the spotlight while Luigi always gets bullied, I was really touched by the brotherly bond the two had in this film, and it really warmed my heart to see how much the two cared about each other, and seeing how close Mario was to break down in tears after reuniting with his brother was quite wholesome. Not to mention Mario always looking out for his little bro and Luigi supporting his brother's dream and overcoming his fear in the final act. Reminded me of my connection with my brother
@@Lance.Gardenhire He lived and both Mario and Luigi joined together with the super power up star and defeated Bowser and now both live in the Mushroom Kingdom

Hollywood isnt changing thats the stubborn influence of Miyamoto and Nintendo coming through. Honestly, i think both need to bend a little to what audiences are looking for. Lets be real, it could have been much worse, it could have been much better. The set pieces and animation were the highlight here. Illumination did a great job.
Right about all of it and STILL LOVED THE HELL OUT OF THIS MOVIE! Took my 5, 10, and 15 year olds to see it and I've never seen all of them have the same smile and wide eyes at the same time before. Movie's great!
Gotta admit watching this with my daughter was the best cinema experience in a long time. I’m still a bit surprised by how good the movie really was honestly, just felt like Mario, and it was fun to watch. The fact that my daughter loved it makes it even better, she now wants to watch the old one…this will be fun 😅
I haven't watched animated stuff in years and within a few weeks I've watched Puss in Boots and Mario. Animation is better than ever (as long as Disney is not involved).
Really enjoyed a lot of the jokes in this one. I would not be upset if they all became reoccurring catchphrases like "barely an inconvenience". "I said what I said!" and the court room lingo killed me. 😆
2:16 I feel a lot of people miss something here. I noticed this on a 2nd watch of the movie, Peach told the council of Toads that she was gonna leave for the Kong Kingdom THE NEXT MORNING. She wasn’t planning on leaving right then and there. When she met Mario (a potentially concerned citizen) and heard that his brother was captured by Bowser, Mario himself insisted on coming with. She wanted to test Mario’s ability and see if he was capable enough to actually face the potential dangers. You have to remember that she admires bravery and determination. She saw his determination to want to save his brother himself and respected it. By the next morning, even though Mario (ultimately) didn’t pass the course, she let him tag along cause she liked his tenacity. I’m sure if he didn’t show any progress at all by the morning, she wouldn’t have let him come. Ultimately, she didn’t “waste time” training Mario, because as she said, she wasn’t planning on leaving till the morning anyway. She probably would’ve slept or something within that time until she left at daylight. You may believe she actually should’ve left right away, but that wasn’t her plan, so it’s not a flaw within the script. Whether or not you want to count her not leaving right away as a critique, her taking time for Mario was not. That part is covered. That one line of dialogue is just very easy to miss.
@@GuyWithNoNickName While it's great that they included Peach's "the next morning" line, it's still a bit weird to not leave for the journey immediately without asking them to like...gather supplies for her. If Mario hadn't appeared would she have just had a nice luxurious dinner and gone to bed before walking all the way to her destination when time is of the essence to save the entire kingdom? Story wise it doesn't make sense.
@@gymnastgirlflips I think most of that's implied to be happening off-screen. The wait until next morning is (presumably) to make time for any necessary preparations and arrangements for such a journey. With or without Mario, at the very least some time is needed to decide how the kingdom is going to be run in the meantime (and what happens if the journey does run into complications). Leaving the next morning makes a lot more sense than running off at once.
@GuyWithNoNickName cool still doesn't make sense. Why did she not leave immediately? Why did she not use the time to prepare more readily instead of choosing to help Mario? Why did she immediately take Toad? It's a script flaw. There are some questions for you so you writing that massive wall of text was completely unnecessary and a waste of time. 😊😊😊😊😊
Okay, it's amazing how specifically you mentioned how quickly Mario and DK got out of the ocean creature thing. I literally missed how they got out because I took 30 seconds to look up who voiced Kranky Kong.
I mean, leaving the catchphrases aside for a minute, it really isn't that high of a bar to meet, between how _bad_ video game movies typically are and the effects of inflation.
It was pure fan service. And I loved it. After years of video game movies having nothing to do with the fucking video games they're based on, this was amazing. References to all the main Mario games, so many snippets of Mario's amazing history of music and a lot had cool reworks. Animation was top notch, characters were all likeable and hilarious. Also it didn't overstay it's welcome, 90 minutes flew by, it kept things moving along great. A kids movie, but a great one for the old heads like me.

I was thinking he would mention how Bowser is defeated using a blue mushroom to make him tiny/put him in a jar... throughout the whole movie when people get hit the mushroom powers go away-All Bowser had to do was hit himself, grow back, and bust out of that jar.
Maybe someone else has to hit you? They don't really specify how HARD you need to be hit, either. At the end when he's in the cage, when his cage is shaken he kind of hits the back of it but doesn't grow. (When that happened I expected he was going to grow and break out of the cage as a tease for the next movie.)

2:32 To be fair, Peach said earlier that she was going to leave for the Kong Kingdom in the morning. So whilst it is a valid question why she didn’t decide to set off immediately, she didn’t delay herself so Mario could do the obstacle course.
Fair enough!
Straight Lampshading.
Hey shut up😂
Yup, I thought that was pretty obvious.

Recognition of familiarity is how Ryan George operates his entire channel considering the number of recurring gags/characters/catchphrases :)

2:16 I feel a lot of people miss something here.
I noticed this on a 2nd watch of the movie,
Peach told the council of Toads that she was gonna leave for the Kong Kingdom THE NEXT MORNING.
The explanation didn't need to be this long.
@@ghostderazgriz I was covering my bases and addressing things thoroughly so there wouldn’t need to be any questions.
@@gymnastgirlflips
I think most of that's implied to be happening off-screen.
