I've recently found that "seaweed-like texture" for my high-porosity hair means completely soaked, not just spritzed. So It's easiest during wash day, since I just run through the whole series of steps in the shower, immediately after shampoo and conditioner. The hardest part with thick hair though, is to be disciplined (as you are) with sectioning my hair to ensure I've used enough product - it gets so tedious!😆 And I absolutely do the hover diffuse or I get massive amounts of frizz. Thank you for the tips!!
This vid was useful as a guy to get my hair MORE stringy. My methods have been too clumpy and almost looking like I've used a curling iron. So more salon looking than I'd like. I think the stringier curls look more natural and better for me
My hair looks exactly like yours. So I’m going to do exactly what you did, but using the products I use. I use to style in sections. Bottom, back, and then front / sides. Then I started scrunching all my product in, now I’m going to do what you’re doing and hopefully my hair will be less frizzy, better curl clumps and just more definition and texture and volume.
I'm getting major Merida vibes from your finished look 😍 thanks for the tipps! My hair is really more wavy than curly, but I find that applying these methods help to make my hair look more healthy and shiny.
By watching your vids. I have found that my hair does a lot better styling it soaking wet as well. You have taught me so much on styling and sectioning. Thank you very much! 😊❤
Thank you. I have small curl clumps that look stringy to me. I think I may be missing adding tension to my hair with the brush. I’ll try it next wash day and hope it helps.
I feel like this video is so helpful! Tried the curly girl routine yesterday for the first time and result were not as I hoped 😅 got tons of frizz and stringy curls. I am going to try your tips. PS I love your accent ❤
First! Thank you so much, I have really long thick red hair and it’s always been really frizzy and crazy, I think it might be somewhat curly. Thanks again your videos are great!!
Thank you for the detailed video. It's very helpful. You have incredible hair, it's absolutely beautiful!! I am sitting here almost crying because I am 38 and my hair decided to become extremely curly in the past few months. I have no clue what to do with this. All my life I had long straight/ waivy hair. This is completely new and I am at my wits end!
Your advices are on the point. The movement of the hair after styling is key for me. It may sounds crazy but now with the climate change I think the products that worked for me are not doing the work done. I live in a very humid and hot place and at this moment all tje tricks are getting insufficient to fight frizz and stringy hair issues 😢
I so needed this video today! I'm so grateful you're putting this information out there! I've been using the bounce curl brush and now I realise that for bigger curl clumps I need to style with the Tangle Teezer. Thank you!!!!
I started the CGM a while ago and love it. I'll try your suggestion with the brush, as my waves are quite stringy. And I love your hair, it's so beautiful! I wish I had curls like yours 💖
Wow,I have done my hair soaking wet when I was younger (as my mom has told me to,she is a professional hair stylist) and my curls were amazing alsmost every wash, then I tried a lot of new ways and oils and all of this and feel like it never really worked for me. Mx hair also got curlier and I got mocked for it quite a bit, so I tried to "calm" it down more. I have dry hair and can drench my hair in leave in. ^^ I will try my old routine again and combine it with the tension brushing and let you know hot it works!
Your hair looks beautiful! With my fine hair I feel like the stringy waves give me more volume. Have you ever tried Only Curls? If not, I'd love to see you review their products!
You have incredible curls. Mine are also long but no where as long as yours! Mine is also a little finer but we have similar curls. I will be trying out some of your tips. Thanks!
Your tips for more clumps are giving me hope to try...AGAIN! I use Not Your Mothers Curl Cream and a diffuser. I've found that my curls get way too stringy during the diffusing process. Maybe adding the gel would be a good idea for me? Also...is it normal for me to take 40 or more minutes to diffuse my hair? My hair isn't as long as yours but it's very thick. Any other tips are appreciated. Your hair is just stunning. The cut, length, curl clumps, and especially the color.
gosh, this seems really helpful and i hope these work for me. Also found this video after styling my damp hair😅 next time definitely trying because my hair is the definition of stringy
Now I have some new options in my styling arsenal. Thanks! 😘 My hair is pretty fine and I find letting my curls "settle" for about 10 minutes before I defuse helps too.
My hair looks so similar to your stringer version and I identified a few things that I could do differently from this video ! Thanks a ton 💜💜!! You hair is gorgeous btw ☺️
Thank you Hannah for the tips and advice i will try. I tend to scrunch out the gel cast the morning time, because it helps the curls last longer! Have you ever tried this, it is a good thing to do once you've had a shower in the evening. 🥰
@@hanzcurls well you have lovely curly hair Hannah! I also have naturally curly hair, I use a comb to comb through my wet curly hair then style with gel. Maybe you can do a curly hair video about different ways to style your hair with combs as well as brushes? 💗
This helps me because I also have low porosity hair, and I have been struggling with which product, how much product to use on my thick hair, and how to keep my curls from getting weighed down and flattening on day two after I wash and style.
Thank you for this! This helped a lot! Can I ask where you got your spray bottle? The past 2 I have purchased broke within months and the last one I had made the water smell terrible even if I only left it in there for a couple of days. Thanks again!
Hi, I´ve started CGM a year ago until had my hair cutted short. Now it is under my ears and it´s very difficult to style. What you recommend for shorter hair than you have :-) I am not able to do so much tension during brushing or maybe I´m just unhady :-) Also applying gel is tricky :-) My hair is thick btw. Thank you very much for any advice!
Okay I tried exactly what you did and my hair is so frizzy and not in curl clumps. I have the same exact hair type as you. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. 😭😭
@@MunroMcLaren sorry to hear that. It definitely can take trial and error to figure out what works for your hair. Our hair may look the same but it may still have different characteristics. Did you use the same products?
@@hanzcurls I use the same strong hold gel. I use Innersense for shampoo and conditioner and Innersense curl cream (used Bounce Me by Design Me before).

It depends entirely on your hair texture and what you're seeking as the end result. My son's fine 3a curls always air dry and only require a small amount of light curl cream. But my own coarse wavy hair usually requires more coaxing to form waves/curls -- diffusing is the surest method because it sets the shape in a gel cast within 20-30 minutes without the risk of the waves becoming elongated or frizzy. You'll have to experiment for yourself to see how you like one vs the other.
How dense is your hair? If you don’t have a ton then air drying might be viable for you. I have a lot of hair and if I air dry it just looks flat and takes hours and hours to fully dry. I simply don’t have time for that. Diffusing also helps to set your hair so that the clumps don’t break apart while drying, and helps your hard work last longer
Only if it’s ripping the hair out, and I only brush my hair when it has conditioner or product in, and work from the ends up to the top to remove tangles!
Definitely not! I have found that brushing or combing dry (curly or wavy) hair is actually much more damaging then brushing it when wet. I have significantly less breakage and hair loss when I brush my hair wet with conditioner in it.
