I'm so glad you made this video hardly anyone makes videos on how to make curl clumps, only Swavy Curly Courtney made one video about this that I'm aware of and it's the video I've been following. But I wanted to see how other people made clumps and I couldn't find any other videos. Most curly girls rake products through their hair and even comb them through with a fine-toothed comb and they end up with the fattest juiciest shiny curls. When I do that my hair comes out so stringy and with a wet look even if I didn't use gel and I hate that look I want big fat curls. I'm going to do what you do next time I wash my hair.

Love this video! I’m trying this tomorrow - my hair clumps great on one side with no effort but the other side tends to be more of a frizzy curl , using a little gel helps but like you I like to keep it simple and always resist using a lot of different products. When my hair is dry I scrunch a bit of argan oil in and this really helps too.
Your technique works great on my layered, chin-length (after dry!) bob. I was running low on curl defining cream and it's always a crap shoot which one to buy--even if one works well, I get tempted to try something else. With your system of using defining gel in the shower, I find I won't be needing curl definer. The clumps are best-ever and they held up all week long. Thank you!
I really admire you for your honesty and keeping everything simple and easy. You are the only blogger I don't miss to watch and I really wanna thank you for teaching the curly tribe the perfect way to keep the curls happy and pretty.
Love the info on the fringe especially!! My forehead is huge so I love fringe...but, curly fringe is tough, for me anyway :) and I totally know what you're talking about with clipping it up and making a super odd pattern, I do this a lot when I think I'm just trying to clip it up so that it doesn't press flat in my forehead. Always something :) love your simple way to style!!! Way more my speed :) thanks!!!
I have recently stopped fighting the curl. While visiting California last month and north Florida last week, my hair did so well. Then I remembered that when we moved a decade ago, my hair immediately went to, well, you know. I don’t have a water softener, so will have to put up with this until I move, when I will definitely be installing a water softener. My hair is above my shoulders, so there isn’t any weight pulling it down. I want the large clumps, so will try your tips. Thank you.
I have watched you for quite some time and I find that your video’s are so much better for me than other’s. I am not one for the shenanigans. I like straight forward and that’s what I get from you. That video was really helpful. I like your simple approach. Some of the processes that people do for their hair are way too much for me. I have always tried upside down styling and this seemed to work better for me. Keep posting simple stuff...we need to see that it doesn't need to be complicated 🙂

New subscriber! Your videos have been so helpful to me for the past week or so I have been watching. I have always had curly hair but I went through a long straightening phase and because my hair is NATURALLY two different colors, (it is super blonde in the front and very dark blonde/light brown in the back) I have to bleach or dye my hair. I have been bleaching because the front is so blonde that I find I can make that look last longer without having touch ups. (I only get it colored twice a year and just deal with the roots the rest of the time.) ANYWAY, I decided to re-embrace my curls and they can’t remember what to do with themselves in some places. 😂 Your videos have been super helpful getting them back! Thanks again!
Hi Susie! I'm glad you shared this. I am definitely going to try the clumping part standing up because I always have trouble with the top crown area of my hair getting frizzy/tangly from flipping upside down and/or plopping. :)
Ever since I started scrunching conditioner into my hair I found that my hair is a lot more hydrated! Might be a placebo effect but I swear it more deeply conditions my hair rather than just putting it on my hair

As of this morning, I incorporated some of your tips. My hair is wet at the moment, but I can already tell that it's working. To what extent...THAT remains to be seen. Lol
omg for the FIRST time after watching dozens of wavy/curly videos on youtube i find someone who doesnt create the gel cast! I am only thinking about starting to treat my hair with "curly" routines (I would say mine is 2C/3A with more curlier bits underneath and stretched out locks on top) but I despise feeling of product in my hair and so I haven't gotten anywhere. My hair probably isn't very porous, because it doesn't absorb products well and if I applied 3 different curly routine products to it post shower it would be just stringy and greasy which no thank you. I've tried using some strong hold mousse I had on hand once and couldn't stand the crispy and stringy feeling of it after it dried, I ended up brushing out my hair. This kind of makes me interested in trying to buy a proper gel and try using it in this exact way!!! I do hope I could get some more hold like this, because while I like how my hair curls naturally, no product no styling just air dry, it tends to lose the curls on 2nd day except for the tips of the hair (which curl no matter what even when I straighten my hair)... I would like to hear if there's anyone else who only uses gel and doesn't use enough to create a cast! If yes please give any tips for this :)
I love how you said you couldn’t wait to pick your son up and all the other parents would be impressed with your hair! I’m not gonna lie-I think the same thing when I have an awesome hair day with really great curls! 😂
I really like your videos! I have a fringe, too, and I have never got it to look good using the CGM until I tried your tip. It totally worked and my fringe looked great. Thank you!
I love your technique and your hair looks beautiful. I love that you use minimal products too. will try and let you know how it goes. One thing with the look i like is elongated clumped curls. And not so many corkscrews. Any ideas how to get that ? Thank you again!!! 😊
My hair is so much like yours its crazy! Its graying and I've decided not to dye it. My finge is a problem too, I'm hoping growing it out will help. Thanks for all your info!!!!!
Growing the fringe out will difinetly help. :) My bangs are the same length as the rest of my hair ( touching shoulders) and they are so much more managable . And you can do alot with them too....pin them back or tuck behind your ears , low back ponys etc..
My hair is graying to but if I found out her color she use I will do it tomorrow and my husband will be so happy I try it but afraid of color products that dryout my hair, so waiting to foundout what she used LOL
I'm so confused. When my hair is wet, it looks even curlier than yours does in that video. When it air dries after i put products in, I just don't get results anywhere close. I wish I could hire you to come to my house😄

I scrunch conditioner upside down too! And that's how I rinse: at an angle to the sides or upside down. If I stand normally and don't scrunch at all and just let it rinse like I do with my shampoo, then I'll have zero clumps and my hair will be smooth and stuck to my head. I hope I can keep doing this when I'm older 😬 some women say they get dizzy or lightheaded.
I can’t wait to try this technique. I love the idea of tipping my head forward instead of upside down. One question- I normally plop with a T-shirt after I apply products, then get back into the shower to rewash my face and all the areas that became covered in conditioner and product during rinsing and clump arrangement. Do you have any tips on that with this technique?
@@CurlySusie Is it weird that I’m totally fangirling about you personally responding so quickly? We adore you! Your realness is a bright spot to so many of us. Thank you!
@@angiericketts6459 I just treat the plopped head like a hair in a turban and wash my body. I do my hair first routine, then I shower. I don't bother getting out for any steps. I find that I do get product on myself, which can make me itchy, so doing the shower second helps. The time in the plop while I shower counts toward the overall plopping time. I usually wash my face **first** because when I try to do it with my hair plopped or wrapped, I tend to get part of my head wet in the shower, which jeopardizes the curll So for me: face routine at the sink (or whereever); hair routine; shower.

I like simple!! LOL otherwise I won't do it, I'm trying this. Thanks!
Love your tips. Thank u. Please keep them coming
As of this morning, I incorporated some of your tips. My hair is wet at the moment, but I can already tell that it's working. To what extent...THAT remains to be seen. Lol
That yellow looks gorgeous on yoy
Thank you Susie! I learn some little nugget from you every time I watch your tips!!
omg for the FIRST time after watching dozens of wavy/curly videos on youtube i find someone who doesnt create the gel cast!
Very beautiful i love your hair
Great video! It has helped me a lot.
Thank you!
Thank you for your videos! You helped me learn how to work with my waves/curls. I appreciate the practical and realistic approach you take.
Very helpful for my mom 💕💕💕
Girlfriend... lookin good! I'm going to try this and see how I go! Thanks heaps! xxoo
Helped me sista! Thank you for sharing your tips
Thank you for explaining this. I don't do the upside down thing at all. It just tangles my hair.
Me too! Crazy tangles
I love your technique and your hair looks beautiful. I love that you use minimal products too. will try and let you know how it goes. One thing with the look i like is elongated clumped curls. And not so many corkscrews. Any ideas how to get that ? Thank you again!!! 😊
Absolutely love your hair 😍 and your curly hair advice! 💞
So helpful! Thank you so much! I love the simple techniques and honesty.
This is actually such a helpful video, thank you!! Also, what gel do you use?? I’ve never used gel before so idk where to start.
Same problem
No le pongas productos pesados! Menos es más! Y no te toques mientras se seca. A mi me pasaba y así lo solucioné!😘🇦🇷
@@robinarman7300 yes my hair is definitely dry and I live in a desert climate too
@@teriteri4971 it could also help to check how much humectants (esp. glycerin. are in your products because in a really dry climate it can draw moisture out of your hair
You could try a hard hold gel
Love this! You look fantastic!!
Can't wait to go pick my son up from school today because all the other parents are gonna see me and be like Ooh My Gwd lol🤣😂im weak, honestly made me laugh out loud.
I need attention 😂😂😂
@@CurlySusiehaha loved it, it was a great hairday. I bet you did have them saying oh my Gwd! Lol
Favorite part 💕 That was too cute lol
I had to chase the men off with a stick 😂😂😂😂
Honest and practical
I scrunch conditioner upside down too! And that's how I rinse: at an angle to the sides or upside down. If I stand normally and don't scrunch at all and just let it rinse like I do with my shampoo, then I'll have zero clumps and my hair will be smooth and stuck to my head. I hope I can keep doing this when I'm older 😬 some women say they get dizzy or lightheaded.
Scrunching makes a big difference for me!
TY Can you show how to do face framing pieces?
Your hair looks beautiful
I can’t wait to try this technique. I love the idea of tipping my head forward instead of upside down. One question- I normally plop with a T-shirt after I apply products, then get back into the shower to rewash my face and all the areas that became covered in conditioner and product during rinsing and clump arrangement.
Do you have any tips on that with this technique?
Hi Angie I don’t find that conditioner and/or product run over my face or back at all... when I rinse the water all runs forward if that makes sense.
I usually wash my face **first** because when I try to do it with my hair plopped or wrapped, I tend to get part of my head wet in the shower, which jeopardizes the curll
So for me: face routine at the sink (or whereever); hair routine; shower.
